While trying to make a turn in a busy intersection, the car stall and loses power it goes into a limp mode. The car slowly limps out of traffic to the side. Note vdc off and 2 red - neg sign brake light is on. Turn the ignition off for a few minutes. Turn ignition back on and no problem. The car starts up no problem. I had the brakes check out and no issues. I took to Nissan dealership . They said it is the alternator. I had new alternator put in 6 months ago. Took back to the company who put the alternator on he said it is working. They said this car notorious for the cvt transmission issues. This problem has happen twice in traffic. This is not safe. . . . I am afraid to drive this car.

At 5 years 9 months, the transmission totally failed. The car would “buck “ and hesitate going from 1st to. 2nd.
It has happened twice since we purchased our Murano 8 months ago. When pulling onto a divided highway you have to slow down then you accelerate to get into the lane. . . . The transmission hesitates around 2 or 3 seconds then grabs the gear and you take off. This is very worrysome for us, both being retired and it could cause an accident.

I took my vehicle to jack ingram Nissan on 1/26/2023 because the car started, jerking, stalling, shuddering, hesitating, and premature transmission failure. They told me at jack ingram Nissan that my cvt transmission was bad. I just had the cvt transmission flushed in may 2022 and nothing was wrong wit my transmission then. My vehicle only has 90,200 miles on it so nothing should be wrong with the transmission. It has been reported that several complaints about the cvt transmission in Nissan Muranos and several other Nissan models go bad when the car does not have 100,000+ miles on them. Nissan dealers ships refuses to take the necessary steps and make the necessary repairs for this ongoing problem with there cvt transmissions.

Nissan's cvt transmission dies on highway at odo=72k miles, a well known issue similar to other Nissan's models. I had to replaced the cvt transmission at $6k. Nissan should at least gives clear instruction that cvt transmission oil to be replaced at 30k mile in the owner manual. At least two Nissan's models had recalls due to the same cvt transmission failure. Why not include other models with the same issues to protect the consumers?.
The vehicle lurches while driving slowly in low gears. While accelerating from low speed, there is a sudden loss of propulsion causing a safety risk. Merging into traffic when the vehicle loses power is an example.

Rear differential broke and was replaced along with the cv axle shaft. Broken part is at repair shop. Unknown if it is still available for inspection. Problem occurred suddenly while driving on the interstate. The high speeds could have caused an accident. Problem was confirmed by an independent service center woody's auto repair service ankeny IA. Vehicle and component have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representative or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or prior symptoms of the problem prior to failure. First appeared in Dec 2022. Car was at repair shop ~21/2 weeks while being assessed, locating parts, and being fixed.
2011 Nissan Murano, transmission issues. This is the second time I have had to report this problem, please also refer to my first complaint #11474221 on this vehicle for the same problem. When at a stop, and pushing the gas pedal to move forward, there is a hesitation or two before the vehicle moves forward. This is a big problem when trying to enter a highway, after a stop sign. With giving enough distance to merge, having the hesitation issue has almost caused an accident. This hesitation occurs in town driving and hi-way. The dealership crown Nissan (greensboro, nc) diagnosis indicated that the transmission was failing and needed to be replaced. Our local Nissan shop ordered a new transmission directly from Nissan, and installed into our car, by mechanics that were trained by Nissan. Received Murano back with replaced new transmission, and within two days it was hesitating again. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and it was confirmed that the ‘new’ transmission that was installed, was defective and when driving, also had the hesitation issue. A 2nd new transmission was ordered from Nissan, installed by Nissan trained mechanics, and delivered two weeks later. We received our Murano back on oct. 12, 2022 and when driving it there was a slight hesitation, but then started to buck very hard… I’m surprised that I don’t have whiplash. The 2nd new transmission installed is a ‘lemon’ as it is worse than the original and the 1st new replacement, by bucking as well as the hesitation. Our Nissan Murano appears to be unfixable, as the company keeps sending transmissions that have serious flaws and will eventually hurt or kill someone. Where do we go from here, especially since we have paid off the loan a year ago.

