Brand?new 2026 Nissan Armada suffered catastrophic engine failure at under 5,000 miles. Fault codes p21a1, p0019, p0326, and p219c were identified by an ase master technician. Technician warned of internal mechanical failure and a risk of fire or explosion. Vehicle became undriveable and was towed to the dealership. Technician instructed that the engine should not be started due to safety risk.
Unknown - engine developed knock that could potentially lead to catastrophic engine failure during normal driving conditions, causing loss of control or inability to stop. Ntb19-057a is a technical service bulletin issued by manufacturer - cylinder 7 scuffing with a short block or complete engine replacement as the fix. Manufacturer will not replace engine outside of vehicle warranty period, even with documented maintenance proving engine failure is not due to lack of being maintained.

My family and I traveled to ohio to visit family. After stopping for fuel, 6hrs into our drive, our 2021 Nissan Armada started bucking, skipping, and eventually stalled 50 yards from the fuel station. Several attempts at restarting the vehicle resulted in a sputtering idle and stall. This put my family is grave danger as we were beginning our acceleration onto the interstate at 11pm eastern standard time. After some research, our vehicle doesnt fall under the recall for faulty pump. The pump assembly is $900 as well as a $700 tow bill. This is very dangerous and its evident their's more Armadas with the faulty pump than Nissan originally recalled. My wife and I are extremely disappointed and frightened to drive this SUV 10 hours back home once its fixed. Please review and consider our vehicle for reimbursement for the near miss situation. Best regards.

I’ve had to replace the battery three times in three years that I’ve owned the vehicle I purchased it used. The transmission jerks like it’s slipping. It has done this ever since I purchased it no recalls on transmission. The side door airbag sensor is defective. The airbag light flashes on the dashboard took it to the new Nissan dealership was gonna cost five to $7000 for the sensor so that airbag will not deploy in the driver side door. I had a 2010 Nissan Armada airbag sensor went out and the steering wheel and it was outrageous to replace that airbag sensor no recalls I will never buy a Nissan Armada again. . I have had all maintenance and upkeep completed at the dealership on my vehicle. Why is there not a transmission recall an airbag recalls on these vehicles?.

Battery drain happens and vehicle will be hard to start or not start at all. New battery was installed and 4 months later, same issue. It has been taken into dealership multiple times and they can never recreate the issue and have found nothing wrong with the vehicle to repair. This has caused wife and kids to be stranded because vehicle won’t start. No warning lights, nothing that the dealership found to cause issue.

