1 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2012 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/15/2019

At 105,000 miles, transmission would not remain engaged in overdrive at greater than 60mph resulting in high rpm over 3200. Dealer inspected and stated past dtc code of p1778 (step motor issue/cvt slipping). Dealer reflash car computer but said if that didn't fix it the car would need a new transmission. Seems odd it's the same problem that was happening with 2003-2010 transmissions because I was told that issue was resolved in later models.

2 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/06/2015

This complaint relates to a closed recall for the 2005 Nissan Murano NHTSA campaign id number: 05v3190. Two months with the vehicle and I had transmission problems, where the vehicle lost power and drive-ability, bringing my passengers and myself to a harms way. I contracted aamco to replace the transmission, one month later, Nissan USA had to provide another transmission to replace the one changed one month before. Last Monday, July 06, 2015, while driving on the new jersey garden state parkway, the vehicle presented serious trouble, when the emergency brake, awd and abs warning lights came on, as the vehicle lost speed, transmission disengaged, putting my wife, myself and other vehicles around us in serious risk of accident. I managed to pull the vehicle to the shoulder and later to a near by friend`s house in the galloway area. After contacting Nissan USA regarding the transmission, they told me to contact aamco, since they installed the new transmission. Aamco checked the vehicle and found out that, the problem was caused by the alternator that heated up, dropped voltage to 12v DC and caused the safe mode to engage, by making the vehicle unsafe on the middle of the highway. Nissan USA claims that this NHTSA campaign has been closed, when it is to my believe that, it should be re-opened and not only me, but also many other Nissan Murano owners, that still confront such factory defective issues to have this issue resolved. I was lucky to be able to act fast enough and bring my vehicle to safes way, would all others be so lucky?.

4 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 09/20/2010

While driving my 2004 Murano at 65mph the car all of sudden lost complete power, I was lucky to be able to get it over to the side of the freeway. The cars power train would not engage. I had the car towed to the dealership and they informed me the car had a recall that they would fix as well. This model seems to have many issues and Nissan should extend a larger warranty to cover them or buy back the vehicles.

5 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/12/2007

While gently applying brakes, the vehicle sometime lunges forward and the brake pedal must be pressed harder to continue slowing at the same rate. A Nissan area technical representative drove the vehicle with me. I told him he was stopping too quickly to notice the problem. I never could get him to try it while stopping gently. It may be a situation related to the cvt transmission disengaging from engine braking and only happen on while downhill braking.

6 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/20/2006

2004 Nissan Murano with 44,500 miles. Transmission disengages while car us running. Engine stays on but car decelerates. Happened 3 times while driving in the middle of a busy highway, while crossing a busy intersection, and while driving at low speeds in a neighborhood. On the highway I was able to shift the gears between neutral and drive and it finally re-engaged after several attempts.

7 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/05/2006

2003 Nissan Murano, at 2500 miles transmission seems to skip or disengage for a second at highway speeds. Dealer could not reproduce problem. At 12000 miles vehicle started to act up and same thing happen, this time vehicle seemed like it was in neutral gear. Vehicle recalled for alternator replacement, same week and I informed the dealer of the issue, they seemed not too concerned. At 35000 miles when driving in reverse, transmission clink noise. At 58000 took vehicle to dealer with a complaint that the transmission is acting up. Dealer installed a gas tank shied, and did not care to investigate the transmission issue and said all are ok. 64000 miles, after stopping at a traffic light, vehicle will not move forward, acceleration pedal pushed all the way. Vehicle will then suddenly pickup speed and lung forward. Vehicle rpm will kick up and down while driving at steady and cruising speeds giving the vehicle a feeling of sudden acceleration and deceleration. Situation is getting worse and no help from dealer since he recently went out of business.

8 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/06/2006

Had the alternator replaced on a recall - subsequent the vehicle stopped 3 times without warning in traffic - transmission not engaged and no power - rolled to stop on highway and battery is dead so cannot restart - returned to dealer twice and first said they had forgot to reflash the engine after the recall installation of the alternator - after that it stopped again in traffic without warning for the third time - returned to dealer and they said this time the alternator cable was loose - since I felt the vehicle unsafe to drive, I asked they contact Nissan at least for a new alternator and was willing to try one last time - Nissan service refused to help and then I considered the vehicle unsafe to drive - unfortunately I am able via our lease company to dispose of this vehicle and get another - please check your records because in my case, the problems started after the alternator change and it is very dangerous to stall unexpectedly in freeway traffic - all happened in first quarter 2006 - service details available if requested.
