2010 Nissan altam the front strut insulators on both sides have really bad cracks on the upper insulators. It's a loud clunking noise going over bumps or just driving on flat surfaces. There's a recall on 09 and 10 maxima and altamas with the same issues but this one isn't showing up for a recall.

My car only has 36,400 miles. I went for an oil change at a third party garage and was told my front control arms are cracked and need to be replaced. I went to the dealer who confirmed this and also said there was a recall on the rear control arms. I have talked to numerous mechanics who said that the control arm should not be failing at 36,400 miles. I contacted Nissan asking them to help me with the cost of the front control arms since they are failing at such low mileage. They are not willing to do anything. I feel like the front should be replaced by the dealer.

When making a routine right-hand turn, the steering system failed. Driver had an unresponsive vehicle which crashed into a bridge rail. Driver was taken for medical attention. No warning lights prior to the crash. Vehicle has only been serviced by the dealer Nissan peacock of houston since purchased in December of 2019. A vehicle recall (NHTSA campaign 21v138000) was issued for this year, make, and model, but not for this particular VIN. This recall was for the tie rod ball joint fasteners.
This is my 3rd Altima. The first 2 were amazing. This 1 is not. I bought it used from shift. Com with 73k miles on it. About 6-8 months later I started feeling something wrong in the steering. The shop I took it too said the lower control arms were in the rear were corroded and the bushing were going bad. Tried to get it repaired thru the extended warranty I paid extra for but that was a nightmare and we ended fixing it ourselves. Something was still wrong. I put new tires on it, still wrong. Changed out the struts on front and shocks on rear, new control arms,, bushings, sway bar links, and tie rods. New brake pads and rotors. Then I bought custom wheels and another set of new tires for it. Took it and had an alignment done. The shop said everything looked good. Not long after it started drifting all over the road and I started hearing a whining noise. The next shop said the electric hydraulic power steering pump was going bad. Again the warranty company only allows the shop to call in and handle any repair claims and then they make them sit on hold forever. This is my only transportation and I can't wait for it to break in order for the warranty to repair it. In the meantime trying to figure out what to do the car is getting harder to drive straight down the road. I turned left thru an intersection and ran over the center median blowing out a tire. In 2 other occasions I hit my new wheels on the curb because the steering wheel has excessive play in it. We ended up changing the power steering unit without help from the warranty. After some research I had the lower steering shaft replaced also. The entire suspension has been replaced(front struts 2x) and it only has 115k miles on it. It's had 3 alignments in 2 years and yesterday the man at les schwab said the rack and pinion has some play in it. As well as the upper steering shaft needing to be replaced also. Oh and the cvt transmission is now leaking.
Tie rod ball joint snapped and broke at 15mph causing vehichle to loose control and forced off-road into a fence post. No collison warning or lane departure warning. I had the vehichle towed back to dealership Nissan wesley chapel. I was in process of possibly purchasing vehichle. Couldn’t find financing for me so received a letter rescinding their transaction. My ins agency esurance concluded it a tota loss. Never heard back from Nissan or my ins. Agency on what caused it to break. Everytime I asked I was never given a response. I have several photos of vehichle and found a recall for tie rod and ball joint fasteners on same make and year. Would like some answers to this safety issue being if I was going faster I could have been killed. 2 days prior to accident began hearing clicking noise when going over speed bump. Took vehichle for private inspection and a vehicle system scan reported systems w/codes for intelligent cruise control/advanced driver assistance system and laser/radar.
Car was working perfectly. Drove to school, nothing acting weird. Went to leave school and would not start. This is a push start ignition and it is stuck on lock with the key lights on. One orange/yellow stays on for a while and the other is the red flashing light. This is a steering lock module defect. I have read where this is a reocurring problem and Nissan has still not performed a recall and this obviously should have been done years ago. Now I am going to be out over $500 for a piece that Nissan should cover. This is unacceptable.

My power steering somehow had a slow leak which caused steering wheel to lock on while driving. Also, when I turn it sounds like a clucking sound like something is wrong with my power train. When I drive my accelerator seems like it be taking its time to catch up to speed. I've done did so much mechanical work to this car and it seems like nothing is working.
Rear control arm broke while driving.
Steering column locks, causing key fob to not be recognized. Hence, car will not start. This s/b recalled for a fix.
My daughter drove the car to a gas station, pumped gas, came back out and the car wouldnt start. She was left stranded by a car that had to be towed. Had she been out of town without resources nearby she would have been in a very difficult situation. The engine randomly fails to start using push-button no manual workaround, leaving drivers stranded failure to jumpstart using cables or a jump box and new battery the new replacement part wiped out the memory of the body control system causing more costs. $1200 - just to make the car start.
I was driving on the highway and lost all my speed it dropped from 70 to 30 on the highway had to pull over and shut my car down. I restarted it, and my rpms went up but were not moving. After this happen I have been in almost 15 accidents. The stops and then happens again. I hear like a winding noise when I try to keep a safe distance from people on the highway. Now all of a sudden my car is shaking and feels like my tires are going to fall off they are not through. No lights came on before this happend.

