36 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Ttl-the contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue the contact stated that while driving at 70mph when the vehicle came to road surface that was not smooth or flat surface and felt as if the vehicle was on an incline. The vehicle decelerated 20mph. The failure was experienced numerous times. On one occasion the vehicle decelerated and the contact was able to move onto the left lane, the contact had to place the gear into reverse and had to reversed the vehicle to be able to shift into drive. The vehicle was taken to an unknown independent mechanic; a diagnostic was performed that located the failure code at the continuously variable transmission. The contact consulted a second independent unknown mechanic, the mechanic advised the contact that the transmission cannot be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not taken to a dealership. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. Li.

37 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2016

While driving on the highway, car will lose power. We press the gas pedal all the way to the floor and car decelerates; there is absolutely no power. The last incident occurred 5/13/2016. We were driving at about 80mph; we were on a flat stretch of road and the car completely lost power; speed went down to about 40 mph. Finally regained speed on flat stretch of road but every time we hit a slight incline we would lose power. Part of the time we were on a two lane hi-way and cars were backing up behind us. Then, after going along with no problems for a period of time we pulled of at an exit. After stopping at a stop sign when we tried to move gas pedal went to the ground and car did not move-then it lurched suddenly and accelerated. Later in the drive-on a flat ground going 80 mph car lurched and decelerated --as I said, this has happened before; this last incident was most frustrating as we were on a long road trip and feeling very unsafe.

38 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2016

We have a 2010 Nissan rouge that will be driving fine then all of a sudden it starts decelerating to less than 70 mph on a busy interstate. Even trying to push the gas pedal all the way down does not do anything. We purchased this Nissan for our child to drive to college because we thought it would be safe. We have major concerns about this happening every time it is driven on the interstate. Does not have this problem when driven just locally. It only has 65k miles on it. Thought Nissan's were supposed to last forever and be safe. Don't feel safe sending my child to college in it anymore because this is happening so frequently.

39 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving on an incline at 40 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 30 mph. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission assembly needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 55,000.

40 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2015

Almost since I bought the car, I felt while driving that the motor was shaking and I took it to a mechanic that told me must be the axle, then I took it to the universal Nissan in orlando, and they told me that it was nothing, and that was normal in the cvt, motors. It kept doing it and I took it again to see if there was a recall, nothing was found, now after the warranty expired I took it for a oil change and they found that the right axle have to be replace entirely, since the oil transmission is leaking from it, and that the part that hold the motor have to be replace too, since the bushing fell apart and it is dangerous, I know there are others with the same problem and Nissan doesn't want to fix it unless a lot of money is paid, they were just giving excuses so the warranty expired, so now they want to charge a lot. This should be included in recalls.

41 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2015

Vehicle would not accelerate while driving the transmition was shifted into neutral than into drive without response, I turned off the car and it would not restart, I let the car rest it started after about 20 min, all of this occured after a long trip 1. 5 hours then a short break 0. 5 -1 hour. This problem could not be replicated by the dealership mechanics. Please see attached url for same type of complaints. . Read more...

42 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2015

9-5-15 was making a right turn car came to sudden stop in the middel of turn. Ending up finding out the tranission blow cost me 4500. 00 to put a new transission in. Once I got the transission put in I toke the vehicle back telling then when at a stop sign or lights the car would die out. Sometimes the car has no power when taking off. Car has been to 3 differant shops for the dieing out, it has no codes no one can find whats wrong with the car.

43 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2015

After a 30 minutes to 1 hour drive on a highway, the vehicle drops in speed when driving uphill. Vehicle speed decreases and stays no more than 35 mph; resulting in an unsafe, hazardous condition. Nissan diagnosis found to be a transmission problem and needs to replace it, p0725 and u1000, however cvt warranty extension has expired.

44 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2015

2nd complaint of repeated issue, subsequent occurrence. 2010 Nissan Rogue lost power and decelerated from 70 mph to approximately 40 mph while traveling on highway, hazards applied however vehicles approaching had to change lanes. On this occurrence a vehicle check engine light appeared. Pulled off road and when accelerator was depressed engine revved to approximately 2500 rpm with no forward motion then lurched forward rapidly accelerating then lost power again before returning to normal operation. Note that Nissan dealership acknowledges that this is a known issue, instructed that the cvt transmission warranty has been extended to 120k miles and to bring to dealership. Nissan states this is the result of transmission overheating and causing the vehicle to enter safety (also known as limp) mode.

