Hood flutters going down the highway. Has been previously adjusted under safety recall. Not repaired completely by dealership. Cvt transmission judder. Has been reprogrammed by dealership, did not repair problem. Bands now slipping and out of mileage warranty. Occupant sensor for airbag previously repaired by dealership. Still does not work. Replaced cushion. Still not repaired. Dealership refuses to repair. Liftgate scratches roof when opening. Dealership said the liftgate has a code. Brandon Nissan in brandon florida. Will not repair any of the technical service bulletins on this vehicle.
The light indicating the passenger airbag was disabled came on one day and never went off, indicating the passenger airbag was never enabled, even if an adult was sitting in the front passenger seat. First time to the dealership for this issue, they "cleared the codes" and told me to come back if it happened again. It happened again immediately upon starting the vehicle to depart from the dealership. Second visit to the dealership had me replace the airbag control module/diagnosis unit (to the tune of over $1,100 total parts/labor/tax) because the light would not go off even when reset, and it was not "throwing any codes. " I was told something else could still be wrong, but with this unit replaced, it would provide the "codes" for whatever else may require repair. However, once this part was replaced, the problem persisted. Dealership then said the "next step" is to replace 2 airbag sensors and another related unit (another ~$600). If the light is still on after that, they just keep going down the list of airbag system parts to replace until they finally fix the issue. Basically, no one knows what's really wrong, so we'll just keep replacing parts that probably don't actually need to be replaced until we finally reach the one that does. Apparently, this is how Nissan repairs their airbag systems (which a quick online search indicates they have plenty of issues with). The airbag diagnosis unit clearly doesn't actually "diagnose" anything. Meanwhile, I am at their mercy because an airbag issue is cause for state inspection failure and is obviously a major safety concern.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder sv. The contact stated that while stationary and driving various speeds, the vehicle experienced a series of failures since March of 2017. The contact stated that the rear brake light system failed to illuminated properly. When the brakes were applied, the vehicle vibrated and shook violently on several occasions. The contact stated that the passenger air bag occupant detection light failed to illuminate and the contact stated that the light was inoperative. Furthermore, the contact reported that the increased stopping distance related sensor failed, along with the abs wheel sensor. The contact expressed concerns that the power windows independently rolled up and down, the back-hp camera disabled and rotated by in the reverse position and the key fob sensor intermittently failed to perform as intended. An independent mechanic replaced the throttle body position sensor. The failure recurred. Baytown Nissan - 5445 I-10, baytown, texas 77521 (281) 394-1995 - was made aware of the series of failures. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the series of failures and provided the contact with case number: 33384799. In addition, the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 68,000. Ad.
"passenger airbag off" light on when a person weighing 100lbs or more on the seat. Took it in to Nissan and claim that maybe the person was not sitting correctly or needed to shift their hips in seat. Also fixed a sensor or part on the underside of seat. Corrected problem for a little while, now the same thing is happening and the light on the dashboard for "airbag warning" is flashing. This happens at all times, when vehicle in motion and stopped and parked, etc.
Airbag sensor recall - part was ordered July 7, 2016. At time sensors appeared to be working. As of August 16th, sensors no longer sensing weight in passenger seat, no longer working. Nissan refusing to provide equivalent long term loaner and dealership (luther Nissan kia, inver grove heights) also refusing to provide equivalent sized loaner (family needs 3rd row) contacted Nissan regional specialist justin - he said there is nothing Nissan is willing to do (supply part sooner or loaner). Have also escalated to mn attorney generals office. Have also escalated to Nissan executive office (raven), but so far only playing phone tag with. Need assistance with Nissan so that my passenger has an airbag. At times not able to drive vehicle when passenger needs to accompany. Request equivalent sized loaner until parts/repair completed on owned vehicle as well as airbag sensor in working condition after repair. Nissan company portrayed a "we don't care" attitude and wouldn't allow comments to be made "on record" or recorded.
I have a recurring problem with the front passenger seat airbag sensor light staying on when someone is in the seat. I have taken the car to the dealer five times since I have owned it. Even after the mandatory recalls the problem sporadically still exists. Sometimes the light stays on briefly and other times it stays on up to thirty minutes. I never get a good explanation by the service department other than we checked or adjusted the sensor. After three years I think it is time Nissan steps up and fixes the problem properly. It appears the dealerships cannot do anything without the cooperation of Nissan corporate or government action. It does no good complaining to the service personnel. I feel this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed again.
The airbag sensor randomly does not detect a full size adult in the front passenger seat and therefore shuts off the air bag. This has happened on many occasions and these are full grown adults sitting in the front passenger seat. This SUV has been in for a recall o n this sensor, but that still did not resolve the issue. I have attached a picture taken on 10/9/2015, showing the airbag shutoff light illuminated, with a full grown male passenger sitting in the front passenger seat.
