36 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to Nissan of lawton (580-353-2244, located at 201 w gore blvd, lawton, ok 73501) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

37 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2019

Cvt failed while on the interstate (70mph) and vehicle stopped accelerating. Gas pedal was unresponsive and the car rapidly slowed down while I attempted to to pull over on the side of the road. Cars surrounding were forced to brake, maneuver around. My 3 year old was also in the car. The issue was confirmed by the dealer as an issue with the cvt. There were recalls to transmissions in Rogues made prior (2008-2010) and for years made after (2015?). I had the valve replaced per recommendation 2 years ago, and now I am dealing with the same issue for a second time. I attempted to pull out of my driveway, but 20ft out the car stopped accelerating again.

38 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2019

Labor day last year, we were driving down an old rural road, just got done passing a car and then our Rogue sounded like it revving the engine, then next thing we know it died at 65 mph with only 102,000 miles on it. $1000 engine later we fixed it. Now, last week on my way to work, trying to get up to 60 mph on highway and it revs up to 4 grand and will not shift. We limp it home. Thought needed tranny fluid so we add some. That Friday we take on a 2 1/2 road trip, we had to slow down to 40 mph for construction and then accelerate when construction was done. The car would not accelerate it revved up to 4 grand again. When we tried to get up a hill, on a freeway mind you, we had the gas pedal pegged and it climbed the hill at 20 mph. This was on a freeway very dangerous!! we limped it to a gas station and parked for awhile to get it cooled down. When to move it and absolutely no acceleration it would not move. Nissan she recall this whole damn car and give us our money back. The cvt is junk and they have recalled prior years. 2012 and newer need to be recalled as well.

39 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2019

My cars transmission is making a weird raining sound when I turn it in and drive it, I know there is a recall for Nissan cars for the cvt transmission wondering if mine is covered.

40 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was towed to rockland Nissan (608 NY-303, blauvelt, NY 10913, (845) 358-6700) where it was diagnosed that the continuously variable transmission needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. The VIN was unavailable.

41 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2019

When running make a big raddling noise and gets loud when driving. So stopped driving it.

42 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2018

Without prior warning, including absence of dashboard warning/trouble lights, the car with ~86k miles lost power while accelerating through a traffic light per "limp mode" response to transmission (cvt) failure.

43 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2018

The vehicle at 76k miles started to experience slipping while driving and the check engine light came on. The car additionally struggled to obtain speed when starting from idle, stopped at red lights, stop signs, etc. And would jolt forwarded. The car sent back a p0700 code for transmission issues with additional codes for shifting errors. After taking it to two mechanics and being 2 years outside of the models with extended 10 year warranties and 1 year outside of the 5 year warranty I have to pay 4500. 00 for a new transmission out of pocket. The cvt problems after 2010 models are clearly not fix and the vehicle is unsafe to drive with myself or my family. The fact there is not an extended warranty on newer models or a recall on the transmissions in unacceptable. This very easily could have ended in an accident or injury.

44 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Nissan rouge. The contact stated that while driving about 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 20 mph. The malfunction light illuminated and stayed on. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission valve body assembly needed to be replaced. The failure recurred several times. The contact called to central Toyota dealer (870-268-5418, located at 3305 stadium blvd, jonesboro, ar 72404) and was told to bring the vehicle to the shop. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. Fe.

45 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2018

I'm just so upset with this vehicle. When you drive for about an hour the truck won't go past 70. It starts to slow down and you can't get any speed. I was going to wv and it started messing up I couldn't even pull the hill. It would just go so slow, couldn't get in another lane. It was so scary thought I was gonna get hit. The car always has an whinning noise when your on the road over 30 minutes. You have to cut the truck off, let it sit a while to get the speed to come back up. The next day I was on my way to the beach and it would not go past 20mph. Mash the gas to the floor and it would just make noise. Other than that I like the truck. Every time I take it to the dealership they are trying to charge me almost 1,000 dollars for something that they knew about before they sold these cars to the consumers. Nissan need to recall these cars , they are very dangerous especially if your on the highway with babies in the car.

46 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2018

While driving highway speed, engine rpm would go up without hitting accelerator, then no matter how much I pushed the accelerator I could not get the car up to speed to pass other vehicles. Took vehicle to dealership for evaluation. Either need to spend $3000 for a transmission fluid cooler or $4000 for a new transmission.

