1 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2020

This is a major safety issue! the brake light on the control panel comes on and when stepping on the brakes, the car hardly brakes. It feels like the brakes are grinding and skidding. I have to carefully pull the car over and turn the car off and back on. Lately this has been happening around once a week.

2 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2019

Driving in traffic causes brakes to lock as if the parking brakes were set. I have to pull over safely to the side of the road and place the vehicle in park, press on the parking foot brake to engage and disengage the brakes, turn off and on the vehicle to "reset" the brakes. It happened a few times especially on the freeway. In all multiple occasions nearly rear ending the vehicle in front of me especially when I have my family with me in the vehicle. When this occurs the brake light comes on, on the dash. Happens on both the freeway and the city streets in motion and once when the brakes was press in traffic.

3 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2019

Is giving a delta stroke sensor c1179 and also suddenly the brake lights turns on and can't use the brakes and I have to turn it off and on again and it will go away but it happens even if I am on the highway and it worries me. Please let me know what is this code because nobody seems to know. This has happened a couple of times.

4 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2018

Started having a issue with my brakes on my Nissan Armada. When you pressed on the brakes, they would go to the floor and would not work and the brake light would go on. After pulling over and turning the vehicle off and back on the brake light would go off and the brakes would work again. I googled the problem and found that Nissan knew about this issue and settled a class action law suit regarding it. I took the vehicle to the dealership and it was the delta stroke sensor. Nissan knew there was a problem but has not recalled the vehicles. In fact this problem is not limited to the Armada. My family and I could have been killed because of this issue including others that were on the road when the brakes went out. Https://topclassactions. 5 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2016

While attempting to stop, without warning the brake light comes on and the brake pedal basically goes to the floor and barely works to stop the truck. The brakes grind as it is pushed. If you turn the vehicle off it seems to reset itself. We almost hit someone today trying to stop at a red light. The vehicle was moving at roughly 15-20 mph when the issue started (today). We were on a city street, braking to stop. It seems to be a consistent problem with these vehicles and I am boggled at the fact that no one is requiring Nissan to take any responsibility. Eventually someone is going to get very hurt. Having little to no control over your braking is very scary, especially with my little one in the truck with me . This is a large vehicle and would do a lot of damage if it were to hit someone the next time this happens. This seems to happen once every 2-4 weeks or so. It appears to be random.

6 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2016

I have had the same issue that many people are explaining here. I'll be driving down the road and out of no where the dash brake light will turn on. When I try to break, the brake pedal will push down to the floor and it will sound like is grinding and almost sound like a spring is loose inthere. But when I turn the car off and then turn it on, it goes away. I had this problem for a few months now and this is an accident waiting to happen, I just hope it doesn't do it on the freeway. .

7 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2016

I have had the same issue that many people are explaining. I will be driving down the road and out of no where the dash brake light will turn on. When I proceed to stop the car the brake will push down to the floor and it will grind and almost sound like a spring. I pull over, turn the car off and then it goes away. It has happened multiple times and there is no warning as to when it will happen.

8 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2016

While I am driving my emergency brake light turns on and my brakes locked and it's really hard for me to break the brake pedal also shakes almost leading into an accident.

9 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2015

I was driving my vehicle that I had just purchased off the parking lot of the dealer when I noticed that the brake light was on the dashboard I proceeded to stop and when I pressed on the brake pedal the vehicle delayed to come to a full stop. I also heard a weird noise sounded like a grinding noise and springs coming from the brake pedal.

10 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2015

The driver side airbag is not working due to a faulty harness assembly. The fuel gauge does not measure fuel accurately. The abs brake light comes on and the brakes stop working while you are driving. Nissan refuses to fix the issues without us paying over 3 grand even though these items were recalled on other Nissans but there is no recall on this particular Nissan. This Nissan needs to be added to the recalls. We bought the car 5 months ago from go automotive and they also refused to fix the issues.

11 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2015

Brakes stutter and brake light come on with out warning car does not stop, if you turn vehicle off the problems goes away, local streets usual at speeds of 35 to 45 trying to stop at traffic light. . Very scary.

12 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2015

SUV ran out of gas at highway speed in center lane during heavy traffic on wife and kids, gauge read 1/4 of tank. Stepped on brake didn't work had a load noise, vdc light, brake light on dash. Understand now that abs system failed and fuel sending unit failed. Nissan has told me that they have a recall on the fuel sending unit on the same year make and model but not mine? they have tried really hard to kill my family with this faulty expensive equipment.

