We started noticing the speed gauge losing speed while driving at around the first of may through June gradually getting worse. When in the last week in June, if you tried to go 70 mph, on the highway, the vehicle would lose power, everything would shut down. Yes it could be harmful on the highway to the passengers and other cars passengers, if it just stalled in the middle of the highway. We have taken the car to a local transmission shop last week. It is at the transmission shop. It was determined that the cvt transmission would have to be replaced. The shop is repairing it now. I thought it was a wonderful car, that would last longer than 3 years. Therefore, I am extremely worried about the cost to fix it. I still owe around $7,200 on it. . I turned [xxx] this year and [xxx]. I would not have bought it if I knew this would happen. Nissan knew about the problem before I bought it. Then I read about them fixing the problem as of July 3. I did report this to Nissan about us having something going wrong with the car. I have not received any word back from Nissan. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Date(s) of incident: multiple incidents from [June 3, 2025] to [July 1, 2025] summary of complaint I am filing this complaint against best price transmissions for negligence, non-compliance with automotive repair safety codes, and unprofessional conduct that has resulted in substantial financial loss, vehicle damage, and emotional distress. I have patronized this shop for years, trusting their work, but my vehicles have repeatedly left their care with more problems than they arrived with. The most recent incident involved an air conditioning repair that led to a coolant leak, the recommendation of unnecessary part replacements, and ultimately damage to my vehicle’s performance. Details of incident 1. Unqualified workers & code non-compliance mechanics admitted to not being certified automotive technicians. One employee intentionally released refrigerant from my ac system, claiming there was “too much pressure. ” repairs involving refrigerants must legally be performed by certified personnel; this was not followed. Several workers could not speak english, making communication difficult and contributing to repair errors. 2. Damage to vehicle my ac and defrost no longer function. Vehicle now runs irregularly, despite having no such issues before their service. Owner previously promised to replace damaged parts caused by their negligence but has not contacted me or honored that agreement. 3. Evidence collected I recorded both video and audio of conversations, mechanical work, and admissions from employees about their lack of certification. Receipts and photos are available to verify the timeline and repairs. 4. Financial & emotional impact I have spent over $2,000 on this matter. I am on a fixed monthly income, making these repeated expenses a severe financial burden. I feel bullied and taken advantage of by the staff, especially since I am disabled and rely on my vehicle for mobility. 5. Attempts at resolution.

The back sunshade cover for the back panorama sunroof juat snapped. A couple of plastic parts were found on the floor. The sunroof was not open at the time it just snapped while driving. I took it to the dealership and they stated it wasn’t under warranty and it would cost over $3000 to replace. For a sunshade that seemed pretty pricey. The sunroof hasn’t been open in month or years.

On [xxx] approximately around [xxx] my Nissan maximum was on fire while I was at work. I begin working at 8:30 am and the vehicle was parked two hours later my coworker ran telling me my car was on fire. The police and fire rescue was called to the scene. The police inspected my vehicle and I have the police report. On 12/13/24 at 1:32pm I spoke with vaibhav the consumer affairs representative from Nissan manufacturer and he confirmed the vehicle has two recalls on the abs braking system. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Unknown. Vehicle on roadway and it just stop accelerating in the middle of traffic. Research of vehicle before purchase refers to several issues that I would like to verify that those items are not a factor in my use of my vehicle. I have concern about lights, airbag, sensor, and I dont want to have a problem where I am in danger or others.
The sunroof inexplicably blew out while driving on a 3-lane interstate normally taken to work every day in the morning, windows were up. This movable portion of the sunroof is part of the panoramic sun roof. The sun shade was open, it is normally left open. Some small pieces of the glass fell onto me and seats but most was sucked up and away from the car. Thankfully, no glass hit me in the face and no cars were around me. I have rear cam footage of the glass flying out behind the car. Front footage shows nothing hit the car, no one was near enough to suspect otherwise. A picture is attached of what is left.
Car randomly ahutting off while driving. No lights no warning justt dies. While caause accident when ot randomly die in the road.
What happened today was the sunroof exploded while driving down the interstate. Loud gunshot sound! lucky the viser was closed when it happened! I have an appointment next week due to dealership backed up but they said I can come by to get it patched until my appointment day. No warning lights, messages, or anything happened before the incident occurred. Just glad no one was hurt and it didn’t cause me to have accident.

