42 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

Fuel gauge does not register correctly, have no way of knowing how much fuel in vehicle, causes sensor light to show up, and car will not pass inspection, there was a recall on this, but as others have stated mine wasn't one of them. Also had problem with transmission on this care, which again mine wasn't one of them, but we had a 100,000 mile warranty provided by the dealer on this. If really seems to me, how do they know what Nissans are defective, and what ones aren't if the problem is happening to so many of us. We had Nissans since 2000, but no longer and never again. I gave this vehicle to my son, and now he has to pay for the repair, as car will not pass inspection.

45 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/14/2012

2006 Nissan Pathfinder 103k miles. We noticed vehicle would shudder upon acceleration at approximately 40 mph and again at 50 mph. Also at times the engine would rev up like it couldn't shift to the next gear. If we slowed down to 50 and re-accelerated to 55 mph, the shuddering became a severe vibration. We took it to an independent mechanic since we had recently a bad experience with our local Nissan dealer in fixing another problem (timing chain). The mechanic dropped the transmission pan and found the radiator was leaking coolant into the transmission fluid. Mechanic stated we were very lucky to have caught this right away as it could have caused a lot of other problems too lengthy to mention here. Mechanic replaced radiator and did a tranny flush but I'm not sure our problems are over. Now the fuel gauge registers empty after I have just filled up with fuel, the service engine light came on, and now I am totally stressed out driving anywhere, and especially in traffic.

47 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/11/2012

The fuel gauge stopped working over a year and a half ago. When we contacted the dealer they never told us about the extended warranty. They quoted a price that we, a military family could not afford, and that was it. Then last year, a shuddering began. We took it to the dealer and spent almost $800. They flushed the transmission, but the shuddering only got worse. When I took the car in they informed me that the radiator fluid leaked into the transmission and now both need to be replaced. I called Nissan and they basically said that its my problem!! I have been in tears since. My husband is in afghanistan fighting for his country. He worked hard and paid the car off 2 months ago and now this. He is so worried about us being stranded when his focus should be on what's happening there. We don't have $8000 to spend on a car that we just paid off and that should be in top form.

51 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 05/16/2012

My 2006 Nissan Pathfinder had been having fuel gauge problems for several weeks. Finally after the annoyance became too much, we took it to the Nissan dealer. We were told that there was a known problem with the fuel gauge assembly that involved a recall. Unfortunately for us, we missed the recall by less than four months. My complaint is that Nissan knew there was a problem, then arbitrarily chose a date when the recall would end that would satisfy the NHTSA, but not fully cover the period when this problem could arise. Limiting this recall by date can prove to be extremely prejudicial to the customer that purchases the vehicle later in the year; for example, purchasing the car in November 2006 versus January 2006 would place the consumer at an eleven month disadvantage.

52 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/27/2012

Now my vehicle will not pass state inspection due to faulty fuel sending unit - the faulty fuel send unit cause check engine light to stay on and does not properly show fuel level in vehicle if a vehicle can not pass inspection, due to a faulty manufacturer part under voluntary recall info from Nissan website Nissan fuel sending unit warranty extension Nissan has extended the Nissan new vehicle limited warranty for the fuel sending unit on certain Nissan frontier, Pathfinder, and xterra models. Nissan is extending your vehicle's new vehicle limited warranty as it applies to the fuel gauge sending unit from 36 months 36,000 miles to 72 months 72,000 miles. Please note that this is not a safety recall, and there are no safety issues relating to your fuel sending unit shouldn't this be considered a safety recall (faulty fuel gauge) - it definitely has nothing to do with emissions? Nissan has not provided any assistance and has even refused partial compensation for this repair over $350 to fix any advice on how to drivers/consumers like myself?? I will have to foot the billl to be in compliance with ncdmv rules without any recourse against Nissan - failure due to known faulty Nissan part/design seems unfair! I have been chasing this for over a year! last year light was intermittent when it first occurred - now it stays on full time. Can Nissan be forced to make this a safety recall?? since my vehicle will no tpass local saftety.

53 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

Known issue with fuel system (NHTSA id # 10v075000) Nissan acknowledges problems but put mileage limit on dealer paid repair. (approximately 1300 miles over) apparently defective manufacture issues have time limits regardless of safety issue associated with this. Intermittent problems caused delays in identifying this issue. This is a major safety issue that should not have been timetabled, inaccurate and then failure of the fuel gauge. This is a failure of both Nissan and the NHTSA to allow mileage to be the determining factor in limiting our safety.

54 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/19/2012

(2007 Pathfinder) the fuel sending unit failed and the fuel gauge led me to believe I had gas when in fact I was empty. I ran out of gas in a busy intersection and I was almost hit by a large dump truck. My 5 year old and my 4 month old were in the 2007 Pathfinder. Would if the dump truck driver was not paying attention, me and my children would definitely be dead.

55 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Many instances of the car jerking, jerking forward when trying to slow down or stop. The rpm reving up to dangerous levels for no reason and trouble driving uphill. My car has become a major safety issue. First the fuel gauge stopped working, which caused me to run out of gas and stalling in the middle of an intersection. Next, my car stalled for no reason while driving, that was repaired, something to do with a relay switch, now the transmission issues, possible radiator failure and the need of a new catalytic convertor in a car with 100k miles. . . . That's insane !!! someone is going to be seriously hurt or killed if they don't fix these vehicles and people don't have thousands of dollars laying around to fix it. So, no food, rent or bills being paid for over a month just to pay for repairs is even more of a hardship to families. Please help us before something happens. Thanks !!!.

2005 Nissan Pathfinder faulty fuel gauge. Showed half full, vehicle stalled in roadway. Gauge fluctuates. Shows full, then empty. Check engine light on. . . Brought to dealer advised 'fuel sender' unit code error. After researching on the internet, discovered a recall for years 2006 and newer. Very concerned the recall #10v-075 did not cover 2005 years. I am very frustrated due to the safety issue of my vehicle running out of gas due to a Nissan faulty fuel gauge/sending unit. 2005 Pathfinder appears to be one of the worst reliable years Nissan has produced the Pathfinder. . . . . But 2005 was not part of the recall??? why?.
