37 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2014

The crankshaft position sensor is malfunctional. Upon research, it was discovered other owners of the same vehicle experienced the same problem. It appears the issue could be fatal and lead to serious crashes as the failed part may cause the vehicle to stop abruptly and shut off the engine. There has been a Nissan recall related to the problematic part. However, the recall only fixed the engine control module by reprogramming it. The recall did not resolve the fundamental problem that is the crankshaft position sensor.

38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

Crank shaft position sensor had to be replaced due to engine not starting at times, and cutting out at stop lights which was a safety issue in traffic. After talking with Nissan I was informed that this VIN number was not included jn campaign number 07v5727000 and I feel it should have been. This part was replaced by a private auto repair in October 2014 for a total of $250. 09. I had purchased the car in April of 2014 from a Toyota used car dealership and started experiencing the problem shortly thereafter. Please help me recover my money for repairs.

39 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2013

Driving on dry road at speed engine suddenly stopped. Pulled over to side and before car fully stopped put into neutral and engine restarted. Then placed back in drive and continued 50 miles with no further problem that day. On 12/15 while on interstate the engine stopped again with much more danger as traffic was coming up on our rear. Managed to get into breakdown lane and while going 15/20 mph placed the transmission into neutral and engine restarted and proceeded 50 miles to home. Brought into Nissan dealer on 12/18 and they claimed they checked it out and could find no problems. Nissan customer service opened a case #[xxx] but has not returned calls after the Nissan dealer diagnostics. The car is a danger to ourselves and others but it is our only vehicle. 40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

41 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2013

I own a 2006 Nissan Altima ser. I have had the motor replaced and the entire clutch kit and slave cylinder replaced. After having the clutch parts replaced the pedal stuck to the floor a small handful of times. Now, it is nearly a daily occurrence and it is consistently lasting longer and longer each time. It still allows for sporadic shifting in non specific gears while the pedal is on the floor. I can pick up the pedal with my foot and put it back in place but when it apply any pressure it falls back to the floor and stays there until I pick it back up with my foot. This issue has nearly caused to be in several accidents, all of which I narrowly avoided by quickly maneuvering my vehicle off the road.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2013

I was driving at approx 25 mph when all of a sudden the engine cutoff with no warning. Was able to coast the car to the side of the road, restart, and drove to dealership immediately. Dealership diagnosis error code p0335 camshaft and crankshaft sensor failures and needed to be replaced for $570 (plus the $110 diagnosis fee). A recall exists for same make and model, but car VIN is excluded. This problem seems to be very common and widespread after doing some online research. The dealership's parts manager also stated this was a very common problem. I find it very disturbing that Nissan would knowingly risk passenger safety by not recalling and covering the cost of repair for a well maintained car that is having the same issue as others in the same make and model year.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

I had a recall on my 2006 Nissan Altima 2. 5l & I took it to the dealer in 2010 because the car engine will shut off when driven. It occurred multiple times & several times it occurred on a highway going at 60 miles per hours. I took it in to the dealer & the changed the part because of the recall. After battling for month to get my money back form the dealer the problem is occurring again. In 2012. I tried to trade it in but they under valued my car because of the recall history at $2,500. I need help & Nissan is refusing to pay full trade value on a recall. All I want is the problem fix permanently instead of having this ongoing problems. Nissan is not taking my concern seriously & I am getting rob on a problem that is not my fault.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2012

