36 Wiper problem of the 2007 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/12/2018

"Nissan Murano" drivers seat left side seat mount bracket that mounts to floor boards cracked and completely broke causing me to swerve into on coming traffic. A head on collision was closely avoided. I contacted ken (xxxx) Nissan in medina ohio and they said that Nissan motors will do nothing about it because it is not a safety issue and will do nothing about it. This issue I feek is an obvious safety issue and the vehicle shoud be recalled. I has the seat welded so it would work again but the weld eventually failed. Seat is now broke.

Common problem, with my car and I've noticed with other 2012 owners, is a floppy sun visor on driver's side which will not stay in place therefore obstructing vision. I paid to have visor replaced, but think that recall should be issued for this problem.

41 Wiper problem of the 2017 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/23/2018

The car hood has a ridge that slopes toward the driver directly in front of the windshield wipers. The sun reflects directly into the driver when there is morning or afternoon sun and the sun visor cannot be positioned low enough to block the reflection. This reflection can temporarily blind the driver while the car is in motion. I am trading this car in for another vehicle because of this issue.

42 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/19/2018

The driver's side sun visor droops and doesn't stay in the stowed position. Instead, it falls without warning and obstructs the driver's view which is a serious safety issue that places the driver, passengers and other motorists at risk. This is a known issues with the Murano and is not isolated to the 2014 model year. Do a search on the NHTSA website for Murano sun visor and you will see more than a dozen issues reported. And those are the issues that were reported via the NHTSA website, imagine how many actually are out there unreported! there is no excuse why Nissan or the NHTSA hasn't investigated this further and issued a recall. Looking the other way regarding this matter is no longer an option, the manufacturer and NHTSA need to take action immediately. The dealer typically wants >$400+ to replace this sun visor and many consumers have had it replaced only to need to replace it again! this is simply unacceptable and is evidence that the part is poorly engineered. I challenge Nissan to step up and do the right thing and issue a recall and replace these downright dangerous sun visors before there is a fatal accident and litigation. The Murano is marketed as an upmarket product and if the trim inside falls short of that in terms of quality and is a flawed design that could potentially result in an accident due to obstructed view, this must be addressed immediately. We will be taking our vehicle to the dealer to be repaired but do not wish to pay the egregious price for a replacement that will likely fail again due to a design defect. Again, I call on NHTSA and Nissan to take action and address this issue immediately! NHTSA is mandated to protect motorists and here is a clear case where they can step in and take action and prevent harm to consumers.

I have a 2017 Nissan Murano. I was driving on a highway at approximately 12 in the afternoon when we heard a loud explosion on the roof of the car. The sunroof glass and headliner were both closed. I slightly opened the headliner and could see the glass was shattered. I immediately pulled over on the side of the highway and looked on top of the car to find the front section of the panoramic sunroof had completely exploded and was shatter. The glass was actually protruding upward so it was obvious nothing had falling from the sky on top of it. The glass, then gave way and completely fell on the fabric headliner. We then spent the next hour and a half on the side of the highway waiting for a tow truck where the vehicles was then towed to a Nissan dealer. At the time of incident, it was 75 degrees outside and clear day. I was driving 55 miles per hour.

51 Wiper problem of the 2017 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/02/2018

I am concerned about the glare from the hood that blinds me when I'm driving. When the sun shines on the hood it causes a glare that prevents the driver from seeing the road. This has been going on since I purchased the car in March 2018. I have tried adjusting my seat, adjusting the steering wheel, and wearing uv protected sunglasses. None of these solutions help the problem. Now I'm experiencing eye pains that I'm worried may be related. But most importantly I'm worried that the glare will cause me to have a car accident.

52 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Murano

54 Wiper problem of the 2013 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/14/2017

The driver and passenger window visors are defective. They will not stay up and thus create a safety hazard with visibility. Right now I have them held up with velcro but now they are rendered useless for blocking the sun which creates another safety hazard. I have spoken with a Nissan dealership about having them replaced and was quoted a price over $500, and according to the employee they are the exact same visors. Why would I want to pay to replace a faulty product with the exact same faulty product? according to the internet and the dealership this is a common problem with these visors yet Nissan has not stepped in to make it right. Thank you for any help you can provide.

55 Wiper problem of the 2010 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 12/04/2017

Driving north on the I-15 freeway, approximately 70 mph (the posted speed limit), in the fast lane, it was evening, dark outside, around 7 pm. There were no curves in the road at that time. All of the sudden my sun roof glass exploded with a huge bang sound, extremely loud, and immediately there was a lot of wind noise. I had the interior sunroof screen closed, thank goodness. Otherwise I would've been covered in tempered glass. I pulled off the freeway as quickly and safely as I could, into a gas station parking lot to evaluate the situation. Upon inspection, I noticed there was approximately a 2 x 1 hole in the center of my front sunroom. Shards of glass were everywhere, and the interior netting was shredded. I was able to get some plastic and duct tape to cover the window enough so that I could get home. It was also a windy day.

60 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 08/14/2017

Drivers side visor does not stay up. While driving visor drops with out warning. Very hazardous. Has almost caused wreck . Ongoing problem with these vehicles.

61 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 07/29/2017

While driving the driver side sun visor falls without warning, obstructing vision. It will not stay all the way up. Sometimes it falls all the way down, and sometimes it stops partway down and if I make a quick stop my head hit it. I cannot lower the automatic seat far enough to get below it sufficiently. This is a safety hazard because it blocks my view while driving. I took this vehicle to the Nissan dealership and they can repair it by installing a completely new visor assembly at a cost of nearly $300, but they do not want to do so because the problem will recurr after some time. They say it is a defect that Nissan has not corrected. I researched the problem and within minutes found hundreds of people with the same problem. This happens whenever the vehicle is in motion, but the visor will not stay up even when parked.

