I have 50,000 miles I’m the original owner, bought it new in 2020, I was leaving work, started my car, blue smoke came out my exhaust, when I drove home from work, on inclines, the car sputters & stalls like it’s about to lose power, accompanied by thick blue smoke, and engine noise. I suspect it’s the piston rings in the cylinder head or valve seals are bad. My car has been parked for months, dealership wants to charge me a diagnostic fee, I take uber or lyft to work mind you I have an open loan on this car that I’m still paying. I think Mitsubishi used poor quality parts, piston rings don’t go bad at 50,000 miles neither does valve seals. Please help, im paying for a car I cant drive.

This vehicle has been deteriorating since around the 10-15k miles. One of the recalls should have fixed something that was happening to my heater /ac not turning on. I would turn on the vehicle and the fan wouldn't turn on. I had turn off and restart the vehicle. This has happened multiple times. The display panel will turn off randomly while driving. The main problem is my car drifts to side. Really bad. I feel really unsafe in it. I had to pay outside company to see what it was and have them continue to align my tires because it gets so shaky. I can't even attach a hitch to this. The car shifts to the sides really bad, even over the smallest bumps at low mileage. Someone from one of the dealerships told me there was nothing wrong with my tires (I asked them to check it when I went for a recall). I was told the vehicle feels different b/c Mitsubishi motor is now made by Nissan. He thought I was dumb or something. I haven't been able to get this fixed b/c idk what to do. Im not hte car expert. They are. I have to constantly align the wheels but I've pretty much exhausted how many times I can get them aligned. Now apparently my shocks are bad? and Mitsubishi won't sell the shocks to an outside auto repair shop.

While accelerating the gas gage goes up but there is resistance when pressing on gas. The vehicle does not accelerate right away and there is a drag before the vehicle gets up to speed. It takes off really slow.

Engine is affected, vehicle is struggling at low speeds when pressing the gas.
The engine shuts off while at idle for stop lights, stop signs, and on occasion brief stops such as reversing and turning. The battery has been replaced, the alternator has been checked, & the catalytic converter was checked no problems there. However the problem persists with no warning/engine/battery light on. This is a big problem when trying to safely operate the vehicle especially if others are expecting me to go and then the car shuts off.

Won't shift gears, hesitates while driving, won't drive after stopping. Check engine light and transmission service warning light is on.
I’ve changed the battery at least once or twice within the first 2 years of purchasing the vehicle from the dealer with zero miles on it. Lately (in the past 2 months) I’ve changed the battery at least four times or more. Some expensive batteries as well. In the past 2 months, it’s been giving me problems including stalling on me, slowing down on the highway, sometimes won’t start at all, sometimes it’ll say electrical system service required. Once it said four-wheel drive system service required on the highway as it slew down and I had to pull aside. I’ve noticed some recalls on the vehicle via internet research. It may not be specific to my vehicle, but it does seem very familiar problems with my vehicle. Such as electrical system: starter assembly: relay, electronic stability control, electrical system: software and even with the transmission. I’ve towed the vehicle to the Mitsubishi dealer in totowa, NJ today. I was informed that my specific vehicle doesn’t any recalls. Service advisor did say there are other similar vehicles did have those recalls but mine didn’t come up on the recall.

Vehicle has 12,000 miles. I was driving about to take trip and got a warning "engine malfunction power reduced service now. Got to dealership, they think its a software issue. Seriously scared me and it could be software. Awaiting dealership to confirm. Visibility with visors down is extremely limited. Can't drive with visors.
The contact owns a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, the transmission overheat message was displayed indicating that the vehicle should be turned off. The contact pulled over and waited for the engine to cool down. While attempting to drive, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The contact also stated that while the vehicle was idling, the engine revved up. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, but it was unknown if the vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
This 2017 Outlander has had issues with the tire rod multiple times. It needed to be fixed approx every three months and the tires needed constant changing as well. This vehicle had a timing chain issue which left me stranded in the middle of the high way. The power stopped, the car started to jerk back and forth and it would power off. We had to get this car towed to three seperate mechanics as no one would work on a Mitsubishi and I was told it was the timing chain with possible engine damage. Prio to all of this happening the radio and electrical system would freeze or automatically turn off and on, it never resolved and blue tooth was rarely able to be used.

