Transmission has been slipping. Happens frequently when stopped at a red light, stop sign. . . When time to go car does not move. Complained to Nissan dealer in 2014 and they suggested changing the fluid. . . Could not find any problems. Fluid was changed and I am still having problems. Will be taking it to another dealer this week. I understand Nissan has had major issues with coolant leaking into transmission as I had a 2005 Nissan Frontier and this is what happened to me. Nissan would not compensate me as my mileage was 100+k. When I treaded in my 2005 for a 2010 I was assured that Nissan had fixed the defect. Here we go again. . . I should have known better!.

I first noticed the incident today in a downtown area, speed of 35 mph. Upon removing my foot from the accelerator the rpm dropped to 1000, not lower, and the vehicle continued to move at the 35 mph. At every opportunity I was able to duplicate the event. As I entered our street I braked reducing speed. The vehicle rpm remained at 1000 and the speed was lower, but requiring braking to slow completly. I inspected the accelator pedal area, with my wife to verify that nothing was blocking the accelator. My wife and I took the vehicle on another test drive and was able to duplicate the event, crusing at 35 mph with no foot on the accelerator, rpm at 1000. The outside temp. Was approx. 102/104f. Weather clear and dry. The vehicle was used over the weekend for a round trip of approx. 700 miles. The vehicle is serviced on a regular basis, mileage upon parking was 18,135. I think this is potentially a serious safe issue.

When I got out of college the first thing I wanted to do was to buy my dream car. I had been looking into getting a truck and I was debating between my number one choice a Nissan Frontier or 2nd choice Toyota tacoma. I knew the tacoma was probably more reliable in terms of minor parts yet I just loved the design of the Frontier and therefore I bought one in 2006 brand new. Ever since it has been my preferred and only way of transportation. I knew that maintaining it was imperative therefore when it came to an oil change, change of suspension trusts, transmission service, change of spark plugs; it was all done at the proper time. Yet my truck started giving me issues 4 months ago when it would shake or shimmer on road and freeway. Did several tire rotations, did suspension change, yet the issue still persisted. It all came down to a screeching halt when I was going up to sequoia national park for a hike with friends. My Frontier all of a sudden started loosing power and then the gears would just not change. Eventually my 'engine service soon' appeared and was forced to stop our trip. Had to hire a tow truck to bring down the truck and upon scanning I got a p1759 code. Upon researching I come to find out this is a common issue with not only this line of truck but also xterra and titan brands. You cannot believe my disappointment. If it were something simple I wouldn't mind but transmission?!? really?!? because of somebodies' mistake when it came to the engineering of the truck?!? and to find out Nissan is just ignoring the issue. Total disappointment and frustration! now I have to wait for our sweet government to take action since this is a perfect example of a major corporation irresponsibility and ultimately. . . . Greed. Be warned all Frontier drivers, your time will come.

My car starts and idle but do not accelerate the ipdm is not working perfectly.
I was driving on the interstate, and then all the sudden the rpms went up and I had no control with the gas pedal, like it was in neutral, I pulled over to the shoulder put it in park, put it back in drive and it started to go again, as soon as I hit 4th gear it did it again. Took it to the transmission shop and the told me it was the radiator leaking into the transmission because of a cracked line. See this has been happening frequently with this model, why no warning or recall?.
The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Frontier. While pulling out from a parking spot in reverse, the contact's foot became stuck near the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal causing the vehicle to surge at a high rate of speed to 80 mph. The contact had extreme difficulty getting his foot released from the accelerator pedal and the vehicle crashed into a vehicle in reverse and into shopping carts which then crashed into a third vehicle. The driver and the front passenger sustained whip lash, back pains and minor bruising. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was not available.
I had just filled my tank with fuel. I pulled of the lot of the station into traffic, notice my fuel gauge didn't never register the fuel just added. Moments later the low fuel light came on and the service engine soon light also. I circle back to the station where the fuel was purchase and the truck began to sputter. I return to the station and proceeded to the clerk that sold me the fuel and explained what happen. I was thinking it was a problem with the fuel. Clerk stated she would record my claim/ I left the station and proceeded to drive home where I arrive safely.