Passenger air bag sensor again not functioning properly. It was repaired by Nissan after first recall.
I am filing a complaint about my Nissan 2013 Pathfinder, the passenger airbag sensor indicates that it is off when my 8 month pregnant wife is sitting in the passenger seat. I have taken this to my local Nissan dealership, beau townsend Nissan in vandalia, ohio, twice and the service representative said it is nothing to worry about unless the sensor on the instrument panel display shows the airbag is off. I have been concerned about this for my wife's safety being pregnant when she is in the passenger seat. I feel this is something that needs to be addressed and taken care of immediately. The dealership has no interest in figuring out this problem beyond telling me that it is no big deal.
My vehicle was recalled by Nissan for the airbag sensor failing to recognize when there is a passenger occupying the passenger seat, the recall was supposed to fix the error in the sensor. However, after they "fixed the problem," the sensor continues to indicate there is no passenger in the passenger seat while occupied, and the air bag is not turned on. When I inquired about this the most recent time the vehicle was in for service at the dealership (Nissan of omaha), they told me that the problem had been fixed, and even if it indicates the airbag is turned off, it is actually on. Not only did they fail to fix this safety problem, but they also lied about it working! this is very deceitful, and could be a major liability issue and lawsuit down the road.
The passenger airbag system is faulty even after being 'fixed' per ntb14-027. Our truck has been at the dealer 3 times for the same problem, though we've had the issue more times than we've brought it in. We have several videos and pictures of this problem. The airbag sensor will illuminate despite a passenger weighing over 120lbs in the seat. And other times the sensor will not come on as it should when a child is sitting in the seat - we did this as a test without driving and the light would not come on. I just don't know if the airbag is actually going to work in the case of an accident.
My Pathfinder was recalled (14v-138) to fix the occupant classification system. I took the car in and it was "fixed. " when my wife, who weighs about 112 pounds, sits in the right seat, the light comes on indicating that air bag is turned off. I called the dealer (abc Nissan in phoenix) and they said that the system is designed to turn the air bag off unless the occupant weighs more that 110 pounds. That puts my wife in jeopardy in the event of a head-on collision. I was told that there is nothing that they can do - the sensor cannot be turned off and the weight limit cannot be changed. Why should my wife's life be jeopardized to protect idiots who put small children in the front seat? if they want to put a limit on the weight, it should be around 50 pounds. If I am in an accident and my wife is injured, I guarantee that I will sue Nissan and ntsa for millions.
In may 2014, there was a NHTSA recall(14v-138) for the OCS system that "in the affected vehicles, the OCS software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty when it is occupied by an adult. " as a result of this safety issue, the possibility of failure of the airbag to deploy increases the risk of injury to the passenger. My Nissan Pathfinder, purchased June 2013 at airport Nissan in cleveland, OH, was serviced for this recall in June 2014; however, the safety issue was not resolved by the software reprogramming and this issue continues in my vehicle to this day. My car has been in for service 9 times related to this issue as this safety concern was reported before the recall was issued, first reported February 2014. The airport Nissan service dept has replaced the airbag control unit, replaced the seat frame, replaced both sensors, ensured proper torqueing and completed zero point calibrations per the service write ups and direction of Nissan corporate. A complaint was filed with Nissan north America and Nissan regional diagnostic troubleshooter, bill mcray was sent to test my vehicle. The issue could not be reproduced during testing and no codes showed on the system. However, I have video of the light on while a passenger is in the seat from early 2014 up to July 2, 1015. Nissan consumer affairs dept ruled that they were not in a position to buy back my car and because my car is still in warranty, they would not offer assistance in purchasing a new Pathfinder; even though they have not offered any other possible solutions to fix the safety concern. A certified letter was sent June 17, 2015, requesting assistance, to Nissan north America - mr. Fred diaz, sr. Vp sales & marketing and operations, and mr. Jose munoz, executive vp, with an email copy also sent. A follow up phone call to the executive line was made June 30, 2015 with still no response received.
I noticed that occasionally when I was driving and my wife was in the passenger seat that the "front passenger air bag status light" was indicating "off. " the problem happened with other passengers as well. Several times while this was happening I drove to the nearby Nissan dealership and pulled into the service bay. A few seconds after I came to a stop and before a service representative could come over the light went off. I returned the Pathfinder several times for repair including the recall. The problem persisted. The service manager had a dealer technical specialist (dts) look at the car. The dts said that when the vehicle is started the sensors determine if there is a child in the seat and "classifies" this to the air bag control module. There are 3 conditions that can be "classified" - empty, child, and adult. When the gear shift lever is moved from park the status ("classification") at that instant is retained. Subsequently if the vehicle comes to a complete stop (regardless of gear selection) for several seconds then this "classification" is repeated. The dts and the service manager were able to "manipulate" the car to leave the air bag status light displaying off by putting a partial load in the passenger seat and then moving the gear shift from park to reverse and subsequently to drive. The light would continue to display off until they let the car come to a complete stop for several seconds. They concluded that this "manipulation" was what was happening when my wife and other passengers were in the passenger seat. This is a characteristic of the algorithm of the air bag control module. It is related to the changes made by the recall but not the specific situation. The dts then said that this was "normal" and couldn't be repaired. This is like the steve jobs' "you're holding it wrong" comment but with my passenger's safety.