The contact owns a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander sport. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 mph with the cruise control activated, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power momentarily with an unknown message was displayed. The vehicle then regained motive power independently and the rpm was elevated to 7,000. The contact stated that there was a hole in the transmission housing and the lower engine block. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.
My 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport is having problems shifting and accelerating. There is a transmission service needed light that comes on the dash when turned on. A few months ago I had to start manually shifting which barely got me by. Recently it would not go over 25 mph, and continued to go slower and slower until it stopped and would not accelerate at all. I have had to drive on the far right of the road with my hazards on and barely made it from a to b while cars zoomed past me. I had to turn the car off and back on which helped a little. I feel like when it is low on gas, that also makes it worse? I have taken the vehicle to the dealership that sold it to me who confirmed the faulty transmission and they gave me a printed quote for a new transmission. The mileage is at 89,811 and I've had it for almost 2 years. I first started noticing issues shortly after purchase when it would shake when idle once in a while or would have a hard time accelerating after stopping. The first time it would not accelerate was about a year ago. I no longer can rely on this vehicle for transportation.
Car has several problems with the transmission causing many safety concerns. Riff shifting and loss of power when trying to move car sometimes. Very dangerous condition having it towed to mitchabichi dealer. .
This was in a rental from national car rental from the las vegas airport. I was driving down the road at about 65-70 mph when the vehicle's brakes just slammed on, and everything about the car just died. There was a huge groaning sound as it happened - kind of like when you are in 'park' and push the gas pedal and it revs really high. I tried shifting into neutral, nothing changed, and all the lights and functions of the car went out. I did my best to "direct" (couldn't steer) the car to the edge of the road. It was a busy remote highway, I was in the 'fast' lane. So could move over as far as I could to the other side of the white line while basically groaning to a halt. When I stopped all of the power shut down, the car would not restart and at first the battery and "service engine now" lights came off, then everything stopped. After a bit the battery came back on so I could at least charge my phone to use it to call for assistance. I have an email from national saying it appeared to be an engine malfunction. When this happened I was on highway 93 between las vegas and kingman arizona (right around mile marker 30). It is a split highway with a dirt median. I was on the inside of the median. Fortunately when it happened there was no one directly behind me or they would have hit me. This is the main thoroughfare between nv and northern az here, so it is basically semi trucks going >70 mph the whole stretch. I had to sit in the car for 2 hours waiting for the tow truck to arrive. I did not get out of the car because I was more scared of distracting a driver and veering into me, whereas sitting in the car I was just as scared, but I thought at least I had an airbag if I was crashed into. I was honestly terrified the whole time. I sent numerous emails and made numerous calls that document all of this. I have pictures and video of the situation. The car was picked up by jone's towing from kingman az.
Both front struts bearing are rattling in every corner or bump stopper when driving. Was notify since the second week of buying and they replace the parts but it get worst. Hood fluttering, gas smell in the cabin when you are park with the a/c on after 20 minutes. Engine lose power the last month and they have to update the computer software. The cellphone wifi charger presented problem and they have to update the software once again because lost signal and wasn't charging.
The car does not accelerate if it goes pastb40 mph the vehicle shakes. Also the battery goes down quickly. Also the oil change does not last as it should. The car has been repaired several times. Also the battery had to within one year. Something drains the battery. I recently had to purchase another battery. Something is draining the battery.
Purchased my used vehicle at my local dealer, in which, they just received into inventory and had not been reconditioned at all ,prepping for resale, but this vehicle was still offered to me in a nonformal fashion; since my low credit, low deposit, and prior repos that it be best if I choose that one. The vehicle has displayed symptoms of shuddering since day one. Test drive was uneventful since we remained low speed. However, immediately and if ever drive 55-75mph there would have shuddering and erratic rpm readings but would settle once slowed and time passed. The dealer was informed the next day of this + of all oil change, car wash, detail, inspection, etc. That were also offered as apart of the deal as well and they only picked up the vehicle once ,second day after financing vehicle, but they only installed a "gps" device within the vehicle and ignored and downplayed all my requests and accounts of the details of the matter entirely. The problem persisted and the dealer personnel gave me the run around and errors electronically that pushed this matter past warranty dateline and they informed me they were not obligated to any action. 2. 5 - 3 years have passed living with these unresolved issues gotten used to it until last month on the freeway the "service transmission" light illuminated it shuddered uncontrollably to a sudden stop where it was very difficult to steer to safe location, but once I stopped the vehicle would always start up but not would it accelerate forward or backwards every time. Sometimes yes ,and some not so much. Had to be towed home and seemed to drive about half of a block distance only as have had been completely cool,as opposed to warm or hot and attempting to move forward. Shows all the symptoms of safety campaign sr-16-006. Local repair shop was uncertain diagnosing ,but tried a complete transmission fluid exchange, which was a fail. As far as recalls dealership, too costly at the moment for tow to/from+inspection,since the recall shows error.
I believe they said it was the cam broke a part . I was driving on a 4 lane highway going 70 my car made a horrible noise and then my car it just shut down I was in the middle lane and thank god I was not hurt or hit by the semis going around me . Then tried to order this part and cannot get it it's on backorder and they have no idea when it would be available and so they checked the motor and I now have to replace the motor because of this breaking this was definitely a safety issue with my car just shutting down while driving it.