13 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2015

I was driving in light traffic, pushed on the brake pedal, the brake light (not abs) illuminated on the instrument panel, I heard a grinding sound and almost pushed the pedal to the floor. I pulled over, turned the truck off, and restarted it. The brake light remained illuminated, but I was able to brake. After turning it off and letting it sit for about 30 minutes, I turned it on again. The brake light was no longer on and the brakes engaged. I took it to a brake shop on 3/27/15 and was told that my pads are fine. They also checked the fluid and the level was ok. I contacted a local Nissan dealer and was told that there aren't any recalls. They have not received any reports from consumers about this type of issue occurring, but could not provide an explanation as to why this happened and could be reset by turning the vehicle off. This also happened previously, but I don't recall exactly when.

14 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2015

As I pressed on brakes to slow the truck down at intersection two days ago, the brake light came on and then a loud metal grinding noise came from the front! the truck now had difficulty stopping; I had to floor it in order for vehicle to come to a complete stop. I nearly rear ended the van that was in front of me! I was in the back roads so there were several stop signs/ intersections on my way home. As I continued driving and braking to slow down/ stop, the grinding noise was very loud and the truck rarely had any brake power! I was terrified and finally was able to slow down enough to pull over on to the side to breathe and calm my nerves down. I put the truck in park and checked to make sure I released the brake pedal, etc. I then continued home where I turned truck off and asked neighbor mechanic to check it for me. He turned truck back on and we drove it to test brakes. Everything was now working fine! it did not sit right with me. I researched online last night and just like the fuel gauge issue that happened a week prior, there are thousands of people affected by this brake failure! when a rep from Nissan consumer svcs called earlier today to follow up regarding my truck's fuel gauge issue, I reported the brake issue. She just said "yes I'm sorry but you will have to pay for dealership to verify issue first in order for Nissan to take some kind of action. " unbelievable. Especially when there are reported incidents out there of this defect. Unfortunately, consumers also report that this brake issue happens intermittently so it's hard to prove/ diagnose. With a fuel gauge issue and now, brake issue, I'm more afraid to drive my truck especially with my children in it! I pray Nissan will step up and do the right thing in taking responsibility of replacing/ repairing these defects. Please don't wait till there are fatalities before doing something about it.

15 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2015

I have a 2005 Nissan Armada and have had it for almost a year. For the past several months my brakes have been acting up. When I am driving my brake light starts flashing and I go to stop and the I can't stop. I have to stop my vehicle where ever I am driving whether it is a highway or main road and stop the car as soon as possible. I have to put it in park, shut the car off and then push the vdc light button after a few seconds and then restart my car. This happens several times a week to me and even up to 4 or 5 times a day this has happened. This is not safe and is an accident waiting to happen when you can't stop your car. This really should be a recall to the vehicle because this is not normal and definitely is a safety issue.

16 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2014

I was driving down the street close to my home (fortunately) and the brake light came on. I hit the brakes to test them to find that the brakes lost most power and the vehicle vibrated horribly. I finally managed to get the vehicle stopped. I then shut it off and then started it back up, which cleared the issue temporarily. A few days later I took it into the dealer who told me the vdc needed to be reprogrammed and that this was a know issue by Nissan for this vehicle. The dealer charged me to fix this known issue, yet less than 1,000 miles later the same thing happened again. Back to the dealer only to be told that now the brake booster needs replacement at a cost of another $1,000 as part of the same known issue. I called Nissan, but they flatly refuse to warranty what they know is a defective system. This vehicle has only 56,000 miles on the odometer.

17 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2014

The incident happened on November 15, 2014 while accelerating from a stop light going north before the intersection (overpass) of carmenita street, norwalk, CA and I-5 freeway at approximately 10 mph. The brake light came on and the brakes lost power along with giving a spring sound. I brought the vehicle to my local mechanic . No problem was found and cannot duplicate the problem as stated and because of this mechanic was not able to resolve the issue/problem. Once the vehicle is turned off and restarted braking power returns to normal and the brake light goes off. This is the first incident that it happened but I was scared and lost confidence in the driving the vehicle especially on freeways with my family as passengers and putting them, myself as well as other people in danger. It seems that I am not alone who experienced this problem on this vehicle after doing a research over the internet.

18 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2014

I have a 2005 Nissan Armada for the past several months my brakes have been acting up. When I am driving my brake light comes on and I go to stop and the I can't stopmakeing a horrible noise. I have to stop my vehicle where ever I am driving and stop the car as soon as possible. I have to put it in park, shut the car off and then after a few seconds and then restart my car. This has happened several time since November and recently has happened twice in the same week . This is not safe and is an accident waiting to happen when you can't stop your car. I did take it to the dealership but since they could not find anyhting they sent me away saying that my rotors have dust on them and I can pay est $100 to pay to have them cleaned. Then recently within the last week ; my husband took the car up there when he was driving it and it did the same thing but they would not see him due to how busy they were alreay in the service department. My family is very important to me and putting them in this car is the scarest thing I have to do on the daily what happens when the brakes dont work ?? this really should be a recall to the vehicle because this is not normal and definitely is a safety issue. I hope Nissan can see that our lives are worth more than whatever the amount they would pay to have all of these cars fixed please Nissan please. Next stop bbb!!!!!!!.

