1 Steering problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 04/01/2022

1. Fuel gauge- the fuel hague is incorrect. I suspect somewhere between 1/2 tank and 3/8 tank will actually be an empty tank. I was almost left stranded when I could make it to the next service station. The car performed slow and the car came to a slow stop. No fuel indicator light came on. 2. My steering wheel has been very difficult to turn. Suddenly the power steering tank requires daily service. There is a rattling noise that gets a little better when I pour power steering fluid. I am unable to make safe turns due to the steering wheel no moving at it’s normal rate. Turning at intersections is the worst as I sometimes have to try several attempts. I end up having to take wide turns and that is not always safe in our narrow streets. There is no indicator light related to this concern.

2 Steering problem of the 2008 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/25/2021

I backed out of driveway towards the south to head north on public way. Vehicle immediately started accelerating backwards (south) without assistance, quickly getting out of control. No amount of pressure on my part would make the brakes work and there was no control of the steering. The vehicle was no longer under my control and crashed backwards into a large tree which held it from crashing farther, and a small tree on the side which held it from rolling down into a brook. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and I would prefer that it be inspected. No vehicles or pedestrians were in the street when the vehicle lost all control without human assistance. The passenger is front passenger seat was taken to er and has since been seeing a doctor. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or other service center. The police were at scene of accident right after it occurred. No lights, messages, or other symptoms gave any warning before the vehicle started racing and immediately went out of control with no control over speed, brakes or steering.

Added fluid and steered ok till 4 blocks from my house at which time the steering acting up again and not accelerating no matter how far you push the pedal. Turned it off and restarted again. Steering not working but accelerated enough to park it at home. Took to my mechanic but says he cannot look at it until Wednesday. Was so scared cause had the grandbabies in the van.

9 Steering problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

I ran out of gas on two separate occasions. Both times I thought I had plenty of gas due to what the gauge said. The first time, I had my 2 kids with me and it ran out as I was going around an unfamiliar curve in the interstate. The van became very hard to steer. Lucky for me I was in a lane next to a shoulder so I was able to fight it off of the road. It was very hard to stop at that point. The second time, I had 7 people in the car including my 2 kids and 4 of their young friends. This time it ran out just as I came to a curve on a road where people tend to speed. I did not have the strength to keep the van from crossing into the oncoming lane, but lucky for us, nobody was in the other lane at that time. I was able to coast off of the opposite side of the road. Both times I missed very important meetings but was thankful to be alive. I have since learned to reset my mileage counter when I fill up and watch to make sure I don't push it to far, but always afraid I may guess incorrectly. I am probably filling up at 1/2 tank for fear of stalling again with my kids in the van. After the first time, I thought I received a notice about a problem with the gauge. I had my van in for service at the local Nissan dealer and asked them about it. They looked it up and said they did not see anything about it. That was around 2015/03. I am tired of constantly filling up, so I am looking into how to get it fixed. That is how I found out about all the other complaints about the faulty gauge issue.

11 Steering problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

The first incident, occurring in the summer of 2014, caused my 2007 Nissan Quest to stall/shut off and nothing worked - it lost all steering, power, acceleration, braking, etc. It just died, going approximately 15mph while veering right to turn into a shopping center. This same incident occurred about a month later, while traveling approximately 25mph (posted speed limit) going uphill at night. Van just died and I was stranded on the road - lucky enough to get far enough near a private driveway not to get hit by a car, an to call for help. The fuel gauge was showing sufficient gas left in the tank, but it had run out of gas. We had put the vehicle in the shop for repair and luckily the mechanic was honest and Smart and concluded that it needed fuel and the gauge was defective. Luckily on both occasions, none of our three children (one special needs) were in the van. This defect left us without a second (family transportation) vehicle for several days and to incur unnecessary auto shop costs. Secondly, we recently had suspension work done, totaling over $1300. 00. There was apparently a recall for this, of which I was never made aware. The bolt defect was also never brought to my attention, but the rattling noise has existed since purchased used in 2011. These defects have caused potential endangerment to my family, incurred us costly shop/repair costs, and left us without a vehicle for days - highly dangerous and inconvenient, when all were known defects that should have been known to us and for which we should not have paid.

12 Steering problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

While driving, the car suddenly loses power and comes to a stop. After several attempts to restart the engine I decided to check the mte and gas guage which both indicate there is plenty of gas to continue. I had the battery, alternator and starter checked and they were fine. So I decided to add more gas then shazam it started. Please inform if there's a recall or how to remedy the issue. Thanks.