My 2009 Nissan Murano had a bad battery and starter, after replaced them the abs/vdc/slip control light were illuminated and abs function lost. I searched online and found a lot of the Murano owners had the same issue by just replacing a battery then got these dtcs. At the end we found Nissan know this issue and issue a TSB for repair with customer's expense. They know this is factory issue but not recall it or even not notify their customer, it's safety issue and still need the customer to search it and repair with the customer's money (to pay their faults). TSB: ntb10-113a.
My 2010 Nissan Murano incurred transmission and transfer case failure @ around approximately 95,000 miles despite keeping up with the required maintenance. This was in a form of erratic jerking, overheating, and decreased pick up speeds. However, the vehicle did not have any service lights indicating further issues on the dash. I then went to 2 Nissan service centers to request that Nissan fix their faulty parts on 11/11/22 and 12/02/22. Both service centers acknowledge faulty parts by Nissan, but refused stating that my car is not under warranty and therefore, Nissan would not cover the cost. Nissan has had multiple class action law suits regarding their production of these parts and yet is evading responsibility. Since then, my car has sat in my driveway undriveable as Nissan continues to avoid rectifying the situation. I now owe the bank almost $3,000 for a car I can no longer drive and bank will not settle out the debt to the worth of the car. I now have to consider a voluntary repo which will ultimately negatively affect my credit and force me into a hardship. I cannot utilize this vehicle to go back and forth to work.
The transmission started going out going around a corner passing a semi on a canyon road. There are thousands of reports of transmission issues with this year and model. Brakes shake and act like they will not engage.
When stepping on the gas after stopping at a stop light or similar situation, the car acts like it's stalling for 2 - 3 seconds before finally going forward. It's intermittent. I've been told by the Nissan dealership that when they did the diagnostic check, that the error code p0868 came up long enough to be caught for the report but did not stop at that error code. This error code says it's "fluid pressure low". My Nissan advisor said that it is not a hard failure because it did not stop at this error. However, they do recommend that the transmission be replaced. I have been reading a lot online about other Murano owners having this similar issue or an issue with their transmission. I had it at the dealership twice before this last result I mentioned above.
I bought the car used from a used dealership on February 28. On may 12th, I brought it to the shop for a few things but mainly due to the battery being corroded along with a battery light that comes and goes, but also for there being a slight skip in the transmission. The car would buckle when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The shop called me back on may 23rd and said the car was ready and they found nothing wrong with the transmission. They claimed they found no codes or could not recreate the issue. I brought the car back a week or two later due to the battery light still flashing randomly. While taking the car for a test drive with the mechanic, it buckled pretty hard and I told the mechanic that’s what I had been talking about and he just brushed it off. On July 23, while driving home, my car bucked really hard 5 times and then stopped accelerating past 20 miles per hour. On August 11th, I tried taking it for a test drive and it drove completely fine, like nothing had ever happened. While heading back to my house, I lost all gears and the car stopped accelerating while I was going up a hill. My rpm’s went way up but my car started to roll backwards down the hill. My grandmother happened to be behind me and she ended up pushing into my bumper and pushing me up the hill due to there being no pull of section and the speed limit being 50 mph. There were no lights on my dash indicating there was a problem. If my grandmother wasn’t there, it could have been much worse. I talked to someone at a local Nissan dealership and he claimed that my transmission is going and that even though my car is doing the same thing as a lot of the recalls and cars they offered extended warranties on, that mine didn’t qualify for one.
2013 Nissan Murano (81,000 miles): engine warning light came on, code check revealed "mass airflow senser" while waiting for dealer appointment car was running fine with no issues other than warning light. I was driving the car at 40 mph and the car came to a complete stop "as if engine was turned off". There was no warning. No breaks, no steering. Car was almost in ditch but I managed to force steering back onto road (I was the only one at risk). Car restarted as though no problem had occurred. Research revealed same issue with other model years.

The rear subframe is extremely rusted and breaking into pieces in multiple areas. The vehicle shakes upon acceleration and slowing down. Due to being lower income I cannot afford to fix the subframe (estimated to cost $400 for the the frame not including labor). Also the vacuum lines dry rotted and fell apart.

