My car was parked in a driveway for 1 hour and when going to approach my car from that 1 hour of leaving I came back to my front windshield cracked in the center , crack did start from the bottom and go up , no forced trauma , no sign of rock or pebble hit , no sign of any issue on a ring camera within that 1 hour of sitting .
Windshield wiper fluid reservoir sensor going on even when reservoir is full. Gives drivers a warning light which is very distracting. If you go on line, this appears to be an extremely common problem that Nissan has not addressed. This can lead people to not know if they have fluid in reservoir as they will eventually ignore warning light or disconnect sensor (the two most common solutions in Nissan Altima forum).

1 of 2 problems! 1 the passenger head light seems to be leaking water into the headlight and blurring vission forwards and gives a blurring illusion and mabe shorting out the headlight. 2 the windshield wipers liquid sencer showes it needs windshield wipers fluid when it's full. The light on the dashboard keeps flashing showing this and keeps the odometer blocked.
Hello, I have a 2017 Nissan Altima, VIN# 1n4al3apxhc185845 and a few years ago there was a safety recall on the headlight system. The lights are very dim, they will not get bright after changing the bulbs multiple times and still not a fix. The lights are very dim at night and very hard to see. I tried scheduling an appointment and the Nissan dealership says this recall expired. My 21 year old daughter is driving the car and she keeps asking me that she cannot see with the lights on and working fine. Multiple times she has almost hit something close to the side of the road or another parked car because the lights are so dim but working fine. How can a safety recall expire, if an accident happens and Nissan refused to fix the safety issue and had a recall then Nissan corporation may be liable for any injuries due to this accident. I just want to get the headlights fixed according to the safety recall but every time I call, it gets disconnected or I cannot get thru to anyone and they just keep me on hold.

While driving on a highway at 65 mph, the hood of the car completely opened. When attempting to close it, the latch that holds the hood wouldn't hold it at all. There were no warning lights, when I called the dealership they said that because there were no recalls on it currently, they couldn't do anything. The hood completely blinded us and dented the roof and sides of our car.

I purchased this car and the dashboard is melting and sticky. It’s affecting visibility to the point where I found myself trying to lift up to look overtop of the blinding glare on my windshield due to my melting dashboard and got into an minor accident like was reflecting off the dashboard onto the windshield obstructing my view and resulted in me rear bumping into the rear of another car that was towing a very small trailer that I couldn’t see through the reflection on the windshield. Since then im noticing almost every dashboard on a Nissan Altima look the same if not worse and absolutely has to and needs to be acknowledged by Nissan for Nissan Altimas everywhere, not just in florida. A recall needs to be issued to resolve this very serious safety hazard. I’m lucky no one was injured. Please address this issue so people can get the dashboard repaired without costing them even more money than they already paid for your defective product.

Going down the highway coming home my hood popped up and blocked my visibility I swerved off the road causing my back tire to blow out. Now my hood will not open back up, since I closed it on the highway. I got my car to my house with the spare but am not sure what to do now. I looked and apparently my car has a recall for a faulty hood and was never taken in for inspection. I believe this was the cause of my hood failure.

I have a expired recall that was not completed by previous owner. I called company and they refuse to fix my problem because it was expired.
I was riding down the highway when all of a sudden I hear loud bang, the rear windshield, completely shutters, spontaneously out of nowhere. This is a huge safety concern as I could have easily caused or been involved in an accident due to what occurred I have looked up on other forms where this has happened to other Nissan owners. This can also be inspected by service center employees as well as document documented by the police. Be careful as there are no warning signs if or when this may occurred to your vehicle.

