My check engine light came on a few weeks ago saying cylinder five is miss firing. I replaced everything that I could and cylinders are still misfiring. It's causing my car to jerk and when I'm at a complete stop and start to go it takes my car a minute or so to start going. And also when I put my car into sports mode it does not shift.
Camshaft position a - timing over - advanced or system performance (banks 1 & 2). Third time in as many months; two repairs made, third time required. Check engine light comes on regularly.
The car will stutter at random even if filled with a full tank. Smell of burning and check engine light comes on. Car starts to violently shake. This is horrible as I drive with my toddler. I have been now reading this is common and I'm lucky I have not had an accent by my car stalling.
While driving my kids to school this morning, I lost all acceleration in the middle of a busy road unable to move, drive anything. I turned the car on and off to try to move the car from the middle of the road, I could only reverse. When in drive I its as if it were in neutral. The battery, brake light and check engine light all came on at once. They were not on prior to this happening. Clearly this is some sort of malfunction with in Nissan. I read multiple people having the same issues as me and I plan to make this known. If I had been on the highway when this happened with my kids in the car we would all be dead this is a serious issues and it needs to be addressed clearly there is some sort of and issues where Nissan has a recall or something.

Purchased car Feb. 11, 2014 as a certified pre-owned vehicle and purchased an extended warranty. On or about June 24, 2014 the check engine light come on, called dealer and made an appointment for June 25, 2014. Took car in and was told it was the gears in the transfer case were damaged and had sludge build up. Was told this was covered under Nissan's original drive train warranty (5 year/50k miles), or the certified pre-owned warranty (7 year/100k miles) or the (third-party) extended warranty (5 year/50k miles) which started on 2/11/14. The dealer needed Nissan's approval to proceed with the repair under the warranty. Two weeks (July 11, 2014) later I was told Nissan denied the claim because of sludge build-up in the engine. Which was news to me because I thought this was a transfer case issue - also on July 11, 2014, I was told the entire engine had to be replaced because it was not the transfer case but a bad seal on the timing cover which cause the engine oil not to circulate properly which caused the sludge build-up in the engine. Nissan blames previous owner’s neglect in their denial of my warranty claim. Extended warranty will not cover because the vehicle is still under the original power-train warranty.

During my drive while exiting off the highway. The vehicle jumped/sped up on its own as if I accelerated. Felt like a transmission slip. While approaching my exit, car just died out. I was able to steer off and put on my emergency hazard flashers. I tried to start the car, and it just cranked. I waited approx. Ten minutes and I was able to continue slowly until the car died out again. Experienced some hesitation along the drive home and with no warning, just a check engine light illuminating, the car died again.

Fuel gauge started to failed and check engine light turned on. I took the vehicle to the dealer and quoted for replace the two failing fuel sending units $100 to inspect + $700/$800 part & labor. Of course is not covered by Nissan. How many other brands beside Nissan have you seen with this problem? I am simply appalled by the lack of concern from Nissan. After reading complaints about air bag warning lights, drivers seat collapsing, visors falling blocking the view of the driver, check engine light coming on due to fuel gauge failure, wiper motor/transmission going out. My Nissan Murano has all these problems and more. I cannot believe Nissan does not identify this as a safety issues and allows the consumer to pay for these faulty components. The fact that Nissan does not stand up behind their products is an insult to everyone who bought this product. Nissan offers no assistance despite the clear premature failure of the components. We love teh car but it should hole together better than this. Theres are not items caused by high millage jut plain poor designs. Seats breaking - no way, visors falling down - no way, fuel gauge failure - no way, air bag warning light - no way, wiper motor/transmission - no way - please help us!!!!.