The airbag sensor light comes on when my wife (130 lbs) is in the passenger seat. It was taken to the dealership and there was apparently a recall. This did not remedy the situation, as it occurred again several times. It was taken back to the dealership and they did a reprogram, yet again. The problem is the occupant sensor, I was told. Again, it has continued to happen. I called again and they were really great and got me in the next day. They said that some of the vehicles just didn't take to the reprogram for some reason. It was fine for a while, but then just this past week it has started coming on again. This significantly jeopardizes the safety of the person in the passenger seat if there is ever to be an accident. This vehicle was purchased brand new and currently has around 6500 miles on it. The other concern will be down the road when I would sell it. The problems represent an inherent breach of implied warranty and therefor have damaged the reputation and value of my vehicle.
Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously take for the repaired on NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v244000, 13v069000 and 15v681000 (air bags) and14v138000 (electrical system, air bags) at Nissan of huntington dealer, (850 e jericho turnpike, huntington station, NY 11746, (631) 533-4888) where the technician inspected the vehicle and on one of the recall the technician reprogram the air bag module control unit. The contact stated that the technician never actually replaced the sensors. However, the vehicle was taken to the same dealer six times for the same failure that the work was never performed satisfactory. And now the contact had to pay for the repair of both sensor and module. The contact stated that the vehicle was in the process of repairing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number: 37582283. The failure mileage was approximately 2,013. Aw.
I got a recall paper for the passenger air bag sensor, when I took it in to get it fixed they tested it and said it was fine. The light still comes on with no one in the seat. Then the fuel gauge where it tells you how many miles till empty showed nothing but 3 lines for 2 days and I was told that this in not an issue for this year and nothing was done. Now the brakes will go to the floor more when being pressed and the vehicle will start rolling so you have to push harder on the brakes. Just yesterday the mileage that is suppose to be moving while driving to show how many mpg you are getting went all the way up and stayed there the whole time I drove. There is no way I was getting like 50 miles per gallon going 45mph. I try to get my vehicle in to the Nissan dealer where I got it from in las cruces, nm and I keep not getting answers or more excused of what is not wrong with my vehicle. How do they know they are not driving it? I am very unhappy and will be changing vehicles soon!.
Air bag sensor in passenger seat does not detect a person at all times. My daughter weighs 120 and it will not detect her when she is in the vehicle.
Passenger airbag off light has came on several time in the year plus I have owed my 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. Re programming has been done twice on computer software and both driver and passenger sensors have been replaced and the same day the airbag off light came on twice. Will notify dealer tomorrow.
The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. While operating the vehicle with a normal sized adult person in the front passenger seat, the air bag off sensor illuminated. The dealer replaced a seat sensor, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60.
The airbag and vehicle occupancy sensor failure. The passenger side seat belt sign would remain on despite an empty passenger seat. The light has remained on since the 1st day of purchase. The vehicle has been in service department for 10 days without complete resolution. Nissan USA has been contacted as well.
Air bag sensor light comes on and stays on.
I brought the car on 6/14/13 to get the faulty air bag sensor done at the Nissan dealership only to waste our time since they told me that "there was no recall on my VIN and that everything was working fine. " I explained again that the air bag off light would stay on when kids or my wife would seat on it. They said "it is a known glitch" but that everything works fine and "I should not worry about it. " I contacted Nissan immediately. I spoke to Nissan costumer affairs "wesley" who said that would look into this to get the issue resolved. He also stated that he would contact the white plains dealer. Sounded great. He call me on 6/17/13 to tell me that indeed the dealer "did everything, they were supposed to do" and since there was no recall on my VIN - than everything was ok. This is hysterical. I had actually received an email directly from Nissan USA on 6/15/13 stating that "a review of our records indicates that the vehicle with the vehicle serial number listed above is involved in the recall as follows: occupant classification system (OCS) sensor. Please contact your Nissan dealership for an appointment to have the recall repairs performed on your vehicle. These repairs are free of charge to you. " he first sounded confused but then he proceeded to explain (as the dealership) that "if someone between 90 and 120 pounds sit on the passenger side - the light weight might not trigger the sensor. " I asked him where I would be able to find this technical information in the owner's manual. He said that it would not be there. And what about the recall letter? I asked him if he could provided an official letter stating that indeed the air bag sensor light off is not an issue and/or a safety concern. Naturally, he replied that he could not provide such a letter. End of story, my lawyer-wife will now send a formal legal letter to file a complain with Nissan.
