3 Windshield Wiper/washer problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/16/2007

- the contact has a 2006 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that in the midst of driving the windshield wipers would completely stop working until the following day. The contact stated that this was a design problem because the ice went down below the hood, and it stopped the windshield wipers from working. The ice prevented the windshield wipers from going all the way down and then come back up. The contact stated that the windshield wipers must be able to go all the way down in order for them to work properly. She would just like to have it fixed, because she did not want to be afraid to drive in a storm. The contact was told by the dealer that she should lift the hood and clean the area where the windshield wipers were. This happened once before in another storm, and she was able to get the windshield wipers going again. Each time this happened the contact was in a bad storm. The failure and current mileage were both 4600 . Update *4/23/07.

4 Windshield Wiper/washer problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 09/01/2005

I would like to inform you that the windshield washer spray nozzle does not direct the fluid properly on the windshield. This is especially true for the passenger side of the vehicle. When spraying the washer fluid it hits very low on the windshield and does not allow any fluid to the upper half the glass. In fact it will hit the wiper arm first and this then blocks any additional fluid to hit during the first pass. Also note the following observations. That when you driving at highway speed, the air flow over the hood directs the fluid to the lower half on both sides. This is dangerous during winter driving with snow and ice falling and on the road. Placement of the nozzles are in the wrong location. They get blocked by snow and ice. This also becomes a safety hazard. I have taken the vehicle in and they said nothing can be done about it. Âthe nozzles can not be adjustedã‚쳜. This is unacceptable. I do not know how many complaints you have received about this situation but from what I have seen on various web forums I am not the only one with this problem. Are you aware of the problem and is their a fix for this problem?.

5 Windshield Wiper/washer problem of the 2004 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/23/2005

There seems to be a defect in the wiper system on the Murano. After a snowstorm I cleaned the windshield of snow and turned on the wipers. Snow blew off the top of the car, the right wiper pushed it down. As a result the right wiper could not go down completely. This threw off the timing of the left and right wiper and the two got tangled and bend. A new left wiper was ordered and paid for from Nissan on Feb 3, 2004. In the meantime the wiper were bend back into position. Earlier this week it snowed again sand the same thing happened and now the wipers are totally mangled. It has been over 3 weeks since I paid for a new wiper and the parts dept at Nissan in englewood cliffs NJ tells me they are on back order and cannot be obtained. The service dept at the same dealer tells me the wipers shouldn't be used when there is snow. I would like to know if I am the only one with the problem why is there a backorder. The car cannot be used in the rain nor snow.

6 Windshield Wiper/washer problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 02/05/2004

The windshield wipers cannot be raised to wipe off accumulating snow and ice without opening the hood. This is not simply an inconvenience, but, on highways during a snow storm, a significant safety hazard.

7 Windshield Wiper/washer problem of the 2003 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 11/29/2003

Nissan Murano has dangerous design defects compounded by unresolved electronics problems. Design flaws: 1) ineffective defroster system , 2) long-armed wipers clog easily, 3) all doors must be unlocked to get gas (inviting carjackers). The defroster-wiper problem was made worse by electronics. While I was clearing windows the car locked in 13 degree weather. The car: 1) locks doors at random intervals , 2) puts the windows down without warning (the service manager says, "don't not leave valuables in this car!"), 3) the remote entry system often does not beep requiring that I check all doors (especially given the other problems with locks), 4) now the car sometimes tells me that the driver's door is open (when it is not). The car is virtually new (less than 6,000 miles). Nissan knows they have this problem. There is an internal service memo it. But when consumers complain they are "stone-walled" with, "we could not duplicate the problem. " last Friday my caracted up at the dealership. The service manager acknowledged in writing on Nissan letterhead. This problem exists and it is in a number of models -- maxima, altima, titan trucks, and Muranos. Nissan shouldrecall all of the affected vehicles, provide rental cars while repairs are made, and to issue credit vouchers for all of the past aggravation they caused by their failing to provide good-faith solutions to the problems they know exist.