Nissan Murano 2003. 3 major problems. 1- sudden loss of power after driving and stopping (for example trying to make left turn of a traffic light. ) car does not response and move very slowly. (serious life threatening ) problem exist since has 65,000 fixed at 72000 miles and reoccurred after 5000 miles. (when car turned aff and on it will work fine for few minutes). When the car has around 62000 I took it to original dealer and for the loss of power problem and the service manager claimed that the car has no oil. But the sensor of the oil never showed low on oil 2- car stops all the sudden for no reason. Then when try to turn on again it works fine for few weeks then problem repeat again. 3- car jerks so bad few times at speed 35 - 45 miles an hour and then check engine shows. After few days jerks again and the engine light goes off. I beleive the first 2 problem are too dangerous and might be a life threatening .
The contact owns a 2003 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the check engine light came on. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic for a diagnostic test and the test showed that the crank positioning sensor malfunctioned. The mechanic informed the contact about a recall for the engine and engine cooling ( 03v455000). The contact called the manufacturer regarding the recall and was informed that VIN was not a part of the recall. The contact was concerned since the vehicle could shut off without warning during vehicle operation, which could result in a crash. The manufacturer should extend the recall to more VIN. The failure mileage was 68,000.
I have a 2003 Nissan Murano. About 1 week ago the check engine light came on. The car doesn't start right away and also stalls during operation. I took the car to the Nissan dealer and was told the camshaft position sensor has to be replaced.
2005 Nissan Murano taken in to Nissan of gastonia on 4/27/10 to have the air intake recall corrected. Mileage is about 52,000 miles. On 4/29/10, my check engine light came on and immediately had trouble with delayed starting. Code p0345 camshaft position sensor a bank 2 circuit malfunction. Called dealership and made appointment for their next available date 5/4/10 and took it in to be looked at. Service manager felt quite certain that they had left something unplugged. He came back to me 1 hour later to advise that I needed a new camshaft position sensor. It cost me $247 to replace the sensor. Too many issues with this sensor on line on Nissan recalls for this not to be a safety concern on the 05 Muranos' too.
Cam position sensor (via check engine light).
I own a 2003 Nissan Murano, my check engine light has come on several times. Each time I brought to the Nissan dealership and they could not figure out what's was wrong. On Saturday sept 26, 2009 at 4:00 pm I was driving my Nissan Murano and without warning or anything the car shut off while in motion on the freeway, everything stopped working including the breaks. This is the 2nd time this car has shut off while in motion. I checked for recalls appears some 2003 Nissan Murano's were recalled by NHTSA, but when I went to Nissan they said my car was not part of the recall? I believe it should be because I've experienced exactly what the recall ( 03v455000) is indicating. I don't believe Nissan recalled all the cars they should have with this problem, obviously since I am having this problem. Nissan need to recall my 2003 Nissan and all others its failed to include either by error or on purpose? I tried to work with Nissan north America no help at all. I need someone to review this case and hopefully save lives by having Nissan do a complete recall on the cars that should have been included in the recall.
I have a Nissan Murano 2003, the check engine light has come on several times, and the car stalls when I press on gas it takes about 5 seconds or so to accelerate which almost caused an accident, one time earlier the car stalled stopped while driving on the highway and could have caused perhaps a deadly accident. I have been to Nissan dealer several times more then 4 with the same issue engine light and the issues. The latest time I went to Nissan they said it could be the transmission perhaps, this is a faulty car and something needs to be done.
I own 2003 Nissan Murano with around 111000 miles on it. At the beginning of July 2009 my car all of sudden lost all power when I was driving at around 40 mph, the engine seized, the check engine light came on. Luckily I was able to stop the car without any crash. I took the car to pep boys auto repair chain. I was told the failure happened due to a faulty crank position sensor. I had the repair made and the car is running fine now. When I was looking at your database I realized that there was a recall on 2003 Nissan Murano for the exact same problem that happened to me. The NHTSA campaign number for that recall was 03v455000. I contacted Nissan and was told my car did not fall under the recall as it was manufactured in a different plant than recalled vehicles. Any way I want to report this issue as I consider this a serious safety issue. After the engine seized driving at 40 mph I am glad I did not lose control of the car (there was no other vehicles around which helped) this is the information from recall 03v455000, this is exactly what happened to my car: this could cause the "service engine soon" warning light to come on, create a no start condition, cause reduced engine power, or cause the engine to stop running without warning during vehicle operation, which could result in a crash.
