I was driving on the highway on a trip and out of no where my car shuttered and then flashed service transmission soon, I pulled over and my car would no longer drive, reverse or go into neutral. The tow company reset my battery to try to reset my car system. After that my car wouldn’t really go past 60. I followed the tow truck to the nearest town and it stalled again at the light and I could no longer go at all, my car locked up and wouldn’t reset at that point. It’s an $1100 tow back home. The cvt transmission really needs to be rechecked and recalled. I’ve found too many issues and the same complaints but can’t find a recall on it at all.

While driving in the city limits around 35 miles an hour I had to stop abruptly to avoid a collision with a driver who didn’t stop at the intersection. I had to come to a complete stop for this driver. When I took my foot off of the brake and tried to drive on my car would not move. I had to shift gears put it in park and try again. I could hear the engine responding but the car wouldn’t move. When it did start to move forward slowly it was shaking very hard and I was only able to get 10 miles an hour. I had to be towed. And I kept thinking what if I was on the highway that day where the speed limit is 75mph.
We purchased new a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport which has a recall regarding the cvt transmission causing vehicle hesitation when accelerating increasing the risk of a crash. We began experiencing "hesitation when accelerating" along with a "transmission service required light" in November 2023. Upon contacting a Mitsubishi dealership, we were told by a service rep that the recall had already been performed on our vehicle and there was nothing else to do regarding the recall. I explained that the problem with the cvt had not been correctly repaired due to the fact that we are now experiencing the cause and affect issues that mandated the recall on the cvt power train. This is my wife's car and we are very concerned with this issue and the reluctance of Mitsubishi to correctly make the needed repairs under the recall notice.
The cvt transmissions aren't great. And goes out quite a bit. No warnings lights ever came on. Just a normal routine inspection to continue with being up to date with maintenance. This problem needs to be recalled.
Hesitation when pressing the accelerator. This is a recall that affects 2015-2016 Outlander sports but according to my VIN it isn't needed on this car. I regularly will slow to make a turn or to a stop light and when I try to go it can take 0. 5-5. 5 seconds before the car will actually move. This has led to a dozen times where I have almost been in an accident because of it.
I have 50,000 miles I’m the original owner, bought it new in 2020, I was leaving work, started my car, blue smoke came out my exhaust, when I drove home from work, on inclines, the car sputters & stalls like it’s about to lose power, accompanied by thick blue smoke, and engine noise. I suspect it’s the piston rings in the cylinder head or valve seals are bad. My car has been parked for months, dealership wants to charge me a diagnostic fee, I take uber or lyft to work mind you I have an open loan on this car that I’m still paying. I think Mitsubishi used poor quality parts, piston rings don’t go bad at 50,000 miles neither does valve seals. Please help, im paying for a car I cant drive.

I am having a problem with accelerating while driving. Car starts to jerk or stutter while driving.
My 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport transmission failed at 45,000 miles. I had my car diagnosed and was told I needed a new transmission. In addition, my safety was put at risk because my vehicle would not accelerate at a traffic light when needed to go. It would also not get up to speed when merging into the highway and it would not maintain the speed limit while driving. This was a very dangerous situation for me. I was not able to accelerate at stop lights, which could have caused me to get hit from behind. In addition to this, I was unable to maintain a safe speed on the highway. My car would only get up to 40 miles per hour when the speed limit would be 60 to 70 miles per hour. Furthermore, my car was taken to the Mitsubishi dealership service center and was inspected. I was told that I needed a new transmission. Lastly, the day before I took my car in to get diagnosed the serve light on my car came on and said, “service transmission required. ”.

We (driver and passenger) were pulling into a parking lot and going very slowly about to stop and get out of car. Suddenly and unexpectedly the car accelerated out of control and at an abnormal speed. The air bags deployed, smoke filled the cabin. After the police arrived and the car was towed, liberty mutual insurance company took title to the car. We were lucky to survive because the car ran into a cement wall from the sudden acceleration and went up into the trees and then backed down and hit the ground. It has hesitation when accelerating and stuttering while driving. Its throwing a code po868 for the transmission. It's a cvt transmission, and it feels like a transmission slip at times, or it takes off then hesitates then goes again. Other times it stutters. Its a risk because now our chances of being in a accident increases. Until it threw the code there were no issues then all the sudden there was the issue.
My wife and I were at the beach when the truck started jerking really bad. I knew from the motion that transmission was locking up. We stayed 2 nights until we tried to make it home and it would slip in and out of gear. Transmission maintenance light came on and once we made a complete stop. I think the problem it’s on the transmission as the car is presenting hesitation and shuddering when accelerating, also it’s presenting rev fluctuations when driving at a constant speed, fortunately my safety and the safety of others is good until now. Yes the problem has being confirmed, no the vehicle has not being inspected by by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, there wasn’t any indication or warnings prior to the failure.
The transmissions in these vehicles are junk and very dangerous. I was driving out of town and all of a sudden the rpm´s started revving up. Then I tried to slow down and pull over and the vehicle did not want to down shift and it stalled on the highway with traffic. This is not the first time the transmission went out on the same vehicle. I had a hard time finding a transmission to put in and when I did it only lasted a year. Please, you can not put these cars out there with this type of transmission in them. They are junk. Please make this right.

