2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2022

I have a 2005 Nissan Armada that has a known problem with its brakes. It has a faulty delta brake sensor and brake booster. What happens is that the brake light comeson, the vehicle losses its braking ability and sounds like metal scraping when you apply the brakes. The issue will reset if you turn off the car. Nissan knows about this issue but has failed to send 2004-2006 Armada owners of information on how to get this fixed at a local dealer. Here is a link to the class action settlement: https://topclassactions. Com/lawsuit-settlements/closed-settlements/Nissan-brake-defect-class-action-settlement/ my complaint is this, there were 350,000 affected vehicles and mine was one of them. I was never notified by Nissan of this faulty part and did not know that Nissan would reimburse me for the repair. The settlement date is now closed but the problem still exists in many Nissan affected vehicles. I called Nissan USA and they said Nissan could do nothing for me. I called my local Nissan dealer and described the problem and they said they could do nothing for me but that I could pay out of pocket to have the brake booster replaced at qa cost of $1500f or parts and labor. The error code associated with this problem is c1179. This issue is a safety issue and it affects the vehicles ability to stop. If you do not see the brake warning light on you do not know that the issue is happening. This could result in a dangerous situation at highway speeds. I would like the NHTSA to get involved and to demand that Nissan repair this known problem free of charge. Scott chase 1601 53rd street, sacramento, CA 95819 916-731-5272.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2022

My breaking system has a malfunction that comes on and off. Sometimes the brakes automatically stop working and start grinding as if I have no brakes, but when I brought it to be looked at they couldn't find the problem. I notice that when you turn the car off and turn it back on the problems of sides for a little while will eventually come back later. For someone to detect it, they cannot shut the car off at the time that is presenting itself.

Failure Date: 10/09/2018

Brake booster randomly failing. Brake booster not working randomly. Original part, never replaced.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2018

The abs hydraulic brake senors have now been replaced twice on my Armada. The brakes will drop to the floor and make all kind of noises won't stop. There had been a recall for all other vins than mine. Dealership said there was nothing they could do other than start changing other parts on my dime. Nissan of America has told me the same thing. We have nearly been in several wrecks. I do not want my wife to end up in one because of this truck. Just bought the second set of these yesterday and nearly hit someone again today. Since I keep a good distance between other traffic and myself is the only reason we haven't been a wreck yet.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

Takata recall brakes not working while driving and pulses and fuel gage not working while driving and parked.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

"takata recall" I experience surprise excelleration three times, once resulting in a minor vehicle accident with minor body damage. All three occurred on a city street while in starting motion going straight ahead.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2016

Reading the complaints and found others the same as mine. Have taken the Nissan to the dealer at least three, maybe four times, complaining of the emergency brake engaging while driving when the emergency brake was off. This has happened when entering a freeway (highway) and driving on a city street. When taken to the dealer they could not find anything wrong. While I appreciate that others have the same problem and it is not a fluke, it is disconcerting and dangerous. The last time this happened was 7/23/16!.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2015

I have had numerous issues starting in 13' with the ecm being replaced after 05' Armada stalled on highway traveling 70 miles/hour in heavy traffic. Recently in early 15' I ran out of gas when fuel gauge displayed a quarter tank of gas at a red light. Also in early 15' my a/c will only work when on high. Both of these issues are known & are listed as recalls that I will be making a service appointment with my local Nissan dealer to research, correct & fix. There are numerous reports of similar & exact known issues online. Most recently in November 15' I was picking my children up from school in the rain. I was traveling home when I had to apply my breaks, but they did not perform as they should. The breaks made a spring sound, the brake peddle had little to no resistance when I applied my foot to stop & the break light came on. I had to veer off the road & ran into a fence post very lightly with minimal damage to my front chrome bumper. I turned car off & immediately checked on my two children in the back seat. We were all ok, thank god. I started Armada to find that the break light was no longer on. I hesitated to drive due to what had just happened. I was only 3 miles from home so I slowly attempted to continue home. The Armada drove perfect & the breaks functioned as they should with no issues. I googled incident to find numerous complaints & reports with similar to identical complaints/know issue reported & filed. I was blessed that my family was ok & I was able to avoid a serious potentially life threatening accident with loss of breaks one time for no reason. This was the 1st time this has happened and has not happened since. I feel this should be an immediate recall due to the severity of outcome it could cause with temporary break failure. No need for lifes to be lost or lawsuits to make it right and correct/fix issue at no cost.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2015

