5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2018

After about two months of having my vehicle to repair recalls, my service advisor informs me that the recalls will not be completed due to the absence of a specific code. I was informed of the recalls and the risks they create without repair; however, Nissan is still refusing to do them. This specific recall can cause the engine to stop running without warning during operation which would result in a crash. I have been compliant and patient with Nissan, and I feel taken advantage of. The service manager and my service advisor have both seen the problems first-hand while driving my car themselves. After speaking with corporate Nissan, Nissan still wants me to take my vehicle back to drive until the code appears. Having common sense, and a toddler, I do not think this is a Smart or safe decision. I would like the recalls completed as I was originally promised.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2017

We purchased a 2003 Nissan Altima, after making a stop on the way home, 3 hours away, the car would not restart. We were stationary in a residential parking lot. Had it towed to a certified Nissan dealership in northern virginia and it was determined it was the crankshaft/camshaft positioning sensors. Nissan would not honor the recall because our Altima has the 3. 5 v6. Apparently the recall is only for the 4cyl. Well guys, the sensors in the v6s don't work either. So after paying the $1,068. 17 repair cost and multiple trips back and forth to northern virginia (if you have ever been there you know traffic is horrible) we finally brought the car home. Bad business!!.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2016

My wife was driving our Nissan Altima with our kid when all of a sudden the car started to stutter and then it just stopped in the middle of the road. Luckily the car behind her did not hit her. She was able to start the car again after a few minutes and then was able to drive it home. After she reached home, I then took the car to a nearby auto shop when the car just stopped again in the middle of crossing an intersection. The steering wheel was stiff and it could not be turned. I tried to start the car but it wouldn't start. I waited for a few minutes and then I was able to start and drive the car. I turned on the hazard lights and then drove the car to the auto shop. The mechanic mentioned the cam shaft sensor was bad and upon searching online I found similar drivers mentioned the same issue and that there has been a recall on this. I have all the paper work from the mechanic as proof that this was the same problem as mentioned in this link. . Read more...

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2016

Loss of all power while driving.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2015

My Nissan Altima 2003 2. 5 sl has been experiencing lot of vibrations and power lost while traveling on city streets and highways, the problem seems get worse once your exit the highway sitting at the light the car want idle. It seems like it wants to shut off. Now my engine check light comes on so I took the car to tire plus car care, they told me the ecm program is out dated and the code they read indicate new program update and possible catalytic converter problem, I took my car to have catalytic converter changed $400. 00 dollars they cleared the engine check light and said this should take care of the vibration and engine idle problem, one week later engine check light came back on, problems of vibration has gotten worse. I decided to take the car to courtesy Nissan dealer had them to perform diagnoses service person told me the ecm was out dated so I paid $120. 00 dollars to update ecm program, the service person told me the vibration is because maybe the throttle body (power valve screw) may be going bad and if power loss happen again I will need to replace the throttle body at my expense. Note: I have done some research and found Nissan north America (in their voluntary service campaign papers) refers to it as the power valve. There are small screws on the valve that come loose and get sucked into the engine. Even though the 2002 through the 2005 Altima 2. 5s' all have the qr25de 2. 5s engine (which is the exact same engine with the exact same problems), the manufacturer, in this case nna is able to loophole the laws concerning a recall. Like in my case and other people's cases, we have the 2002 and 2003 Altima that is experiencing this problem, but nna won't take care of it even though they are aware of it and currently have a vsc on the 2004 and 2005 models.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2015

Car suddenly stops while your fmdriving at a low speed. Check engine comes on andturns vehicle off. This is very dangerous and I font understand why it hasnt been recalled. Most of the comments are said to be either the camshaft or crankshaft. They replaced the part and it was fine for 3 months and it ccontinues to do it. Im going to end up causing an accident and Nissan doesnt even care. . . .

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2015

I purchased a 2003 Nissan Altima with 106,000. As is no warranty. Within the first month it blew the head and needed a new engine which I paid for out of pocket. They supposedly replaced the enigine with a new crate engine once again the car lasted about 3 weeks before it was smoking so bad and will only drive at idle speed. . I dont think the place I bought it has a very good mechanic and I really would rather take it to a Nissan dealer. . But I dont want to pay for another engine I feel like ive already bought the car twice.

