37 Steering problem of the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/09/2019

We have had our car into the dealer 9 times since June 2018. They have been replacing the cruise control sensors and the car started pulling to the right very hard. We have worked thru the dealer, the corporate headquarters, contacted the bbb auto and have an open account there. We got our car back yesterday and took it for a long ride on highway 95 north this afternoon and for 100 miles the car kept pulling to the right and then to the left and continued for every mile. We turned off onto a 3 lane road and were going slower and it went across all three lanes each way, left and right. I took video while my husband drove. It is a very dangerous situation. We were entering the highway via a cloverleaf turn and the car almost ran into the guardrail. We contacted the dealership at 3:30 and they told us they were closing soon so we could not bring the car in. They said an expert from Nissan corporate said the car worked just fine. My husband says its not tires, the steering is binding and he has advised me not to drive the car. We asked to have an appointment for Monday but they said the manager charlie had been made aware of the issue and would talk on Monday. I emailed the corporate person but it is Saturday. We have decided to file this complaint as it could be happening all over.

And 2 compressed disks in my back. . When I realized my truck wasnt turning into the curve I hit my brakes but it didnt do anything bc my tires came off the ground and when it stopped I was on the creek bank.

The 01 thru 04 Pathfinder has some kind of rear suspension flaw. The online forums call it a death sway and I agree. It is beyond me why this has not been recalled as of yet. If you have sometime I would love to take you on a ride because I know that something would get done after riding with this problem. Thanks.

58 Steering problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/27/2015

This is the same as another complaint (# 10777718) filed through this site on 9/25. I took my truck in because of the service engine check light and the tech reported catalytic converter, heater hose vacuum & valve, power steering hose, and tire gps. We have taken the truck in for the 3rd winter season and now they are saying it cost $725 dollars to repair the issue. For 3 years we have taken it in and they flushed the system, replace a sensor, and now this? also the catalytic converter costing $1380 and power steering hose at $305. I noticed 4 recalls that we were never contacted about with the engine, and we have taken the truck in numerous times for these issues and they never mentioned the recalls. Our issue with the catalytic converter is exactly the same as the above mentioned issue filed in September. We also purchased an extended warranty, and none of this is covered. I wonder who else is having the same issue with the catalytic converter?.

59 Steering problem of the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/17/2015

The strut tower repair that was made by Nissan in 09/2011 as part of NHTSA recall campaign #11v24000 (strut tower corrosion recall because of salt in new england states) failed on 8/17/2015. As a direct result of the structural failure in the passenger side strut tower, the break-line severed causing an immediate breaking failure, and also made the car unsafe to drive because of the structural failure which exposed the engine compartment to the interior wheel well. As of 8/26/2015, Nissan USA consumer affairs div. Refused to pay for the $1,300 in repairs (parts & labor) stating that they were not responsible to make additional repairs to correct the original recall notice because the vehicle is more than 8 years old, and they already fixed it as as a level 1 repair as required under the recall. They did't care that their repair was only 4 years old and that the vehicle had a visual/safety inspection performed by a Nissan dealer less than a year ago when the vehicle was recalled to replace the air bags.

60 Steering problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/16/2015

Vehicle stalled on highway/ was almost hit by tractor trailer.

61 Steering problem of the 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/24/2015

Brakes failed. Took car to mechanic to repair 7/24/15. Mechanic replaced brake line and bled system but recommended we contact Nissan regarding severe corrosion in the right front strut housing area. The inner fender had pulled away causing the broken brake line. We were unaware of the extent of the corrosion until our mechanic pointed it out to us. We have photos of the area. We took the car to great neck Nissan on 9/2/15. After inspecting the car, they informed us that campaign #11v-244 would be repaired and that it had been previously repaired in 2011 at star Nissan of bayside, NY. The dealership had our vehicle from 9/2/15 until 9/9/15. On 9/8/15 they informed us that the car had additional front end issues that we would be responsible for, however, these issues would not have been a factor had the strut housing tower not been so severely defective. We had to tow our car home from the dealership because it had no brakes and was unsafe. The car is now sitting in our driveway unusable. We drove the car to the dealership and cannot drive it now (after campaign repair). Our mechanic inspected the repair and found the abs box not secured (bolt missing). The abs box moves substantially, it is supposed to be bolted to the top of the strut tower but it is not. In addition, the right front strut is leaking which is a direct result of the campaign issue. The left front sway bar link is broken due to the stress of the right front strut housing issue. We now have a vehicle that we cannot use that is otherwise in good condition. We have tried to resolve these issues with the dealership as well as with Nissan consumer affairs regional specialist but we were told that all associated issues are at the dealership's discretion. The dealership wants to charge us two hours labor to inspect the brakes but still deny the brake and suspension issues are related to the campaign.

