1 Body problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 07/22/2021

My 2012 Nissan Quest has completely rotted out causing the muffler system and the motor mount to move causing significant damage and repair. Over $2,500 just to buy parts and repair all due to excessive rust on the body frame underneath. Its only a 2012 yet it looks as if it is a lot older. While driving the muffler system failed and broke away along with the motor mount which shifted. Cannot be driven any longer.

5 Body problem of the 2004 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 01/16/2020

I took the vehicle in for some maintenance/repair to the front axle on 1/16/2020 and the mechanic found that the subframe on the passenger side of the vehicle by the front tire was severely rusted to the point where he can push his finger through the side of the frame. He told me he could not believe I had not had an accident because in his opinion hitting a medium size chuckhole in the roadway could cause the right front of the vehicle to completely collapse. The mechanic indicated this did not happen overnight and has been ongoing. The vehicle has been parked in a garage at my home during its use since it was purchased new by me and not routinely left parked on the street. The mechanic advised me that in his opinion it was not safe to drive the vehicle very far.

6 Body problem of the 2016 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 12/04/2019

I have a 2016 Nissan Quest. It snowed last night, and a piece of ice got stuck in the driver's side exterior door handle and kept the handle slightly ajar. Because of this, the driver's side door would not open using the interior door handle. I had to unroll the window, and push the exterior handle back to its normal position before the interior door handle would open the door. I am gravely concerned about the design of the door latch mechanism. It would be logical that the interior handle should override any state the that the exterior handle is in (for example, if the exterior handle was damaged in an accident) as a safety precaution.

8 Body problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Severe sub-frame rot only on passenger side. Brought to my attention during routine maintenance, and was told this was a very common issue. Driver side appears fine. Appears a/c drip is suspect, and the frame just rots directly below it. Online search revealed numerous exact complaints. All other components are solid. How is this not a safety recall?.

I am writing due to the fact I took my 2004 Nissan Quest into the shop today because of a loose steering wheel and a horrible clunking noise coming from the front right side. My van only has 97,000 miles on it and has been taken care of very well. The mechanic told me the the subframe is basically rotting away and is the worst he has seen in 50 years of work. I've read numerous accounts online of other who have had this same issue. I feel like Nissan should help cover the cost of my repairs due to poor manufacturing and poor quality of parts. I am very unhappy and will be sharing my story with whoever I can share it with. I will include a link with a site with many complaints from other owners of this same vehicle. Please help me out. This is a big issue because my wife and three children ride in this vehicle daily. . Read more...

20 Body problem of the 2004 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/22/2014

I took my car to the mechanic for an alternator, my mechanic discovered that the front subframe of the vehicle was rusted almost through and deemed the car unsafe to drive. We located a used subframe with difficulty because many of them were like this. Seems to be a problem with the frame in this vehicle. If it had cracked there would have been an accident. Nissan north America is uninterested because I did not go to the dealer. I have the rusted part.

21 Body problem of the 2012 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 07/10/2014

May 2014, I had a wet driver side a pillar that was leaking. Nissan attributed it to a defective sunroof with a crack. The headliner, subwoofer and amplifier were replaced. On July 10, 2015, I took my car to a flagship carwash. After my car was washed I noticed water on the right side of the rear sunroof and on the headliner in the rear of the vehicle on both the right and left sides of the car was wet in all the above noted locations. My radio also stopped working. Nissan had my car for five days and said they could not recreate the leak or determine what was wrong with the radio. They would not look at the radio as it was not under warranty. I took my car to a local radio repair shop and they discovered rust behind the panels in the rear of the vehicle, in the cargo area and 2 inches of water under my cargo area. Vehicle was purchased Feb 2013 new.

My vehicle was t-boned on the left driver side. The front quarter panel and rear quarter panel was damaged. The left wheel and tire rod was replaced. The tires were replaced but every since this accident I have had severe issues with my front end steering and rattling noice. I cannot drive over bumps without my front end feeling like it shifts and I cannot turn curves over 20 mph or else it begins to shake extremely bad. I have had mutiple work done and it keeps doing the same thing. It is definitely not safe to continue driving with my kids in it but its all I have. I cannot exceed 30 mph on a straight way without the vehicle shaking vigorously.

29 Body problem of the 2000 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 04/28/2012

An f-350 ran a stoplight at 50 mph and impacted the front driver side of van at the tire. The van turned upon impact and received the balance of the impact head on with concentration to the left quadrant. Further spinning, the van then impacted the side of the offending vehicle. Complaint: the air bags did not deploy. She was wearing her seat belt. She sustained injuries to cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions of back. She was treated for 2. 5 months and then released. Her head hit the driver side roof, thankfully, just above the window resulting only in bruising. Her muscles were sore from head to toe for about a month. It is quite possible that these injuries would have been minimized by airbag deployment. High impact crash to the bumper and no protection of airbags seems to be a common complaint found online. Positive feedback: the entire front end, engine, battery, etc. Compacted into a pancake, but the passenger compartment had only a small buckle on the floor board at the pedals. The engine was crushed. This was a definite positive. (unrelated to accident complaint above: the exterior handles of the sliding doors were replaced twice. Prior to the latter repair, when the passenger side exterior sliding door handle broke, my daughter's hand was cut and bruised!).

The current and failure mileage was 131,000.

32 Body problem of the 2004 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 10/19/2010

Driving my 2004 Nissan Quest with approx 61000 miles at 55 mph on local highway when it sounded like the side of car was hit. I pulled over and found my passenger power sliding door rail cover, a piece (~4ft by 5 to 8 inches) had nearly completely detached from the car except for bent back bracket. I could not remove (piece wedge into tail light) so I pushed it in as best as possible and drove home. Very fortunate the piece did not detach completely and hit the vehicle behind. This could have caused some serious damage, maybe even hurt someone. I found other reports of this safety/design problem occurring with 2004 Quest. The metal cover was bent, the taillight assembly cracked around the edge and some nasty scratches in the paint. This piece is attached by small plastic grommet clips that seem brittle. Poorly designed since the rear is attached under the taillight and the front with plastic clips. If they would have put the metal tab in the front also this would have never happened. Took it to the dealer in kennesaw,GA and they said it would be $700 to fix and it would not be covered as a manufactures defect. Called Nissan corporate and they dragged their feet for a few days and called me back and said they would assist in any way due to being out of warranty. It is a real shame because I have had 2 Nissans previously (trucks) and I will probably never buy another Nissan. Corporate was very cold and short, zero customer service in mind.

33 Body problem of the 2001 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/27/2010

The rear most passenger side window bracket gets in the way of the passenger side sliding door, effectively locking it closed. The door cannot be opened from the inside and someone on the outside needs to use a shim to push the bracket back into place to provide enough clearance for the door to open.

34 Body problem of the 2004 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 08/14/2010

My Nissan Quest 2004 has problems with the sliding door- it opens but closes immediately - almost trapping my 4 year once. Also, it does not lock fully and so there is a beeping sounds when the van is started and driven for a while, when closing the door from the button inside, there was a noise and beep and it would not close at times until 3 or 4 trials.

35 Body problem of the 2004 Nissan Quest

Children was entering vehicle and door spontaneously closed on hand. This has happened periodically since, but never with the exact same circumstances. Ie opened door to load packages, turned back around and door started closing.
