4 Windshield problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/30/2011

When I lock my doors they go down all by themselves. Yesterday they went down the car got soaked inside. I don't feel safe because anybody can reach their hand in and open the doors. Car is 4 years old. Shouldnt be having these major repair problems. So far stress cracked windshield, squealing brakes, now all four windows going down after I lock it. This is a major safety issue what if the doors lock and the windows decide not togo down anymore something is bad wrong with the locking mechanism. I want to know why there hasn't been a recall for this very disturbing failure . Below it doesn't give you a choice to explain what is really wrong with the car thank you for letting me explain now.

5 Windshield problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/20/2010

I own a 2005 Nissan Murano and have uncovered a vehicle defect that is a safety hazard. The sun visors are a defective design and keep flipping completely down and blocking the view through the windshield. In some of the most inopportune times, your vision gets completely blocked until you flip it back up. That is very dangerous in the snow, rain, heavy traffic, or at night. Sometimes it can drop 2 - 3 times a minute. This is a problem on thousands of 2003 to 2007 Muranos. Replacing the sun visor is prohibitively expensive at $400 each and since this flaw has not been addressed at all by Nissan, you are only replacing a defective visor with a new one that will become defective in a couple of years. I replaced my driver's side visor 2 years ago because of this defect and the replacement one is now dropping again. Nissan has a TSB to replace the clip that holds the mirror side of the visor but that does not address the issue. The problem is a defective visor, not the clip. The visor shaft that inserts into the clip loosens inside the visor and rotates, and that is the defect. The weight of the visor easily overcomes any friction the shaft has inside the visor and down it comes. Nissan refuses to do anything about this safety defect. They won't cover it on the extended warrantees. There should be a safety recall to address this safety hazard. Is there anything that can be done except throw $400 to Nissan every 2 - 3 years to replace each single visor with another defective one? the passenger side is also now dropping. Nissan has recently raised the price considerably to gouge and capitalize on their poor design. Right now I have the visor tie wrapped to the side handle and that makes the visor completely useless. If I replace both again, I will have spent $1200 so far on visors to only expect to replace them again in 2012-2013. $1200 is a ridiculous price for replacing defective visors with new defective ones. Please help if you can.

6 Windshield problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

Both sun visors on my Nissan Murano started flopping vertically down. They do not stay up, nor tilted downwards against the windshield. As a result my view gets disturbed while startling me. Have checked with the dealer when getting another repair. They say that it costs $300-$500 each to replace them. No used sun visors are available in the after market as all sun visors tend to go bad. This is a 100% common safety issue with all Murano's and very expensive replacement where this should not have happened. I am 51 years old and never experienced this with any cars I have ever had.

7 Windshield problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/20/2010

The driver sun visor on the 2007 Nissan Murano doesn't stay in the open position (against the windshield). Visor drops down to a 90 degree angle from the roof in front of driver's eye sight.

8 Windshield problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/27/2010

2003 Nissan Murano. Sun visor failed while the vehicle was just past original warranty. Dealership replaced the visor for free because I had had other work done there. Sun visor is now failing for a second time, flops down unexpectedly over windshield while driving.

9 Windshield problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/22/2010

When driving over a bump or driving on a bumpy road the driver's side sun visor falls or drops down unexpectedly. It appears that the visor is not tightly held by the bracket that it sits on. When this occurs, there is complete loss of vision through the front windshield. When driving at higher speeds (or any speed for that matter), this loss of vision might cause an accident if the visor is not raised up quickly enough. I have researched this problem online and I have found that there are many, many other Nissan Murano owners with the same complaint, especially for owners with model years 2005, 2006 and 2007. This is definitely something that should be investigated before there are any serious accidents or loss of life as a result of this defect. This is something that should be recalled and replaced with a new sun visor. The passenger's side sun visor does not exhibit this behavior. This situation has happened to me numerous times.

10 Windshield problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

Sun visor will not stay up, either up against the headliner or against the windshield. Both sides have now failed to stay up.

11 Windshield problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 11/01/2009

2006 Nissan Murano: driver side sun visor will not stay in the up position. Flops down half way impeding line of sight through windshield. This is a safety hazard. Nissan will not replace the part free of charge even though this seems to be a common problem and is charging $400 for this part.

12 Windshield problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/01/2009

Nissan Murano 2004: driver visor no longer stays in upright position and can fall randomly during driving. There are dozens of similar reports on the internet regarding this. I reported this as a safety issue to my local Nissan dealer and national Nissan and they fail to consider it a safety issue - they want me to pay $300 to replace the visor. The visor is very large, and when the visor drops straight down, it can completely obscure vision out the windshield. I am afraid to continue driving this car.

13 Windshield problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/03/2008

I have just purchased a 2004 Nissan Murano and have been reading on the forum websites regarding the sun visor. My sun visor will not stay up on it's own in this vehicle. It may stay up for a few minutes, but if you hit a bump wrong the sun visor can swing down and block view of the windshield. This visor will also not stay up towards the windshield when I actually want to use it to block the sun so I can see. I feel it is a safety concern since I don't know when the sun visor will flip down and block my view of the road unexpectedly.

14 Windshield problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/06/2008

In February 2008 my 2007 Murano developed a windshield stress fracture. It was replaced by the dealer and installed by a glass company. As of today I have another stress fracture of the windshield.

15 Windshield problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/15/2008

I have a 2005 Nissan Murano and I am having to replace both sun visors. The driver side sun visor was the first to go and does not stay in any position except straight down. . . This is causing me to look under it and is very irritating as well as a seeing hazard. The passenger sun visor also will not stay in the up position but at least stays in the extended position against the windshield. Nissan says this is not their problem and it's not covered under my extended warranty. I have to fork out $253 a piece for these sun visors and clearly there is a problem.

16 Windshield problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/29/2005

I own a 2003 Murano. The driver's side visor fails to stay in place when pushed toward the windshield. It will, if you push it up, stay there only a couple seconds. When it falls, it blocks out half of your vision, making it impossible to see cars in front of you. I have a visor I can never use. I can't block out the sun in my eyes, and if I chose to, I am choosing to not see cars in front of me. Visor needs to be replaced.

17 Windshield problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/05/2005

The windshield is distorted. The glass is wavy, and it is hard to see out of. The windshield the problem was with the outer sides of the windshield. The consumer noticed the problem about two weeks after purchasing it. This occurred on April 5, 2005. When the consumer went to two different dealerships, he was advised that every vehicle of that year, make, and model had the same problem. When he contacted the manufacturer, they said that they were made that way. The contact states that the vehicle was supposed to be a 4-wheel drive, but it is only an all wheel drive vehicle when the road is wet.

18 Windshield problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/01/1901

2003 Nissan Murano developed multiple problems. The drivers side window motor was inoperative. The rear taillight was out, the door ajar light remained lit even when the door was closed, the drivers side mirror was replaced, the windshield was distorted and therefore replaced, the cd player was inoperative.