Break system failure has happened to me more than once. For some reason it sounds like they're are rocks in between my brakes and the rotors. I have to reset the system by shutting the car off and turning it back on. I almost had an accident on the freeway because of it and no indication other than the noise that it was happening. Also, when a passenger is in the seat the airbag light does not turn off. I and hasn't for over 5 years. The driver side and/or passenger side seat belts also do not get recognized as being used since the flash indicator on the dash keeps flashing. When I took t in to the dealer they said there are no recalls but it's a safety issue. The vehicle has less than 110000 miles on it and had less than 80000 when these issues started. I just want my vehicle to be safe and everyone else who has the same one. Brake system, dealer can't diagnose unless I drive in there with the problem which isn't safe and happens occasionally. I may have video of the noise from the brake system which I will look for.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2015

While I was driving brakes donot work I almost crash , to traumatic.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2015

I was going down 4 lane hwy and started to slow down approaching intersection. The brakes went all the way to the floor and started shaking violently. It felt like the vehicle was going to shake off the axel. I just knew I was going to hit the car next to me. I had to drive home 15 mph because every time I touched the brakes the car would violently shake to the point of pulling me off of the road. When I shut the car off and restarted it, it must have fixed the problem temporarily. It has happened 2 more times. I recently started looking online for any info on the matter and found that it is happening pretty regular to people with the same model and make as mine and also in a pretty close time frame. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is a defect. A very dangerous defect that should be fixed by Nissan before someone gets killed.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2015

The brakes only barely stopped the vehicle after depressing to pedal all the way to the floor. Now some warning lights come on vdc, slip, brake and won't go off. The brakes don't seem to be working properly and the pedal when depressed slowly goes to the floor. I have new brakes, rotors, etc (10,000 miles and the brake fluid is at the proper level. I have read about this same problem from many many people no the web. This is not am isolated problem and should be handled by Nissan and put into a recall. People on the web were referencing a class action law suit. Please look into it.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2014

Brake, vdc and slip lights came on. Use brake pedal, metallic spring noise came from firewall infront of driver. Minimal braking power.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2014

While driving or even just putting it in reverse, when I try to brake it feels like a spongy/stringy pedal that goes to the ground and makes a loud grind noise. You have to turn off the vehicle and it is fine, I have took it in the shop and nothing wrong, I am like really. . . I can't be turning the vehicle off every time it does this, that is a safety issue or a definite recall. . Now this happens several times and with family in the vehicle is a danger I think. Hope there is a recall for this issue. Also seat belts do not retract back after the recall that was done.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2014

Brakes suddenly quit working properly, vibration, grinding, etc. Had to pump brakes to stop. I turned ignition off, set p-brake, then turned vehicle back on, the problem goes away. This has happened several times in the past, I'd say 5 or 6 times in the past 2 years. My brakes and rotors were last replaced about 6 months ago.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2014

The brake, slip and vdc off light come on at once. Lose brake pedal pressure. Pedal goes almost to floor with noise like the abs is on, grinding sound shuddering happens. Turn off and turn on vehicle, issue goes away for anywhere from a day to a few week then happens again. It has happened on mostly dry smooth pavement. It could happen few times a day or few times a week and sometimes not for weeks. I am very afraid to drive because luckily it had happened every time I was 20 mph or below.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Nissan aramada. The contact stated while driving her vehicle and switching lanes her vehicle independently and inadvertenly depressed the brake. The contact took her vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer stated the booster brake would have to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Cannot stop vehicle on a hard stop; vehicle catches but will not stop quickly. Ran red light because unable to make hard stop.