I bought the vehicle in November 2022 with 88000 miles. This vehicle is dangerous and going to kill someone. I owned it 4 months and had to have it taken to 3 different dealerships 7 times in 6 weeks because it would die without warning while driving. It left me stranded in 2 different states and I was told every time nothing could be found as to why this would happen. However, there were several codes that came up that lead me and my mechanic to believe the transmission was failing. The dealerships did not want to fix it under my warranty so they told me nothing was wrong. I believe they also did this so that when I inevitably got them to take it back, they would have no paper trail of horrific problems to have to disclose when reselling it. I had to fight to get a new car and I was told this car would be sold wholesale and the issues would be disclosed. They were not. The dealer who bought it had no idea. Upon reaching out to them, they have made the decision to return it to the wholesale company they got it from. If nothing can be done from the NHTSA side, I will continue to track the VIN and tell everyone what has occurred until that car is disposed of. Please, I implore you to get ahold of this car and scrap it completely. Someone will die if this car continues being sold as nothing was fixed and nothing was disclosed about the issues with it. Get this car off the streets. It is not safe to drive.
2015 Mitsubishi Outlander sport is having problems shifting and accelerating. There is a transmission service needed light that comes on the dash when turned on. Recently it would not go over 40 - 45 mph, and continued to go slower. I had to turn the car off and back on which helped a little. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they confirmed the faulty transmission and they gave me a printed quote for a new transmission. The mileage is at 101162 and the main problem is when I try to reach 65 mph speed I feel the transmission goes back to a lower speed so I always stock with 40 - 45 mph and so hard to accelerate again. We own another 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander sport with 196k miles on it and never faced any transmission issues we always change the j4 fluid and the filter on time. For sure there's something wrong with this year's model (2015) from the manufacturer because our 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander sport with 196k miles is still sharp.
Transmission not shifting properly make the car disengage while driving.
I was on the freeway and all of the sudden the transmission stopped working and I was unable to get to the side of the road safely do to loss of power and traffic conditions. There was transmission warning light that came on and right after that when I pressed on the acceleration the engine would rev, but there was no reaction to the gears. This resulted in me being stuck in an active lane of traffic and nearly being hit several times. I called the police and informed them because I didn’t want to cause an accident but do to another accident I was stranded for 50 minutes in the active lane of traffic. Apparently this is a known issue with this transmission but the manufacturer is not responding and issued a recall like it needs to. Something like this could get someone seriously injured or killed! I’m lucky no one was injured in my situation but on a very busy freeway something like this could cause a huge pile up if a car all of the sudden is just stopped in the middle of the road. Who knows how many people could be hurt or die in a situation like that happening.

Whenever I was attempting to pull out into traffic the Outlander had little power to the point where in the middle of the turn it hesitated to accelerate so much that I was afraid I would get hit so I had no choice but to swerve over to the shoulder to avoid a collision. I took it to two different Mitsubishi dealers and were told by both that they could not find any problems with the transmission even though I know what I have been through with the lack of power ,hesitating, and noises that I have recorded on my phone coming from the transmission when I change gears.

Driving Nov 6 and I heard a noise, almost thought I hit a pot hole or something, come to a red light and dmy car . Akes a whining noise and will not go. I put in a claim to my insurance company which was denied before they even looked at the car, I called back and made an adjuster look at the car because I had already been told that the transmission was going to cost about $7,000. I'm a single mother of two kids and I just finished paying that car off. So then I start reading about recalls after my insurance company denied the claim I've been without a car for about 4 weeks and I find out about the so many recalls that Mitsubishi had with the Outlander just I'm outside of the date of manufacturer so then I find this safety recall sr-17-005 for 2015 Outlander campaign c1606z. Even when you look at the adjustice quote that I attached he doesn't have any idea what happened to the car he's saying now that it's the whole the whole transaxle that needs to be replaced not just the transmission so he's caught in a job at like $10,000 and I think my car is only worth between four and six why wouldn't he just total my car.
