I own a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder and the transmission went out due to a default in the radiator. It's going to cost me $3000 to fix a problem that Nissan new about. I was on my way to lunch and it just stopped in the middle of the highway. No warning or anything.
Hi there I recently bought this vehicle 2 days ago from muller Toyota philipsburg NJ it have 157500 miles. The time I bought I didn't know there was transmission problem and neither the dealer didn't told me. I payed 8000 dollar plus taxes on this vehicle. After two days I found out that radiator coolant is mixed in transmission and making drilling sounds I call the dealer he didn't give me any good response. I took the car to the meinke shop they said they will change the radiator and drain the coolant and transmission oil but they not sure if there is any internal damage done to transmission or not if this didn't fixes the problem I need to repair the transmission which will cost 2700 dollar were I am going to get that money I am poor guy and I cant afford that money if I know that I will never ever buy Nissan this the biggest mistake of my life. I dont no what to do now. Please help I am totally screwed I almost spend 10000 dollars and I am still suffering.
Defective radiator cracked and the fluid went into my transmission ruining both. Known defect admitted by Nissan, but limited warranty being awarded per class action lawsuit. This is prevalent and I should not have to pay 3,000 due to their production of a defective product it would stutter when shifting gears, and sometime not accelerate properly, very dangerous as mom driving with 4 small children!.
Contamination from radiator into transmission.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while accelerating, the vehicle starting making a vibrating motion. The contact also stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator was leaking onto the transmission, and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 122,600. Mf.
On November 6, 2015 around or about 7:00pm my v6 2008 Nissan Pathfinder service engine light turned on while in first gear in mostion; the SUV engine and transmission turned off had no brakes and had a fender bender while in motion , had the SUV towed home and checked the code on the obd and it read code: u1000 controller area network (can) communcation line sigal malfunction. Did a visual check inside radiator filler port, electrical fuse (10amp fuse to the transmission blew which atomcticly told me a communication harness is open or shorted; or a faulty engine control module(ecm))and also checked the resivor filler port, found red transmission fluid and green engine coolent fluid incorporated in radiator (contamination) ,also checked transmission dip stick to see if transmisson fluids low but instead found rust at the end part of the dipstick inside the transmisson indicating engine coolent contamination (water) all inside the transmission. Who know how much rust is inside the transmission until a full tear down and thorough inspection is performed. . . . . Car is stationary and will not start.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was diagnosed, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Our Pathfinder seemingly lost power and control, almost resulting in near collision with another vehicle approaching and another vehicle behind almost rear ended while turning into shopping plaza. Coasted to side while smoke and yellowish/ green liquid poured out from the hood. Had to have it towed. Mechanics analysis was related to contamination from coolant / radiator / transmission. Complete failure of transmission and radiator and cross contamination of all related parts. Possibly $6000 to $8000 repair costs. Total loss to us, and we still owe for financing, truck is probably not even valued at that.
Car began experiencing difficulty shifting. Repair shop reports transmission fluid and coolant intermixing, requiring replacement of both the radiator and the transmission.
When I pulled out in to oncoming traffic my car revved but did not go anywhere. My 5 year old was in his baby seat with car and trucks honking and swerving around my truck to avoid us.
At just over 100k miles (101406) my radiator leaked into the transmission and ruined the transmission. Nissan will not cover the repair at all because I am 1406 out of the class action settlement. Speaking with the local dealer they said there was nothing I could have done from the service side to prevent it.
Transmition failure hard shifting due to coolant contaminates the transmition, radiator and transmition needs to be replace.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle started violently shaking without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
My wife was driving her Pathfinder and it stopped in the middle of an intersection. My wife is disabled and has had many back surgery. The radiator is leaking into the transmission causing it to stall at anytime loosing power to the power steering and breaks. I believe this is a life threatening issue losing power down the highway with a truck behind you can cause a serious accident. 2 gentlemen got out of there vehicles to push my wife to safety.