47 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2018

On 2/19/14 I purchased a certified pre-owned 2012 Nissan Rogue with 11,258 miles and a 100,000 mile warranty. I am a single mom with 2 children and have returned to school to make a better life for us. My Rogue started losing power when driving, often while in heavy interstate or highway traffic. I will be traveling at 60-75 mph and suddenly, without warning, not be able to go over 40 even with the gas pedal fully depressed. I took it to the dealer on 7/20/18 with 116,225 miles on the odometer. I was informed the valve body assembly, cooler flush kit, evap canister assembly & oil collar assembly need to be replaced. Total cost $4,000 and had to pay $130 for this information! the dealer informed me the digital read out indicated my Rogue had lost power 36 times! a quick internet search turned up many other owners of Nissans with cvt transmissions have experienced the same issue! Nissan has extended the warranty for cvt transmissions on models 2010 and older but refuses to acknowledge the issue continues to plague newer models and will not cover the cost of repairs. This is definitely a safety issue and NHTSA needs to open an investigation. Yesterday I was almost wiped out when I lost power while turning a corner. My children were in the car! multiple reports have been filed with NHTSA with no action. How many need to lose their lives before this is investigated and Nissan is held accountable for faulty cvt transmissions?.

48 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2018

Airbag malfunction light is on, dealership tells me they don't know what it means, just that it should be replaced. Could mean that my airbag will not deploy, could mean that it will deploy randomly. My warranty did not cover it, Nissan will not fix it. It is $1300 and I have another huge problem with my car: my transmission is going out for the second time and my car is at 102,000 miles. Warranty covered it the first time, just ended in July and I am told that Nissan only covers new transmissions for 1 year or 12,000 miles. This car is a lemon. A transmission should not go out twice in 100,000 miles. An airbag malfunction should be covered, this is my safety.

49 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

I was driving in rush hour traffic, traveling the speed limit (65 mph) when the vehicle began decelerating. The vehicle's speed decreased from 65 mph to 0 mph in less than two minutes. I attempted to accelerate and the rpm indicator advanced; however, the vehicle speed decreased. Without any warning or previous problem, the transmission suddenly died right in the middle of the interstate during rush hour. I was in the center driving lane and was traveling with the flow of traffic. Thankfully, I was able to maneuver the vehicle out of the traffic onto the side of the interstate, where I was stranded for 2. 5 hours. Since my vehicle has been disabled, I have conducted research on other Nissan vehicles with cvt transmissions that have had similar problems. There are numerous complaints about the same issues with Nissan cvt transmissions. Moreover, Nissan has had similar issues with the cvt transmission for over a decade. Despite governmental oversight and the company having to correct defects, Nissan continues to manufacture these dangerous vehicles. Life and safety should be a priority for innocent buyers and the general public. My local Nissan leadership has diagnosed and confirmed my vehicle's problem and concluded that the cvt transmission must be replaced. Aside from having a defective transmission, my vehicle is in excellent condition.

50 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2018

Speed limit was 80 miles travel down the high way and the car begin to so down to 5 miles. So I drifted off to the side of the road because a tractor trailer truck was about 6 car links behind me. If this car would have complete stop the truck would have hit the car. I was scared because I never had a vehicle that done this before. I sit along side of the road for about 20 min called my husband because I did not know what was wrong with the car. After 20 mins I restarted the car put it in gear and drive at 60 miles until I got home which was 94 miles. By the time I got home the car was making this strange noise. It sound as if the engine was about to fall out of the car.

51 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2018

Failing cvt (continuously variable transmission) my daughter was driving on the highway at an approx. 65 mph, headed back to college, when her 2012 Rogue stopped accelerating while pushing on the gas peddle. The car would not react to stepping on the gas. It was a dangerous situation in heavy traffic, so she pulled to side of the road. When trying to take off again, it just revved as though in neutral. She turned the car off. After turning the car back on, she was able to accelerate very slowly. Revving sound continued throughout acceleration. She was able to get to her destination. The car was taken to lithia Nissan in eugene, or on April 3, 2018. We live 108 miles from the dealership. As of today, April 18, 2018, the car is still there! the cvt problem was recreated at Nissan and we were told a new transmission was required at a cost of $3000. The warranty ended at 60k and the car has just under 65k. I filed a case with Nissan USA. For some reason the dealership did not capture the proof of failure information. Nissan USA then required the dealership to provide a "video" of the problem occurring. Because the dealership has not been able to capture the cvt issue on video, Nissan USA closed the case. I asked them not to close the case until there was a resolution. They told me without the video for review, they couldn't do anything. They told me to pay the $3000 for the replacement, or continue to drive the car until it happens again, and get it into a dealership immediately so they document the problem while it's happening! I told them it's unacceptable to require my teenage daughter to drive a car we know is going to fail, but can't determine when or where. That's putting her in danger. Research shows the cvt failure is a common problem. Transmissions shouldn't go out at 65k! this is our first Nissan, and we will never buy another one. Recall!.

