3 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

Approx. 1 year ago I noticed that my engine coolant had trans fluid in it so I looked online and found the extended warranty. I then took the Pathfinder into hamilton Nissan in hagerstown MD. They replaced the radiator and installed a rebuilt transmission. About 3 weeks ago I noticed that the Pathfinder was not shifting into overdrive. Now the transmission will not shift into overdrive and now slips in and out of 2nd and 3rd gear. This is very dangerous. I was almost t-boned this morning because the Pathfinder would not go into gear while the trans was in drive, which is why I am submitting this complaint.

4 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2013

The 2005 Nissan Pathfinder was going down the road and it began to hard shift. The revs would go high and then the car would shift very hard. Then while going down the road at about 55mph the car shifted into neutral. The car would not engage any gears and I had to pull of the road. Once the vehicle was stopped it would not engage any gears. I tried to reset from park and still nothing. I turned off the car and then back on,then I placed the car into "d" drive at which time it had a long delay before engaging the gear hard. Then I rolled off slowly and again, it reved up high before going into the next gear. As soon as I got to about 20 mph it shifted into neutral before coasting to a stop. I had to repeat the off/on procedure and keep it under 20 mph before I got to a safe place. The car continue to go down the road between 15-20 mph at high revs in order to get it to a mechanic shop. There were no warning signs, no indicators that the car was going to shift into neutral and the worst thing is that I was with my family in the car when this occured with a high volume of cars on the road which made it a dangerous condition for the car to unexpectedly shift into neutral.

5 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2012

Automatic transmission started to slip and would not go into gears. After parking the car, found that the car would not go into reverse either and all it would do is rev. Car has been on regular maintenance schedule. Very disappointed to see that this problem occurred with under 100k miles.

6 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2011

My Pathfinder has 150,000 miles on the transmission. The Pathfinder is a 2005. The problem with the vehicle is that the transmission is malfunctioning. While driving on the freeway, I had trouble with the power in the vehicle. It was slipping and not going into gear all the time. The mechanic stated that it is an electrical problem with the transmission and that Nissan already knew of the problem but did not do a recall on the transmission. Also because the transmission slipped, it also lunged forward while driving it. This could cause a major accident. At this point, Nissan is not acknowledging that it is a problem with their vehicles. They said they would not discuss the problem unless it was diagnosed by a Nissan dealer at a cost of several hundred dollars.

There were no recalls for the failure. The manufacturer was contacted who advised that they will give her a return call within a few days. The vehicle was not repaired.