The floor boards rotted out, just found out about it, give it a few more months. I can become fred flintstone and start pushing my car around when the camshaft/crankshaft sensor goes out again. Both sensors have been replaced and still had not corrected the problem. Brought the car in today and was told there are no recalls for your car. That's interesting when you can't go anywhere and you are sitting at a light with traffic behind you. That's were meet the flintstones comes in, using foot power to move the car.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2014

Malfunction indicator light is on. Drove to a repair shop to get a diagnostic analysis on the engine. I was told the reason for the indicator light was because I had a bad crank sensor. There is a recall for that so, I called the dealership and they ran my VIN number and told me there was no recall for my car and I explained the situation to him they still wasn't going to fix it. Then I called the Nissan recall place and she said the same thing. So now what do I suppose to do now.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2014

On Jun 29, 2014 our family of four (along with my wife and 2 kids) were in this 2003 Nissan Altima driving on the expressway at around 55mph. All of a sudden, without any warning, the engine stopped. Pressing on the accelerator did not do anything. Cars were all over the expressway, zipping through at a high speeds. A very scary situation. Somehow, we were able to pull over to the side of the expressway without any incident, but it could have been very fatal to my entire family. Once pulled over to the side, I called my insurance CO. To send us a tow truck. While I was placed on hold, after a few mins we were able to restart the car and were able to drive home. Next day, I called Nissan company and told them about my incident and they said there are no recalls on my car and they suggested that I take it to a mechanic. I took it to a mechanic and they ran diagnostic test and found out that cam shaft sensor was bad and they replaced it at my cost. I'm very disappointed with Nissan as to how my car is not part of recall even though the engine just cut out with out any warning putting my family at great danger (possibility of severe injuries or even death) and Nissan does not want to take responsibility.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2013

Crankshaft sensor not on recall yet 1000's have this problem.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2013

Crank camshaft sensor was replaced due to having problems starting vehicle. Vehicle still continues to have problems starting. Always need multiple attempts to start. I am afraid vehicle will completely shutoff in traffic since I commute so much on highways. There is a high chance of an accident. Nissan refuses to include my VIN number on recall list. This is completely absurd.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2013

This problem started gradually it would just turn off while I was driving without any warning. In the middle of traffic it was scary. Thank god it would turn back on right away. I decided to see if doing a oil change spark plugs and air filter would help it didn't . One Saturday on September 21 of this year on lunch break I need to come home really quick it stopped before I made it home it would not turn back on at all! I called the tow truck he was able to make it turn back on. I took it to auto zone they said my battery was bad so I bought a new one. It continued to stop on me. It would run for a few days without stopping at all until just a few days ago it didn't want to start at all thought it was the fuel pump. Now that has been checked off the list. The engine light has then turned on and the codes that is being read out is for a recall that was issued in December 22 of 2003 r 3022 / Infiniti what can I do?.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

I was driving on the highway, 60 mph, coming back from a friend's house when the car started shaking violently I felt like I was in a lot of danger so I got off the highway and came home through the streets, even though it was shaking a lot. While I was going home the engine felt so weak and sounded like a diesel truck. After research online I found out that many 02 and 03 Altima owners are experiencing the same problem because of the butterfly valve in the throttle body went into the engine, Nissan north America refuses to address the problems in the 2002 and 2003 models even though they have recalled the 04 and 05 models with the exact same engine in the 02 and 03 models!!!! please help the 02 and 03 Nissan Altima owners because Nissan north America is refusing to help even though they know the engine has major problems!.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2012

Car began to idle roughly and was hard to start. Replaced oxygen sensors which did not cure symptoms. Was told that the 2 pre-cats (catalytic converters) needed replaced. Motor mounts also recommended. Replaced and problem persisted. Hard to start, runs rough now shutting down while driving. Ran codes myself with obd-ii tool and found crankshaft and camshaft position sensors to be faulty. I heard of a recall for this very issue; even described my symptoms exactly. Even though my year model and car was recalled the Nissan of fort worth service desk told me my VIN # was not covered. My car has the exact same engine as all of the other Nissans made in this year range and the same faulty crankshaft and camshaft sensors but for some unknown reason mine are not covered by this. How is this even possible. I have replaced a lot of pricey parts all which may have been avoided by replacing the sensors. Even if I had to pay for the crank and camshaft sensors it would not have been bad if I had not paid over $3000 in repairs to other stuff that may not have needed replacing.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2012

While at a red light, the car unknowingly stopped! I didn't even know until the light turned green and I attempted to pull off. I put the car in park and resterted the car with no issue. A couple days later the engine started a slight shake and each day the shake became more intense and the engine would shut off when driven for a while & while my feet is on the break the meter would jump from 0 to 2 and shut off wen it hit 0. Also while attempting to pull off the car feels like it's stuck then it'll shoot off.
