Like many others my 2003 Nissan Altima has stalled in traffic while driving. It reads no codes. There could have been a serious accident! this is a major concern I could have been on the interstate or in having traffic. I called Nissan and they state there was a recall for a problem to this affect and it was already fixed on this vehicle in 2007. They will not fix it again. Unbelieveable! also like many other my floor board has rusted. I had a patch repair to pass inspection. This car is a saftey hazord. After reading numerous reports that others have experienced similar situations of cutting off in traffic! I have not read any fatalities yet thank goodness! recall this car befor someone is killed!.

Car stalled two times within 20 minutes when slowing car down to make a turn. Meineke and paul miller Nissan of fairfield, CT identified that parts 23731-al61a (crankshaft/camshaft sensor) and 23731-6j90b (camshaft posaition sensor) need to be replaced. These sensors were part a recall for the same make, year and model of car that I own. Nissan n. A. Claims that my VIN was not a part of the recall. 630,000+ vehicles were affected by this recall but my vehicle does not apply. On line complaints suggests that the exact same complaint keeps reoccurring but Nissan has not expanded there VIN registery to include all cars that are affected. Spoke with Nissan n. A. Case expediter who stated my vehicle VIN was not on the affected list although my complaint was the same as those vehicles on the list. Nissan representative would not tell me where my part was made and where the defective parts were in fact made. Claimed that this was internal Nissan information that they had no obligation to give me.

When I slowed down to take a right turn, my Nissan Altima stalled all of a sudden. My steering and brakes got locked. I could not start it immediately. . Behind me was a cargo truck however at a more gap distance so that he could bring his truck to a halt before rear bumping me. I could have been killed if it was on a highway or if the speeds were higher. This car has given me starting problems. Nissan told that my VIN is not covered in any recall campaign, so I had get the cam shaft sensor & crank position sensor replaced at a local mechanic. After that I still face stalling problems, engine starting problems. My battery health is good and the engine cranks, but does not fire. Pissed off with this car.

In the past 2. 5 years I've had to replace 2 coils on 2 different cylinders, and 2 different crankshaft position sensors as well. Each time it's cost me upwards of $300 each incident. A review of the internet website for complaints from Nissan drivers of the same vehicle make/model/year indicates that others have also run into these issues without any recompense. Some even had their cars stalling out while driving, which is obviously a safety concern. "luckily" (and note that I use the term in quotes), my experience has been that the engine starts running rough, feeling like on just 3 of its 4 cylinders, then the "service engine soon" light comes on. It was then always obvious something was really wrong. Q: why wasn't this a recall item for the Nissan engine? p. S. I have less than 60k miles on my car and it's in pristine condition and always garaged.
Car stalls at red light twice. Later, stalls but doesn't go dead. Gas won't work. Month later crankshaft sensor, transmission oil, fluid and screen was replaced, but when driven afterwards it stalled again.

My car stalled at a stoplight twice, both while stopped at the light. The car suddenly turned off at the stoplight so I put it in park and restarted it. It started back fine. Then it turned off again after a few seconds. Turned back on again and nothing happened again for one week. Then the car stalled out while in motion! it stalled out as I accelerated after turning onto a road traveling about 30mph. Also stalled out three days ago while idling in a drive-thru.

Like many other complaints, my car stalled on highway at 70 mph speed and stalls at intersections and low speeds or will not start. I can't believe Nissan or NHTSA has not got serious about this issue. I checked your database and found following compliant numbers with same issue of Altimas stalling due to crank or cam sensor failure. (odi id numbers: 10416743, 10384742,10370526,10342438,10332467, 10318898, 10318045, 10314479, 10283487, 10278805, . . . . . And many more). I am lucky to be alive. I am sure there are my accidents and deaths that did not get reported due to this manufacturers defect. This is a very unsafe and dangerous problem that could lead to many deaths. I hope NHTSA looks into this and get it fixed.

