1 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle stalled without warning, but was able to be restarted. The dealer stated that the cam and crankshaft needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

2 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

Rough idle. 3 years ago it did the same thing and I had the 0'2 sensors replaced and the crankshaft position sensor replaced. I drive it in town so in the 3 years I have put about 25,000 miles on it. The service engine soon light is on now and Nissan told me that I need to take it to a dealership and pay them to check out the engine and send Nissan the results and they "may" reimburse me for the cost of checking it out. I just replaced the spark plugs last week because I was told them needed replaced. It ran fine for a little while now back to same things. I have noticed that it leaks a little oil, about the size of a nickel over the course of 2-3 days. There is also oil round the crankcase. Wondering why might be. Thanks.

3 Crankcase (pcv) problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2008

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Altima. There is an open recall on this vehicle, and, although the contact's vehicle was experiencing identical failures as listed in the recall, the VIN was not included. When she attempted to start the vehicle, the engine would not turn over. The check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer and the mechanic stated that the camshaft sensor needed to be replaced. In July of 2008, the crankshaft sensor was replaced at an authorized dealer. The vehicle is in the process of being serviced. The VIN and recall number were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 52,000.
