1 Cruise Control problem of the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/04/2021

Aeb (automatic emergency braking) light randomly comes which means aeb function has been turned off. This action disables intelligent cruise control which relies on aeb to automatically slow the car if it encounters a slower vehicle ahead. Only had the car a week or so, bought used with 40,000 miles on it from enterprise car rental. Reading the web indicates this could be an issue if you are driving with cruise control enabled and then cruise control is randomly turned off due to faulty (bosch?) radar sensor. Vehicles with aeb should have a means to turn aeb off without disabling features such as cruise control. Cruise control feature is pretty standard and has been around for years. Should not disable it simply due to new governmental safety requirements.

2 Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/02/2019

While driving with the cruise control on going 72 mph the Feb front emergency braking shut off and caused the cruise control to kick off almost causing a wreck due to the sudden decrease in speed the car behind me almost rear ended me. There is no way to disable the Feb and still use cruise control.

3 Cruise Control problem of the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/17/2019

While coming to a stop brake pedal will fade causing the pedal to touch the floor and forcing the driver to release and reapply brakes. Also while using cruise control on the highway, the vehicle begins to rapidly accelerate and DE-accelerate causing a jerking motion.

4 Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 05/23/2019

Front radar modular intermittently unavailable. Article found stating Nissan was working on a fix, is it available yet? 2 dealership service departments and an agent at Nissan USA knew nothing about it. While driving with the intelligent cruise control on, suddenly it shuts off and a message on screen states, unavailable front radar obstruction. 2-15 minutes later it allows start up again. This seems to be totally random. Happened numerous times on a 2500 mile trip.

5 Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/23/2019

The cruise control is very sluggish. Once the cruise control is set, if you are to step on the gas to get around a car quicker or if you press the cancel button, step on the gas and then resume, you have to take your foot off the gas and let your speed slow down 5 - 10 mph under what you have the cruise set for before it will engage again. I have been almost rear-ended a few times while getting the cruise to engage again. Nissan states that that is they way the cruise control is designed. Nissan's service manager had this same thing happen to him in another Nissan vehicle but not all Nissan vehicles do this.

6 Cruise Control problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

8 Cruise Control problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/17/2018

Ongoing issue for three years! please help! cruise control drops out while towing. We almost got hit by an 18 wheeler driving down the road! I had my grandson with me!! the problem I have is unresolved. After numerous attempts and messages to contact charlotte at 6157257808 over the course of at least three-four weeks, I have resolved the fact that Nissan does not care about my issue. Hence I will be contacting the bbb to get this matter resolved to my satisfaction. I am in the market for a new car and it will not be Nissan.

9 Cruise Control problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

While towing a load, the vehicle without warning dis engages the cruise control and cause a safety hazard. I almost got rear ended by an 18 wheeler!!! very dangerous and needs fixed. This happens often!.

10 Cruise Control problem of the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

While towing under the capacity of the vehicle tow specification, the vehicle dropped out of cruise control (set at 65 mph). This caused an unexpected slowdown of almost 20 mph and my family and I feared getting hit at that speed (45 in a 65 when people are driving at 75 or more). Nissan technicians witnessed this happen.

11 Cruise Control problem of the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/15/2013

I am having problems with the cruise control on my new Nissan Pathfinder 2014. 1. Cruise control intermittently disengages going down a shallow but straight road. In a 3 to 4 mile driving stretch, it will, at times, disengage 2 to 3 times. 2. The setâ and ã¢resumeâ toggle switch at times then does not re-engage the cruise control. The switch acts dead. I then have to switch off the cruise control and then switch it back on to have the toggles switch work but not always. 3. The cruise and set indicators on the instrument panel do not flicker. The Nissan dealer carried out a test run and found the cruise control disengaging exactly as stated above. They replaced part #25550-3ks1a, switch assembly-ste, to resolve the problem but it did not. They reiterate that such a condition of cruise disengagement as stated in the ownerã¢s manual is considered normal and acceptable. Having read the ownerã¢s manual, I do not find any mention of the toggle switch intermittently acting dead after disengagement of the cruise control nor the high frequency of the disengagement. This condition is causing me to concentrate more on the instrument panel rather than on the road. I am repeatedly unsure whether the cruise is engaged or not. This distraction could result in a fatal accident. It's like texting while driving. Either way, the end result would be an avoidable fatality(s). This condition clearly amounts to a road safety hazard. The manufacturer, by merely stating that the cruise may disengage driving down in hilly terrain cannot absolve itself of the responsibility for the safety of the occupants of the car. Such high frequency of cruise disengagement and toggle switch failure cannot be considered normal. More than likely a software design problem.

