I have been having problems with the car sputtering, stalling and not shifting in gear for months but thought it was a transmission fuel problem. At the end of sept the problems got worse where the car would hardly drive. Finally decided to take to transmission shop but the car completely stopped in the shop's driveway and had to be pushed into the stall. Was told the transmission was bad and needed to be replaced on a 2017 Altima? didn't have the $5000 needed so I had the vehicle towed to my aunt's house where it still sits for repossession. I have small children and don't need a car that stalls in traffice to this extent in traffic!.

Car started to lurch and whine while driving at any speed. Two weeks later it got worse and started to lose power or fail to accelerate while driving. Now vehicle will not go into gear most times. When it does it fails to move forward or backward, while pressing the gas pedal. Mechanic informed me that the transmission is slipping and needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

Transmission problem for miles over 60,000. When at stop light and try to accelerate when the light changes, car does not move when accelerator is pressed. While driving, car does not switch gears and car slows down. This is a very dangerous situation for the driver and passengers. If you are driving one of these cars, it will be deadly one day. I don't understand how these vehicles can be sold. After many people lose their lives, someone will notice. This car is dangerous on city streets and also interstate driving.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that there was an intermittent failure and the transmission failed to change gears, when necessary, in any gear. The rpms increased from 1,500 to 4,000; however, the speed reduced from 80 to 40 mph. The contact was unable to safely drive the vehicle due to the failure and drastic reduction in speed. Goodman Chevrolet Cadillac Nissan (1003 happy valley rd, glasgow, ky 42141, (270) 678-1300), jim johnson Nissan (2200 scottsville rd, bowling green, ky 42104, (270) 781-6770), and an independent certified mechanic were contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
"takata recall" my gear shifter remains in a stuck position. The car was stationary on a city street. I was unable to shift from park to another gear. This is a major safety issue as I have gotten stuck with my toddler in the car and was unable to move to a safer location. It took me at least 15 minutes to get the car to shift from park into gear. I was terrified! I had to leave the car in its location and take a lyft home with my daughter. The next day my local mechanic came to check the car. He said that this is a common issue for 2013 Nissan Altimas. He said he would have to take the car to his shop to investigate what might be causing this failure or I should call up Nissan because they should be aware of this safety issue.

Transmission failed to go in gear briefly when starting in traffic. . . . Felt like the vehicle revved up, but no power. After a few seconds, it went in gear.

My car recently today stated to lock the dear shift when I park it started this morning and has continued every time I turn off my car. Previous issue I took it in to Nissan tynans on havana in aurora CO (never go there) because it is sputtering any time I accelerate at any speed on any road right before it would what you call back in the day shift into another gear. Tynans first said it was a battery cable and when it wasnt fixed they are say there isnt anything wrong with the car. I believe the cvt is causing it to sputter I told tynans I thought it was a transmission issue to begin with. Needless to say my car is not fixed and is still sputtering and just bought it owe about $14000 still!.
The gear shift is locked and I can not shift gear from park to drive and neither reverse. The car was parked under my car port on level ground. I started engine, and placed foot on brake and began to shift out of park and into reverse, but shift was locked. I tried to shift to drive but it still would not engage.
The gear shift in my 2013 Nissan Altima stopped working. I looked up the problem on youtube and it said that the brake sensor was not relaying information to the gear shift. The vehicle will not shift into gear. The emergency shift lock must be used to take the car out of park. The problem began gradually, with the gear sift becoming "stuck" when shifting, and in a matter of 2 months, the gear shift has completely stopped working. When the vehicle is going from park to any other gear it will not shift. Once it is taken out of park, it will shift between any gears with no problem, until it is placed back in park.
I started experiencing problems with my vehicle about a year ago. While driving the car seem to not change gears. I had to coast to the side of the street, turn the vehicle off and restart it which made the vehicle to what I call "reset". This did not happen again until months later. Now my vehicle from time to time, while driving the vehicle seem as if it will not go when I accelerate from a stop in traffic. I thought it need transmission fluid. I discovered that it requies ctv transmission fluid and can only be done at a dealership which was not true. My local certified transmission repair center said they could perform a diagnostic for $99, which we did. We are now being told that the transmission need to be replaced and that this was a problem on most of the Nissan Altima's. Replacement would cost about $4,800. Why hasn't Nissan recalled these vehicles after so many complaints?.

