1 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/16/2024

My sunroof exploded but I don't know why. There was no warning. Might have been a rock but I didn't see one. I had the sunroof closed but the fabric cover was open for light. I heard an explosive noise and then glass started raining in. I closed the fabric cover to keep the glass out of the passenger compartment. No real injuries other than a couple of glass shards being sharp. Mostly just got some skin irritation. Some areas on my car have scratched paint and plastic parts. I had my Nissan dealer look at it. They will clean up the glass and replace the sunroof for about $2000. I feel like it should be replaced for free as a warranty item. I also got an estimate from a collision shop for about $7500. There is scratched paint and plastic as well as the headliner certainly has glass in it. Their estimate was much more detailed. Filed an insurance claim today, so hope to have it all fixed up soon.

2 Wiper problem of the 2018 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 10/07/2024

System: exterior lighting / visibility / unknown or other VIN: 5n1az2mh6jn199173 mileage: approx. 93,500 date: October 2024 issue: after a service visit, my headlights became excessively bright and misaligned. The windshield also began reflecting light in distorted ways, especially at night or in rain. I now experience glare, light flickering, and visibility interference. This makes night driving unsafe and was not present before the dealership visit. I believe the components may have been altered or coated without my knowledge.

Failure Date: 09/30/2023

The hood of my car flew open while driving.

4 Wiper problem of the 2018 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/01/2023

During the heat in summer 2023 a clip placed in the sunroof melted and resulted in the sun roof not opening any longer. According to the Nissan dealership they have seen several of these and this should be a recall. A consumer has no ability to rectify this nor keep it from happening.

9 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 09/01/2021

My driver side sun visor has failed. It will not stay up in the home position nor will it stay against the windshield. It has simply flopped down and is blocking my view through the windshield. The only way I can operate my Murano is to move the visor to the left against the window of the driver's door. From the research I have done I have gleaned that this is an intrinsic design flaw common on all Murano and rouge vehicles. And replacing it with an oem sun visor at the dealership will not remedy the problem since the one they install will also fail eventually. Nissan has turned a deaf ear and blind eye to this critical safety hazard that obstructs the driver's forward view. There should be a recall on these visors. But don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. I, for one, am not going to shell out the $400 that the dealership wants for the replacement visor. . . Nor am I going to pay $150 an hour shop labor to have it installed. People be aware that there are non-oem replacement visors available on ebay and amazon in the $50 price range and if you look on youtube there are videos showing how to simply and easily install the new visor yourself with little more than a flathead screwdriver and a phillips head screw driver. Best of luck to everyone!.

10 Wiper problem of the 2009 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/24/2021

The backup camera only works at night and even then it is grainy. During the day I can only see a green screen with the yellow and red guidelines. But not what is actually behind my vehicle. This is very dangerous and makes backing this 2009 Nissan Murano SUV difficult. It's a large vehicle with blind spots. The main reason I bought the car was because it has a backup camera installed. I have seen blogs with same complaint. Nissan offers no help or solution. Have been told I would have to buy a whole new camera and dash navigation screen. Very expensive.

11 Wiper problem of the 2015 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/01/2021

I wrote this to Nissan. They called me and said there is no recall for this and not under warranty so nothing they can do. They mentioned submitting issue to this site: "2015 Murano, water leak that collects on the floor of the driver's side front and back and trunk in the area of the spare tire. Couldn't figure out why for 2 years. Finally took to auto body place tried flushing out moon roof drain. Okay for a month then 2 days of downpours & all 3 areas had lakes in them. Musty/moldy smell was so bad I had to rip out all of the carpeting of the car in those areas & had a pro car detailer do an ozone treatment & detailing. Hopefully the mold issue is a little better after this & scrubbing everywhere in the car w/ clorox/water mix. The smell seems better and we are able to garage it now, but still can’t drive the car in heavy rains, which is ridiculous. Since this is an obvious manufacturer defect, and not from normal wear & tear of driving a car, in this happening and causing all of this damage to my car, even though I am not under warranty as I have 109,000 miles on the car, Nissan needs to fully take care of this issue for me for free and repay me the $150 for what the autobody place did and $150 for the detailing and then a guarantee that I will not have water issues from there. Replacing the carpeting and making sure I have no mold issues in the car moving forward needs to be part of this as well, as my wife has asthma and this is beyond ridiculous with the health issue concerns caused by this manufacturer defect. This is also ridiculous that I have to cut and rip the carpets out of my car and have mold issues with such a large company that should have put a recall out on this defect years ago. I now see complaints all over the internet about this same issue for this same model and year car, with no resolution from Nissan from any that I saw of other people having the same issue and trying to fix the issue themselves. How can there not be a recall to fix this?".

