1 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2020

I have 2013 Nissan Altima s. It has ~89k miles on it. The transmission stopped working on 10/11/2020. How can NHTSA assist? Nissan refused to provide any assistance. The cvts installed in the Nissan Altimas have caused a variety of problems - shaking, losing acceleration and stalling, among others - according to owners who are regularly posting complaints on websites such as autonews. Com, carcomplaints. Com, and cars. Com. Nissan Altima owners have secured a settlement offer from the carmaker which would resolve claims that the vehicles' transmissions fail prematurely. Lead plaintiffs alleged that 2013 through 2016 Nissan Altimas suffer from shuddering, hesitation, stalling, and noises stemming from defective continuous variable automatic transmissions. Vaccording to the Nissan class action, vehicles stall unexpectedly, causing them to stop in traffic without illuminating the brake lights. Vconversely, the defect could also allegedly cause an unexpected surge in power, causing drivers to lose control. Vvdespite consumer complaints, Nissan reportedly forced owners to pay for a $3,000 fix that often left them with more defective parts. Case # 42179365. Due to covid, my issue surfaced after 7 year deadline on may 11, 2020. This is wrong and Nissan will not take responsibility for it. I tried to work with madison at Nissan 615-725-7208. I am having the work done based on diagnosis from wright Nissan. The work will cost me about $3,500. Wiegand brothers transmission will replace the transmission. 445 rochester rd pittsburgh, PA 15237. 412-364-8000, 412-364-7399 email: wiegandtransmissions@yahoo. Com.

3 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2018

My car is a 2013 Nissan Altima and it just hit 90,000 miles. I purchased the car in March 2013 with 45,000 miles on it. May 25th my car started having trouble. It included going backwards when the car was in drive, losing power as I'm driving, reving/winding noise, and finally not moving at all. Everything pointed a problems with the transmission and to take it to a Nissan dealership. After doing the diagnostics, they said I needed to replace the transmission. Because my warranty ran out in March I asked about the cost of the replacement and was told it was $3,800. I spoke with Nissan consumer affairs on may 29th and was told that the regional consumer manager would call. Jason did call and said he had to research. On Tuesday, June 5th, the decision was that because the car was out of warranty they would not cover the transmission replacement. I asked him about the recall that was issued by Nissan in December 2016 acknowledging the cvt transmissions needed to be reprogrammed and if not it would lead to accelerated damage. I also made him aware that I never received that notice. His response was because I was not the original owner of the vehicle, I did not receive the recall notice. He would not answer how if Nissan knew that the cvt transmissions were a problem on some vehicles why did it matter that my warranty had expired in March. He also had no response to me saying that a normal transmission does not need to be replaced on a car that is only 5 years old and has not even hit 100,000 miles. So although it is a well known issue with some of the cvt transmissions, a recall that is on Nissan's website associated with my VIN number, the acknowledgement that I did not receive the recall notice to bring it in for service, I am stuck with a $3,800 repair bill if I want to fix my car.

4 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2018

On April 2018, I visit the Nissan del oeste at aguadilla pr to report noise in the power steering noise, no action was taken, they just said that was normal with all Nissan power steering pump. February 25, 2021 I contact Nissan del oeste at aguadilla pr and notify about the issue of the power steering noise and transmission noise. Appointment for March 2 2021 was set and I notify them with problem. They told me there was not any recall for power steering pump and cvt transmission. I did mention the recalls for 2013 Nissan Altima iaw NHTSA with ref. : st12-009b, ref:ntbb-0176 andTSB ntb12-081. They inform at the voucher the mileage in and out, they did not took the car for a run of 6 miles like it says on voucher 48133s. The main concern is that the car could have any situation with one of those parts just mentioned during a drive and cause any accident with out having the control. My question is, if there is a malfunction for my 2013 Altima that is already knowledge by Nissan motor comp. And provide recalls why my have to be exclude? the power steering noise is at every moment when on and running, power steering fluid is good. The transmmision is during the driving with some noise after 20 miles drive on highway between 65 to 70 mph and then pressing the brake, the noise feel like it come from the transmmision. Another situation is ocaccionaly some lowt of power and some times accelerate. Brakes pads are good, brake fluid is good. My car mpg is 31. 2 and mileage at this moment is 76,680.

5 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2018

Transmission making noises and causes car to stall I was in the center lane of highway car stalled almost was struck by semi-truck scared us to death I've since read many problems with these units very dangerous I think Nissan should have a recall to rectify this issue for public safety reasons.