19 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2014

I was on my way home from work and a car cut me off ,I stepped on my brakes and the brakes went down to the floor and I heard and felt a grinding noise. I immediately swerved into the dirt and thank god there was no vehicles parked in the area I had turned into. I noticed my brake light was on . I then slowly made my way home and parked in the driveway. I called the dealership and made an appointment to have my truck checked. On 10/6/14 ,I drove my truck very slow and carefully to the dealership. On 10/7/14 ,I was told a code #c1179 delta sensor was bad and the brake booster assembly needed to be replaced. I went on line to research this problem and discovered numerous complaints regarding this matter . It is a major factory defect with Armadas ,titan and qx56 models from 04 to present and Nissan refuses to acknowledge it.

20 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

As I was on my way back from the store, I was slowing down to come to an intersection to turn when I felt this grinding feeling in the brake pedal. It made an awful noise and I had no brakes per se. The emergency brake light was on, however, I had not put it on. I had to stop as best I could and turn the car off. Only after I turned the car off, did the emergency brake light go off and I could continue. I didn't do it again on the way home, but it has happened several times since then. Once, I had my granddaughter with me and it really scared me because we were on a major highway when someone pulled out in front of me. Luckily I was a safe distance behind and it was rush hour or I might have been actually going down the highway. As it was, I was sitting in traffic. As of now, my "service engine soon light is on" and I can't get it inspected.

21 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2014

While driving, the brake light came on and when pressing the pedal it did not break as usual and it took much longer to stop and the pedal would vibrate and the car made a grinding noise. We pulled over and turned the engine off and on and then it worked. We have had this problem happen several times before but it is happening more often, it happened three times in the past week, to the point that we are afraid to drive it since this might cause an accident.

22 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2014

On 8/12/14 I was driving at approximately 9:15 pm and I was making a left turn onto clarkson avenue from nostrand avenue and all of a sudden my brake light came on and a I heard a spring popping noise when I had put my foot on the brakes. I was scared and drove home very slowly stopping at several lights and the spring poppiing and now grinding noise continued every time I put my foot on the brakes. I had to slowly press the brakes because it seems as if it lost some power. The next morning on 8/13/14 I called aaa to tow me to Nissan. Nissan told me my rotors, brake pads and brake fluid needed to be replaced and that will solve the problem. I had the repair they suggested and drove home and everything was fine. Now today on 8/14/14 the same problem occurred with the brakes again and its 8 p,m, I will have to wait until tomorrow to contact Nissan to see if they can rectify the problem.

23 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2014

While driving the brake lights came on and the brakes made a loud clunking noise. I had to slow down and stop and turn off the car. After counducting an inspection of the brakes, I restarted the car. The brakes were realeased and the brake light went off. This has happened several times since then, not only with me but also with my wife who was driving with my daughter in the vehicle too. After looking at the online forum (club Armada) I determined that the vdc system needed reprogramming (according to all of the many other posts about the same incident). I'm here at the dealership now and it should cost about $100 to fix. We'll see. . . . .

24 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2014

I was on the highway and the brake light came on. When I was exiting the ramp I heard a loud noise and the brakes were grinding. I had to swerve out of the lane to the shoulder because I had lil to no brake power. This is not the 1st time this incident has happened to me. I don't know what the issue is but Nissan needs to resolve it fast because the next person may not be so lucky. My truck is currently at the dealership now do to the brake issue and of course they are unable to detect the problem. I am replacing the brakes and rotors and hopefully that will help elevate the problem. Someone needs to do something and fast before someone is fatally affected by this issue. I will never buy a Nissan again. If this issue does not stop I will be trading my vehicle in and not for another Nissan.

25 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2013

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brakes failed to operate normally and the brake warning light illuminated. The contact also mentioned that this problem has occurred on four separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic which stated that the power brake booster delta sensor had to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 85,000. The current mileage was 122,000.

26 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2013

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, he applied the brakes and the vehicle did not respond. The brake light was illuminated and an abnormal grinding noise was emitted as the failure occurred. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

27 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2013

While driving, the abs brake light comes on and when I try to brake, the brakes make a grinding/groaning noise and the vehicle does not brake properly. This has happened on several occasions. It is always sporadic. When the vehicle is shut off, something resets and it won't do it again. So the Nissan dealership says they can't fix it because they can't find anything wrong. It is a safety issue because it can happen anytime and it affects the brakes working. If there is a crash in the future, it will be the fault of Nissan because I am documenting everything, including this safety complaint.