The vehicle radiator fan clutch engaged all the time and slowed acceleration responsiveness. This could cause safety issues when the vehicle responds to gas differently. This seemed to be a common component that goes out on Armada.
The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times after refueling. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed that the fuel pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The fuel pump was replaced. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The contact was informed that the year, make, and model were not included in the NHTSA campaign number: 25v676000 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 157,000.
Vehicle battery is being drained. The vehicle won’t start. Purchase a new battery on March 2025. Vehicle car fax states a new battery was installed in vehicle in may 2024. I purchased the vehicle on September 4, 2024.
No start, no codes. Have replaced brake switch several times and it fixes it for a bit and then happens again. I have read several forums and it seems to be a commen issue but no recalls for fault. 2018 Nissan Armada platinum. Shouldn't have to keep replacing switch.
The middle section of lights in the instrument panel has been blinking on/off intermittently for about two weeks. This makes it difficult to see your speed while driving at night and it's distracting, which causes me to take my eyes off the road for longer than I consider safe. Also, intermittently the truck hesitates to start, today it had to be towed to the dealer. After the diagnosis, I was told the instrument cluster assembly should be replaced to resolve the light panel issue and the starter needs to be replaced. I find it surprising that the instrument panel would go out so soon. I wonder if this is connected to the previous intermittent bci (backup collision intervention) malfunction lights on the dash issue I had a few years ago. Additionally, I've had to replace the battery in the truck three times in the last four years since I purchased it (pre-owned). Which is not normal at all. We could not figure out what was causing the batteries to keep draining. The last battery I got was replaced by Nissan (free of charge) and I haven't had any issues with it dying since then. With so many complaints about this instrument cluster assembly I've been reading that have been reported over the last few years how many does it take to be considered a recall?.
The vehicle won't start all the dashboard lights come on but the truck will not start I got a warning alarm message that the cbi has a malfunction .
The contact owns a 2018 Nissan Armada. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the nhsta hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Timing chain oil leak from faulty gasket.
Was driving on a smooth road when suddenly airbag light on dash came on flashing. All the steering wheel buttons are working. Brought car to mechanic's shop to scan obd2, no dtc codes. Mechanic says they don't know what it is without a code. Nissan has been shady lately with technical service bulletins TSB instead of recalls. TSB according to Nissan hq is a repair at the discretion of the dealer meaning that they do not have to repair it even while it was under warranty. I had some piston slapping noise and burning smell coming from engine bay while under warranty the dealer mechanic said," the noise is normal that of a SUV and the burnt smell was the peanut packing oil burning off the outside of the engine". There was a TSB put out a few months later saying that Nissan acknowledged a defective short block in the engine causing abnormal wear on the piston. I brought it into the dealer and they refused to replace the short block and damaged cylinder. Nhtsa needs to up their game and force these auto companies to be accountable. Years back my first edition Honda accord v6 had failed brakes that made me have an accident totaling the car. Veered off side of highway to minimize harm to others. Three years after the accident a recall on that models brakes came up. I was never given money for the totalled car by Honda. They need to be held accountable. Please take action and force the recalls instead of waiting for more people to be injured. Just look at the complaints on this make and model, why hasn't an investigation even begun? airbag should be a top priority in recalls. Especially a blinking light with no explanation is a ticking time bomb that can set off an airbag at any given notice worst yet not deploy when there is an actual accident.
We just keep having endless safety issues. We would be on freeway and all of a sudden it would stop while driving on freeway!and car going really fast, and almost hitting us my whole family terrified. . When pressing button to start, car gets stuck mid turn on and shakes. Doesn’t fully turn on and continues shaking. Button stops working. After multiple presses eventually turns car back off. Sometimes happens twice in a row or will start after the shaking on off.
Engine failure at 68,000 miles cylinder 7 scouring like previous years had this issue but my vehicle is affected as well.
Ticking sound from engine. Inspection found failure in cylinder #6, removed spark plug and inspected head. Found metal circulating and damage to cylinder. Engine replacement recommended.
This vehicle has less than 24k miles, and just surpassed the warranty period and suddenly with no explanation, it won't start due to a faulty start switch in the brake pedal which must be depressed to start the vehicle or shift into drive. 90% of the time the vehicle will not start. Only after spending 10-20 fidgeting with the break pedal while simultaneously pushing the start button and moving the gear knob will the vehicle start if you are lucky. Then you can spend another 20 minutes trying to get the vehicle to go into gear. The dealer and Nissan refuse to recall this item despite over one million complaints on the issue, and a history or recalls on other models with the same switch. But the dealer is happy to charge over $1500 to replace it. After spending nearly 70,000 on these cars new, few people are willing to throw $1500 at it with so few miles. Now the vehicle has serious problems. While driving down the road, the car will suddenly and instantly lock the brakes with no warning. This happened twice. Once in the street and one on the highway. In addition, the bci malfunction and several other lights come on and many of the main funtions of the car just shut down while driving.
It will stall out when we try to start the vehicle. The battery is still pretty new and there are no check engine lights on. It will stall 2 or 3 times but then start about 5 to 10 minutes later.
Randomly fails to start. New batteries installed and still fails to start at random times.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that the vehicle made ticking noises during start-up. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a misfire in cylinder # 7, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to cover 50% of the repair cost. The contact related the failure to technical service bulletin: 19-057a (engine knock or tick noise); however, the vehicle was not covered by the TSB. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the charcoal canister purge valve. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the fuel pump and o-ring. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure again reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who determined the fuel cap needed to be replaced. Again, the failure reoccurred, the check engine light illuminated, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for diagnosis. The dealer then diagnosed an additional failure with the battery, advising the contact that a larger battery was required. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was 74,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Armada. The contact stated while driving at 65 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with needing the gas cap to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated in June 2023, while driving 5 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact shifted into park and was able to restart the vehicle. The contact was able to drive to her destination. The contact had experienced the failure six times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
Multiple times while operating vehicle, vehicle quit running both while idling at a light and while driving down the road at speed. Collision narrowly avoided several times as I tried to steer the car with no power steering or power braking. Unknown if brake lights continued to work. All electrical systems quit, affecting steering, braking and engine power. Engine subsequently restarted, sometimes with difficulty. Dealer unable to diagnose or repair problem. Vehicle is available for inspection. Multiple codes displayed afterwards on code reader. Check engine light stays on. Check engine light reappears after erased by dealer.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Armada. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. An unknown message was displayed after the failure occurred. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

This is a 2018 vehicle, but got a dead battery in early 2021. Got a battery change at that time, however having battery start issue again recently. Can start vehicle with a jump starter, however dealer said battery is still good.
The contact owns a 2019 Nissan Armada. The contact stated while driving 65 mph the vehicle would not accelerate without any warning. The contact was able to pull over on the side of the road and shut down the vehicle and restarted. The vehicle started operating normally but the vehicle would not accelerate pass 20 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnoses and the transmission was replaced and the engine coolant was flushed and replaced, and but the failure reoccurred, and the vehicle heater was not functioning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer once again and they stated that the coolant was leaking into the engine of the vehicle and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact was unsure of the failure mileage.
The brakes light comes on frequently and brakes stop working properly when going over a bump in the road decrease speed then engine fails. Has to be turned off then on to start engine.