45 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2015

Was driving highway speed for an hour when the vehicle stopped responding to acceleration. Got off the highway and allowed the car to rest. Upon another hour at highway speeds the car again did not respond to acceleration.

46 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2015

Pulling away from multiple stop signs, the Rogue would not accelerate even with pedal pressed to floor. People were honking behind me and passing. Had this same issue with going through traffic circles to slow down and yield and then try to accelerate again. Rogue took several minutes to go up to 40mph. I finally had to pull over into parking lot. I turned car off and waited about 5 minutes to then try again. When I turned the Rogue on this time, it seemed to function normal. I was able to continue at normal speeds and acceleration the remainder of my trip. My husband and our mechanic were not able to replicate the problem. I have read that many people seem to have this same issue. Very dangerous since you expect car to move as you pull into traffic and it does not. There were no lights on dash at time of incident. I have noticed the vdc & slip light has come on several times over the past 2 weeks for no apparent reason. Including today about 3 hours before this acceleration problem. I had been driving to several places throughout afternoon with car shut off between. I would estimate I drove a total of 60 miles over a 5 hour period. Car started acting up during the last 30 minutes before my final destination. When this took place, it took me about 1 hour to go 17 miles. Normally it takes me just under 30 minutes.

47 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2015

After driving about an hour, the cvt no longer works and the car will not accelerate, even if you put the pedal to the floor. It will not go above 2,000 rpms and if you go up a hill you will lose accelerations. This happens frequently after an hour or more of driving. The only way to temporarily fix the issue is to turn the car off for a while. It has almost caused major accidents on the highway.

48 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2015

Car failed to accelerate while on the highway going 70mph. This is a very dangerous, precarious place for Nissan to put drivers as they attempt to accelerate on the highway. This transmission problem is in need of a recall before lives are lost.

49 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2015

While driving on the interstate at 75 mph on a hot day 90 degrees. I was using max a/c. Car was fine and suddenly felt sluggish and wouldn't accelerate. I pulled off at next available exit, after a complete stop the car refused to move then suddenly accelerated slowly similar to when an abrupt brake is applies and car moves very slowly (extremely dangerous condition all the rouges have) I shut off the a/c and let car rest for 5 minutes then got back on the highway, although feeling sluggish I arrived at my destination. On my ride home several hours later I did not use a/c and outside temps had dropped to mid 70, the car appeared fine. I will note that this problem also occurred 2 years earlier in the summer of 2013 at 87,000 miles during another long highway trip driving in high temps. In this case I cancelled trip and brought car to the dealer after cool down period, the problem didn't present itself, no dash lights or codes same as previous. The dealer charged me $1800. 00 to change dirty transmission fluid. Problem is back again at 112,000 miles. There is a serious problem with these cars that is "dangerous". Had I needed to come to an abrupt stop on the highway I would not be able to move out of the way and as a separate issue when you abruptly brake the car can't get out of it's own way and has scared me several times.

50 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

I bought this 2010 Nissan rougue 5 months back from carmax, lexington, ky. I travel frequently from lexington, ky to cary, nc and new york, NY every quarter. I used my son car camry and rental cars( chevvy, Ford, Toyota and Nissan ultima), but never faced this problem. The problem is when once on highway I set the vehicle in cruise control for 72 mph, suddenly when the highway elevation starts to go up, the cruise control is dropped and the vehicle starts speed starts to slide up to 30. . . The elast it dropped is 29 mph, evwn while you are pressing accelerator ( infact it is floored ). Then I stopped using cruise control, but for every elevation the problem persists, thias continues till I stopped getting high altitudes. Around lexington, ky where ever I go I hit mountains, so I started facing this problem, when ever I hit us 64 e, us 77n or s and us 75 n or s. . . . . . . . Yesterday my self, my wife and my daughter are coming home from new york to lexington, the problem started once it hits mountains and continues till weschester, ky whivh is 20 miles from lexington, ky. The drive of 12 hours, took absolutely 22 hrs with break for every 3 hrs ( break of 20 to 25 mts), other than breaks just imagine on highway the vehicle starts to drop the speed and what happens with vehicles behind you, even highly loaded trucks crossed us and drove comfortably. . . . . . . It is a serious dangerous problem with Nissan rougue. . . To be rectified or fixing the problem. The same routes I drove in different vehicle as mentioned above even Nissan utima as rental car, no issues, but for this vehicle. Then online I found that mine is not the first or last vehicle, there are more Nissan Rogues like this. We need justice from the Nissan USA.

