The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Quest. The contact noticed the
vehicle was not designed to store a spare tire when she had to
replace the vehicle flat running tires with normal designed tires. She had to place the spare tire behind the rear seat which she believed was a safety hazard. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised that as a design defect, the vehicle was not designed to hold a spare tire. The manufacturer did not provide any further assistance. The failure and current mileages were 32,000.

I have a 2007 Nissan Quest I bought new. It has rear sonar as one of the options and due to the size, shape and blind spots it is needed. I noticed with 35000 miles that the rear sonar was inop- since I bought it for my wife, I was unaware it was inop for a while. It was not covered under warranty because I have owned it for 37 mos. After some research it appears it is not only common in all years of the Quest but the titan as well. The problem is a defective aural buzzer. When you have a fault somewhere in the system the off light should come on letting you know the system is off- however, it illuminates sporadically and what you think is a working system is really not- I have talked with people who were unaware the system was off until they backed into something causing minimal but expensive damage. I am an aircraft mechanic and cannot see how there is not a recall on the buzzer- when backing up looking behind you and using your mirrors there is a huge blind area in the back of the van that is caused by the gradual increase in the slope of the body panels. My concern is that it is a matter of time before someone gets injured. The problem is that Nissan uses a defective buzzer that they know will fail- it is a cheap fix for the dealers however for the consumer it would cost upwards of 400 dollars for a buzzer that can be purchased at radio shack for 5 dollars. I replaced mine with the original Nissan part that cost 60 dollars and find it offensive they have not voluntarily fixed a problem they know exists- it is safety related and as someone who fixes jets for a major airline, safety is first and foremost along with a reliable, dependable product. This should be a recall. Thank you.
My Nissan Quest 2006 model has had the drivers side sun visor replaced 3 times. It continues to fall out of place into the drivers view. It has now happened again 4th time and hit my wife in the face while she was breaking at an intersection. It a serious safety issue if it fails and drops to restrict view while driving. Nissan and dealership are not helping reach a solution.

I own a 2004 Nissan Quest. I had lift the trunk of the car with a remote to quickly grab something from the trunk as I was in a hurry. The hatchback came crashing down on my hand. The bag I was grabbing got caught in between and kept me from severing my hand. I took the car to Nissan who did not seem to be bothered the least by this. They told me to replace a motor that controls the trunk. I feel that there should be a safety device to reverse the door and keep it from closing so rapidly. I won't let my 12 year son touch the door anymore.
Drivers side sun visor falls while driving blocking the view of the road in front of the driver.
Failure of automatic doors, mirrors and moon roof began from the moment we drove van out of lot. Daily we have issues with one of the above problems. Have taken to 3 different dealers to have problems resolved and each time are told they could not find anything.

Purchased this vehicle 3 months ago, used. We have had nothing but problems since. The main problems are: the roof leaks, whether it's the sunroof or something else causing the leak remains to be seen. Dealer claims no leak found, but everytime it rains there is water in the van, which now reeks of mold. The passenger power sliding door will not close properly on the first try. It keeps opening up right as it goes to close. Dealer claims fixed but still have to make 2 or 3 attempts before it will finally work. Door would not close at all 2 times in the last week. Manual override did not release the door. After waiting 5 minutes and trying again, the door would finally shut. The a/c does not blow out cool air on very hot (over 80 degrees) days.
I have had the van in the shop at least 4 times(~15 days) with ongoing problems which include: the windows failing to roll up when button is pushed, the gas gauge failing to register gas after filling it up, the gas meter after a half a tank never registers correctly (when light indicates no gas and tank is filled the van will only take 16 gallons and owners manual indicates a 20 gallon tank), the transmission slips, the sliding doors squeak and rattle, rear interior clamps on floor of car are rusting, idiot lights come on intermittently, the gaskets on the doors are coming off, the heated seats haven't worked in high and low, the entertainment system doesn't respond to rear av, and the air conditioner is not cool enough and it stinks. The automatic slide doors will not stop for small objects but this product was designed for families. These doors will remove a child's finger and the switch to initiate the auto slide is low, where one child can push it while another is getting in, or has their hand in the way and didn't realize their brother pushed the button. I did my own little research test, I got pencils and everywhere I placed a pencil the door closed with the pencil being snapped into many pieces and crunched up in the door. Then I tried the same thing on my friend's Honda, but the Honda's auto slide doors bounced off every time. Nissan only designed their doors to respond to large extremities. I have an attorney and I am going through a process for lemon law. I didn't realize the issues with the van in a few days so I don't think Nissan service will resolve all these issues in 2 days with a special Nissan engineer sent out from the company as part of my lemon law process. And in regards to the sliding door concerns all anyone will say is that the doors are performing the way they were designed to. So Nissan designed a product for families that will remove a small hand or finger.