52 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2018

While driving 80 miles per hour on a wyoming interstate, my 2012 Nissan Rogue shut off the cruise control and would not accelerate even while pushing the gas pedal to the floor. The car would only accelerate to 65 mph and would not reset to normal speeds or acceleration patterns until I pulled off the side of the road and let it cool down for 15-30 minutes. The Nissan dealerships in fort collins, colorado and billings, montana said this issue arose in several Nissan Rogues of different years. Nissan fixed 2010 and earlier models on their dime, but have not paid for replacing the transmission coolers with larger coolers for the 2011 or later models. There has not been a recall for the transmission coolers in 2012 Nissan Rogues up to this point.

53 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2018

Rpms will keep rising while the speed of vehicle and speedometer drops and stalls.

54 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

I have a cvt transmission problem, this should be a recall. My car should not need a new transmission. Aamco is telling me I will need one so I took it to the dealership where I bought it, they ran codes and said nothing was wrong but I needed a over 1200. 00 external cooing system and it is under warranty and then I get a call and its not. I took it to there other dealership and the salesperson and mechanic said there was a problem. . . It started out loosing power and driving down the road thats kinda scary. I know there are other complaints out there about this and I need to know what to do. . . .

55 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 55 mph. The vehicle was driven to Nissan of elk grove (8599 laguna grove dr, elk grove, CA 95757) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,200.

56 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2017

2012 Nissan Rogue lost acceleration while on a trip. Rogue would not go more then 30-40 mph in a 80 mph speed zone on highway. Almost got hit a couple times trying to keep up with traffic and having to pull over to give the car a break. It was very dangerous with being 7 months pregnant, driving in a no service area. Couldn't call for help. It was hot out to have to stop with my self and three dogs in the car.

57 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Front end vibrates.

58 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2017

Driving for 20 minutes on highway, travelling at 75 mph. Changed lanes, slowed down to 65mph. Attempted to accelerate, rpm stuck at 2400, vehicle wouldn't accelerate past 70 after taking 10 seconds to rise to that from 65mph. Didn't go past 2700rpm. Got off highway, stopped at a stop light. Light turned green, car rose very slowly to 2000 rpm, accelerated very slowly to 30mph. This continued for 5 minutes, pulled over and parked for 1 hour. Started driving again, 30 minutes later car stuck at 2400 rpm, couldn't accelerate past previous travelling speed. Took to dealer, no diagnostic codes found, of course, 140 dollars later no resolution. Car has 70,935 miles on it.

59 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2017

After only 5 years and 100,000 miles I was told I had to have a new transmission. I am a very safe driver; only I have driven car; mostly highway miles. All maintenance was maintained. Whine developed in transmission; first told nothing wrong; a few weeks later told this news by pat peck Nissan, mobile, al. Happened when accelerating.

60 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2017

After an hour of driving on the free way the car started deacclerating and the speed wouldn't go above 50 even when I step all the way on the gas pedal.

61 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2017

Cvt on the Nissan Rogue has the same issue that the 2003-2010 recalls have. Just got back from a vacation that was delayed 2 hours due to the transmission issue and we lost acceleration on i75 in florida. We were almost hit by two semi trucks. The rpms just reg up and the car loses power deceleration is fast and dangerous. The issue with the cvt from Nissan has been fixed after 2010. I want to get this fixed by Nissan ASAP as our Rogue has 97k miles and has been doing this since 60k but the 2012s aren't included. My lawyer is working closing on this matter as well. It seems like Nissan needs people to actually die before they take action.