I was driving on the highway and the passenger side front pillar trim panel just flew off. This is the second time this has happened to my vehicle, the first time was my rear pillar which I paid to replace myself because I was told at the dealership this is just a cosmetic issue. I disagree, to me this is very hazardous and could potentially hurt someone, and now my car sounds like air is coming through the windshield. I don’t feel safe driving this car now and this kind of thing happening. I would feel awful if this caused an accident or if someone got hurt and I feel that Nissan should take responsibility and correct this defect as I have researched that many people have experienced the same scenario with these parts of the vehicle. The one I had replaced had different clips and definitely feels more secure, but again I don’t think enough people are reporting this issue properly, so I am because it’s dangerous.
I’m havin transmission problems with the car it’s the 3rd transmission I had put in this an it has 70,000 miles an it’s the 3rd time paying out of pocket.
I was driving on i75 driving around 75 mph when all of a sudden the sunroof exploded. It sounded like a shotgun went off over my head and glass started pouring down on top of me. The sunroof malfunctioned without any warning whatsoever. This was a very jarring event to occur on the interstate of all places. Thankfully, I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and exit the interstate using the first available exit and called my insurance company to report the incident.
Car starts, but would not accelerate. Turned the car off, started 10 minutes later, car would not accelerate past 5 mph. Drove a 1/4 block turned around, car’s power steering locked up in drive way. 12 hours later car works fine, no acceleration issues. Brought to Nissan dealership, they found no issues. 2 weeks later, drove for 3-hour trip. Returned home and parked. Started car 30 minutes later, drove 10 minutes and car loses acceleration again in the middle of road/traffic. Able to park safely. Car engine would not restart, lights and hazards working. Error message on dash says incorrect key code. Called a tow, they jumped the car with a jumper pack and engine starts, car accelerates. 1 day later new battery installed, new battery in key fobs. Car is accelerating and starting now. My complaint, my belief that there is a serious design flaw with the keyless start option. Car is not detecting key while in drive every time. No indication given that batteries were low power. Safety issues - no detectable problems found by mechanics, losing acceleration while in traffic possibly due to key fob malfunction. Why is there no option for traditional key start? how can car be trusted to start/ accelerate when driving long distances, when there is no reasonable explanation for the loss of acceleration? this is not a unique issue, a number of complaints online for viewing. Videos on how to ‘fix’ by unplugging car battery. Consumers should not have to diy/disconnect car battery just to start a car. I believe this is a deeper issue with car design and is a safety issue for teen and adult drivers.
Carvana states I have open recalls on my car. However, when I check my VIN on your website it states no open recalls. I reached out to carvana to file a complaint as I wasted 2 hours of my life taking my car to have recalls fixed when the recalls were non-existent. Carvana in turn routes me to file a complaint with you as you send them the codes for recalls. Does my car have recalls or not?.
The airbag light is on and blinking. I did call the local Nissan dealer and they told me there was not a recall for this problem on the 2009 Nissan Maxima. This seems very unfair because several recalls have been made on the airbags. Also I was told over 5 years ago that the struts on my car were defective when I had my brakes repaired. I did call the Nissan company and they told me my year was not included in the recall. My car was driving so badly I was having problems controlling it and I had to go ahead and get the front struts replaced and shocks replaced on the back and they had to put a stabilizer bar (sway bar link) on it also. I recently had this done. This airbag light had come on 4 years ago but I was thinking it was my seat belt light. When I would remove my purse to the floor it would go off. My brother took my manual out and told me it was the airbag and not the seat belt light. It blinks all the time now. I firmly believe the Nissan company know this 2009 Maxima has defects but they refuse to acknowledge it. Appears they could care less about our safety.