While driving, the truck stalled on a hill due to transmission failure. Truck began rolling backwards into traffic. Transmission failure was caused by radiator coolant leaking into transmission. This is a known issue by Nissan, and a safety concern.
My vehicle shuddered and felt to slip out of gear while driving! because of this known issue of leaking coolant causes transmission failure. I bought this Frontier with very low miles and was never told of this potential issue from the dealership. It should be a safety recall as it prevents the vehicle from accelerating and if you are driving can cause an accident. I am now reading that Nissan owners have no idea this is happening until too late. Once the coolant is mixed with the transmission fluid this lethal combination kills the valves, seals and torque converter -- rendering your entire transmission useless. I read that this issue is currently contained to the 2005—2010 model years. I have a 2006 with 64k miles! it is only time until this issue causes multiple accidents since this issue happens while cars are driving. Please push Nissan for a recall. I should not have to pay for a known engineering / manufacturing defect.
The d for drive would no longer show -to took it transmission place and they detected coolant leak into transmission. Found out Nissan had lost a class action suit over this and realized my truck is over limit for milage this is second major repair for this vehicle had a transmission control module replaced and was partially reimbursed after a big fight with dealer and Nissan. Will never buy another Nissan after this I hope you hang them out to dry over this.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that there was a drastic delay upon pressing the accelerator pedal. Three to five seconds later, the vehicle surged forward with a high rate of speed without warning. The contact indicated that the failure was getting progressively worse. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer more than once and they were not able to diagnose and replicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure several times and provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