While driving on the highway the steering wheel locked keeping me from maneuvering the steering wheel. Independent service center diagnostics confirmed it was the power steering pump and sensor. Let the vehicle run into the curb. Then power steering fluid is still leaking out. When taken to the dealership they said to take it back to the independent service to have them find out where the leak is coming from. The dealership said it could be the copper screw or another part of the power steering.

Hello, on October 15th, close to 5 pm, I was driving on a busy highway surrounded by other cars when suddenly, the hood of my 2015 Nissan Altima slammed into my windshield. There was damage to the hood, a cracked windshield, the left side wheel was pulling to the side, and there was damage done near the sunroof top of my car. The interior light box inside the car was hanging. My insurance was made aware of the incident. I am a 67-year-old woman. I and others on that highway could have lost our lives. Car engine cuts off. After that I have no power steering, no acceleration, brakes need to be pumped. The first years of me owning the car I had the sensors replaced by auto shop and dealership under extended car warranty. Pretty much been replacing the sensors ever since for the past 8 years. I believe I replaced over 10 sensors of the time I owned my Nissan. I can be on the hallway, streets anywhere with out any warnings my car engine will stop. It has to do with turning back on the car while it's warm. That's when I seen the problem the most.

I was driving to work. 2 minutes after I exited the expressway, my car made a popping sound and I was unable to control or steer my car properly. I later found out that the control arm on my car was broken. If it broke 2 minutes earlier, I would've crashed my car on the expressway and I could have lost my life and/or endangered the life of others. Nissan apparently had an extended warranty on the control arm. There should've been a safety recall instead!.
Diagnosed cvt failure; Nissan refuses to replace the transmission at their cost. Took the vehicle to multiple mechanics before the issue was officially diagnosed, as the issue is difficult to diagnose. When operating the vehicle, at times the vehicle will stop accelerating; driver is pressing on the accelerator and the rpms will increase but the vehicle will not be propelled forward and the power steering is disengaged. The issue is intermittent so the driver does not when this will occur, other drivers on the road also do not know our car is stalled, and this creates a huge safety risk. Also, when stopped at a stop sign or stoplight and attempting to turn onto another street, driver will attempt to accelerate and turn and the vehicle will not move or will barely move and the power steering is disengaged. If the cross-street has traffic, my vehicle is immovable in oncoming traffic -- a huge safety issue.