52 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2010

On sept 3rd 2010 (labor day weekend), I drove on I-17 (az) at about 70 mph for about half an hour. The car suddenly lost the acceleration. No matter how hard I pressed the gas pedal, there is no acceleration. The engine service light was on and the car quickly decelerate. I had to turn on emergency light and moved out. Then I went to autozone and had the code read. P2138, error with pedal position sensor and throttle position sensor. I had to drive locally to send the car to the power Nissan at tempe (dealer) for repair. They could not find problems but turned off the engine light and returned the car to me. On July 4th 2013 (independence day), I drove on highway 87 at about 70 mph for 1 hour and the same problem occurred. The car suddenly lost acceleration. Engine service light was on. I had to drive back at no more than 40mph or the deceleration occurred at higher speed. I went to autozone again for code reading. Same code p2138. Then I sent the car to sears. Sears replaced gas pedal sensor and throttle body. On September 1st 2013 (labor day weekend), I drove on highway 101 at 70mph for 1 hour and the same problem occurred. The car suddenly lost acceleration. Engine service light was on. Sears got the same error code p2138. Sears re-trained the electronic sensor program. On September 10th 2013, I sent the car for emission test. During the test when technician press gas pedal, engine service light was on. Sears got the same error code p2138. Sears asked me to send the car to Nissan dealer. Nissan dealer (the same dealer but name changed to autonation Nissan at tempe) got the same code p2138. Nissan dealer re-trained the electronic sensor program and returned the car to me on September 12th 2013. On September 13th 2013, I tried the car on highway. Once it reached 70mph, the problem occurred for the 5th time. The car lost acceleration and engine service light was on.

56 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2009

On my 2006 Nissan Altima with 2. 5 liter engine, it would stop running at highway speeds from 70mph down to 5mph (in rush hour stop/go traffic). It also would intermittently fail to start properly by cranking for up to 45 seconds before start. This occurred over a period of 3 months and became worse quickly, with "service engine soon" on, so I took it to the dealership (grubbs Nissan, bedford, TX) where they diagnosed it as a faulty crankshaft position sensor (cps) so they replaced it for $204. 34 total. This cps is an ongoing problem that Nissan says my vehicle is not part of the recall # 07v527000; there are over 650k vehicles that are potentially affected and I know my issue is directly related to the problems with this vehicle. New sensor is in; old part is not available.

57 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2009

My brand new 2006 Nissan Altima 2. 5s consumes oil little by little. First noticed around 35,000 miles until present. I add oil after 1,500 miles around 100-150ml. I do my oil changes 100-200miles before it's due of 3,000 miles from the very beginning, took a good care of the car and now I'm getting this kind of trouble. I've no doubt I got a defective unit.

58 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2009

2006 Nissan Altima; engine style is the 2. 5l apparently there was a recall on this car; all dealing with the crankshaft position sensor; I was unaware of this; and now am stuck with footing the bill of a diagnostic and then the labor and parts fee. Nissan the dealership is not helping me at all and making me pay for this; not only that; but they are completely ignoring the issue at hand and not taking care of me; although I have purchased 2 vehicles from this particular location. I find it hard to believe that first I wasn't notified of the recall that happened in 2006 and second that I now have to pay for the mistake that they clearly made while others did not.

61 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2008

Recall id# 6827 on certain passenger vehicles equipped with a 2. 5l engine, the crankshaft position sensor can overheat causing a brief interruption in the signal output from the sensor. If the interruption in the signal from the crankshaft position sensor is so brief that the electronic control module (ecm) logic does not have time to diagnose the condition, the engine may stop running without warning while the vehicle is driven at a low speed increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will reprogram the ecm free of charge. Certain my 2006 Altimas which have been previously remedied under recall campaign 06v223 (Nissan r0606) are not included in this recall since the reprogramming for 06v223 also included this reprogramming. The recall began on December 31, 2007. Had ecm reprogrammed and my crankshaft position sensor is still overheating. Nissan should replace the sensor if the reprogramming does not work.

68 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2007

Recommended fix for the 2006 nissam Altima potential engine fire is to update the electronic contol module which will ensure the engine will go into limp mode in the event the oil levle drops to an unacceptable level. If the car goes in limp mode the engine rpms will not exceed 1800 rpms, this restriction will prevent the car from traveling more than 25 mph. If the vehicle goes into limp mode while traveling on a highway, the driver and passengers are put into a dangerous situation. Why is it acceptable for a car manufacturer to propose and institure a fix to a vehicle that compromises personal safety, and what recourse does the consumer have related to the proposed corrective action?.