Loud engine noise like military tank. Rpm rapidly up and down between 1000 and 3000 with noise.
The 2020 Nissan Armada platinum began with a bci malfunction notification on the dash, as well as multiple other warning lights illuminating on the same time on the dash. As well the low windshield washer fluid light came on after just changing the oil and checking fluids in mid-June. Reservoir was filled with additional washer fluid, the notification went off, but returned 30 minutes later despite the reservoir being full. Later in the day, the gear shift would not immediately engage to allow me to put the car into drive. While sitting at a stop light in a turn lane the car was put into park to adjust the navigation settings. From that point, the car would not shift into any other gear to make the car operational. Panicked and blocking traffic in the road, the car was turned off in the hopes it could be turned back on and it would engage the gear shift. The Armada would not start after that point at all. I sat for ten minutes attempting to restart the car, constantly having to get out of my car to waive traffic around me, putting myself at risk of being hit. Thankfully, a local fire dept was coming back from a call, and stopped to assist me. They blocked traffic to my right with their fire engine, and a family member came and blocked traffic from behind me with their vehicle to keep me safer than I had been. The firemen tried everything they could to get the car to start to get the car to safety as we contacted a tow truck. With no success after another 20 minutes, they had to get a long screwdriver from the fire engine to release the shift lock to be able to put the Armada in neutral. It took three firemen, and a family member to be able to push the car across three lanes of traffic, with the fire engine driving alongside my right to block traffic, pushing me into a busy intersection (at one point with an 18-wheel coming at us) to make a right onto the connecting street to a gas station parking lot to await a tow to the dealership. So scary!.
The contact owned a 2006 Nissan Armada. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 mph and approaching a stop sign, the contact became aware smoke and then a fire coming from underneath the hood. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact and passenger exited the vehicle safely. The contact stated that she had minor hip pain but did not seek medical attention. The contact stated that the fire department arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire but not before the vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number 10v517000 (engine and engine cooling) and 08v284000 (equipment) for which the VIN was included. The approximate failure mileage was 182,000.

The engine is failing on many Nissan vehicles with the Nissan vk56vd (gasoline v8) engine. Cylinder 7 on the engine has significant scouring, and there is a Nissan technical service bulletin (ntb19-057a) indicating this problem is widespread among 2017-2019 Nissan Armada, nv, titan, and titan xd models. This is a major safety concern. When there is a problem with the engine, the vehicle may stall, lose power, or even catch fire. If a driver loses the power from the engine while driving, or is unable to accelerate as expected, the vehicle could be at risk of getting hit, seriously injuring the occupants of all vehicles involved. The problem has been diagnosed, reproduced, and confirmed by kline Nissan in maplewood, mn. The vehicle was inspected by kline Nissan. Diagnosis details attached, along with borescope photo showing significant scouring in cylinder 7. Repair action is a new engine short block. My vehicle was outside the 60000 mile powertrain warranty window at the time of inspection. My service advisor at kline Nissan contacted Nissan consumer affairs to submit a factory goodwill case, but was informed by Nissan consumer affairs that they would not be assisting in the replacement of their defective engine. The concern I share with NHTSA is the cost I was quoted to repair this problem is $9203. 70. This problem is so widespread, among 3 years of Nissan's vehicles, I expect very few vehicle owners outside of the warranty window will be investing this level of repair in their vehicle. As a result, many of these engines to fail on the road, putting the public highways and roads at major safety risk. There are no warning lamps or messages for this problem, simply a tick noise that gets louder over time as the cylinder continues to get scoured, worn and damaged. This will eventually lead to damage significant enough to unpredictably blow the engine while driving which would be a major safety concern putting the vehicle occupants and others on the road at risk.
Component or system unknown other than personal research. Suspect break sensor or possibly called stop lamp. Again, not positive. My Armada randomly will not start, leaving me stranded many times (with children). When I push the start button, sometimes the car shakes while making a horrible sound and trying to start but never starts. It has to be jumped off before it will start. Sometimes, it just clicks and does nothing. We took to our local midas, who found no codes triggered, battery, alternator, starter etc all good. We drove another week and it happened again so this time we took to the Nissan dealership. Again, they checked everything, found nothing. Upon researching myself, I'm finding many people having this same issue yet Nissan team has no clue what to fix. I'm stuck driving a car that leaves me randomly stranded or doesn't start at all for me to even leave my house. I tried looking up the part myself and adding a new one (desperate to find the issue) but I'm not car savvy and can not locate the "easy" piece near my break pedal. I'm getting desperate and should not have a car with less than 70,000 miles leaving me stranded. No warning lights appear.