Vehicle threw a code (p0463 - fuel gauge sending unit) indicating the fuel gauge sending unit is malfunctioning. This is a problem which Nissan north America is aware of however failing to correct on many vehicles. Failure of the fuel gauge sending unit has many possible severe symptoms including, but not limited 1) failure of the fuel gauge to properly indicate levels of fuel, 2) failure of the fuel gauge in its entirety and/or 3) failure of the sending unit to properly function while in vehicles are in use potentially causing affected vehicles to shut down while in motion. Also a know problem with radiator leaking into automatic transmission which resulted in class action lawsuit against Nissan north America. Settlement was reached in which Nissan offers to pay for any and all repairs only if malfunction occurs, however when malfunction occurs it can be a significant safty issue affecting the performance of the impacted vehicle.
Started noticing a vibration in the Pathfinder at 40 miles per hour. Called to set an appointment and the dealer did not get back to me. The problem got worse called again and got through after waiting 20 minutes. Took it in today and was told I need a radiator and transmission for $4500. 00. I told them to let me think about it. Then found out that this is going on with many Nissan vehicles. There was a class action law suit but because I now have over 100000 miles it does not apply to me. So this manufacturing defect is totally out of pocket for me. If they know of a manufacturing defect should this not be a recall.
Coolant leaked into the engine compartment causing significant transmission issues. The problem was supposed to resolved as we had it cleaned up. . . The vehicle worked ok for a couple of days and the problem reappeared getting worse and worse. . . The vehicle is undrivable at this point. This is not the first time I've heard of this issue with this make and model.
I, a female, purchased a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder from integrity Chevrolet in chattanooga, TN. A day later the Pathfinder is skipping, vibrating and rattling, rear end clunking at 40 mph. Shifts hard at 4 and 5. Got 4 mechanics and the Nissan dealership to check all this out and they all concluded the coolant overflow tank was filthy, stinks- not the sweet smell- smelled burnt and rusty. The valves were bloated and radiator cap seal was loose. Low on coolant, high in water. Transmission and radiator needs to be flushed and checked for 'sludge'! the dealership's associate, jamie ryan, assured me the 2008 Pathfinder had been serviced and all fluids checked and filled. The Nissan dealership and the 4 mechanics all stated that 'no service or fluids were checked!' if it had been, the dealership would have known of this transmission issue! the coolant from the radiator is mixing with the transmission fluid in the transmission, causing a milky- sludge. No one can convince me that this dealership, integrity Chevrolet, in chatt, TN, did not know of this issue- it is a very common issue with the Nissan Pathfinders, xterras and frontiers years 2006-2010. Any good associate would have known this issue- in order to sell this automobile honestly! jamie ryan, to whom I have known for over 20 years, screwed me over and saw an unknowing, innocent woman coming his way! I had to be a good joke that day. This dealership knew they had to get rid of this Pathfinder quickly b/c it is a 'lemon'!.
I was traveling at highway speeds going about 60mph and the car suddenly jerked nearly giving me whiplash. I then looked down at the gauge cluster and no lights were on and everything seemed normal, and in about 5 seconds it did it again. . . I slowed down as fast as I could to merge over and get out of traffic and as I went to pull off the car shut down and I could not get it restarted. I had to have it towed to my house and parked it for a few days. The battery went dead from trying to start it so much so I took it to a o'reily and found the battery to be bad so it was replaced. The car then started up and I drove slowly around my nieghborhood and it seemed ok. The next day my wife took it back to o'reliy to have the alternator tested and it was fine. I thought maybe it was something wrong to cause it to shut down like that and as she was driving home it did the same thing again. After much research it seems that this is a known issue with Nissan Pathfinders and that they did not let the owners know about the issue with the radiator fluid mixing with the tranny fluid and rendering the vehicle useless. I called Nissan today and was told that I am out of luck since the vehicle is out of warranty.
Upon driving at 25mph the rpm's increased without any power. No matter how much gas I gave it o would only crawl and could barely exit the intersection. I was able to pull over and shut the car off. I tried to turn it back on and it would not. I brought it back to the dealer and was informed the radiator and transmission are bad. I then learned that this is a problem with many Nissan SUV's.
Car suddenly stalls and will not drive in "reverse". Per mechanic, there is a crack in the radiator which is allowing coolant from the radiator to enter into the transmission. Apparently, there has been a previous lawsuit against Nissan for this same issue. A recall on these "cracked radiators" must be issued immediately.
The radiator cracked sending the fluid straight to the transmission and damaged the transmission and the radiator so now I need both new parts estimate about 5,700 from Nissan dealership.