The failure occurred approximately every four months. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who indicated the vehicle had a design flaw and the motor mounts needed to be replaced. 14 Steering problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 06/19/2012

3 months after purchasing a brand new 2012 Nissan Quest (purchased vehicle on 04/15/2012), I was driving down a hill at a low rate of speed when the engine shut off and the car stated there was no more gas, even though there was a quarter tank. Cars behind me slammed on their breaks and luckily we were not hit. I put the car in neutral and after coasting down the hill and reaching a level part of the road, my car started again and told me that I had a quarter tank. After taking the car to the dealer, I learned there was an open recall campaign (NHTSA recall 12v076) on the 2012 Quest and the remedy was not performed prior to me purchasing the vehicle, which is against regulations as the recall campaign was started by Nissan before I purchased the vehicle. On 06/20/2012 (1 day after the incident) I took the car to a Nissan dealer to be repaired and the problem was supposedly fixed at town center Nissan under r/o number 6012078/1. On September 26th I started to turn into an intersection on a green arrow when my car shut off and said I was out of gas, (a minute prior to that the car said I had 37 miles and a quarter tank left). I was almost rear ended (the car had to swerve into another lane) and good samaritans pushed me into a parking lot close by. I realize that NHTSA has already acted on the problem my car experienced, but I feel something should be done with regards to the dealer "gwinnett place Nissan" who sold me the car without first fixing the problem (since it was a brand new car). I also want NHTSA to be aware that the "fix" so far has not worked for my vehicle. We are giving them a "final repair opportunity notice" via the lemon law.

15 Steering problem of the 2004 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/02/2010

Bad vibration when braking, changed rotors and pads on front brakes seem to make the problem less but after a period of time a clunking noise 5000 miles was starting to be heard. Control arm ball joint on right side had excessive play and was replaced, but that did not get ride of the shudder in the braking situation. Told it was warped brakes, replaced break rotors and pads 1000 miles . Still no difference in the shudder is still there rotated the tires no difference in the shudder. I had new tires in the car when the right front wheel fell off. No stud-lugs could be found and major damage to front fender and bumper. Our au pair driver reported a noise coming from somewhere but visual inspection did not indicate where the problem was. Continued to drive when the noise became louder pull off interstate to shoulder at about 15 mph tile fell off. Body and mechanical work will be done. To correct the problem.

17 Steering problem of the 2009 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 02/19/2010

Went on a road trip. Our new Nissan Quest 2009 was fine until after 4 hours of driving and then suddenly the steering wheel started to shake. It shook so badly that we thought we had a flat tire. It continued to shake until we pulled over to the shoulder and come to a complete stop. We went back on the highway and it was fine for a couple of hours and then acted up again. The same thing happened. It won't let us accelerate and no matter how slow we go it was still shaking. We had an infant in the van and our other son was 5 yrs. Very dangerous to be on the road in the middle of the night and having to pull over every couple of hours when it started acting up. Imagine when there are no shoulders to pull over and the van was shaking so bad that you can't control it. Please recall this item. Something is wrong with the brake system/rotors etc.

20 Steering problem of the 1997 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/15/2003

I purchased a 1997 Nissan Quest from bell Honda August 30,2003 at 9:30 pm. By 1:30 pm the next day (16 hours later) the check engine light was on and the back suspension sounded like it was 100 years old. The windshield washers did not function properly and it was monsoon season. The switch for power windows was not working, I had a brake light out, no sun visor, and no dash lights to illuminate my gauge cluster at night. All within 16 hours and 15. 5 of those hours it was sitting in my driveway not even being used. I drove it 5 minutes down the road when I bought it and then 8 minutes to the church the following morning, and then 15 minutes back to the dealership to report the problems. I asked for my trade in back and they refused. They placed my Quest in the shop and left it there for 10 days. Of which 2 of those days they did not even give me a loaner car knowing that the Quest was my only vehicle for me and my husband to go to and from work and take my daughter to school everyday 20 miles away. They contacted me and let me know the car was ready and had no problems and within 5 seconds of turning on the car and driving just a few feet I knew the car had not been fixed it was malfunctioning the same way. I asked them to refix and they told me they could not duplicate the problem. I then demanded to see the owner and asked yet again for my trade in back this was now the third time asking for it or my money. I met the owner some days later. He told me I could keep the Quest or he would put me in a new car. He never gave me a choice just threw another vehicle at me and even charged me more money to do it. I hate the new vehicle and will not drive it not to mention I am fearful of my safety as I do not trust this dealership nor their vehicles anymore. I just want my old car back or my money and never see this dealership again. I hope you post this loud and clear.
