Transmission failure started when the car would experience a loss in power in heavy traffic then will suddenly lunge forward. We lost the transmission last week, the Murano couldn't even make it up to the driveway. We need to turn off the engine then turn it back on again in order to have the transmission working. The car is currently at the dealers waiting for a new transmission estimated at $4800. ~lb.

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that the fuel sending unit failed on December 7, 2007. On December 22, 2007, while driving approximately 20 mph in cold weather, the vehicle stalled in traffic. Prior to the failure, the vehicle jerked. The vehicle restarted, but then stalled again. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, but it would not accelerate above 20 mph. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the transmission failed. On January 9, 2008, while driving approximately 70 mph in dry conditions, the vehicle would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. As a result, the vehicle jerked forward and threw the contact into the steering wheel. The contact bruised her chest. The interior lights dimmed and the radio shut off temporarily. The vehicle continually lost power and would only shift into low gears. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they replaced the fuel pump on January 11, 2008. A few days later, the check engine light illuminated and she smelled a strange odor. The fuel gauge went from three quarters of a tank to a full tank. The speedometer began to display inaccurate readings and the vehicle began to lose power. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer on January 20, 2008 and they stated that the fuel sending unit failed again. The current mileage was 6,900 and failure mileage was 5,200.

Transmission stalls at intersections, barely moves car almost hit in intersection. 63,000 mile transmission has failed.
Nissan Murano transmission failure after 92,000.
2004 Nissan Murano sl 2wd model just came to a stop while driving, restarted the engine then put the car in drive and engine stalls out, tried this over & over again but it continues to stall. I immediately had the car towed to the dealer and three days later they informed me that the automatic transmission failed (only 25003 miles). The automatic transmission was replaced but no one at Nissan ever told me what caused the failure or gave me any confidence that this problem will not occur again soon. This was my wife's car and just stopping without any warning on a busy freeway could have resulted in someone running into her being unaware that her car has broken down. Unfortunately Nissan doesn't make these cvt transmission so their mechanics I'm told do only removal & replacement (jatco makes the Murano transmission).

With no warning on a crowded interstate the vehicle lost all power to the drivetrain. Vehicle would rev in park but would do nothing in drive or reverse. Very busy interestate and almost hit in rear as car could not moe out of traffic. Dealer says cvt transmission failed. Dealer can not tell me what was wrong with the cvt and just says it needs replaced.
In February 2005 the alternator failed to charge the battery and the car slowed to a complete stop and the battery died in the middle of a busy intersection. I had to tow the car to the nearest dealership and the car was repaired 48 hours later. In March 2005 the gas tank lid wouldn't open and the car was running out of gas. I drove the car to the dealership and it took 48 hours to repair. However, the "repair" was done by prying the lid open and I still have not recieved the new part. In may 2005 the transmission failed in the middle of a busy intersection and I had to tow the car to the dealership. They still have the car and expect to have it for two weeks at least. They cannot guarentee that they will pay for the rental car costs which will amount to at least $350 at $25 a day. This car only has 35,000 miles on it.
2003 Nissan Murano transmission failure with less than 24,000 miles. Transmission failed, wheels locked, unable to move or push the vehicle. Thankfully, it happened approaching a red light, no accident involved.