62 Wiper problem of the 2013 Nissan Murano

The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

63 Wiper problem of the 2017 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 06/27/2017

Glare from the chrome area of the side air vents into the side view mirrors both driver and passenger side. The reflection from the chrome around the side air vents into the side view mirrors distorts the drivers vision on both mirrors. This is a definite safety hazard and Nissan should correct the problem. It appears Nissan has failed to correct this problem and that others have complained about this problem as well. I have had 3 other Murano's and never had a problem until this model and year .

64 Wiper problem of the 2015 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/24/2017

Less than 48 hours of ownership and viva Nissan of el paso TX would not take back this vehicle that has a horrible glare reflection from the sun when the stylized hood angles reflect back light into the vehicle and against other dash chrome accents. Dealer did, however, send us to his "favorite" auto tint shop, universal tinting in el paso TX. They were told by the dealer to put on a 70% optik nano ceramic tint across the windshield and send the Nissan dealer the bill of $100. That company did such a rush job and left bubbles and visual impression of viewing through a fishbowl, not to mention the slime residual from the application that was left all across the leather dash board. 82 hours after purchase we reviewed that 70% is not street legal in new mexico where the car dealer knew we resided, so we took the car to a nm window tint company who will be removing the "dirty job" (as they described it) and will do a clean, clear job using 80% ceramic type product (blue air 80 bl sr hpr). Firstly, why after less than 48 hours did the dealer, viva Nissan of el paso texas not follow our request to freeze the funding and let us return the 2015 Murano and select another less dangerous vehicle to drive? secondly, why would a 3rd party window tinting company offer a solution that was not street legal in our residing state? and most importantly, why isn't Nissan building these overglassed, over classed, over styleized vehicles with such repeating complaints of glare without providing a factory solution to the windshield or paint coating? I guess it could be worse, our transmission could blow if it's one of the unlucky ones from a certain timeframe when Nissan factories were trying to save a dime and installed cheaper parts. Hmmm.

65 Wiper problem of the 2013 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 05/16/2017

1st . . . Driver side sunvisor with cosmetic mirror, falls down while driving; obscuring the operators forward vision. 2nd driver side sunvisor with cosmetic mirror will not remain up in the properly seated position.

66 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 04/15/2017

Drivers side sun visor is will not stay in any set position. This is a serious safety issue on any day that the sun out, particularly driving into the sun. This is a critical safe driving component of any vehicle. Very expensive part to purchase, for what it is, because of the high demand since so many have failed. The sun visor will not stay up, as it will just drop in front of your line of vision, and it will not stay towards windshield to block the blinding sun. It looks like these complaints have been placed in various areas on here.

67 Wiper problem of the 2016 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 03/21/2017

Under certain lighting conditions from the sun, a strong glare can appear and come through the windshield and into the driver's and/or passenger's eyesight. This is caused by the design of the hood and where it dips down near the front edge of the windshield. There is about a 5" wide area that spans the with of the hood, around the lower section of the windshield. I have read of others having this same issue and the light can be 'blinding' at times like the light reflecting off a mirror on a bright sunny day. For safety reasons, I have decided to coat this area of the hood with either a matte finished vinyl or a matte finished plasti-dip spray. I am hoping this will alleviate/eliminate the dangers of this glare that can happen. ** to note, I have read of others expressing their concerns with this issue on automotive forums so I know it is more common than originally thought.

68 Wiper problem of the 2016 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/08/2017

While driving on interstate at 70 mph, front passenger door window suddenly and unexpectedly shattered into thousands of pieces falling onto passenger, exterior, and blowing around interior of vehicle. To best of our knowledge nothing hit the window, no car was on either side of us. Pieces of glass cut passenger, but luckily none got into eyes of passenger or driver. This caused driver to swerve , but recovered control. Small pieces of glass in driver's hair etc. Had to drive 350 miles home in cold weather . Took vehicle to a dealer [ travelling , so not selling dealer]. Dealer notified manufacturer of problem and report of incident. Manufacturer responded that since all pieces of glass could not be recovered, they could not reassemble entire window, therefor impossible to test glass for defects. Yet there was large amount of glass inside of vehicle. Owner stated that by that reasoning no shattered window would ever be investigated, so how would anyone know if defective? concern is with remaining windows in same vehicle as well as others mfg at same time. Might something , unbeknown to owner , have struck subject window previously while parked unattended, leaving no mark, but weakening glass allowing future sudden shatter ? maybe. But possibility also exists of defective glass or installation during assembly, but manufacturer refused to investigate that possibility repeating that they would need every piece of glass[impossible]. If other same make and model experience same, it increases defect possibility. If our incident is only one, it increases chance of ours being previously damaged. At minimum, all drivers be aware, as we narrowly escaped disaster in above case. Dealer was very helpful, manufacturer concerned and helpful, but restated they could not test glass without all pieces. Does mfg make, or purchase glass from vendor?.

69 Wiper problem of the 2014 Nissan Murano

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

My 2014 Nissan Murano drivers side sun visor does not stay in place and has to be held in place by a small bungee cord now since Nissan states it's not a covered repair. The cost to buy a new visor and install is over $370 from the dealer. This is a safety hazard and should not be responsible for the cost. A quick search on the internet confirms many others with the same issue.

70 Wiper problem of the 2005 Nissan Murano