The contact owns a 2003 Nissan Murano. While driving the vehicle would stall, and the lights would fail without warning. After the vehicle stalls the check engine warning light illuminates on the instrument control panel. A representative from the manufacturer stated that her vehicle identification number was excluded from recall number 03v45500 ( engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 55,000.
After driving the car for about 30 min or so every time I step on the accelerator pedal the car is delayed in moving. In addition every time I drive the car I lose power. The check engine light comes on and the car slows to a crawl and stops. I will then have to coast the car off to the side of the road. Wait a few min and then restart. This is very scary every time I try to make left hand turns. Other times I am driving it just will not move for a long 5 to 8 sec delay. Cars coming at me in at any speed have almost hit me. There were no warnings prior the stalling. This happens every single time I drive the car. I read there was a NHTSA recall# 03v455000. The throttle body 3 times, transmission 2 times. Motor mounts and a host of other parts. Let's see OH yeah the tcm twice. Valve body replaced. Miles at 105,000. I have spent over $900. 00 plus. The dealership I bought it from won't take it back. At this point I just want out of this car. Could anyone help me?.
On September 12, 2007, I took my car to keras Nissan located at 2080 covington pike in memphis, tennessee, because the shock absorbers were failing in the front of the truck and again the check engine soon light came on. I decided to take my truck to a different dealership because I no longer trusted the workmanship of dobbs Nissan, where I made the initial purchase. I dealt with travis, a service advisor that advised me they would find the problems. After my vehicle was serviced, I was informed that the motor was non-repairable. Travis stated that it looked as if I never serviced the engine with oil. I explained that I have regularly scheduled maintenance on this vehicle. He stated that I would need to gather all of my oil change receipts to present to Nissan warranty to prove regular maintenance have been performed to replace the engine. Oil changes and dates of receipts provided: dobbs Nissan: April 29, 2006 September 26, 2006 June 13, 2007 danny?s car care: March 9, 2007 March 28, 2007 August 18, 2007 goodyear: June 23, 2006 January 3, 2007 firestone: November 02, 2006 receipts the morning of September 15, 2007. He contacted me around 11:15 am to inform me that the engine replacement was denied, due to, ?lack of maintenance?. I asked travis to explain to me in detail the reason for the denial, and his reply was simply, "lack of maintenance?. Nothing has been done to correct the failure on a warranted engine.
I purchase this vehicle on sept 9, 2005 with 28,158 miles from checkered flag auto dealer for my wife. I started having issues in June 2006 around 38k miles. My wife was stop at a red light on interstate 264 exit ramp on her way home from work. According to my wife, the red light turned green and the Murano hesitate on acceleration then started accelerating slowly. After about 3 feet from the light the Murano started jerking, rpm was raving high but the car wasn't moving then promptly speed up and shutoff in the middle of traffic, she tried restarting the vehicle but it would not turn over and the check engine light came on. The Murano was towed home and the following day I brought it to the Nissan dealership for repair. After about an hour the tech said my rubber intake vibrated off and charged me to put it back on. (now theres a recall for that, I wonder if it's too late to get a refund. Nhtsa campaign number: 09v169000) a bad position camshaft sensor was the cause for the check engine light. I did not have the money to replace the camshaft position sensor at the time but when I did, replacing the sensors did not fix the check engine light. The Murano is still having the same problem after 6 years. I still owe $11k and I can't wait to get rid of this nightmare. This was the worst financial decision I ever made for my family. It kills (it might really kill me in traffic) me to know my wife and daughters do not have a dependable means of getting to daycare and work while I am deployed protection my country. I contacted Nissan many time and in a nutshell I was told too bad, I should call back when I want to purchase a new vehicle.
The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the vehicle lost power. It was muscled home from the scene of the incident and towed to the dealer. The dealer determined the cause of the vehicle's lost of power was due to internal failure of the throttle chamber assembly. To repair the vehicle the thottle chamber assembly was replaced. Right before the incident, the vehicle's check engine light illuminated.
