While driving on I-75 in atlanta about a month ago, my 2017 Nissan Maxima suddenly stopped accelerating. The engine was revving, but the car wouldn’t respond when I pressed the gas. It was unexpected and dangerous in fast-moving highway traffic. The same issue happened again on July 22, 2024, while I was driving on I-85. Both times, the car lost acceleration without warning in the moment. Before these incidents, I noticed occasional hesitation from a stop and delayed acceleration, but nothing as extreme as losing power at highway speeds. I took the car to a Nissan dealership, and they pulled a p17f1 code related to the cvt transmission. Nissan has acknowledged this issue by extending the warranty for transmission repairs in other models, but they told me my vehicle is not covered. This failure creates a serious safety risk and should not be ignored.

The power on the dashboard goes out and I have no way of knowing my speed, the milage, or any other information on how the vehicle is operating. The radio and other dashboard instruments are off the screens are black and I can't receive any information on how the vehicle is operating. Our safety is at risk since when this happens, we don't know if it would stop abruptly and cause an accident. We have not taken it to a dealer yet but are scheduling an appointment. No other parties have inspected the vehicle yet. The warning that came across the radio screen was this: check the map sd memory card please see the owner's manual in detail set: qy8100na application: 102 sno: 00010697 application: 107 e-code: nk-sd-11 this first happened in the later part of March on the 28th of this year. The dash does this off and on thing randomly and sometimes it runs fine. The owner's manual didn't help.

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped, the vehicle failed to accelerate while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The abs warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, alpine Nissan of denver (2400 w 104th Ave, denver, CO 80234) where it was diagnosed and determined that the alternator had stopped routing electricity after overheating. The contact was advised by the local dealer that the transmission needed to be replaced and related to failure to technical service bulletin: ntb17-039p (transmission judder); which was related to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,800.

Vehicle has acceleration issues. Started June 2022 and has continued frequently since. Will randomly stop accelerating then if I try to let off the gas pedal and apply again it shudders so hard it shakes the car. After trying 3-4 times it will accelerate again. The rpm will shoot down to 1 and straight back up to 1. 5-2. Maintenance shop has been unable to figure out what’s wrong but it seems many 2016 Maxima owners are having similar issues. Why has there not been a recall to fix this issue? it becomes a serious danger when driving on highways or at high speeds. Someone’s going to get hurt because if this!.
Hi I bought car Nissan Maxima 2011 transmission not working well when I driving I stopped at the traffic after that car does not move forward.

Since I got the car in 2018 the car does a jutter I went to a mechanic and they hooked it up to the computer and did a diagnostic and that's what it's called a judder the car keeps stuttering when it hits past 23 mph. As the years went on it has gotten worse and worse and Nissan will not cover it even though they're at fault for it I don't know what to do because certain mechanics are charging $3,500 and more.
For the past 5 months the acceleration will not work intermittently. I have almost gotten into two accidents on the interstate and in the city. I’ve taken the vehicle to the dealership twice and firestone auto care twice they cannot replicate the issue it is a hazard to drive with the car behaving this way.
I was driving and it all of a sudden shut off on me without warning causing safety issues because I was involved the middle of traffic.
2016 Nissan Maxima sr, problem started at 22000 miles, car runs fine, then when hitting a bump or railroad tracks, and sometime while accelerating at a light or from a stop the car goes into limp mode, max speed is apx 6 mph just enough to get it off road, at times it stalls in the intersection or when you come to a stop. Traction control light and engine light come on until you shut car down and restart. Engine light remains on solid but can be driven in most cases, at times it turns over then stalls, if you wait long enough it usually resets snd is drivable. Has several dtc codes when checked on of them is p1735 and a few others. It’s dangerous because you lose the ability to get properly through an intersection or to get by traffic on highway or side street, I have put my emergency lights on several times when this has happened. After reviewing TSB’s technical service bullatans it seems I am not alone with this issue.
My car has less than 113,500 miles and started losing power and coasting, the speed would fluctuate and something sounds loose in the engine. I took it to lithia Nissan in fresno CA on blackstone and they told me the cvt belt needs to be replaced thereby causing the car to need a whole new transmission at $5738. 96. The car was in motion.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated while driving and approaching a red light the vehicle stopped. The traffic light turned green and the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal three more times, the rpm revved up and the vehicle sped up. The failure recurred several times while attempting to drive to the residence. The contact called the local dealer sullivan auto trading (95 s gateway dr, fredericksburg, va 22406, (540) 654-5200) to schedule to have the vehicle towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,748.

On 1/31/2021 I was driving on the freeway when the car lost acceleration. I had to pull over on the left shoulder before I become a hazard. I turned the car off and the car started clicking as if I had a dead battery. The car started after sitting for 10 minutes. The car accelerated like normal but lost all acceleration after 2 miles. I called tow. This is the same problem I had a few months before and had to be towed. Aaa checked the alternator and battery and the charging system was showing normal. This is intermittent problem that comes and go but can not be diagnosed because of no active codes. This is a serious problem that can lead to an accident.
Twice on the highway if had issues where the car accelerated on its own and a few times it's seem to lose power and than compensate and completely launch leading to a quick jerking motion. I'm afraid that it could completely stop on the highway or accelerate into something. Other than that there's no issues but this is concerning since I'm always giving family member rides including a pregnant wife so it needs to be looked into in my opinion it could be a huge disaster if it happens to an inexperienced driver. *also I'm not sure of the exact date of when this happened. I just want to make that known since that's one of the questions asked.
Upon pushing the accelerator pedal, the car does not accelerate at all. I will push the accelerator all the way down to the floor and nothing will happen. I have to hit the pedal 2-4 times to get the car to accelerate. This occurs after being stopped at a stop light or intersection. The same has just happened with my wife's 2018 Nissan rogue. She was at an intersection. My car this has been happening on and off for 2 months. My wife's car, her first incident happened today. Mine happened 2x today. We both purchased are cars from the same Nissan dealership in clinton, nc.
Me and my boyfriend were sold this car for 2500 and the car needed a new battery, a new converter . Once I brought those items and put them in the car started having compression problems to the point it has a slow take off , cannot go up hills , and we have to shift gears just for it to move . . This car was sold to us like this and we almost fell off a cliff because of the compression problem and not being able to go up any hills . . The people who sold us the car said they will not fix the problem or refund our money .