6 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2017

My 2013 Nissan Altima, which was purchased new has had issues with the cvt transmission since it was purchased. In 9/2014 at 42k miles the transmission failed and was replaced. Now in 9/2017 I am being told by Nissan that the transmission that was replaced by them in 2014 is also bad and needs to be replaced at a cost to me of $4,100. 00. Who can afford a $4,100 repair on a vehicle that is still being paid for monthly, and why is it the consumer's fault that Nissan na is making and selling faulty, unsafe products? Nissan na knows of the ongoing issues with these cvt transmissions, but choses to nothing to rectify the issues. My vehicle will not pull and makes a whining noise while I am driving. This it the same issue that occurred in 2014. While I was in motion on a major interstate the vehicle began to lose power, spudder and jerk, and dropped down to about 10-15 mph. It was a horrifying experience to be in the middle of the interstate traveling at 60 mph, and all of a sudden start to lose speed. I was finally able to get the vehicle to the shoulder safely. These vehicles are unsafe to be driven. I am in total disbelief that none of the agencies charged with the protection of consumers safety and ethical treatment , will or has gotten involved to force Nissan to stop endangering the well being of those of us who drive these vehicles. I am a loyal Nissan owner, who has owned 2 other Nissan vehicles. In fact, I currently own a 1995 Nissan maxima that has never had a transmission issue. How can a 22 year old car still drive perfectly and a 2013 need 2 transmission replacements. Someone needs to hold Nissan accountable for their actions and treatment of consumers, as well as their blatant disregard for the safety of those of us who drive and transport passengers in their vehicles everyday.

7 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2017

Tl- the contact's husband owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that upon her husband coming to a complete stop, the vehicle would shut off without warning. The contact also stated that there was an abnormal grinding noise coming from the engine without warning. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he was unable to diagnosis the vehicle. After the contact experienced another failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to crown Nissan 5151 34th st n, st. Petersburg, FL 33714 due to repeated vehicle failure. They diagnosed the vehicle with transmission failure; the vehicle had not been repaired. The contact had not spoken with the manufacturer in regards to the failure. The failure mileage was 60,010. 8 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2016

In less than three years and just over 36,000 miles we have serviced the transmission 3-4 times (I've lost count), had it brought in for brake noise (screeching) at least 4 times, and just this week the bearings in both rear wheels had to be replaced. The brakes screech is ear splitting. They reconditioned the surface of the rotors, re-shimmed the pads and replaced the pads 9 months ago. I warned them then that I knew this was only a temporary fix and that I was concerned that they would get noisy again once the warranty expires and that is exactly what has happened. A few months before that they shimmed the pads which made it better temporarily. I told them shims were a band aid for a design flaw and that it wouldn't last. Several weeks later it was back in the shop. The tranny has the shakes. It has been reprogrammed, the alternator was replaced because supposedly the voltage variation was affecting the timing of the tranny, and most recently a vale body was replaced. The oscillation problem is better for now but my wife had it buck again last week just not as bad. It's just a matter of time on this too. Their competitors do not have this problem. I am highly concerned that I have more bearing issues in the future. Two out of two bearing sets failing (the fronts bearings are different) is a 100% failure rate in less than 36k. All three problems (brakes, transmission and bearings) are known issues in this year, google it.

9 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2015

The issue first started two (2) months after I purchased the vehicle, making a shutter/power surge feeling under acceleration. The brakes also shuttered, the backup camera went in and out, there were numerous recalls for the vehicle as well. I brought it to the dealership and they "fixed" all of the issues with some software updates, resurfaced the rotors, and also replaced the side mirrors. The transmission seemed better for a couple of months. Then the issue started again, the car would make a loud grinding noise and would shutter at lower speeds now. I brought it back and they could not replicate the issue, so I left. I brought it back a third time when it started getting worse and the entire transmission was replaced under warranty. I got the car back and now the problem is happening with the transmission. It shutters violently and happens at all speeds under acceleration. I brought it back for the fourth time and they could not "replicate" the issue and told me to monitor the issue and if it happens again to bring it back immediately and they would look at it. Today 09/16/15 it was worse than other days so I called the dealership and they said there was nothing they could do because they were too busy to see me. It still shudders/surges daily and at all speeds. It really feels like the transmission is about to let go.

10 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2014

I was driving on high way car suddenly started making noise and I was not able to accelerate more than 20 mph and finally it stopped middle of the high way. After visiting the service center they told me transmission is broken,I saw same posts in other blogs as well. Please take a action as soon as possible.

11 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

Engine juddering that seems to be coming from engine or transmission. Significant cabin vibration and noise with slow acceleration especially in cold weather. Happens at all speeds , highway or city.

12 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2013

I have a bad rattle coming from the right side of my car along with a whine noise coming from the same area. Also have a very bad vibration/rattle in the car that seems to be from the transmission at acceleration from a start and acceleration while switching lanes on a city street. You can coast and press the gas again and then the whole car rattles. It has been in to a Nissan dealership and they said they can feel it but don't know where or what is causing it. Also headlights give very very poor visibility when driving at night and when raining at night.

13 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2013

I have a 2013 Nissan Altima sv with 10800 miles on it. About 5000 miles ago began to hear and feel vibration with acceleration. Noise continued to get worse. Took it to a local Nissan dealer and they said the issue was coming from the cvt transmission. They had to replace the serpentine belt and the tensioner. Vibration is currently better but concerned this is just a short term solution. I think Nissan needs to put a recall out and find a long term solution.