2017 Nissan Maxima rear roof has a serious material deterioration occurring on both passenger and driver’s side. This not only creates a vector for water intrusion, but also compromises vehicle integrity and calls into question crash/rollover certifications. Secondary effects, include electrical vehicle integrity and vectors for mold within the cabin affecting occupants health. This is a systemic problem that has been happening with Nissan Maximas (+/-5 years) and has been documented in multiple forums.
May 17,2023 6:30a. M. I drove to work, parked for 9hrs & at 4pm when I went to leave my sunroof was shattered. . There are no trees or anything that is over my car. . It looked as though someone had gotten inside my car & punched the sunroof as the glass was slightly pushed outwards. . My car was locked & no signs of entry. . . Upon my arrival to hudson Nissan I was informed by a Nissan service writer that this happens all the time & he told me to look it up on youtube or google. . After looking it up & seeing that exploding sunroofs happen daily, I did more research & saw there are current & past lawsuits pertaining to exploding sunroofs. . That is also where I saw that I needed to file my exploding sunroof on this site. My car was inspected by a certified Nissan technician that said my entire roof system needed to be replaced. My car was also inspected by a certified state farm adjuster that only wants to pay for the rear glass. Thankfully I was not driving at the time of the incident, however, after viewing several videos of consumers this has happened to, they all said it sounds like a gunshot. . I've been shot, still carry the bullet in my neck, I cannot even imagine how I'd react if I were on the interstate driving 65mph and hear what appears to be a gunshot inside my car. . . Or if my grandson was riding along. I cant say how I'd react,, but im guessing everyone around me would be at risk including myself. . I just can't phathom why this issue is still allowed to happen. The entire process has been a complete nightmare. I've been without a vehicle since may 17, 2023. State farm doesn't want to pay for what the manufacturer/dealership suggests & once I get it fixed I will be trading it. . . I do not ever want to go through this again!.
The trim between rear quarter panels and side rear windows becomes loose and not attached at one end and falls of the cars which might be a hazard for pedestrians at higher speeds.
I just purchased this vehicle. The dashboard gives a reflection on the windshield. It is a visibility hazard. The dashboard is very sticky, like it's melting in the sun.
On February 10, 2023 I purchased a 2022 Nissan Maxima with a little over 19,000 miles on it. Which has a warranty for up to 104,000 miles. Currently at a little over 25,000 miles. Maybe a week later I noticed a noise coming from the rear, so I informed the finance manager, paul. He then goes on to tell me that he's going to schedule a service appointment. The day I went to barnes crossing of starkville they kept saying they didn't see anything or didn't know what was going on. So the finance manager scheduled an appointment with Nissan. When I get there is when I find out the rear end of the car has a lot of parts not connected. As the man at Nissan stated, it's a mess. Which he also took pictures of and sent them to me. Which I sent the pictures to the finance manager, paul. He asks how much is the broken parts, which I had no clue due to it would have to go to a body shop. He mentioned that he would look for another Maxima, that he could trade me out. My complaints about this car startedhe mentioned I would have to take it was going to take a body repair shop. I then inform barnes crossing of starkville. I was told by the finance manager the he would find a body repair shop but never did. Then because there's this strong odor in the car, I tried to get it clean cover it with air fresheners and still the smell is strong. So one day I go in the truck and pull everything out and to my surprise it's full of water. Which I have picture, not only is it full of water looks like mold spots, etc. I tried to clean it and some of the spots would not go. I informed him of this still he was saying they was going to find me another car, still no car. The trunk of the car is steady getting full of water. Nothing is being done, I reached back out and was told I'll have to do the whole process over again because a credit report is only good for 30 days. Which I've been complaining about this car a week after I received it. Mold and water keep appearing I’m sick.

The car went full throttle by itself and would not stop.
Panoramic sunroof lining started to droop and hang on the back portion of the panoramic roof blocking my view before the car reached 2,000 miles. Dealership refuses to fix stating they would have a Nissan representative look at it and make the repair stating the cost would be over 3,000 dollars. After bringing my vehicle I’m twice and leaving at the dealership for over a week, it was never looked at and I was told to pick it back up and would be contacted once they speak to Nissan. After dozens of calls and no returned calls with my questions, my car now has 7900 miles and I am stuck with the fabric rolled up and taped to keep from blocking by view. This was done by the dealership prior to me picking up my car from them. The back seat has the sun and glare constantly in the car due to me not being able to block the light. I’m still fighting this issue with them. Nissan consumer affairs will not return my calls after the representative left me a message stating I could call them back anytime with any concerns or questions even though my several messages asked that a Nissan engineer or representative inspect my car. My dealership stated, prior to promising me Nissan would look at it, said that someone’s head or a heavy box could have put a dent in the framing around the sun roof from the inside of my car even though no one but my 73 year old mother has sat in the back seat one time. I don’t know what else to do to have this taken care of. My brand new car should not have a 3,000 issue I should have to cover the costs for. The steering wheel also rattles when driving and you can hear air flow coming through the back seat area from a window or the sunroof. I also mentioned the air noise issue to Nissan with no return call regarding this.
A recall and class action lawsuit was issued for the 2013 altima but not the 2013 Maxima. They have the same cvt transmission, my cvt transmission on my Maxima just went out. Both the Maxima and the altima should have been included in these recalls if they have the exact same cvt transmission.