I purchased my certified-preowned 2023 Nissan Altima on 12/9/2023 at 800+ miles. I did test drive it before my purchase, however I did not notice the defect in the driver and passenger side windows until my 45 minute drive home. The windows are defective and distorted my vision causing eye strain and dizziness.
Nissan had a extended warranty on their headlight assembly. I didn't know this until 2023. I than went to riverhead auto mall and had it tested, they said it passed this was on 11/28/2023. Finally based on my disbelief they agreed to have it retested pro bono at Nissan 112. It did fail the test in may of 2024. I have a daughter with a condition that requires me to drive her to and from work in inclement weather. At night I can barely see and I am putting ourselves and others at risk. They are now claiming the warranty ended in 2024 and they want me to pay half of the replacement cost. My contention is that if the first dealer had done the right thing I wouldn't be in this position.
Glare off dash board is blinding on sunny days. Dashboard is melting, the melted dash reflection is distraciton/ binding on sunny days, and smell from dash is not pleasant. Not knowing actual product that is melting is concerning since melting plastics and vinyl can be toxic. Took car out for ride on sunny day had to pull over because of glare dashboard. Tried to contact Nissan about any products to resurface and contain the melted mess an smell. They offered no solutions besides take in to local dearliship. Not shelling out 500 dollars for nationally known defective material. You can contact any quality managment firm or producer that have working knowledge with plastics and vinyl to confirm that this is a major quality defect. I can not even find out what actual material was used to cover for soft dash.

Unknown. . . I just got this car I haven't even had it put in my name yet but when I drive it there's a really bad glare I thought it was something sticky from the previous owner that was on the dash but it's not I got some goo off and tried to clean it off and tried to use a scraper and it's never ending stickiness so I thought that was kind of weird so I looked it up online florida has a recall on this vehicle for the dash melting my dash is literally melting but they don't have a recall in georgia, texas or anywhere else there's such a bad glare on this car that I almost hit somebody walking down the road and another incident I almost hit a kid on a bicycle because it affects your visibility I think that Nissan should have to replace this. This is a safety issue and it's very dangerous luckily I saw them both in time I would hate to see if somebody didn't see them in time I looked up the price of it and it's almost $2,000 to have the dash replaced thats an insane amount of money for something that I feel like is Nissan's fault its clearly a faulty dashboard. It melts if it gets too hot and it puts this glare on the windshield and its not just a small glare it is terrible so I wanted to see if I could get something done or if maybe we could make Nissan fix the cars in georgia and everywhere else that has this car it seems to only be 2008 and 2009 I believe so far from looking it up on the internet today but there's got to be something that we can all can do to make them pay to fix it everywhere I mean it's not only affecting drivers in florida it's affecting every one of these cars I'm sure. . . In every state our kids matter I almost hit that kid on that bike and kids in florida shouldn't matter more than the kids in georgia or any other state for that matter and I think that it's ridiculous that they were allowed to only fix cars in florida for that that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard this is a danger to everyone and I was hoping y'all could help me.
My dash is melting and it is so shiny that the glare on the windshield makes it almost impossible to see on a sunny day. The dash is so sticky that you can’t even clean it. And it is admitting a foul odor which makes me sick makes my nose run and makes my eyes water. I don’t have another vehicle to drive but it’s getting to where I can’t drive this one.

I’m driving on expressway going southbound with no traffic & out of no where the hood jumps open, the result of that resulted in the windshield being cracked also the sunroof. The glass from sunroof came shattered & hit me & my daughter forehead leaving glass inside the car. These was a traumatic experience, and actually my very first Nissan.

I brought my car to florida 2 years ago and notices my dashboard getting very shiny and sticky. Now the dash is cracking in many areas. The glare off the dash board shining on the windshield makes it a dangerous situation. I called Nissan and they said it is a common problem in years 2005-2012 and there is nothing they can do. I googled it and there are many complaints online regarding this problem. A 13 y/o car that was garaged for 11 years in the ne and now parked underneath a parking garage should not have this problem. It is definitely a defect in manufacturing that is causing a safety issue and a diminished value issue.