51 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2015

I was on a road trip about 2 hours or so into a 7 hour drive and my vehicle would not accelerate up inclines. Absolutely no power!! the gas pedal was completely depressed to the floor. I went from 75mph to 45mph and was almost hit from the rear. This also happened on the return trip, but this time I knew enough to get in the slow lane when I approached an incline. Once I was on straight, flat parts of the interstate it took a little while before I was able to get back up to speed. I stopped for gas and tried to back up on a slight incline and I could shift into reverse but the vehicle would not move. A short time into the rest of the trip home my service engine soon light came on. Very dangerous. I do not feel safe at all in this vehicle.

52 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

2010 Nissan Rogue. Consumer writes in regards to the wiring harness connector recall notice, driver seat slides back, engine service light and other vehicle issues. The consumer had difficulty getting the gear shift out of park and the vehicle had a jerking effect while driving. The consumer referenced recall # 15v032000.

53 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

Driving at interstate highway speeds, the vehicle would immediately loose power. Speed would drop from 70 mph to 45-50 mph very quickly. It seemed like within 100-200 yards. This occurred on flat ground after driving several hours or sooner when going through hilly terrain, such as the appalachian mountains. Once the event occurred, it would reoccur. For example it would slow quickly going up a hill, then going down the hill you could get back up to speed. Once you started up the next hill, you would loose speed very quickly again. On flat ground after the first occurrence, anytime you accelerated - such as during passing, it would loose speed. To temporarily "reset" the car, we would stop for 10-15 min. This would allow the car to be driven for about 1 hour before it would reoccur. Two things happen as a result of this, one when we were passing a truck who was slowed by a hill, we partially got around the truck, then immediately lost speed. Cars following us would really need to be paying attention. On flat ground you would just loose speed immediately and cars would quickly catch up. Second, stopping frequently causes trips to take a lot more time. Checking the internet resulted in Nissan's knowledge of this problem which caused them to increase the warranty. They need to fix it.

54 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue. While driving at approximately 65 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cvt (continuous variable transmission) needed to be repaired. As a result, the vehicle transmission was flushed however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

55 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue. While driving approximately 20 mph, the slip and vehicle dynamic control off warning indicators illuminated. When the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, the rpm increased but the vehicle failed to accelerate over 20 mph. The failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the brakes operated as normal and suggested using a fuel injector or cleaner to resolve the failure. A fuel injector was used, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.

56 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

57 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2014

After driving for several hours at highway speed the car loses power going up slight hills. The speed drops from 70 mph to 40 mph with the gas pedal fully depressed. When I exited the highway to pay the toll the car wouldn't accelerate after going through the toll both. After a few seconds the car lurched forward and started to get up to speed . At the next hill it lost power again going up the hill. This car is being driven in connecticut so it's not being driven over mountainous terrain.

58 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2014

I was at the speed of 65 mph and when climbing hill the speed drops down to 40 mph.

59 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2014

I stopped the vehicle with the shift lever in drive. When I tried to shift into reverse to back up I could get no farther than neutral. The release button on the shift lever would not move. I could not get into reverse or park. I managed to get the cover on the right side of the shift lever off and a broken piece of gray plastic fell out. The shift lever release button then worked and I was able to shift into reverse and into park. I have driven the vehicle several times with no more problems. Not being able to get into reverse in a timely manner could cause a serious situation to develop. I saved the broken piece of plastic that jammed the release lever.

60 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

First off, there was not an accident. . . But there surely would be if this car were to be driven in its present state. Essentially, catastrophic failure of the cvt (transmission), so that, when sitting at a stop light, stepping on the accelerator would result in increase in rpm but no forward motion at first. It might eventually engage, but operation is totally unpredictable. Even though this is a well known issue and Nissan did double the warrantee they failed to notify owners claiming that because it wasn't a recall, it was not required. Vehicle is currently 10,000 miles outside the * warrantee mileage limit, but had owner been notified about this impending failure, repairs could have been effected inside the warrantee period. Nissan has declined to offer any assistance whatsoever, but does hope that we have "a nice day". Will it take loss of life or limb for Nissan to "do the right thing"?.