The contact called and notified the local dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. When driving my 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander se down the highway last week my car began to make a shudder like feeling when I stepped on the gas. When attempting to accelerate my car my rpms jumped and then dropped significantly making the car shake and not accelerate and instead the speed declined. I was on the highway driving and feel very fortunate that no one was behind me when my car jerked causing them to possibly rear end me and I am glad that my car did not jolt forward hitting the person in-front of me but it was a very real possibility. My car is around 98,000 miles and has had every oil change and maintenance it has needed on time and I am the second owner of this car. No check engine light or anything came on while my car was practically breaking down on the highway and there was no warning. The next day the check engine light came on for about 10 mins and then cleared itself even though the car was continuing to shake and drop and rev rpms. I took my car to an automotive place and they told me I would need to have a new transmission put in the car and he thought I had very low miles to be having this issue and because the engine light was no longer on he test drove the car and confirmed and ran the error code in the history. After some research I noticed that there was a recall in 2016 for the transmission of my car 16v563000 stating that there is a delay in the transmission and the consequence could cause a crash and to fix the problem "software needed to be upgraded" I asked north America Mitsubishi for a report of the specific work done to the transmission to provide to my mechanic. They stated they cant do that and I don't need it and can get my transmission done at Mitsubishi where they can see the previous work done for the recall. There is a technical service bulletin for this issue its so common, I am 1 year over the 5 yr warranty and they say I have to pay for a new transmission. I was told theres no recall and nothing they can do.
The secret to easily protecting your gutters here's the secret to automatically protect your gutters without hassle: innovative gutter guards! let us protect your stacey dodier 1 message in 2019 I purchased a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander from Mitsubishi dealership in lagrange, GA. I was assured that the vehicle was safe and reliable. As a precaution I purchased an extended power train warranty for $2,325. After my purchase the dealership sent emails reminding me to complete basic services such as oil change and tire rotation without any mention of transmission fluid exchange. Fast forward to January 2022 I was riding on the interstate and the transmission light flashed quickly. The vehicle stalled on the highway and I barely had time pull over and avoid being hit by other drivers. At that moment I knew something was terribly wrong with my vehicle. I had the car towed to heritage Mitsubishi in morrow, GA. Around January 25th a service advisor from the heritage dealership informed me that the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander that I owe almost $16,000 on needs a new transmission which would in total cost $8800. I was totally shocked and when I asked why the advisor said that the cvt transmission is expensive and the person who sold you the car should have told you to change transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. I was in shock because I had never worried about transmission issues with any other vehicles. As of now the engine light is on and I still don't feel safe driving this vehicle.

The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the transmission module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure was like NHTSA campaign number: 16v563000 (power train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
Back in October 2021 the vehicle in question stopped functioning while driving with our 12 year old and 10 months old baby in the back seat, a warning of engine malfunction showed up on the dashboard almost causing an accident. The vehicle was towed to the dealership and after a few days they didn't find anything. 5 months later and 7000 miles later we received the safety recall letter for what we believe is the same issue we had last year. In addition and after many calls an a few visits to the dealership they haven't been able to address nor fix the fluttering in the hood and rear bumper which we consider is really dangerous. Is Mitsubishi waiting for a tragedy to happen? they want us to drive this vehicle knowing that the engine may stall again and cause an accident.
The contact owns a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the abs warning light illuminated and the vehicle would stall while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact owns a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that lower engine heat shield had cracked at the bolt inserts causing the shield to become unsecure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the heat shield needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 28,000.