While driving at 35mph on a city road the car hood flew up open & smashed into the windshield despite their supposed fix of hood latch spring being replaced & assembly lubricated by the Nissan dealership in Aug 2021 due to a Nissan hood latch recall (NHTSA recall 16v-029) in response to a class action lawsuit. At highway speeds, this would have seriously compromised human lives. In this case, neither the primary hood latch lever or fuel door release lever had been pulled open by the driver just prior to the incident; yet the hood flew open without warning. (hoods have primary latches located inside the vehicles, then secondary latches located under the hoods. Primary hood latches in the cars are located too close to the fuel door latches that might cause drivers to accidentally unlatch the hoods instead of the fuel doors. Then once the primary hood latch is pulled in the Altima, the secondary latch under the hood fails to hold the hood down, allowing the Altima hood to open while driving. ) no warning lights or messages came on. The car was not drivable & was towed to the Nissan dealership where it is currently pending repairs estimate $5234. 58. At this time, Nissan motors accepts no liability for this incident; clearly shifting the blame again. Nissan motors has issued multiple (2014, 2015, 2016, 2020, 2022interim) hood latch recalls in response to this problem in various Nissan models 2013-2018, the most recent in 2022 (still in progress). Design and manufacturing defects allegedly cause the hoods to open while driving at any speed. According to the Altima class action lawsuit, Nissan blames the problems on multiple sources but still can’t properly repair the cars. The Altima hood latch systems are allegedly not strong enough to perform in real-world conditions and aren’t up to industry standards used for more than 100 years. The return springs are also allegedly too weak, as are the locking systems which prevent the hoods from securely latching.
The headlights are very dim. It is available for inspection upon request. It is a safety hazard at night time due to low visibility. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacurer, police, insurance or others. There were no warnings, it seemed to happen gradually. I discovered there was a class action settlement, but I was not receive notification and had already missed the deadline.
Defective headlamps that delaminate and result in dimming of the low beam headlights. Driving at night is hazardous. My car failed headlight inspection at dealership on 5/07/22. Claimed that my car was not reflected in the system as one eligible for free replacement under the class action lawsuit depsite the fact I followed all instructions. Furthermore the dealerships do not have the headlights in stock and are on backorder. They cannot give a date when they will be in. And the cost is $1400!!!!! I fear this car and other Nissan cars with dimming headlights are accidents waiting to happen. I limit my driving at night and use high beams when possible. I am a senior citizen with vision issues. Please advise. Thankyou. Denise puttre deniseputtre@gmail. Com 508-446-0939.
I bought my 2022 Nissan Altima in February this year. Upon leaving my house for work on June 9th, I noticed a unique crack in my windshield which had not been there previously. Nothing had damaged or hit it as I had not driven my car in over a day or so. Within a week or so my windshield became so severely cracked, it was unsafe to drive due to limited visibility. I notified mclarty Nissan of this and they told me they did not handle windshield repairs. I contacted my insurance provider but due to the $500 deductible it was cheaper to pay out of pocket to replace it. Because of the inability to see clearly and lack of visibility which was a safety issue, I had to call in to work. This not only cost me money but it left my coworkers in a serious bind as they rely on me and because I am a nurse, it left them severely short staffed. I believe this was a defective windshield or a manufacturing error. I took pictures of the progression of the cracking that occurred to my windshield rendering it unsafe to operate.

