I was driving home from work when the car started to violently shudder. I took my foot off the accelerator and it stopped, only to happen again when I resumed pressing the gas. While driving to work at approximately 6:30 am , as I was signaling to merge onto the on ramp the cars gas pedal stop controlling the speed of my car. I pulled over to the side of the road and my car would not move. I tried to put the heat shifter into park but it was stuck in drive. I had to have the towed to a mechanic which informed me that I needed a new transmission. (3 different independent shops). After being told what it would cost to repair the vehicle the vehicle is still parked in my driveway.

While driving or coming to a stop, the engine will shut off, the infotainment system will reboot and the car needs to be stopped, put into park if it hadn't done so and turned back on. It does this randomly and because the dealer cannot recreate it, it constantly gets ignored. We are not sure why this happens but it is extremely unsafe.

The shifter assembly was replaced by the manufacturer and I do not know if the item is available for inspection as the dealership handled the replacement. Mine and my daughters safety was put in danger on April 10, 2024 when I was turning into a parking space at my doctors office and went to put the car into park the car accelerated on its on over an embankment and into a busy 5 lane highway. When trying to stop the brakes failed several times and the only thing I could do to stop it was push the on off button to kill power to the engine. Upon stopping we looked at the car and saw quite a bit of damage to the car after going over the embankment and through several bushes and small trees. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer and manufacturer. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership at which I bought the vehicle and by my insurance company. The week before the incident when trying to change shifts out of park into drive the car failed to shift and I had to turn the car off using the off on button to stop the power to the car and turn back on to get the car to shift out of park.

Car suddenly freezes and no system works. Won’t start, shift, whole electric system gone. Happened several times. Very dangerous and dealer has no idea what’s wrong. Can’t get anyone at Mitsubishi to respond. Only had car 6 months and it has $36,000 miles.

Entire engine and electrical system failure not corrected with new battery or $30,000 mi. Service. Once I turn car off, everything freezes up and won’t start again. Windows, steering, starter, everything locks up. Had to tow it to service 2 times in 3 weeks and they claim they can’t find problem. Dangerous!.

The cvt transmission would lose power when making a turn over last few yrs. My safety was put at risk due to oncoming traffic could have hit the car due to loss of power. The service transmission required light just started coming on after dealing with loss of power. Car only has 106,000 miles on it. The car is available for inspection & is currently at tmt automotive in bremen in. Codes coming up are transmission issues. The loss of power issue started in 2018 when the car was purchased; I did not know this was a sign of transmission issue. There was not a warranty on the car when purchased. There were no lights or warnings until last week when the car started lurching forward & light came on for the first time for transmission service. I scheduled a diagnostic appt with tmt as soon as it happened. I do not have documentation yet due to car is at the tmt automotive, waiting to hear on 3/25/24 from shop if the transmission is bad.

Vehicle does not operate at temperatures below approximately 10 degrees fahrenheit due to manufacture failure to install a battery heater. Was inexplicably deleted from 2023 model year of vehicle. The heat pump system also does not work at low temperatures therefore an electrical resistance heating system is needed. Also, vehicles will not accept charge at low temperatures. The problem can only be confirmed at temperatures below 10 degrees. Vehicle warning lights confirm the problem is due to low temperature conditions. Research indicates numerous complaints that manufacturers are aware of and refuse to address. Could leave owner stranded if leaving vehicle in a cold location.

Hesitation when putting thee vehicle in drive or reverse. While driving rpms fluctuate 500-1000rpms continuously. Studdering when accelerating from a complete stop.

While traveling on the highway, as I accelerated, my vehicle began to shutter as if it was about to stall. Then the d on the display panel began flashing and a message concerning the transmission was displayed. As I increased my speed the more the car shuttered. I researched and found that this has been an issue with this make and model of this vehicle. After calling a Mitsubishi dealership, I was informed that my vehicle has had this problem fixed. They require a couple hundred dollars to look at it but it sounds like they have already made up their mind that it is not under recall.

The car started using more fuel, hesitatingly, slipping gears wouldn’t go in gear, died while driving.

I was driving on the highway on a trip and out of no where my car shuttered and then flashed service transmission soon, I pulled over and my car would no longer drive, reverse or go into neutral. The tow company reset my battery to try to reset my car system. After that my car wouldn’t really go past 60. I followed the tow truck to the nearest town and it stalled again at the light and I could no longer go at all, my car locked up and wouldn’t reset at that point. It’s an $1100 tow back home. The cvt transmission really needs to be rechecked and recalled. I’ve found too many issues and the same complaints but can’t find a recall on it at all.

While driving in the city limits around 35 miles an hour I had to stop abruptly to avoid a collision with a driver who didn’t stop at the intersection. I had to come to a complete stop for this driver. When I took my foot off of the brake and tried to drive on my car would not move. I had to shift gears put it in park and try again. I could hear the engine responding but the car wouldn’t move. When it did start to move forward slowly it was shaking very hard and I was only able to get 10 miles an hour. I had to be towed. And I kept thinking what if I was on the highway that day where the speed limit is 75mph.

We purchased new a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport which has a recall regarding the cvt transmission causing vehicle hesitation when accelerating increasing the risk of a crash. We began experiencing "hesitation when accelerating" along with a "transmission service required light" in November 2023. Upon contacting a Mitsubishi dealership, we were told by a service rep that the recall had already been performed on our vehicle and there was nothing else to do regarding the recall. I explained that the problem with the cvt had not been correctly repaired due to the fact that we are now experiencing the cause and affect issues that mandated the recall on the cvt power train. This is my wife's car and we are very concerned with this issue and the reluctance of Mitsubishi to correctly make the needed repairs under the recall notice.

The cvt transmissions aren't great. And goes out quite a bit. No warnings lights ever came on. Just a normal routine inspection to continue with being up to date with maintenance. This problem needs to be recalled.

I have 50,000 miles I’m the original owner, bought it new in 2020, I was leaving work, started my car, blue smoke came out my exhaust, when I drove home from work, on inclines, the car sputters & stalls like it’s about to lose power, accompanied by thick blue smoke, and engine noise. I suspect it’s the piston rings in the cylinder head or valve seals are bad. I think Mitsubishi used poor quality parts, piston rings don’t go bad at 50,000 miles neither does valve seals. Please help, im paying for a car I cant drive.

I am having a problem with accelerating while driving. Car starts to jerk or stutter while driving.

I was not able to accelerate at stop lights, which could have caused me to get hit from behind. In addition to this, I was unable to maintain a safe speed on the highway. My car would only get up to 40 miles per hour when the speed limit would be 60 to 70 miles per hour. Furthermore, my car was taken to the Mitsubishi dealership service center and was inspected. I was told that I needed a new transmission. Lastly, the day before I took my car in to get diagnosed the serve light on my car came on and said, “service transmission required. ”.