The transfer case need to be replaced. I took my vehicle to the dealer a few months ago and they told me I had a leak but didn't know where it was coming from. I took it back to the dealer yesterday 12/16/22 and they told me where the leak is coming from. The cvt fluid is leaking from the lh axle seal. Murano owners have been complaining about this same issue. The dealership is charging me $712. 59 for an issue that I didn't cause. The dealership need to fix this for free because this issued happened during the making of the vehicle and shouldn't fall on the buyer.
Cvt awd transmission failure. Rpms not increasing and vehicle stalled out in middle of highway, vehicle will not drive now.
During driving transmission suddenly stopped working on the freeway with no warning and was only able to limp on the busy freeway.
Transmission code p171f1 cvt judder (c/v inspection) at 93,000 miles. Took it to the dealership due to rough idling when stopped at stoplights. Nissan is recommending a full transmission replacement at a cost of over 6k. This code does not cause the check engine light to come on and unknowlingly could leave someone stranded in the middle of traffic. This car has never missed a scheduled service and has been meticulously cared for over the years and should not have this type of problem at this mileage.
The cvt translation is slipping and jerking at 1000 rpms. I took it Nissan and even though they increased the warranty on their cvt transmission, this one they do not want to cover, and don’t say why.
Had to break hard to avoid debris in the road. The car then started “shuttering”. When I tried to accelerate, car would barely go. The engine was running fine after this but when I placed it in gear, car wouldn’t go and rolled backwards while in oncoming traffic. Engine light did come on. Car was towed to a transmission repair shop.
For over a year, I have experienced hesitations of movement when needed to have acceleration from a complete or rolling stop. When driving, I’ve pushed on the gas pedal to accelerate & there was a long two second hesitation (lack of propulsion) before the Murano resumed forward movement. There was also a loss of acceleration (speed/movement) while merging into very heavy traffic on a busy main road, & that could have caused an accident. Every time there was a hesitation of movement when pushing on the gas pedal, it could have been a disaster. I have been having this ‘hesitations of movement’ for over a year. I have insisted that mechanics need to drive it, so they too can experience this problem. They have driven the Murano many times, but haven’t been able to experienced it. After bringing the Murano into my service station for months about this problem, today after an oil change at oakview auto service, the head mechanic took my Nissan Murano for a test drive & the ‘hesitation’ happened to him. So if needed chris at oakview auto can confirm that this problem has been happening, that we have asked about diagnosing this problem, & he experienced as well. This service station has been in business for over 40 years, and they have had many other customers bring their Nissan Murano to them, with the complaint of ‘hesitation of movement. While there has been problems documented (& recalled) with Nissan’s transmissions in the past, they have yet to include the 2011 Murano. Nissan needs to address this hesitation issue now.
Light smoke coming from the exhaust became more over a couple days. Had to replace head gaskets. !!!$$$$ and sensors. Its a 2015 with 65k miles. I've noticed this is a problem with Nissan SUV's lately which is sad. A friend of mine has a 2019 pathfinder and the same thing is happening to hers! I know things happen but this was a huge repair! and who has money for that.
When stopped at stop lights or even a stop sign & it's my time to go my vehicle will "creep" at a snail's pace regardless of my position on the gas petal, then all of a sudden jerk & take off fast. On 2 occasions my vehicle would not even go when the turn light went to green & I quickly shifted to "l" where it did take off & the rooms jumped to 5000 & after getting out of heavy traffic I put it back in drive. This issue occurs randomly & I've had a verbal conversation with a mechanic in my family that says, my 2009 Murano has a cvt transmission, they are very costly to replace. I only have 159,000 miles on my Murano & I drive my autistic grandson to school & home only. I'm only bringing this to your attention to fund out if I'm the only person that has had issues with the cvt transmission bc a $4-$5000 new transmission is impossible for us. This has been happening off & on for about 6 months.
The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Murano. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission was slipping in and out of gear. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local pep boys where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter had failed, the camshaft position sensor, and the power train system also had failed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 171,000.
Cvt transmission would struggle at low speeds, it would feel like it was jumping or getting caught on something. No check engine light or other error codes would display. Dealership insisted nothing was wrong. After 3rd check in 6 years, they finally got an error code and determined we needed a replacement.
Transfer case I cracked resulting in a sudden stop as I was driving on the road.
This is the second transmission I have put in this. . These cvt's are complete garbage and Nissan is aware of it. Stand behind your product for once and replace this transmission on your dime. Will drive perfect sometimes and then randomly 3k-5k rpms and wont shift. Sometimes I can shut it off and restart it and it will work fine again. Sometimes it wont and I have to drive around with excessively high rpms. Also what is this annoying air suction noise I hear under throttle, sounds like an intake or blow off valve. There are zero vaccum leaks,.

Here is my experience: I purchased a 2015 Nissan Murano new in July 2015. My cvt transmission failed and was replaced under warranty by Nissan in June 2019 at 52,000 miles. Today 11-29-21, at 62,100 miles, my transmission failed again due to the transmission oil/cooler/radiator assembly failing to cause the cooling fluid and the transmission fluid to mix, resulting in having to replace the transmission, radiator, and associated assemblies for $6,600!.
Cvt transmission suddenly began sputtering on acceleration from a stop, which put me at risk of causing a collision, since it was not reliable to pull out into traffic. The dealership confirmed that the cvt transmission needed replaced (which it was at my expense). The problem first appeared in 11/2021 (got it fixed in 12/21) and no warning lights came on.
While parallel parking, we backed into the space and when we put the car into drive, it lurched forward at an incredible speed. We hit and pushed the car parked in front of us, hopped up onto the sidewalk, knocked down a street light, and moved a huge concrete planter. The airbags over the windshield and under the dashboard deployed. The bags under the dash exploded with such force that they injured my husband's legs, and he has been seeing a wound doctor for the past five weeks. The car was towed to a repair shop. I reported the incident to Nissan na; they sent a representative to retrieve information from the edr. Nissan has advised that no mechanical problems were recorded but we are absolutely certain the car malfunctioned. We think it might have been a problem with the cvt.
Cvt transmission failed with no warning during traffic on a bridge in new york 150 miles away. I was almost hit. Car would not go. Car had to be brought back by trailer. Cvt transmission had to be replaced. The cvt transmissions are a known problem and Nissan is doing nothing to fix it.
