I was driving and randomly lost power. No powersteering, no acceleration, no brakes, all of the lights on the dash turned on like the engine shut off, and the key was turned back to electrical (while in the middle of driving, I'm 100% sure the car turned off without the ignition key switching to off). This has happened about 5 times now. The code p0345 activated shortly after the second time it happened. It has happened when decelerating/braking, accelerating, and coasting, low and high speeds. I know there are other reports of this with Muranos on the internet and apparently happens to a few other Nissans. This started in early June, when the temperatures are above mid 80's.

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Nissan Murano. While driving various speeds, the vehicle rapidly jerked while switching gears. Also, while driving various speeds, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact stated that the temperature gauge ran hot prior to experiencing the failure. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 09v169000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Takara recall : while the car is in motion the engine will shut off at random. When the engine shuts off the car is pulled along the side of the road, and will start again. This has happened on multiple, almost causing serious crashes.

I had to replace my altenator 3 times. I bought the car 2 years ago at 90,000 miles. When it first went out, I bought one from autozone, then 4 months later is went out. I had a warranty thru autozone on the parts so the part was replaced but I had to cover the labor cost. 2 months later the altenator replace it again but I wanted labor cost covererd this time. They agreed to cover the part and labor. There must be an electrical problem with these cars. I ve read other owners of the same car having the same issue. If Nissan doesn't fix this for free, I will never buy another of their cars because I can't believe multiple times. I had two different mechanic so it not the person, it's the car, I believe so. The other problem I've had it that the air duck intake hose keeps disconnecting, it will cause my car to miss file and run very ruff, like poor performance. It can make the car shut off while driving or at a stop sign.

I was driving in the fast lane on the freeway, and for no apparent reason, the car shut down, then immediately started up again. I was fearful that I was going to get hit from behind, so immediately went to the slow lane. I drove the car to and from my destination with no further incident, but fear it might happen again.

I was traveling down the interstate, going about 70 mph. My vehicle didn't want to run properly. I was unaware of the issue, I thought it would straighten up after a few minutes. Well, my car just shut down. I was lucky I made it to the shoulder of the highway before an accident happened. I had it towed to the shop in the town I reside in. He diagnosed it, and said Nissan Muranos were known for this to happen. He put it back together, as it had separated. I did some personal research on the problem, and saw there was a recall campaign for the generation 1 Muranos (2003-2007), I then did a VIN # check, and there was no known recalls for my VIN. I also saw during research, that there were thousands of vehicles recalled for this issue. I reached out to Nissan consumer affairs, they made me aware there was nothing that could be done due to the age and mileage of the vehicle. I then made them aware this was a big safety hazard for myself, and other motorists. They then transferred the case to a regional case specialist. The regional specialist, again, told me there was nothing they could do. I then, explained the importance of this problem. The regional specialist then transferred me to a supervisor. The supervisor then called me back, and told me yet again, there was nothing that could be done. This is just unbelievable to me that just because, by policy, they won't cover repairs that could lead to the extent of taking someones life. I have told them everything I included in this report. Please advise.

I was driving my wife and daughter yesterday, when all of a sudden the car shuts off. The car behind me almost ran into the back of my car. Another time on the highway, the car shuts off and I almost had a accident. I am scared that this can happen again and I will be putting my life and my family's life in danger.

Several times while driving on city streets the car would shut down completely, with no warning had to get towed. While in drive-through car shut down but a delay then restarted. Bought new battery, alternator and got a tune-up. Currently the car will not go in backwards.

I've only been driving my 2007 Nissan Murano car that I recently purchased used for 3 weeks. I was driving on the road and suddenly my car started jerking, shaking, smoking from under the hood then it abruptly stopped in the middle of traffic on a busy road. The car shut down and would not start again. I called the police, they blocked the lane I was in and called a local tow truck service that I had to pay for out of pocket because it was an emergency dangerous situation to get it off the road as soon as possible and the police could not chance to wait for my insurance company to send a tow service.

Transmission , transfer case, it wouldn't shift gears. It didn't go over 40 30 mph I accelerated and won't do more then 30, 40 mph and the vehicle shut down on me.

The date on this form could have been the first date not really sure, the most recent was one of the frightening times the vehicle stopped right in the middle of the street about (4) four times. This was traumatizing we could have been hit by several vehicles. The vehicle started jerking then all of a sudden stopped right in the middle of the street. One time reported to NHTSA, we were in the vehicle driving along and all of a sudden without a warning the vehicle stopped. No jerking , no warning light, nothing. The vehicle shut off we were in danger and my grand daughter was in the vehicle with us she was very scared this was traumatizing for us all. If this is not all already this should be on the recall list. If this is not something that can be repaired, or replaced. At the cost and expense of the maker or NHTSA I feel my vehicle should be replaced.