24 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2013

While pulling my car trailer with a loaded car on the trailer the brakes on the Armada stopped working. The anti-lock brakes started pulsating really fast to the point the pedal went to the floor. I had to serve around the can in front of me and I ran the red light. This is the 4th time this SUV has done this.

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2013

Wont write a whole story as there are many here to go around about the same problem. So in short , my abs brakes are activating when brakes are applied as I come to stop sign ,causing groaning ,banging noises and feel spongy. Nissan you have gotten many complaints on this, so assign someone to start the needed recall and don't wait until a few people are killed to do something about it. Recall this item please. . Its happening to 2 of my Nissan vehicles right now. .

26 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Armada. While driving at an unknown speed, the emergency brake engaged independently. The dealer stated that the brake booster needed to be replaced in order to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,014.

27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2013

The brake, slip and vdc off light come on at once. Lose brake pedal pressure. Pedal goes almost to floor with noise like the abs is on. Slowly can get truck to stop. Turn off and turn on vehicle, issue goes away for anywhere from a day to a few week then happens again. It has happened on mostly dry smooth pavement.

28 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2013

Unable to stop the truck quickly; not able to hard stop. Brakes mushy.

29 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2013

Brake booster malfunctions during normal driving causing unsafe breaking. Brakes almost lock up when pedal is depressed. You have to pull off the road, turn truck off and back on to work, and sometimes you have to do 2 or 3 times. Dealer wants $1k to fix booster and from what I have read, it does not always work fuel gauge malfunctioned, ran out of gas 2 times when gauge still shows 1/4 tank. This is a recall on newer vehicles but mine is a 2005. Airbag light is on and dealer states needs replacing.

30 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2013

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, she applied the brakes as the pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle only decelerated after an extended time frame. The failure recurred eleven subsequent times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis but no cause for failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 90,000. Kmj.

31 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

While driving on the highway and trying to press brake, felt no response from brake or very hard to press brake, so I pulled aside the car.

32 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2011

When cruising at low speed when I release the gas pedal to let the truck coast, it feels like the brakes get applied slightly and the truck starts to loose speed. In my experience with all my automatic transmission cars is that when you release the gas pedal the car would coast and loose speed gradually. But in my Armada it almost feels like the brakes are being applied very slightly.

33 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2011

While driving in the neighborhood around 20 mph, I needed to brake and notice an unusual noise. This noise seems to be coming from the brake booster. In addition, it sounded like the brakes were grinding. I notice that the brake lamp from the instrument cluster was on. Driving slowly, I repeated the braking and it would do the same. So I pulled over to the side of the road and turn off the truck. I turned the truck back on and the brake lamp is now gone. I was able to drive home with no problem. This has occurred to me at least 5 times. I have brought it to the dealership and they did not see any fault code. Did a search on the web and many people have had the same issue. This should be a safety recall since it pertains to the brake system of the vehicle.

34 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

Driving fine then after stopping at a stop sign, car would not accelerate, like it is in a higher gear. After reaching 10mph it drives perfectly fine. If after stopping you cut the engine and restart, it is fine. Reverse works fine. Code p1757 comes up on test. A bad valve body. I've seen this all over the internet mostly on Nissan '05 models, maybe some '06. Very frustrating, Nissan says I need a whole new transmission. I'm thinking a recall should be looked into. It doesn't seem to happen on other year models as much.

35 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2011

While driving the 2005 Nissan Armada, experienced an engage of the braking system, clanging noise, loss of braking at the pedal, park light comes on. Apears as though the abs system has engages. Armada remains locked in this position even after stopping. This condition is recoverable by turn off the power/key and restarting. Seems like a computer just engaged the abs by mistake. Dangerous!.