When driving the car would loose power and not accelerate. Driving onto on ramp to highway and car would not accelerate and started to loose speed while merging. No lights came on dash or anything. Seems like the car went into limp mode or something.

This car has nothing but issues. I have had to replace the timing chains along with continuing to deal with the cars transmission and engine revving and trowing itself in and out of gear and dying the the middle of the road or highway. This car is dangerous and hundreds of people are having the exact same issues with Nissan refusing to address the issue or admit fault. Something needs to be done. Im sure people have been physically hurt from this issue and seems strong enough to be made into a class action suit.

Minimal acceleration sometimes. Vehicle acts as if slipping gears, or totally loses power. Acceleration issues happen from both stopped and highway driving conditions.
The 2005 Nissan Maxima has a terrible transmission. Problems shifting gears and when trying to accelerate it wont shift out of gears to go faster. Such as if I stop at a stop light or stop sign and then try to go again it accelerates very (5mph). Also when shifting into drive, it does this loud banging jerk that jerks the entire car. Was told transmission is slipping. There are thousands of other complaints for the nissian Maxima transmission and needs to be a recall on the transmission. Car is only 13 years old.
I have experienced problems cranking the car, I purchased a new battery and battery terminals. This appeared to quick fix it but soon after the speedometer stopped working and the check engine light came on. Soon after followed tcs control and abs light came on. I took it to a mechanic and the diagnosis involved a problem with the camshaft position sensors and crankshaft position sensors. I purchased a book about the car and read that my make and model had a recall. After double checking online about the recall I noticed it appeared to be the exact same problem. Convinced, I went to my local Nissan dealership to have them check however it was explained to me that my VIN number was not recalled. I want to have my VIN number placed on the NHTSA recall list so that I may have my vehicle repaired. If this is not possible please advise further. Thank you.

2000 Nissan Maxima se. While driving my vehicle on a highway or secondary road the vehicle starts to buck. Suddenly without any warning the (tcs) traction control and slip lights illuminate. This causes me to suddenly lose power and decelerate in hi speed traffic almost leading to rear end collisions. I have tried to rectify the problem by resetting the vehicle's computer by disconnecting the battery overnight and speaking to mechanics. I have not been able to resolve this issue. At times the tcs will activate ( sometimes stall ) while I am pulling into traffic or merging onto the highway ( rpm's go to 2000 maximum when this happens ) causing concern to myself or other motorist. The vehicle has 190k and I have owned it since 01/26/2018. The vehicle operated perfectly until 07/2018. Unfortunately I have been unemployed since 04/2018 and cannot afford to have the car put in a shop for repairs. I am capable of doing my own mechanical repair once I can diagnose the root cause. I have no choice but to drive the vehicle since I do not have another at my disposal. My main concern being safety to myself and others. Any help with this situation will be deeply appreciated. Thank you.

Tl-the contact owns a 2017 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate when prompted. The contact stated that the failure occurred on more than one occasion. Harsh shifting, jerking, lots shift slippage. Actually slowed down on the highway. Diagnosis returned as failed transmission assembly and cost $4,100 to repair.
At 101,000 miles transmission cut out. Gears not changing. Jerking movement when accelerating. In motion or stationary.
While driving my 2005 Nissan Maxima the gears slip and jump into gear with a violent jerk that is affecting my driving and may cause me to lose control of the car and possible injury myself or others. There is a transmission issue with the valve body that is causing this violent shifting and it seems that I am not the only one that has this issue. It is disgrace that the NHTSA had done nothing to address this wide spread issue, must people die first so it does get addressed. I will also contact my state representative to report the issue. I opened up a case with Nissan consumer affairs with no luck or admittance of their failed component. Nissan dealership diagnosed transmission with a p0726 code and had an open technical bulletin ntb11¿035 which is acknowledgement of Nissans failed design of the transmission valve body. Nissan has quoted me over $2500 to repair their failed design component.
Nissan asked me to pay a diagnostic fee of 190$ and then they say entire transmission to be replaced Nissan consumer affairs is not helpful as well worst company.
Driving down the interstate, merging into the exit lane, I pressed the brake pedal to slow down to the light, as soon as I tap the gas pedal the car jumps out of gear and revs to approximately 6,000 rpm. Car then violently kicks back into gear, more than likely damaging all motor mounts and transmission mounts. It does the same thing when driving around small bends and taking turns. It put my car into limp mode in the middle of the street. This has been occurring for roughly the past 6 months.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that while parking at low speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed lightly and the vehicle accelerated with extreme force. The contact crashed into the center driver's side of another vehicle causing that vehicle to crash into the front driver's side front door of another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.
