36 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2009

There was a recall r0712. I have seen multiple complaints on the web associated with the crankshaft sensor going out. My check engine light is on and reading error code p0335 is directly associated with r0712 reprogramming. I called Nissan and they stated it would cost me $200. 00 to fix.

I rec'd letter stating 05 Nissan Altima are being recalled. I took vehicle in to dealership (north texas Nissan in corinth, TX). They fixed it and stated everything was okay. Couple days later car just cut off on me at redlight and while I was driving. Check engine light came on took it back to dealership they said they couldn't help me and to make an appt. And bring in Monday. I did, came in at 9 am, service advisor told me it would cost $98 for diagnostic test. It came back stating it was crank and cam shaft sensor. Nissan corp. Want pay for it; stating our vehicle wasn't the VIN #s that were recalled. So we have to pay for the sensors. I will never but another Nissan again. Nissan corp weren't apologetic, couldn't ans. My questions. Something needs to be done this.

38 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2008

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall intermittently with the illumination of the check engine light. The vehicle would restart almost immediately on most occasions. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where the transmission and engine were replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer where the entire computer was replaced yet the failure recurred. The contact believed the failure to be associated with NHTSA campaign id number: 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling) but received no assistance from the manufacturer. The contact did not confirm if the VIN was included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000 and the current mileage was approximately 216,000.

39 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2008

I received a recall notice for my 2005 Nissan Altima. It warned of serious problems that might arise from a defect that makes the engine possibly shut off while driving. I had it fixed several weeks ago, but check engine light remained on and car otherwise was hiccuping in traffic. I returned today, and they charged me $250!! for fixing something called a crankshaft sensor. Such sensor was, as I understand it, part of the recall problem. Yet, it has been explained to me that even though this recall is related to the sensor issue, replacing the sensor itself is not considered part of what is covered by the recall. If that's the case, I don't get the point of the recall. It obviously is more about money making and/or saving face without paying to fix a dangerous problem. I have seen others with these same complaints on line. I'd just like to add my complaint to the many others so that something might be done.

40 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2008

Recall notice on resetting a ecm unit because crankshaft sensor could shutoff car while driving. My crankshaft sensor was bad, I had it replaced because the check engine light came on.

41 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2008

My car was running fine until I got in my car one day and it would barely crank. It took it a minute, but it finally did. That happened several times. Then, while driving to work, my car shut off in the middle of the highway, while driving. This is extremely scary and I am not understanding why this is happening. My local Nissan dealership will not look at it because my check engine light is on. Well, my light didn't come on until this started happening. What is happening to my car fits the description of the recall to a tee. I have gone to a mechanic shop and they have told me that being what is wrong with my car will make the check engine light come on. My complaint is that the dealership will not look at it or fix it because of the check engine light. This needs to be fixed and hopefully soon. I carry young children in my car and its the only mean of transportation I have. I don't need something to happen while doing this. Thank you for your time.

42 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2008

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. The contact received a safety recall notice for NHTSA campaign id number 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling). She took her vehicle to the dealer and noticed that her check engine soon light was illuminated. She was informed that she would have to have the vehicle repaired before the recall repair could be performed. The failure mileage was 88,000.

43 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2008

The "check engine soon" light came on my vehicle on Monday so I contacted the Nissan dealership and made an appointment, at which time they told me it would cost $99 to do a diagnostic test. On Wednesday, I received in the mail a recall notice on the vehicle that had to do with the engine. On Thursday I contacted the dealer and they stated that they would have to perform the diagnostic test for $99 first and then do the recall inspection because it did not have anything to do with the engine light being on. However, it seems that since the recall is free, they should do that first and then perhaps that actually is the problem. I feel that the recall, having to do with the engine, might be the cause of the light turning on. I like having my vehicle serviced at the dealer where I purchased it, but feel they are not being forthright about the recall situation.

44 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2007

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the check engine warning light would illuminate followed by the vehicle stalling. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign id number: 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling) in December 2007. The dealer repaired the ecm for a second time in July 2009 however, the vehicle continued to stall. The dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not further repaired. The current mileage was 116,000 and the approximate failure mileage was unknown.

45 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2007

I experienced an incident before that my car stalled but it restarted quickly. Then few weeks later my car stalled again but this time did not want to start up as quickly as before and my check engine soon light came on this time. As soon as it started up again I went straight to the dealership where I bought the car. On my way over there I was driving on the freeway and I felt my car loosing power and it jerked back. I was very afraid that my car would stall out while I was driving on the freeway. I went to the dealership and explain my situation but they were not able to help at that time because they were booked up. I left and went to auto zone and they performed a diagnostic test on my car. The reason my check engine light came on was due to malfunction of the crankshaft position sensor on my 2005 Nissan Altima. Next morning I went back to the dealership and they performed a diagnostic test too and concluded the same thing. They replaced it with a new crankshaft position sensor. The check engine light is off and the car runs smoother and has not yet stalled out.

46 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2006

Car stalling at in traffic, stop lights, and while driving. I was told to replace air filter and have fuel injector service. I did. Car began stalling again. I was told to have throttle body cleaned. I did. Engine light on . Hose put back on. Engine light on again. Was told there was code for idle valve but they didn't know how to address it. They reset computer. Car stalling again. Barely made it across intersection to get to dealership. Nissan replaced air filter, cleaned fuel injectors (again) and replaced crack shaft sensors. I just got car today. The car stalling while driving seems a bit dangerous.

47 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2005

The car failed to start after owning the car for 13 months. The car acted as if it was flooded, cranking but not firing. To start the car I had to hold the gas pedal down until the car fired and started. The failure occurred after recently purchasing gasoline. We only use 2-3 different gas stations with good reputations. It seemed to happen the first cold spell of November 2005. The dealer said these circumstances shouldn't cause flooding and if the check engine light didn't come on they couldn't do anything to help us. The problem has not recurred but as a precaution, I ran the gas tank almost empty and put in a bottle of gas treatment. I also plan, if possible, on buying my gas from only one source from here on out.
