1 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2018

My vehicle was acting completely normal no dash lights until I went to stop at a stop light thats when I applied the brakes to come to a stop my breakes were soft grinding noise and did not want to stop. I look at the dash and the break light was on I pulled to the shoulder of the road put in the parking break and released it. Still same issue. Turned the truck off then back on and now is working completely normal again. After doing research this is a very common problem on the Nissan Armadas and titans. It is found to be a faulty break booster and sensor. I had 2 of my children with me. It was a frightening experience not knowing if I was going to be able to stop my vehicle. Nissan needs this booster to be recalled. There is absolutely no warning that you may loose your breaks.

2 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2016

Own a 2006 Nissan Armada le. Started my truck and the brake, vdc, slip, and 4wd lights lit up on the dashboard. Thought it appeared because it was getting cold. Drove a couple of blocks down a city a street and heard a loud grinding noise when the brakes were pressed and the truck jolted a little bit. After another block, lights went away and didn't have more any issues on the way home. When I got home, turn the truck off and restarted the truck, no lights. Did a google search and read many issues relating to this. A couple a days later checked the truck, on start-up. . . No lights, then when I put it in drive, the same lights lit up. Took it to the dealership, lights were lit, brakes engaged, and speedometer was fluctuating and then didn't move. When I arrived at the dealership, speedometer activated again when the truck was put in park. Nissan dealership did a diagnostic test and the advisor indicated both the ecm and abs actuator assembly were fried and needed to be replaced, $3,100 to start out with. Truck is still at the shop, no work has started. Notified Nissan customer relations since there is a known issue, waiting to hear back. Also called another dealership to see what they could tell me and it was mentioned that there is a known issue. Called the service dept. Back the next day and talked to another advisor, the advisor indicated since there are some are hard codes (u1000, u1001) displayed with the ecm and abs assembly, the systems potentially need to be replaced.

3 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2016

I was going down east chase parkway in fort worth going towards green oaks blvd into arlington texas and my brakes went out. I heard a grinding noise and my truck wouldn't stop. So, I pulled over and car my truck off and on and the problem seemed to go away. I proceeded on my way and they went out again and I almost rear ended a 18-wheeler with my two babies in the car. I immediately ran up on a curb to not hit the semi. And, immediately went to a brakes shop and was told it was my brake booster kit that was attached to the abs system. That was recalled and since I didn't find out til later and didn't have problems til later on I got screwed and had to pay over $1300. 00 dollars to fix it. And, have yet to be reimbursed which I think sucks.

7 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2013

The vehicle differential control stopped working and caused a brake failure. The vehicle slide through a red light into an intersection where it was struck in the side by another vehicle. After the incident, I checked the brakes and it had stopped. This was one incident of many. The vehicle's brakes stop working and makes a grinding noise. If I turn the vehicle off and restart it, it will stop doing it. The vehicles brake pads, calipers, and brake booster has been replaced and it still continues to do it. There is no consistency to this occurring. It does this periodically with the same result. I researched the problem and it seems this is and has been a problem involving Nissan Armadas nationwide with serious consequences. There are tens of thousands of complaints being reported on the internet all of these complaints are described the same way. In fact I received a notice on a class action suite being filed against Nissan for this problem. I work for NHTSA and attempted to discuss this problem with odi to no avail. I would expect some sort of response when me and the public make complaints that can and will be life threatening. How many complaints and or how many people need to be involved in crashes, injuries, and/or deaths before something is done. The incident described is one event among many. It has also occurred on the interstate at much higher speeds. The only way to clear it is to turn the vehicle off and crank it back up again. The dealer will not recognize there is a defect, instead they continue to replace brake parts, at the owners expense hoping this will fix the problem. .

10 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

I own a 2006 Nissan Armada le. It has recently had serious braking problems, it is intermittent, it doesn't happen consistently. Approx. 2 weeks ago I was driving home with my children in the truck, I went to apply the brakes and they did not engage at all. I had no braking power, then it started making grinding noises but I still could not stop in a safe manner. My husband looked at the car and we switched keys-meaning we turned the truck off then on again. After the truck was turned off the brakes began to perform normally. We took the truck to les schwabb and they couldn't find anything wrong with the brakes but they bled the system and put new fluid in. It has happened several times since and the fix is always turning the truck off. I and my children were put in a very dangerous position on a major road. I looked on the internet and there are pages and pages of people that have had the same problem with their 2006 Armada's. Nissan needs to recall these vehicles immediately and fix this problem before more people are injured.

11 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2010

When starting out from a parked position, sometimes the brakes will make a grinding noise when pressed. If you hit your brakes during this period there is a grind pulsating feeling in the brakes. I don't know if the brakes are really even working during this time, but the only the way to clear this is to somehow stop the car without destroying something and turning the car off and then restarting it. This seems to fix the problem. But it will intermittently do it again in about a month or so. Is Nissan doing anything about this problem? I never really feel secure driving because I don't know if this will happen when I 'm at full speed and really need the brakes!.

12 Brake Grinding Noise problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2007

Brake indicator on dash lights up, horrible grinding noise and car has very little braking ability. Had to pull over and let car slowly coast to a stop. Switched off engine set for a few minutes, restarted and vehicle was back to normal. Multiple times. Took in to dealer and was told could possibly be a brake booster at a cost of about 1000. Oo . ( 1000 dollar guess for a possible life threatening issue ???) looked in forum and found out that this is happening quite a bit but nissaan is not doing anything to fix. Are they waiting for someone to die before they do recall. Car has been sitting for months . Can't risk having family in car and not being able to stop at anytime.