62 Steering problem of the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

Driving truck got so bad it was hard to keep in road. . Would go side to side on highway and turns were not easy to say in lane. Took to clarktire CO . . They replaced lots of parts and said mounts for shocks and struts were pretty badly rusted causing excessive movement of those.

63 Steering problem of the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/08/2015

Vehicle was being driven at about 30 mph and the steering wheel got loose and unresponsive. Car started to swerve onto oncoming traffic so it was stopped in the middle of the intersection. Frame strut cover came loose due to corrosion and broke intermediate steering shaft.

64 Steering problem of the 1996 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/06/2015

I bought this car a couple years ago and couldn't drive it right away because I bought it a little before I got my license. So eventually when I got it on the road I ended up getting a rejection sticker because the e break and a few other reasons. One thing I've noticed about my s. U. V is the wind shield wipers work when they want to. The whole underneath is rotted out, (that's what the guy told me who inspected my car) an ever since I've had it, I've had a problem with my steering, I've tried the power steering fluid didn't work. I'm not positive that there was a recall, but I was refered to this so I'm trying to see what I can do if I can do anything.

65 Steering problem of the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 05/06/2015

Inner wheel well area rotting, near the strut mont.

66 Steering problem of the 2000 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/29/2015

My Pathfinder was fixed for recall r1107 strut tower corrosion salt about 18,000 miles ago. The exact same issue came back and they said because it was already addressed they will not revisit it. This is insane. I could understand if it was from other causes, but if their "repair" did not truly repair it, how it it ok to say it was fixed? I've had cars 3 times the age of this one never have frame rust issues. This is a huge disappointment that Nissan just does not care.

67 Steering problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/09/2015

Steering wheel all of a sudden became very difficult to turn regularly when driving/turning. Very difficult to turn in reverse. After doing some searching online it seems that their are several other vehicles recently experiencing the same issue. Please investigate this issue before someone gets hurt.

68 Steering problem of the 1998 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 04/05/2015

Driving down the hwy and SUV started rocking back and forth side to side severely. . I had to brake fast . . Then when I accelerated it wobbled worse. . . I thought I was going to roll. . . Could not go over 30. . . Very dangerous and scary. . . I looked it up on forums to see if anyone else has had this problem. . . . Everybody that owns them has had this experience at all different mileages. . They refer to it as the "death wobble" online. . . Millions of vehicles have this problem from faulty bushings and trailing arms. . . . Yet they "Nissan" refuse to recall or pay to fix it. . . Here is "nissans" bulletin I found after researching online. . . . They should be paying for this and there should be a recall. . . I hope that this gets some attention before someone gets killed service bulletin classification: ra97-002 reference: ntb98-001 date: April 1, 1998 Pathfinder vehicle pull and front/rear suspension excessive play applied vehicle: 1996-98 Pathfinder (r50) applied VIN: vehicles built before jn8ar05y*ww256932 service information if a 1996-98 Pathfinder exhibits the following conditions, the cause may be from worn bushing(s) in the rear suspension upper and/or lower links. * excessive play in the rear axle especially during moderate acceleration or deceleration. * vehicle pulling at a constant speed * excessive sway and rocking motion in the front suspension when coming to a stop.

69 Steering problem of the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/08/2015

I purchased this vehicle used. We did not go over 40 on the the test drive. The next day once we approached 55 mph the rear of the vehicle began to violently wobble back and forth. We decided to research the issue and tons of complaints were cited about the same"death wobble" issue. We had done and alignment, rotated and balanced the tires and it helped slightly but the wobble is still there. It seems there is a problem with the rear bushings and /or control arms. From what I have read. Why has this not been recalled with the hundreds of complaints? we have not priced it out but seems to be a costly fix.

70 Steering problem of the 2000 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 02/05/2015

I took my vehicle for a recall free of charge. The Nissan dealer said that they cannot repait it because it is too expensive and the card does not worth it. They refuse to give my car back because they said by the law they cannot give it back without repair it. It has been 2 weeks already. They screwed everything because I need my car to work. They told me that I can have a car but I need to pay 20 dollars daily. It is that acceptable. Why they refuse to give me my car back. I had drove my car for more than 8 years without any problem. I give maintenance to my car really well and just bought new tires. I am very upset about it. How long it will take to resolve it. I do not need money for my car I need my car back because I need it. I have to loan a car from my cousin to go to work and dropped my child to school.
