In the middle of driving to work, vehicle just shut off without warning. New battery and cam sensor replaced very recently. No service engine light on, nothing. . . It just shut off. After 2 tries it started right back up. Very scary!!!.

2 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2016

On 4/8/15, while about to make a left turn at a traffic light, my car stalled without any warning. Started up after two attempts. Service engine light came on and has remains on currently. Contacted Nissan specialist on a website who advised it could be crank position and/or camshaft sensor(s). I took it to firestone to have it scanned. Positive for codes p0725(engine speed signal circuit malfunction) and p0340(camshaft position sensor circuit failure). Purchased my vehicle in August 2003. Never notified by Nissan of recall for sensors(NHTSA #03v4550000). Called local dealership on 4/9/16 who advised me that my VIN number is not on the list for my vehicle to be repaired, despite having the same complication identified by Nissan and NHTSA which necessitated the recall. In addition, letter written by thetechnical compliance department of Nissan to the NHTSA, dated 12/4/03, clearly states that my car is included in the list of recalled vehicles. No updated letter or other public information found stating that certain VIN numbers are required to have car repaired. This is a gross safety issue and I am not clear as to why they are refusing to service my vehicle as per the recall. Please address. Thank you.

3 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2015

On 6/15/15, while on highway my car stalled without any warning. Started up after few attempts. Service engine light came on and remained on. I scanned for error code and I've got p0340 (crank position and/or camshaft sensor(s)). On 6/26/15 I took the car to hilton head Nissan dealer in hardeeville, SC - they scanned it positive for code p0340(camshaft position sensor circuit failure) and they replaced the two sensors. They never told me about Nissan recall for sensors (NHTSA #03v4550000). I found today about this recall and called Nissan dealer on 6/27/16 - they told me the car is to old to apply the recall, despite the fact that Nissan Murano 2003 is specified on the recall and despite having the same complication identified by Nissan and NHTSA which necessitated the recall. In addition, letter written by the technical compliance department of Nissan to the NHTSA, dated 12/4/03, clearly states that my car is included in the list of recalled vehicles. No updated letter or other public information found stating that certain VIN numbers are required to have car repaired. This is a gross safety issue and I am not clear as to why they refused to service my vehicle as per the recall and I had to pay for sensors replacement. Please address. Thank you.

4 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2014

I just purchased this vehicle on 7/15/14, drove it home and it would not start 7/16/14. I was able to get the vehicle started, but the service engine soon light came on and it shut off 2 more times while parked. I was finally able to get it started and running to go about my errands. I stopped to pick someone up from the hospital and it started up, but immediately shut off again. Eventually, it started bucking and shuddering while I was driving and seemed as if it was going to shut off. I was able to get it to the dealer I purchased it from and he is taking responsibility of getting it serviced. The diagnosis was the rear cam position sensor went bad. I called haldemann Nissan in hamilton, NJ to inquire about recalls, as I knew this was a recall issue and was told that my VIN number had no recalls.

5 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2011

While driving my wife to work my car stopped working and I pulled over to the side of the road. The service engine soon light came on and I was able to start the car again. The next day I was driving at about 50 miles and hour and the same thing happen twice. The car will nor start unless I give it some gas by stepping on the accelerator. I checked the failure codes and got p0340, bank 1 camshaft positioning sensor failure. Called my Nissan dealer in santa rosa calif. And was told my vehicle was not a part of recall 03v455000. This is wrong. This problem is well known and all 2003 Nissan Murano's should be included. My car has 103,000 mikes.

6 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2010

Murnao has been maintained wth all oil changes/schd mx done by the book. Couple of days ago I was sitting in line at a drive thru and the car abruptly died. There were no warning lights prior to the event. The service engine soon light came on then went back off after a restart. Then yesterday it died while slowing to a stop sign at aprox 15 mph. This time the service light stayed on after the restart. Again this morning it died, this time in traffic while traveling at aprox 50 mph. Parked the Murano and borrowed a friends car for the rest of the day. Did my homework online and noticed the recall for this engine stall. Got the engine codes from a local shop and suprise; camshaft position/crank position sensors. Of course when I called Nissan my VIN is not affected by the recall 03v455000. Contacted local Nissan dealer, est repair costs $600+. Nissan is not holding up its end of thier deal on this vehicle. Please take note, do not buy Nissan.
