36 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/12/2021

My windshield cracked on the front passenger side out of nowhere. . . Meaning not any reason for it to do so. First it was on the passenger's side which I originally assumed that something/somebody must have hit it while parked at my child's school. I took it to aaa glass to get an estimate and was told that that usually a windshield does not do that unless it is 3 years old. My car is a 2020!!! then my car was parked in my driveway all weekend and when I got in it, I noticed that the driver's windshield area was cracked. Finding this very usual, I did a google check to discover that several drivers have had the same problem with the same year, same model and same make of the car. A youtube video of their car even showed it is the same area that I experience the crack. I called the dealership and was told there wasn't a recall and they offered no assistance. I called Nissan and am waiting on them to return my car. With so many people having this issue, it is worrisome. This is a safety issue and a recall should be done immediately to avoid any accidents or injury/harm to those that sit in the front seat. I am not getting anywhere and hope that this complaint and others are taken seriously. Thank you!.

Failure Date: 09/01/2021

Both sun visors have failed. They no longer hold their positions. They just droop at random. I consider this a real safety issue for the driver because the visor can droop at any time and I pair the driver’s vision.

40 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 08/11/2021

The washer fluid motor or spray nozzles design is defective. I’ve been to my dealership multiple times they have replaced the pumps and gone through the whole set up and said there’s nothing that can be done. When dirt and dust are on the windshield and you want to spray it off is when the problem arises. The fluid is only sprayed on the lower portion of the windshield and does not spray the part that needs sprayed the middle and top where you look out off. This is not only a hindrance but could be a safety issue when your visual path is compromised. The dealer said they were putting in complaints and hopefully the engineers or design team looks at it as a problem. I hope this grabs the attention of the people that can make safety issues known and hopefully something is put in the motion to fix this. Thanks.

The windshield was randomly cracked without having any impact marks. The car was parked with no cracks on a sunny day and I came to my car within any hour to a cracked windshield. The issue is well know with these vehicles. I have plenty of pictures for evidence as well. Below are pictures of people with similar problems.

44 Wiper problem of the 2010 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/13/2021

My dashboard has been melting since I purchased the vehicle last year. Dealership went out of business. It’s over $1,000 for dashboard to be replaced. I read the complaints on this website and y’all are well informed of this issue and the safety concerns associated with it. Ditto for Nissan! a recall was issued for the previous two year models so why in the world should we have to pay for this repair out of pocket and how many complaints does it take to get y’all to do something????? I’m not sure what you’re here for if not to address issues consumers are having with their products. Do your job and make Nissan pay for their mistakes!!!!.

Failure Date: 04/10/2021

Low beam headlights are not effective in seeing at night. Known issues in Nissan Altima models where headlight assembly reflective parts becomes foggy and distorted/melts due build up of heat from halogen light bulbs located in the assembly. Creates dangerous road conditions not only for the driver but for others as well. Nissan continues to ignore the ongoing issues and has yet to issue an alternative to correct the problem.

46 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/03/2021

Since the purchase of this vehicle I've had two instances that I feel are defect related. The tire indicator lights continued to read low air. The tire was leaking some type of black film and a huge knot appeared on the side of the tire. Another incident involved the tire completely blowing. The tire defects were reported back to the company and were indicated as no fault to manufacture. Since I've complained of a recall that has been in the model vehicle but a different year. My visibility is obstructed due to all windows retaining dew and moisture causing fog to appear in all windows. It happens while driving early morning & at dawn during temperature changes. The defrost doesn't clear the windows. During rainy weather the car is completely disabled due the obstruction in vision from the thickly fogged windows. I had it checked by the service department and was told it was like that because the window was dirty. I don't feel like service has thoroughly inspected the vehicle. I'm concerned for the safety of myself and my child and have stressed this to them numerous times. During each defect, the vehicle was in motion. Please help.

47 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/03/2021

The visibility of the headlamps at normal brightness are very dim. I have read about numerous lawsuits regarding this, including a class action, but when I have gone to the dealer with the information postcard that I received in the mail, I am told by Nissan that I am "outside of the window" to have them replaced with newer brighter lamps. Per the website for the class action lawsuit, it should be for 2013-2018 Nissan Altimas (rafael suarez, et al. V. Nissan north America, inc. , case no. . Read more...

48 Wiper problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

49 Wiper problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

Car dash has become a hazard to driving safely. The dash originally, when purchased new from the dealer, had a pebbled matt finish similar to a football or basketball. In the past year that finish is dissolved into a slick sticky highly reflective state. This reflective state causes the driver to be visually impaired and unable to see out of the front window; this is extremely hazardous. Further research of this event with my vehicle has found it not to be unique to my vehicle. This is a very common and very dangerous. This is a defect of design only and as such needs to be addressed by Nissan corporate.

50 Wiper problem of the 2010 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/01/2021

Concern: melting dashboard safety: visibility - the dashboard is very shiny and sticky, potential glare confirmation: florida recalls have already been made against 2008 and 2009 Nissan vehicles, but nothing further. Symptoms: no idea that the dashboard was melting; college student used vehicle corrective action taken: washing/cleaners do not improve or correct the issue. Also, the replacement cost and/or labor required to fix the issue is extremely limited for consumers to take on personally.