I own a Nissan Pathfinder 2008. The problem was noticed when the vehicle's radiator began to run hot. We took it to a repair shop and was told that the coolant was mixing with the transmission fluid. We replaced the radiator in hopes that the damage had not extended to the transmission. While out of town on a trip, the transmission went out in the Pathfinder. The truck was transported to the local dealer who advised that the transmission was gone, and it would require replacing. I have previously called Nissan and was advised that there was some type of recall, but my vehicle had too many miles. The defect is a manufacturer's defect, not one of my own doing. Nissan will not stand behind their vehicles. Please investigate this matter. There are alot of people dealing with the same thing.
Vehicle starts to jerk, vibrate, and has power inturruption during acceleration, on inclines and while towing. Transmission shop told me it was due to bad coolent lines in transmission and transmission needs to be replaced at a cost of $7000 by Nissan dealership.
I was pulling out into oncoming traffic when my car lost power and wouldn't move . The transmission bucked and kicked back in and I was able to drive . I brought vehicle to my mechanic the next day and he found the radiator coolant was in my transmission . After further look he found coolant line was were leaking into transmission which had caused failure . My vehicle is past the Nissan warranty because of miles but this is a continuing problem on all Nissan SUV's made in these time frames . This isn't a warranty issue, it is a recall issue . Nissan needs to stand up for their mistake and submit a recall.
My 2008 Nissan Pathfinder has a radiator that failed causing engine coolant to mix with the automatic transmission fluid thus causing a total failure of my transmission. In researching after the failure I have found this is a very common problem with Nissan Pathfinders, frontiers, and exteras from 2005-2008. It is to the point where people have taken the transmission line out of the coolant system loop prior to the radiator failing in attempt to save the transmission from the inevitable failure. These radiators need to be recalled to prevent another transmission from total failure and thus prevent serious accidents resulting in injury or death in the future. This is a safety concern! in my instance while driving my wife and my 7 day old first born son to his doctors appointment my Nissan Pathfinder began to hesitate and slip, then catch, and slip, and lock up, and jerk, and then only slip. I was forced to push my vehicle a distance while vehicles proceeded to pass me at a high rate of speed. All the while my wife and 7 day old infant inside. I then needed to have my car towed to the dealership. After calling the Nissan dealership I was told that is fairly common and they were not surprised. 2005-2008 Nissan Pathfinders, exteras, and frontiers have faulty radiators that are causing catastrophic failure to the transmission and are extremely unsafe for the passengers of these vehicles. Does someone have to die before Nissan admits to and fixes this avoidable problem?! this is very common knowledge for all transmission repair shops as well as Nissan dealerships.

In February of 2013, my 2008 Nissan Pathfinder started viberating and shaking while driving at a low speed of 40 mph. At first I thought it was rough road but it coutinued and got worse. The SUV slips alot and it jerks forward even when I brake. It has become scary to drive, but it is our familys only car. I need something safe to transport my young kids in and this definately is not a safe car. I took the SUV to the dealership and they said that the transmission is bad do to a faulty radiatior and that both needed to be replaced but since I was barely over 80k miles I would have to pay $2500. I did research and found that this is a common problem on Nissans part and that many people have been affected by this issue. I bought the SUV in 2010 as a certified pre-owned that already had 48k miles on it. I also have a 84 month/100k miles limited warrenty on the car that covers the transmission, but I was told that this warrenty would not cover my transmission since my transmission was damaged by Nissan's faulty radiator. This makes no sense at all. Nissan is the worst!.
Radiator leaked into the transmission, both will need to be replaced $4500-4800 fix.
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle jerked. The failure occurred constantly when attempting to accelerate over 40 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the radiator and transmission would have to be replaced. The VIN was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.
My car started making a jutter type sound when I would be going approximately 40 mph and would cause my car to rumble like I was going over a rumble strip. The car would lose acceleration when this would happen.
My 2008 Nissan Pathfinder suddenly stopped while driving. I had it towed to the dealer and they said that the radiator cracked and fluid got into the transmission. There were no signs that jy car was having any problem prior to this. Because my car is 1000 miles out of warranty they refuse to warranty it even though this is q known problem. My car is leased and I can not turn it in until I have it in working condition. In order to fix it the dealer wants to charge me $9,000.