Wife and I traveling from north georgia mountains on a state hwy, approx 55 mph. The engine suddenly lost the ability to acellerate and felt as if the car violently downshifted (automatic transmission). There was no forewarning, no 'warning lights' illuminated before, during, or after the event. Fortunately for us, I was able to get the car off the road. The car did not lose electrical power, nor did the engine shut off. The shifter did not accidently get moved, as the car was still in drive. After we sat on side of the road for several minutes regaining our wits, I depressed the accellerator, to move back onto the highway. The engine would not respond to the gas pedal. It just ideled. Again, I pumped the gas pedal and there was no change to engine idle. I turned the ignition switch off, and back on, and the problem cleared. This is the "third such occurance" in two weeks time. We took the car to a local Nissan dealership in lilburn, georgia (hwy 78) and explained the problem in detail. The service advisor did not comment if they had ever heard of a similiar issue with this vehicle. On the 8th of April, we went back to the dealership to find out what the prognosis was for this vehicle. Nissan did not have an explanation. Their computer readout did not indicate a problem related to our complaint. In otherwords, they had no idea, after charging us $125. 00 for a computer diagnostic. We're back to taking it to a local mechanic to see if they can discover the problem.

I was driving my vehicle and the engine stalled. Once it happened when I was driving at about 25mph and the vehicle just shut off and twice when I was at a red light while the vehicle was ideling. Also I was driving in the hwy last week and the engine lst power for about 3 second, putting at a great risk for a crash. The other problem I am having is the passenger door actuator that stopped working so when I lock my car that won't lock putting my vehicle at a risk for being stolen. I called Nissan corp because I knew that was a recall id # 78963 - engine and engine Nissan is recalling 362,891 my 2003-2007 Murano vehicles. The intake air ducts, which are connected to the intermediate resonator in the air intake system of the engine, may separate from the resonator with engine movement. This separation occurs due to the premature aging of the material used in the intake air ducts which causes excessive shrinking, and because of that engine may stall increasing the risk of a crash. However the representative said that there is nothing to worry about and my vehicle was not included in the recall even though it is the same model and year of the vehicle recalled.

My truck would not turn over one morning, once I finally was able to get it cranked it went about a mile down the street ang just shut off. No warning, just shut off.

Driving and engine shutoff!!!!!!! could not brake or accelerate !!!! was terrified as I was in middle of intersection making a left with two children in the back! tuned key to off and restarted . Nissan says there is a recall for this issue but my VIN does not fall under it please help.

First incident: while turning into a parking lot car shut off all warning lights on dash lit up. Since no power to car I was not able to turn or use my brakes effectively. I was stopped in the oncoming traffic lane. I was able to use my four way lights. Car had to be towed as we were unable to restart the car. Second incident: while driving on a city street at 35 miles an hour once again car turned off and I was unable to use gas or brakes related to no power. I barely was able to get about halfway into the turn lane to get out of traffic. Almost causing an accident. This te I was able to wait a few minutes and after a few unsuccessful attempts to start my car it finally began running again.

My Murano was attempting to stall out several times while I was driving, especially after taking off. . . . When it happened the last time, before I got the repairs, it just shut down while I was getting onto a busy highway. Thank god I was able to quickly pull to the soft shoulder before someone crashed into me.

I was driving at about 25-30 mph and the engine just shut down. . No warnings no lights just stopped in drive. . I then tried to start it putting it in park and could not tried about 25 min. I finally got it started by putting my foot on the brake and pushing the start button and then quickly hitting the gas, once getting it started I pulled it over off the road and let it idle. I was able to get it home with out anymore problems. . I then took it too my Nissan dealer and they could not find anything wrong computer did not read any errors. . I only have 25000 miles on the car and is less then 3 years old and always serviced.

The contact owns a 2003 Nissan Murano. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut down without warning. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the road. He waited 30 minutes and was able to restart the vehicle. He drove to the dealer and they stated that the battery was the cause of the failure. Previously, the dealer replaced the cvt valve due to the stalling failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 100,000.

The dealer inspected the vehicle five times and stated that the failure was caused by the sensor, throttle intake hose, motor mounts, and the air filter. The components were replaced, however, the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 6,378 and current mileage was 22,000.