12 Wiper problem of the 2020 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/20/2021

I went from a white 2019 Nissan Murano to a black 2020 Murano. The week after I got it, I took a trip to the gulf coast. On my way down, when the sun was overhead, the rear "lip" of the hood acted just like a mirror and reflected the sun right in the drivers eyes. If you look at the hood, it slants up like a normal hood, then the last 3 inches are tilted down toward the cowl/windshield wiper area. I am attaching a picture, however it does not accurately show how bright this reflection is. It is exactly like somebody taking a mirror and shining it in your eyes. I participate in the Nissan employee lease program and took it back to the administrator and they said that they cannot do anything about it; that it was a design issue. This situation only happens when the sun is high in the sky but it is a very dangerous situation when it reflects in your eyes. Below asks for a specific date but it happens any time the conditions are right.

13 Wiper problem of the 2018 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 11/25/2020

About 2 months ago, the display window showing audio selections, rearview camera, navigation, etc. Began rapidly jumping back and forth from screen to screen. Nothing I did, affected it, thus I wasn't able to change channels or get full view when backing up. When in reverse, 2 lines of text were displayed, blocking the camera view. One said, "display settings", but when I pressed it, nothing happened. Upon starting the car, the time varies as to when the irregularities begin. Sometimes it starts immediately, but other times it may appear normal for a few minutes and then start. But once it starts, it doesn't stop until the vehicle is turned off. It seems to be an electrical issue since nothing I've tried remedies it. In the "when did this happen" section below, I will put the approximate date the issue started, but as I said, it is a continuous problem.

14 Wiper problem of the 2011 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/06/2020

Safety issue! my Murano driver side visor will not stay up and is very dangerous. My car is only 9 years old and I looked online and this is a known issue for several years for Nissan, even for 3 year old cars and could cause a serious accident when it falls covering the drivers vision both front and rear view mirror! this car and item should be recalled. Owners should not have to pay for their own safety for an issue like this.

15 Wiper problem of the 2012 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/15/2020

While driving, the driver's side visor fell down and would not go back up and stay in place. I contacted the Nissan dealer about this issue and was told it was my problem to replace it. I bought my 2012 Murano used in April 2020 with 74k miles on it. The visor issue happened within the first 30 days of owning the vehicle.

16 Wiper problem of the 2017 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/22/2020

On January 22, 2020 around 5:30 am I discovered that my backup camera was not functioning. I turned my car off and on at least three times to try and get it to work but that did not resolve the issue. The backup camera is showing the red, green and yellow guide lines but the screen is black. It is not returning any images from behind the vehicle. The vehicle was at home in a parking spot when this occurred. One week later to today, January 28,2020, the backup camera is still not functioning properly. It did work for a few days on its own without being repaired after January 22,2020 and then stopped working again. It seem to be working off and on and I do not know what is causing it. When I contacted Nissan, my vehicle millage was at 36,099. Nissan of coral springs florida stated that the warranty expired at 36,000 and will not honor my vehicle. I am a mother of two young children and do not feel comfortable reversing in my Nissan because looking through the back or rear glass of the Nissan Murano is very difficult due to its design.