Purchased vehicle on April 30, 2005, have had vehicle back at dealership 7 times due to the sunglass container leaking on the console when it rains. Dealership has re-sealed windshield and this only made the problem worse. Taking vehicle back for a second time to have the windshield re-sealed. Attorney has been contacted regarding the procedure for the lemon law.
Contact owns a 2005 Nissan Quest. The angle of the windshield and the color of the dashboard reflect off the dashboard, making it impossible for the consumer to see out of the windshield. The local dealer called Nissan, and Nissan refused to admit that there was a problem. There was only 3,000 miles on the vehicle.
The contact owned a 2005 Nissan Questand had several problems with this vehicle, such as air conditioner compressor went out/the vehicle pulled to the left/two sliding doors vibrated while in motion/right passenger door was very hard to open and close, and dashboard made a funny noise. Also, when reaching 30 mph the vehicle made a noise and stopped. Also, did this when reaching 60 mph. The back windows while open and in motion vibrated. She was afriad the windows will break. Contact checked into the lemon law.
A newly purchased 2004 Nissan Quest with current mileage of around 4,800 miles when incident happened. While driving on highway, the driver side rear tire suddenly bent and smoke came out. Van was then towed back to dealership and found that the cross member was broken off. Dealership denied warranty coverage because service manager thought that such damage may have been caused by a collision, because he saw a few light scratches and a smaller than 2cm mark on the rim. I am sure that the van was not hit by anything when the tire was bent. The scratches and little mark could be caused by pulling over to shoulder with a bent tire. I pointed to the service manager that the joint of the broken cross member was full of rust, a sign of incomplete sealed over a period of time, obviously not a new damage caused by an accident. Even tried contacting manufacturer many times, but no solution was made because manufacturer makes decision based on dealership statement. Also, squeaking noise has been coming out from rear sliding doors, dealerships stated that they removed doors but no finding and problems still exist.
Consumer purchased vehicle in December 2003, and soon after, it began to rattle behind the driver's side door. Consumer notified the dealer and they found nothing. Then, consumer contacted a second dealer ,who adjusted the hinge because it was loose. Vehicle rode quietly for about 3-4 weeks, the it started to rattle again. Consumer called the manufacturer, and was told that a technical service bulletin was issued on this problem, and that he should take vehicle back to the dealer. Consumer called the dealer, and dealer made an appointment for the following day to have vehicle inspected. Consumer saw many similar complaints on the website.
Vehicle purcahsed 3/23/04. Discovered leaks beginning 4/11/04. Vehicle has since leaked on four separate occassions. Requested information is as follows: (1) normal driving, (2) four separate leaks with extensive water entry into the vehicle, (3) first leak dealership resealed driver's side sky-view window (window in roof above 2nd and 3rd row seats), second time they replaced the window, third time the resealed the luggage rack roof mounts and fourth time they resealed the rear side window on the driver's side.
Humming noise is experienced while the car is going at a constant speed or going up the hill. This noise was reported the first day after the vehicle was bought and the noise has increased over time. Bought the van brand new on 2/29/04 and reported the problem the next day. Since then, taken the van to the dealership numerous times. Each time I am told that it is a normal condition. Even Nissan rep. Came and inspected the car and made the same comment. If it is a problem, it needs to be fixed like so many other things on the van.
The brakes heat up and the rotors warp. The steering wheel would start shaking when the consumer applied the brakes. The vehicle was taken to the dealership at that point. The consumer stated it happened every 4000 miles since she has had the vehicle. It first happened in March of 2004. The dealership is telling the consumer that the brakes are heating up. The rotors have been resurfaced three times. They ordered new rotors and they have been on for approximately 3 months and the steering wheel is shaking again. She has also gone through two fuel injectors. She was told that she is putting low grade fuel into the vehicle. Other issues: the passenger side auto door would rattle when the vehicle was in motion, abnormal shifting, engine light had come on, rear wiper had broken, steering wheel would shake due to the brakes, the front left seat back was loose due to poor fit, mouding on the rear of the driver's seat was coming off, the fuel gauge was stuck on empty after two fill ups.
The automatic transmission will not down shift. When the consumer was pulling onto the freeway, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The cause of the failure was undetermined because dealership was unable to duplicate the problem. When the sun shined onto the dashboard, the reflection reflected onto the windshield and caused an obstruction and distraction to the driver's view. The correct model year 2004. From the park position, the consumer was unable to go up an incline. The transmission did not engage to low gear for the power to move up the hill. The consumer had to back down the hill. The radio would get static when going over bumps, and the driver's side lower panel was coming apart.
Involved in a low impact auto accident (probably less than 40 mph because air bags weren't even deployed, no injuries whatsoever sustained by myself and other driver, miniscule damage to other vehicle) in 11/01. Immediately car was on fire which resulted in total loss of vehicle. Alleging that the Nissan Quest is inherently unsafe due to poor frontal design of vehicle (see results of insurance institute for highway safety crash test results) - this is result of minivan catching fire so easily and rapidly. Attempts to resolve matter with Nissan ignored (asked for replacement of items lost in car/amt not covered by gap insurance, approx. $5000 total). Now will seek recovery of funds via lawsuit.