We are the original owners of a 2011 Nissan Maxima. The dashboard material is deteriorating, creating a sticky and shiny patch across the base of the windshield which is distracting and highly reflective creating glare from the sun and bright lights impeding the ability to safely drive. The dashboard is also cracking and releasing small parts of black dashboard material throughout the car and the passengers. Online research shows this problem has been reported by many Nissan vehicle owners, at our most recent Nissan service appointment, we asked for assistance to have the part replaced and was told we would have to call Nissan directly to request the repair as it was not a recall item. We called Nissan's consumer affairs and was told there is no support from Nissan to provide assistance and any repair we desired would be at our own cost. Additionally, in our online research there are pending class action lawsuits for this part to be replaced by the manufacturer. There is potential health hazards to the exposure of the deteriorating dashboard. We have not contacted our insurance company for a complaint or repair at this time. It was first noticed about 1 year ago while I was cleaning the car as the duster stuck to the dash in that area and we are now getting to the issue as it continues to further deteriorate.

Car shuts down while driving. Hard to get back started. It runs for 30 min and when you apply gas the car shuts down. Seems like this is an issue on several year models. Try replacing fuel pump and that didn’t happen. Has a new battery and there is still and issue.
On June 9, 2022 @8:50am I was driving my Nissan Maxima to work and as I was at the stop light waiting to go through the intersection, the car shut off completely cutting off all power. I have push button and no electric was working. My jumper cables were in the trunk but I could not access them because the trunk would not operate without power. Without power my hazards did not even work so I could not let traffic flow know that I was in distress. My car almost was hit 3 separate times because of a faulty part or system built by Nissan needs to get their stuff together and quit putting people in danger. I’m scared to drive it now because it could shut off as I am in the act of driving and that could be catastrophic not only for me but for other innocent people. I will be contacting Nissan and they will be fixing this properly! the car was finally jump started and I was able to drive the rest of the way to work. Let’s see if it starts when I have to leave work? so not cool.

Problem 1. Airbag. Driver's side airbag prematurely failed in 2021. Dealer says requires replacement of driver's seat back at $5k problem 2. Transmission failed prematurely (77,000 miles) after placing me in multiple dangerous traffic situations. The car would fail to accelerate and eventually stall while I was turning or simply driving. Once it failed to accelerate when I was turning and I was almost struck by oncoming traffic! it was only the grace of god that saved me.
My car has stopped acceleration while driving 4 times. Had alternator replaced and transmission reprogrammed. It's currently in shop now for issue. Last 3 times Nissan repair says they don't see anything wrong. The car remains on and you can ref up engine. Just will not go once in drive. This is a safety issue bc there's no warning sign. Have almost been hit twice due to sudden lost of acceleration. Cars behind me slammed on break once I was in middle of traffic. Very scary situation.
We are having issues with "melting" or "sticky dashboard of my 2014 Nissan Maxima. Difficult to see when is sunny outside.
I was driving home from durango, CO when I hear a big bang, I pulled over to see that my panoramic sunroof exploded. There no debris that flew and hit my car, it just exploded for no reason at all. We called Nissan of durango where it was purchased as of today we have not heard back from them. This incident took place on 3/5/22 around 3:14 pm. There was no oncoming car, there was a vehicle in the right lane, three land highway. I was going the speed limit of 65 at the time of explosion. It was snowing slightly, but not sticking to the highway. Our claim number is 22-7318190 with progressive insurance.
Dashboard melting/sticky, glare.
Not sure what is going I have spent so much money replacing parts on this car. And it is still not fixed. It’s one thing after another . I cannot fight out why the engine light is on its like the whole care is malfunctioning. And no one knows what it is. And heavy smoke from tail pipe. While driving it feels like it wants to stall like the gas gets stuck . I was told to buy a control module but it didn’t need that . And I can’t afford to keep trying to fix it. It’s my only car and I’m a non working single mom trying my best to fix it. But this car is causing so much depression I don’t know what else to do. Because it’s costing too much and times is already hard.