The vehicle was working just fine when I went to the grocery store and came out. I unlocked the car using the key fob, sat inside and the car stopped detected my key. The steering was locked, I tried to place it near the start push button, tried putting it in the slot but nothing happened. And I tried unlock button couple of times on the key fob and the mirrors went down. And there was no way to pull them up and I was stranded in the parking lot for no reason. I got it towed to the dealership and they told me steering lock module went bad which is a common issue in 2009 Nissan Altima. Its a safety issue as I can get stranded anywhere anytime! and they are fixing it for 1300$ bucks! please recall all 2009 Nissan Altima and change this part in them!.
My Nissan's right passenger side lower rearward control arm broke as I was driving and I lost control of the car and steered to the side of the road. I was lucky no car was near me or it would have been tragic. Nissan should be forced to recall all the cars with this faulty part before life is lost.
My vehicle suddenly failed to start due to a defective escl, which locked the steering column. The vehicle needed to be towed to a Nissan dealership to replace the part at a cost of $1500. Defective escls are a known issue and a service campaign was implemented by Nissan to replace these defective parts in 2009-2010 Altimas and maximas. Unfortunately, the campaign expired in 2020 and Nissan refuses to fix this part after the expiration. I never received notification of this issue despite purchasing and owning the vehicle throughout the entire 2017-2020 campaign. Despite Nissan referring to this as a non-safety issue because the part is not known to fail during operation of the vehicle, this problem can cause operators to be suddenly stranded with no option of immediate repair. I believe the Nissan campaign to replace these defective parts should be reopened with no expiration, as there are hundreds of thousands of vehicles impacted.
The armbar connected to the front driver's side tire locked up during a left turn and then disconnected from the tire. I had no control over the steering and the car was still moving. I had two choices, run into the curb to stop the car or go over into a ditch about 30 feet down. When I ran into the curb it busted the tire and damaged my front bumper. I could've been seriously injured, injured someone else, died, or killed someone because I had no control over the steering. This is very dangerous and I have seen a few other people report similar instances like mine. The vehicle is currently at the ancia Nissan in san antonio and waiting for my insurance company to look at it. The mechanic said it may be totaled but he wasn't sure. There was no warning signs or anything. I am going to get to the bottom of this our lives were put in danger and I don't want this to happen to anyone else.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the vehicle jerked to the right with the traction control warning light illuminated. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the rear passenger’s side tire was tilted in. Due to the failure, the contact called a tow truck and it was discovered that the rear control arm had corroded. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who linked the failure NHTSA campaign number: 12v494000 (steering, suspension) and referred her to the dealer for assistance. The contact called the dealer and was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.
The vehicle steering got locked and would not want to start again, this could of happen anywhere and spend more money to tow and also a risk being in the freeway. This should be a recall due to a lot of complaints, or a free repair due to being very expensive, almost 200 for a safety issue. There is a TSB ntb10-053 ,.
Steering - rack and pinion issues - struts leaking possible factory defect per dealership. It is extremely unsafe to drive with a bad rack and pinion because you no longer can control your vehicle and keep it in a straight line. There would be so much free play and your vehicle would just wander on the road. This could be fatal for you and the other drivers. The problem was confirmed by the dealers (alhambra Nissan dealership in California). There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
Took car in and asked Nissan dealer to inspect rear lower links as there was a creaking noise and had just received extended 10 year warranty from manufacturer on components. Said completely fine. 3 weeks later driving down the road heard a thump in back end and car became impossible to control even at less than 20 miles an hour causing it to fishtail from lane to lane. Took car back in for repair and passenger side lower link completely rusted and snapped. Drivers side was also completely corroded and upon removal was also cracked. This could not have happened in 3 weeks time if inspected and had nothing wrong. Dealer told me even though they were completely corroded, which was what the warranty stated, they could not repair until physically broken as per Nissan. Dealer has stated they have had others with issues similar to mine but manufacturer will not replace until physically broken, which then creates a serious hazard to cars occupants and others on the road. I do not feel the perimeters of this recall are at all safe, as if I had been on a major highway doing 65 with this vehicle a serious accident would have occurred.
I took my car in for an alignment and the mechanic discovered excessive and sever corrosion on the lower suspension link in the rear, the corrosion is so bad that the entire subframe is holding on by a corroded approximately 1/2 inch section, one bump and the entire rear end of the vehicle will fall off. This car is less than 10 years old, has 80,000 miles on it and is for the most part kept in a garage. The corrosion is so bad that the car has been deemed unsafe to drive. Individuals who are experts in automotive parts have indicated that the corrosion that has occurred would be expected for a car that is over 50 years old and has been sitting in water or subjected to extreme use of salt/water/road chemicals to corrode to the degree that this entire unit is showing. I found that Nissan has put in place a "warranty extension to replace this exact part of the lower rear suspension due to excessive corrosion for the year/make/model of car I am reporting, however Nissan is refusing to honor that on my car simply because my VIN number didn't show up as one that should be experiencing this known issue. Searching the internet I have found hundreds of people that have had their back end fall off while driving due to this corrosion, all are same year, make and model. I will attach photos that show the extensive corrosion that is on the lower rear link of my 2013 Altima, reflecting that my car is in fact impacted by the very issue that Nissan supposedly was voluntarily extending the warranty on in an effort to prevent having to do a recall. Based on my brief internet review with a simple google search this part is defective on more cars than Nissan is covering and someone is going to die as a result of Nissans failure to recall and/or fix the issue when it is brought to their attention despite knowing that this is a prevalent issue on the year/make/model of this car. There lack of taking responsibility will cost someone their life.

I bought a used (7,000 miles) 2020 Nissan Altima 2. 5 sv. Bought the car January (18-19th) 2022. The same week I bought it I noticed a noise coming from the right side of the car. I would later come to find out it was a wheel bearing, which when not fixed can lead to some serious safety concerns. The wheel can potentially come off during driving! at high speeds in particular, that is dangerous. I am glad it did not happen to me, but it could have caused fatal accidents. Anytime I made turned my wheel to the right I heard a low droning/humming/vibrating noise from the opposite side. It was more pronounced with speed and depth of turn. These turns do not have to be very deep; most highways have curves in them, and this is when I would hear the noise. It usually began at speeds of 50-60mph, but as the issue became more pronounced over time (this took a whole year to resolve) this changed, and I was able to hear it from 30-40mph. Nissan did not want to warranty this at first, at multiple dealership locations. More time passed and I noticed the wheel bearing noise getting more and more pronounced. I brought it to another dealership that was not a Nissan dealership, and they said it’s clearly the wheel bearing. That’s the first time I had been told what this could possibly be. I brought it to the local Nissan dealership after this, so I could get this done under warranty. Remember, this has been happening since I bought the car, and I am at less than 17k mileage. I told them I was concerned about the wheel bearing and that I thought this was the issue, and it was more pronounced now than in the past. They said, "the car is fine" and that the noise it’s “normal. ” I asked how a loud noise happening only conditionally and to only one side of the car was “normal”, and he had no reply for that. Months later the noise is became incredibly disturbing, and I spoke with the manager, and they finally fixed the wheel bearing under warranty.