14 Cruise Control problem of the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/24/2001

Sudden unintended acceleration (sua) on Feb 24, 2001. After coming to a full stop with transmission in "drive" and remaining stopped for approximately five seconds, the engine speed suddenly went from idle to 5000-6000 rpm. Vehicle remained essentially stationary due to spinning tires on wet pavement and the immediate harder application of brakes, but a collision would have resulted had the pavement been dry. Engine continued to race for approximately five seconds. I set the transmission to "neutral" in reaction to the sua which may have stopped the sua or may have just been coincidental with the sua stopping on its own. I took the vehicle to the Nissan dealer in annapolis, MD on Feb 26, 2001; dealer found no stored error codes and could not duplicate the problem. Both Nissan consumer affairs and the dealer told me that nothing more could be done until dealer could repeat the sua. Nissan consumer affairs has a record of the incident, as does the dealer. This not a case of throttle/brake pedal misapplication. I suspect that the cruise control system is the cause of the sua because I rarely use cruise control when driving this vehicle. I was using cruise control for a prolonged period of time immediately before the incident approximately 25 miles/20 minutes uninterrupted. Cruise control was most likely set to on when the incident occurred but I did not think to verify this at the time of the incident. Also, and very notably, there have been two separate occasions after the sua incident where the cruise control on light was illuminated when the engine was started (cruise set light was off). The cruise control on light should be off whenever the engine is initially started. I will provide VIN upon request. I dont have the VIN available at this time. Other vehicle particulars: automatic transmission, se model.

15 Cruise Control problem of the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/25/2000

Have problems with vehicle idling. Engine revs up and tach sticks from 1500-2000 rpm almost constantly. When vehicle is in first gear it will stick and take off by it self and even speed up even though it is a manual transmission. Dealer has seen truck 4 times now and "can not" find the problem. Non dealer repair diagnosed the valve in one visit. Are there reports of any other Nissan Pathfinders or vehicles that are having this problem? it's dangerous!!!!!!.

16 Cruise Control problem of the 1998 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/29/1998

Traveling at about 55 mph in a right hand lane with the cruise control engaged, driver felt something odd in the left front of the vehicle, as if the driver-side front wheel collapsed. This was accompanied by the steering wheel turning sharply to the right and a loud "bang" under the vehicle in the vicinity of the left front suspension; the driver struggled to keep the vehicle on the road, but it was nonetheless pulled to the right, across the shoulder and into a ditch running paralllel to the road; after dropping into the ditch the vehicle continued to veer to the right and began climbing an embankment; the driver managed to pull the steering wheel hard to the left and point the vehicle back toward the road; as the vehicle moved down the embankment and back into the ditch, the front undercarriage of the vehicle bottomed out where the ditch ended at a driveway , which runs perpendicular to route 50, into a farm; the vehicle bounced back onto the road and crossed the two eastbound lanes; the driver managed to straighten the vehicle out in the center of the grass median and attempted to stop the vehicle; when applying the brakes, it was clear that they were inoperative, the pedal went completely to the floor, and as the driver glanced at the speedometer the vehicle was still traveling about 50 mph, a full quarter mile from where the incident began. Then the cruise control was still engaged, and was not being triggered "off" by application of the brakes. The steering wheel was still pulling hard to the right and the driver continued to struggle to keep the vehicle straight. But know the vehicle was starting to spin counter-clockwise, which caused the vehicle to leave the median area and spin twice ( 720 degrees ) into the oncoming traffic lanes. The vehicle finally stalled and came to rest pointing eastbound in the westbound left lane.

17 Cruise Control problem of the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/01/1997

Accellerator sticks badly! during cold starts and idle time (eg. At stop light or cruise control on) you go to press on the accellerator pedal an it's stuck. You push harder with your foot to loosen it up, and the vehicle will jerk and lurch forward badly. I've had 3 (three) Nissan Pathfinders, all different model years with the same problem. 1987, 1992 and 1997 all the same problem! Nissan suggests you repair by a clutch assembly kit, which costs $200+ installed. But if this is a known problem, in all Nissan vehicles, why don't they solve this problem permanently??? any ideas or help, contact lpedo@WI. Rr. Com - thank you!.

18 Cruise Control problem of the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder

Summary of the incident: it was a near-miracle that no one was injured from this scary experience during the rush hour lasting over a mile or loner stretch for many minutes. The car had unusual, uncontrollable, and very dangerous behavior without any warning. This situation was so bad that it almost collided with a few other cars at very high speeds. Events:(1) while entering highway ramp, gradually accelerating (with speed around 30 to 35 mph), the engine hesitates. Almost immediately, the engine suddenly roared and accelerated by itself with the car quickly gained speed above 55mph - without applying any gas paddle. No cruise control was used or turned on. The driver tried to apply service-brake but the brake was very stiff without any response even with extra effort. The driver noticed the engine was at 6000rpm. (2) the driver immediately tried to shift the gear to neutral. Though the shift-lever-position did enter the "neutral" indication, the transmission mechanism still stayed at the "drive" and the engine continued to accelerate and gaining speed. (the driver continued to use service-brake all the time to no avail. )(3) the driver tried to slow the car down by shifting to a lower gear ("2"), the car speed slowed down very gradually. At that time, the driver applied emergency hand-brake. (4) eventually the car stopped using the hand-brake. Right after this, the driver shifted the lever to "park" then the engine suddenly (and immediately) shot up to 6000rpm again - and the transmission appeared to re-engage and moved the car forward with a very loud noise. The driver immediately turned-off the ignition to stop the car. The car was towed to a Nissan dealer.