17 Wiper problem of the 2012 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/21/2020

While driving down the highway I heard a loud bang and I then realized that my sunroof had shattered. Glass shards were sliding around on the sunroof cover. I contacted Nissan after seeing numerous reports and even a lawsuit about this, but they denied my claim forcing me to pay for the repairs of a fault that Nissan admitted to in the lawsuit.

18 Wiper problem of the 2012 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/12/2020

Our car has 60000 miles. It has been well taken care of. The problem that we are having with this car is you can be driving down the road and all of a sudden the sun visor will drop and block your vision. I have been driving over 50 years and I have never had a problem like this in any other vehicle. The dealer said it is my problem and wants over 300. 00 to fix it. When I looked up to see if there was a way to tighten the visor I found out it is a on going problem with many people. I believe it is a manufacture and a safety problem. Like I said you are driving down the road and all of a sudden your vision is taken away. Please get someone to take responsibility for this problem.

19 Wiper problem of the 2019 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/19/2019

The windshield on my vehicle chips extremely easily and quite possibly is defective. I am concerned for my safety for the belief that the windshield will not hold up as intended in an accident or if something large were to strike it. When I am in motion, several car lengths away, very tiny stones tossed up from small vehicles away are creating large divots/chips. It appears the type of street - city or highway - does not matter; it happens on both at varied speeds and temperature/weather conditions. 5 chips on the windshield in less than 2 months is much higher than the statistical average. Especially when I have been driving the same roads for 4 years in 3 different vehicles, two of which were Muranos (a 2018 and 2019) and only the recent Murano (2019) has had all of these chips. There are also many other nicks that just didn't break more. *I have had all the chips repaired, but anticipating more in the future.

26 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Murano

Sunroof exploded. Driving on the highway and the sunroof suddenly shattered and glass showered the interior of the vehicle. This was not caused by impact with an object. 31 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/24/2019

Car won't start. Taken to dealership four times in one month and continues to have issues. Originally told it was the ipdm module which was replaced. About a week and half later the engine wouldn't start again but the dashboard lights, radio and heat/air wouldn't shut off. Was told this time that it was a faulty battery which was replaced. After picking it up and driving less than 10 miles and sitting for a few hours it wouldn't start again. Every single light on the dashboard is on and again the engine won't start or cut off the lights. Had it towed back to the dealership and 4 days later was told that it was due to a rusty bolt of some sort that was loose and needed to be replaced. 2 days later it wouldn't start again. A few hours later the car starts but the check engine light is on. Car was towed to dealership again and it has now been four days with no updates from the dealership. Also - drivers side sunvisor is broken and won't stay up which impairs vision. After all of these trips to the dealership they said it would cost over $200 to fix. I didn't think much of it until I reviewed and noticed that many other have the same issue with the sun visors so this is not an isolated incident.

32 Wiper problem of the 2017 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/16/2019

The hood has a angle in the aft end which reflects the sun to the drivers face and impere driving.

33 Wiper problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/09/2019

The seat bracket broke. Really a seat bracket that breaks from fatigue of entering and leaving the vehicle?!? safety concern sun visor no longer holds its position due to plastic that wears out. Safety issue. Transmission failure at just over 100,000 miles. Reports all over the web about this. So common, and so expensive. Major safety issue. Nissan has done nothing to address these issues that are so common with all of these models. It is not just me, there is report after report on the web. All the same issues.

34 Wiper problem of the 2006 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

35 Wiper problem of the 2010 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/24/2018

My 2010 Murano suddenly developed a loose driver's interior sun visor that has became progressively worse. It will not stay in the "up" position and will drop down to the point where it blocks my view out the windshield while driving. From discussions at various Nissan online sites, I have found that many other owners have experienced the same problem for one or both visors. Something inside the visor itself breaks and the visor will no longer stay where one sets it. I have had mine suddenly fall down unexpectedly while driving or especially going over a bump, road vibrations or small pothole etc. And it will not stay up, so suddenly without warning my view of the road and traffic in front of me is blocked. Very dangerous situation.