61 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

Driving at highway speed, the vehicle would refuse to accelerate to pass a vehicle. Happened multiple times on a 1 hour road trip, causing near fatality as car would not accelerate up a hill and when in the course of passing a disabledvehicle, the car would not speed up enough to keep up with traffic speed in adjacent lane, causing driver behind vehicle to slam on brakes to avoid collision. The vehicle refused to accelerate the remainder of the trip (1 hour more) and engine light illuminated.

62 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2014

I was driving on the highway when the vehicle started slowing down. When I pushed down on the gas pedal, the rpm's revved into the red and the vehicle made a loud whining sound and continued to slow down. I pulled over and turned the car off and back on. Tried to accelerate by pressing the gas pedal to the floor and the vehicle barely coasted. Stopped and turned vehicle off. After about 30 minutes, I turned the car back on and it ran fine. This is the first time this has happened while moving. In the past 6 months there have been at least 8 instances where while I was stopped at a stop light or waiting to turn left, I would push down on the accelerator to go and the car would barely start to coast with the pedal to the floor. Then after a few seconds, the vehicle would suddenly accelerate. I'm afraid that I'm going to be t-boned while turning because I don't know if when I press down on the gas pedal if I'll go or coast into oncoming traffic.

63 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2014

Tl * the contact owns a 2010 Nissan rouge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would decelerate sporadically and without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the continuous variable transmission (cvt) had overheated causing the transmission to burn up. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 76,000.

64 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2014

While driving my 2010 Nissan Rogue s trying to enter a main highway, the car suddenly lost all power and no matter how much gas was given the car would not accelerate. After safely making it off the highway at the next exit and pulling over, the car would still not go over 5 mph and had no reverse. This is a major issue that could have caused a major accident which could of injured or killed both my passengers and I and any other motorist approaching me at highway speeds as I was attempting to enter the roadway.

65 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2014

Every time I come to a complete stop, or go onto a freeway, my car cannot accelerate at the proper speed when pushing down on the peddle. There is about a 5-10 second delay to get it to the correct speed. I've been honked at and I've been almost hit because of this. I have a 3 year old daughter and I'm scared that one of these days I'll get into an accident because of it. I feel unsafe and in danger because of this car. It's unfortunate because I always thought highly of Nissan.

66 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2014

I was with my 2 small kids at a drive through. I stepped on the gas with the pedal all the way down to the floor and the car would not go/ move until after about 3secs. This was so scary it could have caused someone to hit the back of my car. After the three secs the car gets going fast then maintains normal speed. I drove it again today thinking it could be the gas I had put it so I ran the gas out to almost empty and put in new gas. Again the same problem. Will take it to the shop if not resolved a class action suit will be the next step. My kids life and mine are at stake her.

67 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds the vehicle suddenly would not accelerate past 65 mph and the rpm's would not increase past 3000. The failure was intermittent and would occur after driving for more then 1 hour. The contact also indicated that the failure was more severe while driving up an inclined road and the service engine light had recently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnosed the cause of the failures. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 75,000. Jft.

68 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift from park to any other gear. The failure was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure and current mileage was approximately 62,000. Updated 3/14/cn.

69 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2013

While driving at highway speeds the vehicle suddenly lost power. The first 4-5 times this happened the power loss was from 75 to 55-60 or so mph and if the vehicle was shut off and restarted it reset. The last time it would go around 70 downhill but only 20-30 uphill and it would not reset upon restart. After about 30 minutes it finally reset.

70 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2013

While driving our Nissan Rogue on the highway the vehicle begins to decelerate even with the accelerator fully engaged. Our vehicle has gone from 70mph to 10mph on the highway several times. There is clearly a problem with the transmission. The Nissan dealership keeps telling us we need to do a full transmission fluid flush on the vehicle every year. We paid to have this done in August of 2013 when it first started happening and it still continues to happen. We are scared to drive the vehicle as it seems very dangerous to go from highway speeds to barely being able to roll into a parking long within a matter of minutes.
