Front Air Bag Problems of Nissan Maxima

The contact owns a 2005 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated while driving 60 mph the contact lost control over the vehicle and went airborne and crashed into a ditch, destroying the vehicle. During the crash only the passenger side curtain airbag deployed. The contact stated none of the frontal air bags deployed. The contact suffered injuries to the head and shoulder. The contact stated if the air bag deployed the head injury could have been avoided. The contact had not called the manufacturer at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 108,000.

We own a 2009 Nissan Maxima that was purchased new on September 25, 2009. When driving the vehicle with my wife in the passenger seat the air bag system turns of the airbag. My wife is 5'5" and 125lbs, well within normal adult size. Upon discovering the problem we have taken the vehicle into the dealerships mechanic 4 times over the last 11 months with every time other than the initial visit lasting almost a week each time. The last time we took it in I called the dealership manager and was told that they had no record of our vehicle being in there shop ever. Upon the completion of the final trip to the shop we discussed the issues at length with the service manager of the dealership and we replicated the issue in both the 2010 and 2011 model Maxima's. We have since called Nissan looking to have our car purchased back or have the problem repaired so that the airbag will work with her in the car. At that time we were told that Nissan's airbag system was designed to take into account all factors and make a decision at that time. As of August 20th 2010 we have been told that there is nothing wrong with our car and that the airbag is functioning normally. I also seem to be having transmission jerk problems with my Nissan Maxima. The car has 100000 miles on it. I get a jerking motion when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd that really hurts my neck. It jerks especially hard when making a turn and the car slows down and picks up speed again. And, in my case it also jerks one day and behaves ok another day. Also the problem seems to happen more with a warmer engine, and is rarely happening when the engine is cold.

1. Struck by a small deer on front bumper/grill 2. Both front airbags deployed unnecessarily, and with very little damage to vehicle. Airbag caused minor unnecessary injury. 3. Airbags, module, and seat belts must be replaced. Airbags are not available or back-ordered.

While traveling consumer was involved in a head on collision, whereby, another driver crossed the median at 60 mph. Consumer and passengers were injured because there was no air bag deployment. The driver received multiple injuries to include his head, neck, and ribs. The front passenger sustained a broken finger, and her knees struck the dash. Also, both rear passengers sustained injures. All were transferred via ambulance to a hospital.

While applying the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably. The consumer was not able to maintain control of the vehicle, and it crashed into a parked vehicle. Upon impact, both frontal airbags did deploy. However, no one was injured. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.

While traveling about 45mph on highway an animal ran in front of vehicle on wet roads. Vehicle slid left and went into a guardrail head-on, and neither airbag deployed. Consumer wasn't hurt.

My neck has been hurting since. There was no collision. I did not hit anything. There is no damadge to vehicle. At this point I reported top Nissan corporation they send an investigator and after three days of inspection they said they will notify me in 4 to 6 weeks. The vehicle is covered under extended wareenty. At this point they refuse to repair my vehicle.

Consumer was sitting at a light & was hit from behind. Rear bumper was pushed in the back seat. Airbags didn't deploy & the seatbelt didn't lock. Consumer sustained facial & dental injuries. Manufacturer had an inspector to look at vehicle & found seatbelt & airbag in good working order.

Consumer was traveling at 40 mph & was involved in aa front end collision with a truck. Frontal airbags didn't deploy. Manufacturer sent a airbag specialist to check the vehicle, but had not informed the consumer. Currently being repaired.

No deployment of air bags during frontal collision resulting in injuries to drivers neck and shoulder. Nlm.

My car is again at the dealer being serviced. This car has been in the shop for airbag service on 11 separate occasions. This issue has been going on since 10 months after I drove off the lot with the car. I am convinced Nissan has been given a reasonable opportunity to fix the problem. I now need results so I can drive a car that will work as desgined.

Was traveling 40mph & had a head-on collision. At the time of impact, neither one of the air bags deployed.

Travreling 45mph when another vehicle was making a turn in front, consumer's vehicle swerved to avoid hitting the other vehicle. Instead, hit vehicle on driver's side then on passenger's side. Upon impact, the air bags beployed but must have popped or fizzled out. Driver's head made contact with the front windshild and there was smoke inside of vehicle.

No deployment of both air bags during collision with abandoned vehicle.

While driving over a bump the airbags deployed. The driver sustained minor injuries. The manufacturer has been notified.

Consumer was driving approx. 5mph when another vehicle pulled out in front. Consumer hit brakes and the steering wheel pulled to the left, resulting in crashing into gaurdrail. Neither air bag deployed.

Had a direct frontal impact in which the driver's and passenger's air bags malfunctioned and did not deploy. Did not protect the occupant in this accident. Cause unknown. Please provide details.

Consumer states that when vehicle was involved in a rearend accident and there was no deployment of the air bags.

During vehicle front end collision there was no deployment of the air bags which resulted in injury to the consumer (attorney for consumer).