Prior to taking my 2014 Nissan Altima to a Nissan service center for a scheduled routine oil & filter change, my vehicle was running perfectly. The very next day after I had my routine oil & filter change on my vehicle, my vehicle started hesitating in first gear and immediately I took my vehicle back to the Nissan service center the same day of the occurrence and I explained to the Nissan service center representative that my vehicle started hesitating. (the day after I had a scheduled routine oil & filter change). When the Nissan service center diagnosed my vehicle I was told my cvt transmission indicating a bad internal sensor within the transmission and I would need to pay $3,800 dollars to repair my cvt transmission. I explained to the Nissan service center rep. My vehicle was just at the Nissan service center yesterday for a routine oil & filter change and there was no warning lights or warning signs on my dashboard that would indicate a problem with my transmission. In addition to my vehicle hesitating in first gear it also appeared not to change gears while I was driving in motion on the highway. I told the Nissan rep the amount of money wanted to repair my vehicle was to much money and the Nissan rep stated my vehicle is pass the warranty limit because I have 78,000 mile and my limit is 60,000 miles to be covered under warranty. The service rep stated they can have a sales rep contact me to purchase a new car if I did not want to pay for the transmission repair. After refusing to have my vehicle repaired at that price I picked up my vehicle from the Nissan service center and drove my vehicle home and it ran fine with no warning lights or any indication of any problems. The vehicle changed gears and drove perfectly. I just want to report this issue and to red flag this problem with my 2014 Nissan Altima. If someone's dealing with this issue please advise.
I bought a used 2015 Nissan Altima on 6/23/2017 with approx. 47,000. Around 6/30/17 the car would not accelerate while driving over 40mph and the rpm was going all the way over to 8 & 9. The car sounded like it was not shifting into gear. I had to pull over, cut off the car and crank it back up again. There have been several times since then, when I'm at a light that the car will not accelerate over 5-10 mph and I have the pedal pushed all the way down to the floor. I took it to the Nissan in tuscaloosa, al on 08/21/17 to correct the cvt transmission open recall. I'm not sure if this will solve the problem due to them not finding any codes and test driving the car. I thought the transmission had blown up on 08/21/17 and had to immediately pull over (my son was in the car) on the side of the road.
The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Altima. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle lost power and decelerated. The rpms were between 4 and 5. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road, placed the vehicle in park, and waited a few minutes. When the contact began driving again, the vehicle started to pull and hesitate, failed to shift gears, and the transmission made a whining noise and failed to accelerate. The contact called a local dealer (Nissan Altima in schertz, TX) and was informed that he would had to pay for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 157,000.

Transmission has failed on vehicle at 63000 miles. The car began jerking and stuttering when in motion and also would not respond to gear change when mov8ng out of park. It would just sit for minutes before moving slowly or jumping violently when switching gears.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the vehicle would not shift into gear to reverse. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,985.
I experienced a grinding, shaking noise at 2. 0 rpm. The vehicle was taken in for service and I was informed that the transmission had to be replaced. The transmission was replaced and that was when all of my troubles began. The vehicle would hesitate and jerk while driving at low speeds. There was now a vibration at 1. 5 rpm. I took the vehicle back to the dealership and was advised that a belt was loose. The vehicle was returned to me and it still was not driving smoothly and now the entire gear console was loose. The vehicle would not move from either drive or reverse upon starting, even when the gear shift was moved. It would take two tries each time to get the car to move from park. The vehicle went back into the dealership where the gear console was adjusted. However, the dealership could not replicate the issue - vehicle not moving when gear placed in reverse or drive. This weekend (4/30/16) I drove the vehicle in virginia and had to navigate several high elevations while on the I-81 highway. The car was sluggish at best, dragging and the gears would not change. The car was racing loudly trying to keep up with the speed, rpm was up at 3. 5 and the car was at 50 mles; speed limit was 70. Once I cleared the hill the rpms leveled out to 1. 5 and the car held the 70 mph speed. Note the vehicle was not performing this way before the "new transmission" was installed. I did have the grinding and racing noise at 2. 0 rpm, but no hesitation, jerking or any difficulties in higher elevations. That leads me to conclude that there is something else wrong with this vehicle other than the transmission. I have also lodged a complaint with Nissan consumer affairs whom I am awaiting a response from on my complaint. The vehicle now has 18,694 miles and was purchased in August of 2014.
While traveling on the interstate at 70 miles per hour on two separate occasions, my 2012 Nissan Altima lost acceleration and would not go back into gear which almost caused a horrible accident with an 18 wheeler the second time this incident occurred. My car was only at 67,000 miles and the dealership is stating that it needs a new cvt transmission. This is a safety hazard and could have caused our baby to be involved in a horrible accident. Something definitely needs to be done regarding this situation before someone gets injured badly!.

The car had been shifting erratically for a while now and, though the transmission has been regularly service it now has failed. It began banging into gear when trying to put it into forward or reverse. It will not go into filth gear and Nissan is aware of the problem with most of these transmission they have not voluntarily re-called them. There needs to be intervention via the government & a class action suit that will actually go forward as it seems like the last one was voluntarily dis-banned. It makes me wonder if the initiators were paid off.