2003 Nissan Altima. Consumer states engine stopped while driving the consumer stated his wife was driving over railroad tracks, when the vehicle suddenly stalled. She was almost rear ended, but was able to maintain control of the vehicle. The consumer would like for Nissan to replace the part(s) under previous recall 06v242000 and admit the presence of an ongoing safety hazard.
Recently while driving my ses light came on. I took my vehicle to the nearest service center and had them read the codes which were 0725 engine speed sensor and 0335 crank shaft position sensor. Upon looking into the problem I found that this is a common problem with many Nissan owners, particularly the Altima models. Nissan has issued a recall to reprogram the ecm free however this does not solve the problem. The problem is the crankshaft sensor, and Nissan should be responsible for replacing the defective part (the part has been modified from plastic to metal because of other complaints however they will not cover the replacement, ridiculous!) this is particularly dangerous due to the fact that I can cause the car to stall randomly while driving, which has happened to me on two occasions (luckily not in heavy traffic of on the highway! but it has happened in more serious situations to others).
Tl- the contact owns a 2003 Nissan Altima. While driving 50 mph, the contact stated the vehicle suddenly lose all power and stalled without warning. The contact owns a 2003 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the mass air flow sensor was replaced a total of three times. The contact also stated that the vehicle would lose power and stall when the failure occurred. In addition, the vehicle would jerk and would not accelerate beyond 45 mph. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer after each failure, but after the final failure, the contact was informed that the part was not available. The dealer also stated that the mass air flow sensor for the 2004 Infiniti i35 would correct the failure, but the manufacturer would not allow them to place that part on the 2003 Nissan Altima. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 55,000.
This situation has happened a few times; I park my car (turn engine off) do groceries, shopping, etc, come back, I turn the car on and the car is like stalling, like its idle but you can feel the shaking on the steering wheel. I didn't want to drive on this situation. I turned the engine off, turn it back on and still the same situation. I have to wait 3-5 minutes with engine off, then I turn it on and the car starts working normal. There is no "service engine soon" light on the dashboard. This is happening time to time. At first I thought it could be someting with the gasoline in the tank, that is not the case because I left my tank almost to empty and load a new tank, different gas station and still does the same. I called the dealer where I bought it, asked for any recalls on my car's model/year. They say no recalls for this year/model. I started searching for similar problems and I read a few articles that the '02 models have been recalled for similar issues, also that the same '03 model in canada has been recalled and serviced for same issue. Although I cannot prove that what I read is true, I believe this problem should be checked by Nissan dealership maintenance centers since there is no alert signs on the dashboards.
The contact owns a 2003 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled and completely stopped. The vehicle was towed to a local repair shop where the contact was informed that the engine contained no oil. The oil had been changed three months prior to the failure. The mechanic stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact called the manufacturer who told him to take the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
2003 Nissan Altima VIN# [xxx] . Loss of power and stalling at low speed. Obd codes show p0725 and p0335 which are engine speed sensor circuit malfunction and crankshaft position sensor circuit malfunction. Problem appears to be covered by previous recall rq06001 or 06v24200 however Nissan denies that this vehicle is included in the recall notice.
We have a 2003 Nissan Altima with a " malfunction in the crank position sensor a circuit" (obd2 code po335) which causes the vehicle to stall out while in drive creating a very unsafe driving condition. Nissan has a recall but all they will do is reprogram the ecm which doesn't fix problem. Either the circuit needs to be repaired/replaced or the sensor needs to be replaced. There have been many complaints about this problem and we feel it is Nissan's responsibility to remedy it. . . So far we have not had any luck in getting it resolved. . .
Crank shaft sensor failure. The service engine soon (ses) light came on at approx. 69,300 miles on 7/9/09. On 7/11/09 after driving the vehicle locally during the day, had parked it for about 90 minutes. Started the vehicle and all of the dashboard indicators remaied on. I shut off the car, and tried to restrat it. The car tried to start, but the engine would not run. It took about 5 times of turning the key and letting the car try to start for about 10 seconds each time before the engine kicked on. This time the dahboard display was normal. I drove the car straight home (1 mile). I did not try to start the car again until I took it to the shop on 7/13/09. On 7/15/09 I was advised that the ses code was the crank shaft sensor and the cost to replace is $250. The part was to come from a Nissan dealership (not aftermarket). They checked the VIN and although early 2003 Altima's are covered by a recall mine is not. Further internet searches have shown that this problem is rampent. Nissan needs to cover this! I am fortunate that I did not continue to operate my vehicle and have it stall in traffic as many others have. This is a safety issue and Nissan must expand their coverage of the repair. My car is properly maintained, and I have no problem paying for wear and tear. Known defects such as this should be covered.
My 2003 Nissan Altima stalls at lights, going slow, does not restarts sometimes, surges forward while driving. The dealer told me the crank sensor needs is faulty, cost 225 dollars with labor. I see some 2003 Altimas with a different engine has a voluntary recall from Nissan, but not mine. On the Nissan help. Com website there are 40= pages of complaints regarding the same thing on many years of these vehicles with alot of safety concerns. I think all their sensors are bad and all these years Altima vehicles should be recalled.
My vehicle suddenly stalled while traveling about 55 miles per hour. It was diagnosed as a bad camshaft sensor. . . The sensor was replaced. It works for a while then the same problem happened about 6 months later, then again about 6 months later and again 6 months later. In one case I only narrowly avoided a crash because my car stalled in the middle of a busy street. Now 4 years later we have replaced the cam shaft sensor 6 times and have the same problem. My mechanic did research and found vehicle of my same make and model were part of a recall for this problem recall 01v357 and follow up recall 33411. Nissan keeps telling me my car isn't affected. I seriously feel it should be. This is obviously the problem I am having. Despite repeated calls to Nissan they will not look at my car without charging me or consider adding it to the recall. My car is no longer operable because it stalls so violently, I am afraid I will crash and put my family in danger. Please help!.