28 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2013

While driving at 55mph my brake light came on, as I tried to brake my brakes failed and the foot petal hit the floor making a loud shuttering sound. Suddenly my brakes kicked back in but continued to make loud sounds. When I was able to pull over I turned off the engine and when I turned the engine back on the light reset as if nothing happened. This has happened on several occasions. I am terrified. I have taken my Armada to Nissan dealership and they believe its associated with an error message c1179 "delta stroke sensor" but have done nothing to help me. Please help!.

29 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2013

Driving on the interstate I started to hear a metal on metal squealing noise. My parking brake light came on and I pulled off to the side thinking I had forgotten to depress the brake. However, it didn't work. After driving again I couldn't use the brakes so I called the tow and went to the Nissan dealership I was using before. I was told I needed a brake booster replacement. This was almost $1000! I asked if it would fix the issue. I was told yes and that I needed to fix it before it caused a fatality. Of course this scared me and I told them to fix whatever was needed. Twenty-two hundred dollars later and a few months and I'm looking at the same issue happening again. When I notified Nissan they have been too "busy" and said to schedule an appointment. Um, excuse me I can't drive my car! the nonchalant attitude, coupled with the subpar resolution, has me furious. I don't know what to say or think. I feel helpless. This is my only vehicle, it's completely paid off and I don't have room to get another one. I'm with the other posts here that Nissan should value our patronage and look into a fix for this. If that happens to be a replacement vehicle then so be it. But, something needs to be done soon before someone gets hurt due to their negligence.

30 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2013

My son was driving home one night (20 mph) and slowed to make a turn and the brake light came on, there was a clunking noise, and the brakes did not work. He left me a note telling me not to drive the car in the morning - "something seriously wrong with the brakes". When my husband went to check it in the morning there was nothing wrong with brakes. We thought he was crazy. Two weeks later I was pulling into parking lot (2mph), the brake light came on, clunking noise, brakes did not work. After doing some research online and reading these complaints and seeing that once you restart the car the problem goes away, I went out to start the car and everything worked fine. Now 2 weeks later, backing out of the driveway last night, brake light came on, clunking noise and brakes did not work. I have contacted the dealer who sold me the car and he was unaware of any problems. I called a district manager at carmax and he, too, was unaware of the problem. Happening 3 times in 5 weeks is unacceptable. I can not let my children drive the car. I am scared to drive on the highway. Can't believe Nissan won't recognize the problem. I may get an attorney. Class action?.

31 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2013

My wife was driving 65 mph on the interstate and traffic came to a halt. When she went to apply her brakes the pedal went to the floor and the Armada would not stop. She swerved into the grass and it finally rolled to a stop. Pumping the brakes did not work and there was a brake light that came on and it was making a terrible grinding sound. She shut the vehicle off, waited for a few minutes to collect her thoughts and when she turned it back on everything was o. K. No light, no brake problems. From what I read on-line this is an ongoing issue and needs to be addressed and or a recall for this before someone is killed.

32 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2013

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Armada. The contact stated while shifting from reverse to drive, there was a clanking noise. The contact mentioned that the vehicle hesitated and attempted to stall. In addition, the contact stated that the brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was powered off and was able to restart. The failure would recur intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.

33 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

On 3 occasions, my brakes have failed while I have been driving. The red brake light came on. The brakes were grinding and it was extrememly difficult to stop the car. Luckily, I was traveling at low rates of speed each time this happened. The car was towed each time and the mechanic cannot determine what the problem is since it appears that the brakes reset when the car is turned off. I have read on line that many other people have experienced similar problems yet when I called Nissan, they stated that they have only recalled older vehicles for brake issues.

34 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2013

We were driving the vehicle on the highway and all the sudden the brake light came on, as the light came on the brakes gave an anti-lock type response. As this was happening, we were trying to pull to the side of the road and slow down, because if this ongoing reaction though, our brakes were not working to slow the vehicle. We probably had about 25% braking power. This also happened to my wife on the road as she was traveling at 35 miles and hour. Exact same issue only two days earlier. From what I've read online it is a defective delta stroke sensor and brake booster. And seems to be very common in the Armada, titan, and Infiniti qx vehicles. This is an extreme safety hazard. Should this happen at a stop light and we can't stop we would roll right into the intersection, creating a hazard to us and our children. The only way to fix the issue is to turn of the car and it reboots to saying the brake is off.

35 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2013

My brake light came on and when I went to put on my brakes on there was this grinding sound and my brake pedal shuttered and there was a sound like a spring being popped. My husband said that it sounded like there was something wrong with the abs system and I have read online where other people are having the same problems with there vechile but Nissan wont issue a recall on this problem. When you turn the car off the problem go away until the next time that it happens.