62 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2017

After the car has been driven about an hour or more, usually on a warm day, the car has no power when going up hills. It will go from 70 mph to about 50 mph with the pedal to the floor and will continue to go slower until level ground is driven on. Also, when leaving the highway after this has occurred, after a complete stop, the car will not move at all with acceleration. The car just sits there like you haven't even touched the gas. When it does move after a minute or two, it goes about 1 mile an hour and if you are pulling into an intersection with other cars coming, that is extremely dangerous. This has happened several times. The first time I took it in for repairs was memorial day 2017. The most recent time I took it in for repairs was September 8, 2017.

63 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2017

While driving my vehicle in town, approx. 40mph up a slight incline the transmission stopped engaging and rpm's started to increase while speed dropped. Vehicle has 110,000 miles on it. I came dangerously close to getting into several accidents trying to safely pull over. There was a transmission shop nearby and I barely made it there and they looked into this issue. They said my only option would be to have the cvt replaced. They said I would be putting myself and others at risk of injury if I continued to try and drive it in this condition. The vehicle had no prior issues/warning signs prior to this failure. I strongly believe Nissan should replace my cvt at their expense.

64 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2017

Transmission will stall and/or lose acceleration while driving on the freeway. Will not increase speed, regardless of if the pedal is to the floor or not. If you come to a complete stop, the vehicle does not move over 5 mph until you stop, turn the vehicle off, sometimes for up to 30 min, and resume driving. This is the 4th time this has happened within 30 days, always while going over 60 mph, and freeway driving for 10 min +.

65 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2017

The cvt has lost 95% of the power during driving. Luckily we were only 1/2 mile from home, so we turned around. We had to have it towed to a Nissan dealership to have it diagnosed. The dealership told us that the transmission needs replaced at a cost of over $3400. The vehicle only has 77924 miles on it. We asked if it could be rebuilt and the dealership said it has to be replaced with a re manufactured unit. They cannot rebuild the transmission. We contacted Nissan to open a case and they said they will not help in the cost of a re manufactured unit or the labor cost. This is a known issue with Nissan and previous model years have had the warranty extended to cover the costs. After reading online this appears to be a very common issue with this transmission and could cause an accident or death. Nissan case is under samantha diezman the CO owner of the vehicle.

66 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2017

When trying to accelerate at times the vehicle will not receive a response from the gas pedal (it seems like) not sure if this is the transmission not responding or if its the throttle body not responding. Either way based on what I have read online, the bulk of complaints are pointing to the cvt transmission & mileage is relatively similar to my vehicle that have this problem as well. My kids travel in this vehicle every morning that I purchased new from Nissan. This is completely unacceptable from Nissan not to address this problem when they (I'm sure) know of all the complaints.

67 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated while the rpm gauge increased. The contact was able to restart the vehicle to correct the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The dealer recommended that the contact replace the continuously variable transmission (cvt). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

68 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2016

After about an hour of highway driving, the car will stop accelerating. The car was taken to the Nissan dealership today, 10/18/19, where the mechanic told us that the "transmission was overheating". They could not tell us what was causing it want install an additional piece of equipment that will provide a temporary fix. This is an extremely dangerous and scary situation; there needs to be a recall.

69 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2016

Vehicle has an acceleration problem, on long drives the transmission overheats and it does not accelerate as intended; you step on the accelerator and it does not go over 35-40 miles per hour, and on the highway is very dangerous, my daughter almost got hit by a semi on her way home from school. She drives 2:45 hours from and to school. I contacted Nissan and told me that was my problem, that my warranty already expired and there is no way in hell they could anything I am on my own. Checked with the internet and other owners and told me the same thing; it is a safety issue, but they dont see it that way is all about the money and also they told me because it as my first Nissan; they could not help because you have to be a loyal customer of Nissan in order for me to be able to get something done. Dont know what to do. Need help!!!.

70 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2016

One two occasions, while driving on an interstate the car decelerated from 70 mph to under 40 mph with the rpms dropping dramatically. Following the first occurrence, the dealer told us they could not identify the problem and I may have hit the wrong peddle. Following the second occasion we were told it was a transmission problem and needed $3000-$6000 in repairs. After a one minute google search I found that this has been a numerous/continual occurrence for several years with the Nissan Rogue and they were well aware of the problem. Nissan stated they would not assist in repair costs after filing a complaint. How could they not have known of this problem when it is easily identified in a google search? both occurrences created an extremely dangerous situation for my family the car is 4 years old with under 70000 miles. Attached is a small sample from a google search that was available to the dealer who could not find the problem.
