Engine would suddenly cut off while in motion at 25-35 miles per hour. Two repairs were necessary at a cost of approximately $500 to get the problem repaired. The problem was that both the front and rear crank shaft sensors had to be replaced. As for the seat problem, one of the release levers broke off completely. I have not yet had it repaired so I do not have a cost for this repair. I have to use pliers to release the lever.
Nissan Quest cluster loses ability to moniter fuel and temperature , which caused me to run out of fuel while travelling at a speed of 55mph. After researching online I see there is a repair but how does the dealer not see an issue with this problem. The lcd screen essentially peel away from the screen due to heat or humidity . I see this as a danger and I feel it puts my family along with others in danger .
While driving the slip and tcs warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel as the car suddenly shuts off. It recurred several times. The vehicle was diagnosed by autozone and reads error code p0340. As a result the camshaft sensor was replaced but the problem still exists.
Over the last 6 months, the transmission in our 2004 Quest has slipped out of gear while driving down the road. This has caused a safety concern for my wife as traffic mounts around us.

Van makes a rattle when rpm's are lower than 3000. It's the timing chain as I was told by a mechanic.

I own a 2004 Nissan Quest. I recently had to replace the timing chain at a cost of $1500. 00. I am quite angry about this since I have recently found out that many other owners are also experiencing the same problem with the Quest. This is an issue Nissan should have recalled the car for. I was told hat if this chain had broken while I was drivng, it could cause teh the engine tro seize. Well that is just great to know that I hand my daughter the keys to this car and they could have been killed. Is that what you are waiting for. . Someone to die before you realize how big a problem this is? I have also read that other makes of Nissan are also experiencing this problem. Nisssan should be held responsible for this repair. I have always purchased Nissan, but with these kind of costly repairs and dangerous issue at hand, I will definately choose another maker if Nissan does not come forward with a recall and reinburse those of us that have already had pay for these costly repairs. I am very disapointed with Nissan, since I am sure they are aware of this problem and have done nothing about it.
My 2004 Nissan Quest se caught on fire and was totaled. The vehicle has been acting strange and 5 days prior to the fire was the last day I drove it. It would not crank after I put it in the garage and so I was going to have it towed to the Nissan dealer the next week. It was not touched after that day until we were awoke by our smoke alarms. We opened our garage door as it was the nearest exit only to realize the fire was in the garage. When we went outside around to the garage we saw that the fire was coming from under the hood of the van out the windshield and passenger side front tire.
My Nissan Quest stops while driving . . .
On my 2004 Nissan Quest, the camshaft position sensor failed on my vehicle in the middle of traffic causing my car to cut off completely. This almost caused 2 accidents before I could steer the car off the road.
I have had nothing but problems, both big and small, with my brand new Nissan Quest se. I can almost deal with the sqeaks, rattles, broken buttons, broken lights, malfunctioning sensors, radio problems, and malfunctioning slider doors, but the problem I cannot accept is the failure of the car to run during damp or cold days. The car cranks and starts after a few attempts, but when it is put into drive it either lags as if it's running out of fuel, or dies completely. This has happened on at least 8 occassions, 2 of which I had to call a tow truck because I could not restart the car. Unfortunately, my dealership cannot replicate the problem so nothing has been done. Meanwhile, I never know if my car will run on these days, I have even been forced to walk down the street in below zero windchill temperatures with my children in order to get help. I purchased a new car to have safety and peace of mind, and instead I am losing sleep at night and asking Nissan to buy this car back. I will list the most recent occurrence on the form, but please note this has happened at least 8 times.