On June 26, 2014 around 8pm, the car began to abruptly lose acceleration. I was unable to accelerate past 25mph. I fortunately made it home that evening, but Friday, June 27, 2014; the vehicle would not accelerate at all. The engine would not rev in any gear and I was almost stranded in the middle of i95s during lunchtime rush hour. I unfortunately had to have the car towed to chapman Nissan, where I was told that they would attempt to look at my car on Monday, June 30. I called on Monday, June 30 and did not receive a response until 230pm, where I was told that the transmission on the car needed to be replaced. I immediately filed a complaint with Nissan the manufacturer as this was extremely unexpected on a 3 year old vehicle. I received a voice message from a regional complaint manager on July 1 who stated that she would call back on July 2. I have called every business day since July 2 with no adequate response from Nissan. In doing my research for Nissan Altima transmission issues, I discovered that this "was" a common issue from 2006-2010, where they extended the warranty on the transmission to 120k miles. In 2011, they reduced the warranty to 60k miles. However, what Nissan failed to do was alert owners, that they had issued "service bulletins" to their dealerships documenting the exact problem I had experienced on June 27. The service bulletin notices are: 336174, 361957, ntb10121, ntb1012057.

My 2005 Nissan maxima bought used didn't even have it for six months transmission failed. When ever it is driven for 15 or so minutes it wont shift gears and when coming to a stop it feels like someone slammed into me from behind. I feel very unsafe in this vehicle. I noticed that this is a common problen with this make and model. What is going to be done about this?.
Purchased new 2014 Nissan Altima sl 3. 5l at approximately 2200 miles when accelrating at a stop light the vehicle jerked (as if it could not change gears), happened intermittently at first. Took vehicle to repair shop at 2 dealers in 2 states who could not capture information at that time. By 12000 miles while returning from vacation (1/4/2015) the vehicle was undriveable. Took to local dealer and needed a completee transmission replacement. At this time, vehicle was jerking, missing gears, changing gears independently, trying to go in to a lower gear while breaked at a stop light and engine would rev to accelrate, vehicle shook, and was literally deteriorating each mile. Transmission was replaced, at approximately 14500 miles, the same vehicle symptoms have begun. Took to dealer while traveling, they were able to capture minimal data because as the vehicle began to jerk and shake, their battery died in the lap top. However, some data was recorded. Advised to drive home and file complaint with Nissan motors north America (which I have done,) vehicle will be taken to local dealer for continual study and new transmission replacement. Was advised by repair manager, that transmissions are now being known to seize while being drove. I have requested Nissan purchase my vehicle back, pay off my loan and refund any trade in values and payments made on nmac loan because I refuse to replace a transmission every 2000 miles. At this time vehicle is shifting spuratically at any mileage. More at lower speeds but also at 70mph on highways.
I was driving at 65 mph on a major highway and without any warning the car stalled out . The vehicle would not engage in any gear. The transmission failed without any warning lights or codes. Vehicle towed immediately to dealership. Diagnosis stated checked for coded all ok, however internal hard failure new transmission . 4000. 00 vehicle was serviced always at crowley Nissan bristol CT and serviced on 3/28/2014 checked a week prior . Paper work indicated transmission fluid full and excellent. Nissan USA refused to assist in any matter and dealership was the worst. This vehicle had issues in the past having numerous items replaced under warranty . Never buying a Nissan again. . .

Was driving and the clutch sank to the floor. Couldn't get into gear so I had to pull over. Once I parked my car, the clutch was completely to the floor. Couldn't drive it because the clutch would not get into gear. Waited about 20 mins and it came up 1/4 of the way and was able to get into gear. This only happens in the summer and it happens about once or twice every other week and if it happens while it's parked, the car is inoperable.

While driving my 2008 Nissan Altima I came to a sudden stop going uphill to avoid hitting another vehicle. As I tried to proceed the transmission will not crank into gear even though it was in drive position. After shutting the engine off and restarting it I was able to proceed forward.
My clutch in my 2005 Altima se-r has sank to the floor causing me to pump the clutch while driving. I believe this is unsafe for any driver. This not only causes a wreck by not engaging in gear, it also put others in danger if my car goes out.
The vehicle was not shifting gears at right speed, before shifting also hear loud clunck coming from transmission when going into reverse and drive.

We have been dealing with an issue with the transmission on this car since the day we purchased it. There actually was a problem before we purchased it & we were told it would be corrected if we bought the car. We have had the car in about this & they are unable to correct it. The transmission has gotten so bad that it failed when my wife & kids pulled out onto a busy road & were almost hit because the automatic transmission failed to stay in gear. The garage keeps telling us that they cannot reproduce any of the symptoms and we are afraid to use the car now.