On my truck I experienced a sudden loss in power and throttle response while driving without warning, as the transmission failed to shift gears properly. After spending $100 for a diagnostic from a mechanic it was found that my transmission cooler reservoir is leaking in my radiator and caused cross contamination between my antifreeze and atf. The antifreeze is getting into my transmission and boiling once the transmission reaches operating temperatures. The antifreeze vapor is then causing the transmission clutches and bands to not be able to engage correctly, and therefore not being able to shift up and down through the gears properly. I just about got hit trying to turn left out onto the road in front of cross traffic. I avoided an accident, but this happened with no warning. This fix is going to cost me anywhere from $500 to $5,000 to fix depending on the extent of the damage the antifreeze in my transmission caused. I just read that a few years ago Nissan extended the warranty due to this, and I am past that point, but this is still unacceptable at only 102,000 miles. Nissan should have recalled this and fixed it when it was just a couple hundred dollars for a new radiator years ago. Lastly, my truck without issues was worth nearly $8k in its condition, now I¿ll have trouble getting a dealer to pay anything in trade-in value if I choose to not fix the truck.
I was driving and noticed that when I slowed down or stopped, then tried to go again the car hesitated, then took off fast all at once. At times even when the gas pedal was floored the car wouldn't go, then would take off. I tried changing gas, an additive, nothing helped. I had a neighbor drive the car and he said get it in before you kill someone. I called a couple of shops, but eventually went to the dealership and told them what was happening. They diagnosed a major engine problem that there was a class action lawsuit that was ruled against Nissan. They said I needed a 5000 dollar repair, but they would only charge me 2500 because of the lawsuit. It seems they only cover full price up to 80000 miles. I was 600 miles past there repair line. I explained that I had tried many things, and the problem was going on long before the 80000 mile mark. I offered proof by calling the shops and trying to put them on the phone with Nissan, they would not take the phone. I called the neighbor to talk to them as proof that he drove the truck more than a month earlier and the problems were severe. They would not take the phone. They eventually gave me the Nissan consumer affairs number, and consumer affairs gave me a case number and have not returned a call since. Whenever I call they say someone will return your call by the end of the day, of course nobody does. Meanwhile, the problem is getting worse, and I am getting scared to even drive the truck anymore. Then I came across you guys and it seems that you are aware of the problem, and have had other people like me. Please help.
I was driving in a parking lot approximately 15 20 miles per hour, I applied the break to slow down to an appropriate speed in order to go around a corner, the truck then accelerated causing me to jump the curb and hit the mail boxes. The truck accelerated to approx. 30-40 mph.
On my way to work, 4/13/2014, Sunday a. M. Sudden loss of power (no forward motion) I had to immediately pull over to the slow lane and stopped. There was no other option on alameda blvd. All lanes on both sides of the blvd. Had to tow to carson Nissan, they inspected the transmission and said it was bad due to the radiator. . . . . . I have noticed other complaints and I am wondering if this site is worthwhile I truly hope so, please and thank you. . . . .
2013 Nissan Frontier. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle intermittent acceleration problems at low speed. The consumer stated the incident would happen, when merging into traffic. The vehicle would move and then stall.
No power to wheels. . . Transmission coolant and engine coolant mix together due to malfunction in radiator causing catastrophic transmission failure. Cost to replace radiator and transmission is $5200. . . Research on this matter indicates that Nissan corp. Knew of the problem and that a class action law suit coving this defect has been approved, but, the deadline to apply has passed. . . My truck just broke and it is now too late to register for the approved class action law suit. How can I get reembursed like so many others have???.
Was driving fine up to the point where we seemed to have lost all ability to accelerate. When we pressed the gas, it appeared to be in neutral, although it wasn't. This happened as we drove down the middle of the road. We ended up coasting to the side and put the truck into park, then reengaged the gear shift into drive, it then took off and we slowly drove to a parking lot before it failed again. No warning signs on the dash indicated a problem (still no indication) or any sign of trouble before the transmission just fails. This is a known issue with this year and style of truck and no one made us aware. We have had this truck since we bought it new, never received any notification of the known defect from Nissan. It would have been nice to know the radiator leaks into the transmission and causes transmission failure. We would have had this replaced prior to the failure.
2 months ago I had a leak in the radiator and I fixed it. Then after that I start having problem with the transmission. The speed does not change immediately and when it change you feel like some has pushed you from the back. And now the car does not drive anymore.
The vehicle struggle to accelerate when pressing on the accelerator.
I use my truck every day. I started to getting problem with the transmission. I did a diagnostic on the transmission and it came that the transmission is infected and it need to be change. I just got these truck like 4 month ago.
Brakes cannot be properly fixed due to defective rear axle seals leaking fluid onto brake pads and calipers. Have had all brakes repaired and vehicle still does not brake correctly or safely. I have had numerous close calls due to axle fluid on the rear brake pads. Nissan refuses to provide a recall even though this is a serious safety issue. 2006 Nissan Frontier, 75,000.
I was driving on the freeway and notice smoke coming from near (it turns out it was coming from underneath) about few seconds later the check engine light is flashing, my Nissan pickup engine lost some speed and it appears to have lost power as well because it was not accelerating. I took it for inspection to 2 different auto shops locally and have gotten the same reports from both shops. I have a bad transmission and radiator coolant leaks seems to have caused the transmission failure. I have taken my pickup to Nissan after learning about the extended warrenty to roseville future Nissan and they seems have agreed about this known issue. They said Nissan has extended the warranty up to 100k mikes (so technical it should be covered), however they are asking for 3000k for deductible. I have contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they said they are waiting for court to decide on this known issue and will not be able to help until it's resolved. I did some research online and found out I was not the only one having this issue. Please help and advise if I need to take action against Nissan as this is clearly a known issue and they should not be asking for 3k. . Read more...
Whilst trying to drive forward, the vehicle is unable to have enough momentum to drive- in other words the transmission is not functioning correctly. According to the mechanic I brought it to, I was advised that he has seen this happen with this make/model/year before and it is caused due to an issue with the radiator leaking anti-freeze into the transmission system.
Radiator fluid leaked into transmission due to faulty manufacturing causing transmission to break and be chile to stall.
While traveling on the #1 lane at approximately 70mph on the 60 east freeway close to the intersection of the 57 north freeway connector, I lost full power and was forced to make an emergency exit narrowly missing several trucks and cars in the process. After limping home and letting the vehicle sit for a few days, I took the truck to puente hills Nissan complaining that I lose power once the transmission comes to temperature and that I needed them to asses the damage at a cost to me of $130. Their evaluation eventually concluded that the radiator had ruptured causing coolant to leak into the transmission thereby damaging it beyond repair. They quoted me approximately $4,500 for the repair which mainly included labor, tax, a replacement transmission, a new radiator, and all necessary hoses and parts. I was able to drive the vehicle but approximately 1. 5 miles from my home, I lost power once again and was forced to have the vehicle towed the rest of the way. The vehicle is no longer safe to drive at all at this point.
The 2005 Nissan Frontier nismo 4x4 that I was driving started slipping and missing causing my engine to shut down while driving. The engine became very jumpy and could not be controlled. Had there been other people on the road, there could have been a very serious accident.
My 2005 Nissan Frontier has a problem with the radiator that allows coolant to enter the transmission which is causing major damage to the interior parts of the transmission causing it to not shift through the gears. Nissan is only willing to extend the warranty to 100,000 miles and $3000 for the repairs of their defective products.

