1 Speed Sensor problem of the 2011 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 10/12/2018

On my way to work as I was driving down the highway my 2011 Nissan Maxima all of the sudden would no longer speed up. The vehicle was on and as I tried to accelerate while driving down the highway the speedometer went to 0 mph but the rpm would climb. I luckily was able to steer the car into an empty parking lot. My car had no check engine/service engine lights on. There were no warnings. I thought it was the speed sensor due to the original diagnostic code of p0500 and tried replacement but that did not solve the issue. My vehicle was towed to a Nissan dealership who said it was showing pages full of codes and they told me that my transmission needed to be completely replaced and that it just happens. prior to this total failure I experienced absolutely zero signs of transmission failure. There were no warning lights (check engine/service engine soon), no slipping/jerking, leaking, nothing at all. After researching the potential cause of transmission failure in my make/model/year vehicle I found there were many 2011 owners who were experiencing the same issue, total transmission failure without warning.

2 Speed Sensor problem of the 2007 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 06/13/2013

I was driving north on e I-94 at the posted speed when the call started to slow down and would not accelerate past 40 miles per hour. The sluggish speed continued off and on until I reached my destination. On my return trip home, the multitude of lights came on during the drive (tcs off, brake, abs, slip) and the car would periodically go between sluggish and regular speed. When I took it to the dealership, the car was diagnosed with have a bad abs actuator and one bad speed sensor, total cost of repairs about $2400. From what I've read, this is a recurring Nissan problem across models and should be recalled. It is unconscionable that we should be have to pay for a company mistake.

3 Speed Sensor problem of the 2006 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 05/03/2013

I was driving my car at 40 mph in light rain. As I approached a red light, I lightly got on the brakes. Immediately, the abs kicked in. The amount of braking force was well below the margin where abs should kick in. Thinking it was a onetime deal, I drove cautiously and tried braking again. This abs again kicked in immediately. The abs kicking in did lengthen the stopping distance as I was not applying the brakes hard enough to effectively slow down. On the next attempt, acceleration, traction control kicked in upon acceleration, causing the car to shake violently. My car was taken to the shop where the right rear wheel speed sensor had build up on it. Checking forums about my car, this was a common occurrence and seems to be a design flaw. Under different circumstances, a collision could have resulted due to the issue. Nissan has a service bulletin for this issue, but in my eyes, this issue is should be a investigated further as control of vehicle speed is compromised.

4 Speed Sensor problem of the 2007 Nissan Maxima

Failure Date: 02/24/2011

Abs/speed sensor/controller failure - driving home on the highway going 65 mph the car slowed to 25 & wouldn't go over. Could have caused an accident. Later found out rr sensor went out from tech. Replaced, still didn't work. Bought new abs controller (very expensive)! still not working. Then bought new rr hub. No dice. Went to buckeye Nissan, they wanted to charge me another $4000 to replace all the parts again and a few we didn't! bought hub for lr and solved problem. Well we thought. A month later, it is now doing it again. The car won't go over 25 but this time no lights. Getting grinding from brakes like it did when controller went out. Better not be going out again. Paid a lot of money to get this car fixed and now a few weeks later we are having the same problems. All were dealer parts new. Not cheap and then the dealership wanted to rip me off more to replace parts that were new. This was my third and final Nissan I will ever buy and will tell my church friends and family!! Nissan won't make it right, it is their problem. They should issue a recall, I am a member of several Nissan forums and this problem is huge. Nissan take care of your customers!!!.