51 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/08/2021

My windshield cracked for no reason . No signs that it was cracked by impact . The crack keeps getting bigger. Giving me poor visibility while driving . Very expensive to replace .

52 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/28/2020

My windshield cracked for no reason with only 460 miles on the car. Upon looking through a social media group and reading forums it was very evident that this is a super common issue. I don't know if it cracked when I was driving or over night but I noticed it about a mile into my morning drive to work with no other cars around and only doing 30mph. The windshield in this car is not only very expensive to replace but it also posses a safety issue and in many states you can be ticketed for it being cracked. This form won't allow me to upload a picture, just a pdf but I do have pictures of the crack. I personally know 1 and have found at least 20 other people with this issue without looking hard.

53 Wiper problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/15/2020

The low beam headlights are almost impossible to use during the dark and triple the concern when driving at night and it's raining. This used to not be the case. This is a safety hazard!!! this happens whether street driving or highway driving and essentially makes me have to use the bright lights when there is absolutely no other natural lighting to help.

54 Wiper problem of the 2019 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/14/2020

I am filing this complaint to let you know that Nissans windshields are very brittle. I went to smush a bug and it shattered it. 55 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/05/2020

My low beam lights are very dim. I can barely see at night. I have replace the light bulbs and that did not help. 57 Wiper problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Headlights extremely dim causing night driving hazard. Issue is due to degradation of reflector in headlight housing. I had to replace both headlight assemblies to resolve safety issue with the car. This is apparently a pronounced problem with Nissan Altimas per Nissan online forums. Photo shows replacement headlight on left and the original defective headlight reflector on the right.

58 Wiper problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/23/2020

59 Wiper problem of the 2015 Nissan Altima

60 Wiper problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/07/2020

The dash on my 2012 Altima has begun to melt. The dash initially started out being tacky when my son was away at college in nc, which I thought was unusual. Upon returning to FL this past summer, it got worse. Now the dash is giving off a chemical smell with a horrible glare. The glare from the windshield is making for unsafe driving conditions, especially in the FL sun. Nissan acknowledged the melting dash issue in 2008 2009 models and agreed to replace those dashes for vehicles in FL under a lawsuit settled in 2017. Looking at the complaints on the NHTSA website, it appears that the melting dash issue has continued to be a problem past the 2008 2009 model years.

61 Wiper problem of the 2010 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

The material the dash is made from gets extremely hot and melts, and the upper dash has a glare that shines and comes off the dash into the windshield area & causes a major distraction from the glare. My 20-yr old drives this car and has almost crashed due to the glare. The dash needs replaced. I tried a photo, but does not show the glare.

62 Wiper problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

65 Wiper problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

66 Wiper problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/27/2020

My 2008 Nissan Altima coupe 2. 5s' dashboard is melting giving off toxic fumes and making my visibility terrible while driving because the melting/sticky dashboard reflects into the windshield and Nissan refuses to fix it for free. The reflection in the windshield is particularly worse when driving towards the sun to the point where I cannot see anything while driving. I bought the vehicle with the dashboard like that because I figured that gooey gone could fix it but it didn't. Again Nissan refuses to fix this problem and it is very dangerous while driving.

67 Wiper problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/25/2020

Driving on highway, absolutely no warning at all, hood flies open suddenly slamming into windshield while driving!!! after screaming of course, tried to keep vehicle straight, slowed, pulled over to right to safety. Unbelievably no other vehicles hit/involved, no crash - my vehicle has damage to hood, roof, both front fenders, interior overhead controls dropped out of the ceiling. Nissan not yet committing to paying for it 100% !!!!!! even though a recall on this item was issued 1 month ago, and I found articles on this problem with the car going back to 2014 - and Nissan dealership just had my car 4 months ago (March) working on another different recall !!!!.

68 Wiper problem of the 2008 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/01/2020

Not a single event. . . Dashboard has progressively gotten softer/stickier over the past few years. It is now cracked and is melting next to the windshield. It has off-gassed an unremovable film on the bottom half of the glass, and the car has such a noxious smell from the fumes we no longer feel it's healthy to drive without the windows down.

69 Wiper problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/09/2020

Lighting on the 2013 Nissan Altima is a safety risk and potential liability waiting to happen. The visibility with the stock lights will limit your visibility and puts you and passengers at risk. This has to be corrected and taken seriously by Nissan. The light that is illuminating has to be out of code for a legal acceptable vehicle.

70 Wiper problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

The dashboard is melting. The dash is sticky and is turning to a gooey substance. It is shiny and is causing glare on windshield. It started where dash meets windshield and quickly spread toward steering wheel. I have taken the car to two local dealerships who said they could not do anything other than replace the dashboard at $2700 since the car is out of warranty. I contacted Nissan customer care and I have a case number. They said no one else had complained about this for the 2012 year although I am seeing some complaints on this site. They too said they would not do anything since it was out of warranty. When I suggested it was defective and obviously was the same problem as the lawsuit that was settled, they gentleman said this was not the same year. My car was originally purchased in florida, the state of the class action lawsuit, but I now live in GA. A dashboard should not melt when exposed to the sun! Nissan should take responsibility for this defective product.