Nissan has a know radiator problem. Internal leakage into the transmission cooler. Causes catastrophic transmission failure. Pulling away from stop sign. Transmission shifted hard twice. Then had no forward motion, engine would rev up, but not move the vehical. Truck has 100,000 mile Nissan extended powertrain warranty. Was first told by the dealer. 100% covered. Less than an hour later, was told not covered. Cost $5000 plus. Contacted Nissan customer service. Gabby at Nissan siad they would look into it. Took a week for them to finally call back. They asked me to cover $2000. They would not cover the whole bill, even though it is a known defect. And the truck has the extended warranty. I paid $2192. 43 to have the transmission and defective radiator replaced. Asked if the radiator was an updated part. Waiting on a call to find out if it is a better radiator or just a new one with the same defect. Right now. Its a ticking time bomb, if the failure occured in traffic on an interstate, a major crash could have happened.
As I approached a stop sign on a secondary paved highway entering a primary highway, the above vehicle began to skid on a thin layer of gravel laid down on the blacktop for recent ice and snow control. The road was currently clear and dry. I applied the brakes which went halfway to the floorboard without antilock action. Concurrently the accelerator maintained the current speed of approximately 20 miles per hour. The vehicle continued through the stop sign on a collision course with an oncoming vehicle from the left moving at approximately 60 miles per hour. Without control of my vehicle it continued on its own across the primary highway missing the rear of the oncoming vehicle by a foot or two. The other driver appeared not to be aware of my inability to stop and possibly didn't even realize the incident occurred. Fortunately there were no vehicles in the opposite lane coming my direction and I speeded up to clear the highway and continue on the secondary road. At that point my vehicle functioned normally. The brakes worked again and the accelerator appeared to function normally. In essence, from the point of the skid, my vehicle drove itself across the highway. Antilock did not engage and the accelerator appeared to simultaneously malfunction.

The contact owns a 2002 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly began to accelerate. The contact applied the brakes which slowed the vehicle down but it began to accelerate again. The failure occurred several times in one day. The rpms rapidly increased as well. The vehicle slid into an intersection although the contact forcefully depressed the brake pedal. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The contact called the manufacturer and filed a complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 73,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that the driver of the vehicle was driving 10 mph and attempting to enter a parking space when the vehicle abnormally accelerated. She was unable to maintain control of the vehicle as the vehicle independently jumped the sidewalk and crashed into the cement wall of the school building. The front driver side airbag deployed yet the contact sustained injuries to the face, legs and back. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed for the failure nor repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 71,000.
