1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2021

I was driving down the road (in suburbs) when I came to a stop sign. I started noticing a little stutter when I approached the stop sign and started slowing down. This is a continuous problem whenever my car needs to accelerate after a stop (between 5-40 mph) or slow down to come to a complete stop. I haven't been on the highway since I noticed this problem because I am worried for my safety. I went to a mechanic immediately once I noticed the stutter and small jerks. The engine light is not on so when I described this to him he said he had to do an in depth read of my transmission. He ended up finding a code in my transmission that had picked up on the transmission slipping / stuttering.

7 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2019

On the way home as I exited highway my 2013 Altima 79000 miles started jerking upon slowing down to stop, on the move as well as when fully stopped. Next day I took it to the dealer ken ganley medina ohio, the car showed even more symptoms and totally stalled right in front of service door and wouldn't start. Similar problem happened in January 2016 at 59900 and then the same dealership service reset transmission module. The car was driving normal until now. Only this time I paid $177 for diagnostics just to hear what I already suspected: internal transmission failure. Cost of replacement $3995 plus tax. On the way home, my car completely died and had to be towed home. From 2012 to 2018, several modoels of Nissan vehicles received the continuously variable transmission, including the sentra, versa, versa note, Altima, rogue, and murano models. Some of the most common issues with the vehicles directly relate to the transmission. Reported issues include loss of power, transmission jerking, transmission slipping, cvt coolant hose leaks and failures, and a cvt error message being displayed. These problems call the Nissan cvt transmission reliability into question and can result in serious harm to unsuspecting drivers. Nissan extended the warranty on some of these vehicles equipped with the cvt transmission from 5 years or 60,000 miles to 10 years or 120,000 miles. The extension covers repairs, replacements, and towing for issues related to the continuously variable transmission. For the warranty to be effective, vehicle owners must take their Nissan to a dealership for repairs. Strangely enough, my VIN doesn't fall (?) under that category even it showed exact same failure. The dealer refused to follow that warranty in terms of replacement and/or providing a loaner car.

I called and it was a holiday and not opened. , finally got the vehicle in drive and attempted to drive it home with transmission slipping and motor dying in heavy bumper to bumper holiday traffic. On 01/02/2018 contacted Nissan north America, was advised to take vehicle to nearest Nissan dealership, and they would pay $100. 00 towards the record bill. I paid this wrecker bill out of my pocket with receipts. The vehicle was delivered to walter's Nissan 30 walter's lane pikeville, ky. 41501 on 01/03/2018 were it was evaulated and determined to be complete cvt transmission failure, and would be replaced. I have the Nissan security plus gold preferred vehicle service contract 60 months/75,000 miles, service contract # 0 7236319. This car has 68,000 miles on it, and the contract expired on 01/04/2018. 11 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2015

I purchased a 2013 Nissan Altima in September of 2015 with less than 43,000 miles. The car was really good gas and I was really happy with the purchase. In February of 2016 while me and my husband was driving in traffic we came to a stop and the car shut off. We started the car up fine but as soon as we placed the car in drive it shut off again. We repeated these steps over and over again until he was able to keep the car running while in drive so we could pull on the side of the road. We were very close to the warranty expiring so we took the car to antioch, CA Nissan dealership. They said that they would have to "duplicate" the problem before moving forward. They kept our car for 3 days to no avail. They said that they could not "duplicate" the problem and to come pick up the car. 2 days later we started experiencing the same problem. We decided to take the car to a different Nissan dealership in concord, CA hoping that we would get a different outcome. Needless to say they couldn't "duplicate" the problem for 2 weeks!! the guy in services admitted that they have many cars coming in with the same exact problem and he knew how to get the car to act up so that they could move forward. How crazy is that??? he called me 2 weeks later and told me that they had to "reset" the transmission system. He also told me that even though I was very close to my warranty expiring that if the problem occurs again that they would still honor the warranty because the problem pre-existed. Not even a whole 2 months passed when my husband and I were moving from California to texas did my car started having the exact same problems it had before but this time I noticed that the transmission was slipping. I was going 80 miles per hour on the freeway when my car slowed all the way down to 40 miles per hour while driving in front and on the side of a big rig!!!!.

12 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2013

Resuming after a stop the car was sluggish. It felt like the transmission was slipping. There were several strong jerking motions for a few seconds. Then when it fully engaged the car lurched forward at a higher than expected speed. I did not have enough reaction time to brake and I hit the car in front of me. I didn't realize what had happened at the time but since then the car has done the same thing starting out from a stop. It happens several times a week. I have to leave plenty of distance between me and the car in front to avoid another accident.

13 Transmission Gear Slipping problem
