The airbags light came on after I bought the car and I am afraid of I get in an accident they will not deploy my mechanic said I would have to go to a car dealership about it. . . The brakes also fail if I try to stop abruptly they go to the floor and do not stop the vehicle. . . The brakes are the worst when I am driving slowly and try to come to a stop. I have taken my car to the dealership and was told that my brakes are in good condition and the mechanic didn't understand why the car was having issues stopping.

8 Air Bag problem of the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 12/15/2019

I was on the 4th floor of a parking garage in my town and was going up to the top level. As I am about to turn the corner, I realize I am going a bit faster than I thought. So I apply full pressure to the brakes which did not work as fast as they were supposed to. The tow truck man later told me that I was going around 20 to 30 mph at time of impact. When I hit the pillar in front of me, the airbag didn't deploy and my seatbelt did not tighten as they were supposed to. This meant that my whole body snapped forward and impacted collarbone first into the steering wheel. After this incident, my whole left side felt numb and I was left with a swollen collarbone and contusions from the impact.

14 Air Bag problem of the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

We received a recall notice for our 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer. We no longer have the original warranty that came with this car at the time of purchase. I have talked to Mitsubishi recall center about this very dangerous airbag that has already killed 23 people: unfortunately, there is not a dealership where I live, so according to the mitchubuhisi case worker one of us would have to drive to the dealership in orland which is approximately 5 hours away/ this car has 130,000 miles on it and can hear a tapping noise when first starting. Because of this noise, my husband feels this car may break down on the way to this dealership. My husband also has a hard time getting time off, "due to the nature of his job," and I have anxiety and am afraid to drive this car. I also have a hard time driving long distances due to a torn meniscus that I had surgery for in February of 2017. Unfortunately, I am still having problems with this knee and am currently still on disability from this injury. This I have related to the Mitsubishi case manager who was assigned to us. She said that all she can do for us is give us $100. 00 for the cost of gas and she did not offer any other solutions, even after I explained the above to her. Are we really stuck with this offer? can you help us with this? does. I can't believe that they can get away with making people take a risk to fix. They are playing russian roulette with our lives. Sincerely,.

15 Air Bag problem of the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 11/24/2017

Takata recall - I took my car in to hickory Mitsubishi in hickory, nc to get the airbag fixed. I picked up my car in the afternoon. It started to get dark about an hour later, so I turned my lights on. I have no interior lights on my car. I can't see my odometer, shift column, etc. I had to travel a significant distance to get this repair since there is no longer a Mitsubishi dealer where I live. Now I have to go all the way back there and sit for another 2. 5 hours while they try to figure out what they did to my electrical system. I'm not sure I want them to even touch my car again.

27 Air Bag problem of the 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 07/24/2015

Good day, I recently got a safety recall letter from Mitsubishi about a possible defect in my car's airbags that when deployed could cause metal fragments to impact my face and body and possibly cause death. The problem I'm having is, on the letter they stated that all the repairs would be at no-cost with no mention of aftermarket parts an extra fee I have to pay for. So I set up an appointment and when I got to the dealer they said I had to pay them a fee to remove my aftermarket alarm and stereo. I was baffled as to why I had to pay for something that wasn't even my fault. I talked to the manager of the dealership trying to be reasonable but they wouldn't waive the fee. I've called the Mitsubishi hotline but to no avail, saying that I have to pay the fee for "uninstallation and reinstallation of aftermarket parts". I don't know where else to go to that's why I'm asking for your help. I strongly believe that I shouldn't have to pay for something that wasn't even my fault to begin with and it was my life on the line for who knows how long I've been driving with potentially defective and deadly airbags. I hope you understand my situation. Sincerely, jazper.

29 Air Bag problem of the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer

Failure Date: 06/23/2015

I am an owner of two Mitsubishi cars; one bought new at a mits. Dealer in tucson, az 11 years ago and the other bought just a couple of months ago at a used car lot in tucson, az. Yesterday, I received an 'important safety recall' notice for both cars via mail. It's recommended to take care of the recall of the passenger air bag, that is described as causing serious injury or death. Yet, there is currently no local dealer where I live. Therefore, I called the phone number listed on the notice to address my concern. I was told I'd have to travel to another city over 80 miles one way to have this remedied. This would be much too inconvenient, unlike the promised 'every effort to minimize inconvenience' the notice reference. Shouldn't they allow this to be done by a certified mechanic in the city of tucson where I purchased the cars and reside; it's not my fault that they've had maultiple dealerships close down here? I am very unhappy with mits. Right now for causing me to have fear and not helping with the problem they informed me of. . . Not sure what to do. . .