Its not unknown. I arrived at work on Thursday the 12th of may, at 8:00 a. M. I work in an industrial park where there is no traffic. My car was looking great, I put my sunshade cover up and proceeded to go into work. After working all day I came out to my car and my windshield was crack starting from the top of the car and flowering down. Nothing hit my car on my way into work, and actually there is nothing that shows it was hit a all. This is a factory defect and there are bubbles when the glue or whatever they use is a mess.
First, the chip has started to malfunction around 13k miles. Secondly, there is a lurch when the car first starts and an aggressive rpm jump and then drop, it begins to run fine upon warming up alittle. Now, at 20k miles the car is having issues with the wipers not spraying the windows well and the rear passenger door has to be locked manually from the interior.
When the rearview mirror was adjusted, the mirror fell off of the windshield entirely and took a chunk of glass out with the rearview mirror.
The dashboard in this vehicle similar to other Nissan models that have already been recalled is cracked, sticky, shiny and glossy. It’s dangerous to have cracks in the dashboard in case of airbag deployment. The glossy shiny dashboard creates a blinding glare and is extremely dangerous while driving. It creates a glare that makes the front windshield appear black and unable to see through.
We have a 2013 Nissan Altima that we haven't driven at night for over 4 years. There was a lawsuit over headlamp issue and plaintiffs won. So we filed our claim in Jan when we received postcard. We rec'd a ticket # and took it to our Nissan dealer after the April 1st, when allowed. They replaced the 2 recalls under our VIN # but concluded our lights are fine. They are not! we can't see 2 feet in front of us at night. To prove this we drove it yesterday to our good Friday service at our church. We almost crashed. You can't see the lines on the road in front of you! we had to drive with our brights on and blind everybody. That's the only way to drive it at night. I see on Nissan's webpage that there is a headlight recall dated 3/24/22 pc861 but you don't have a safety id#. I figured that's why Nissan didn't honor that recall. I joined the niisan club and there are many people that also were denied as headlights fine according to their "new bulletin" Nissan sent to all dealerships after the lawsuit was settled. Seems they are not honoring to replace the headlamps even though we can't see or drive our cars at night. I'm at a loss why your agency hasn't given this a safety issue. I don't know what to do. My husband was so angry to learn the dealership deemed our lights fine he started screaming at the management. They even admitted our lights our dim but according to Nissan's CO. Bulletin they don't meet the replacement standards. I guess we just wait to crash at night before it causes you to assign a safety id #. I know we can't be the only ones complaining of being rejected. The Nissan dealership is on rt 19 in wexford, PA.
My 2013 Nissan Altima is included in the notice of class action settlement rafael suarez et. Al. V. Nissan north America, inc. ,no. 3:21-cv-000393-wlc-an. This settlement was reached in late 2021. On or about April 11,2022 my vehicle failed a Nissan dealer conducted test thus qualifying it for replacement headlights. The lumens emitted from the headlights are degraded due to delamination of the headlamp covering. Basically, there is insufficient light to safely drive the car at night in my particular case. The problem is that Nissan n. A. Claims they are unable to provide the headlights due to supply chain issues. Any corporation can overcome supply chain issues should they wish to place the resources needed to overcome any obstacles. In this case the issue is one of safety for myself and the other Nissan drivers that have not received replacement headlights. I have contacted Nissan n. A. Customer service hot line (800-647-7261) numerous times (with documented case numbers) but no information is forth coming on when the replacement headlamp coverings will be available. Nissan n. A. Advices contacting the local Nissan dealer for updated information however they have only what Nissan provides them. With the summer driving season (with longer hours of natural light) coming to the an end, the need for the headlights is all the more important during the shorten winter days. Nissan has been less than forth coming with information as to when the replacement covers will be available. Help from the ntsb is needed to "encourage" Nissan n. A. To provide the headlight covers. Case numbers in the Nissan customer service systems include among others, #46093980, #46431416, #46856238 and #47154211.
The dashboard covering has deteriorated to the point it is sticky and shiny. Sun glare on the dash reflects off the windshield making it difficult to see. This is a known defect of this make, model and year. State of florida settled with the manufacturer and owner's cars were repaired.
I was driving in the highway, and suddenly my hood flew open. I could not see I had to slow then and pull over to the side. Because of the hood coming up it cracked my windshield and the hinges damaged both sides of the front fenders. I have been trying to get an appointment for the recall at multiple Nissan service centers since January of 2022. This incident happened in December , it is now September 06 2022. I am sitting at a Nissan service center and they are telling me they are not responsible call the insurance. As I explain to the agent the insurance is not going to fix it due to the problem caused by a recall. Now the agent is telling me that I will have to make another appointment and it will be 8-9 months before they can get to it.
My dash is melting. Besides being a mess as I am not able to clean it, it obstructs my vision when the sun hits it and glares back at the windshield. In georgia there are many sunny days and if I am facing the sun, my view is really bad. I have contacted several Nissan dealers in the area and not one has a way to help me. I have read about consumers winning lawsuits in texas and florida, but the damage is the same here in georgia.
The dashboard in my 2007 Altima is melting. It is ultra sticky and isn't cleanable at all. It wreaks of a chemical smell and also puts a glare on the windshield in certain lighting. It's a mess, and it's dangerous. There was a class action lawsuit filed for the issue in florida and Nissan fixed the Altimas there.

Since I bought my 2015 Nissan Altima, the low-beam headlights have been dangerously dim. I stopped driving at night as I almost hit pedestrians. I'm jeopardizing my safety and others on the road. Installing a new headlight did not change visibility and the Nissan dealership inspected the problem and recommended an "aftermarket" headlight assembly. There are no warning symptoms or signs of this problem and the vehicle is still equipped with its original headlight housing.
