I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero with 43,000 miles and the abs control module all of a sudden went out. There was no problem. Just backed up on January 1, 2006, and noticed the light was on. I looked in the owner's manual about the problem and did what it said. But the light remained on. I took it took a local tire and brake company, but they couldn't get the light to go off. Then, took it to a dealership, and they told me the abs control module had gone out. The cost of this part was $900. The service manager at the dealership told me to contact Mitsubishi because he has never seen this problem happen before. I did, and they told me that there was nothing they could do since the 36,000 mile warranty expired. I think this sucks because it is apparent that this part must have been defective since it was one that no one could tell me that they had complaints about it. I will tell you one thing this is the only Mitsubishi product I will ever own.
