1 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2019 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 05/05/2021

I have experienced sudden acceleration, and sudden stalling on the highway, cobb pkwy, and at a zaxby's restaurant when I was driving my car on four or more occasions. I almost hit a car last week when my car suddenly accelerated. I steered my car to the right next to a curb to avoid a collision. I almost got hit by a car on cobb pkwy. When my car suddenly stopped on me while I was driving. I had my two autistic daughters in the car each time these events occurred. We were very scared each time this happened. This has happened to many other people who own Nissan Rogues and pathfinders. I think a recall should be issued on these cars before someone dies. Prayerfully, no one has died from these issues.

2 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2018 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/10/2020

While driving my 2018 Nissan Rogue to work on a sunny florida morning, I experienced a technical issue with my vehicle around 8:00 am est. While slowing down applying my brakes as I approached a major intersection with traffic, my Rogue suddenly accelerated on its own accord causing me to crash into a vehicle in front of me. During the acceleration, the vehicle's onboard automated emergency braking system was sounding alarms but did not brake the vehicle. Instead it felt like the vehicle was accelerated instead. A loud grinding sound could be heard at the point of impact with the vehicle in front of me and for about a second or so afterwards. Thankfully the speed was low only resulting in minor body damage to my vehicle and no visible damage to the other vehicle. The end result was I sustained multiple back injuries - lower and neck regions simultaneously. I suspect this is due to the fact I went from slowing down to sudden acceleration and then finally to full sudden stop. Thankfully, I was the only person in my vehicle. All of this was caught on my dash camera including the sounds. The vehicle was taking to bill ray Nissan in longwood, FL which were unable to pull any diagnostic codes and have not been able to duplicate the issue. When depressing a brake to slow a vehicle down, the vehicle should not accelerate by itself. This is a significant safety issue. I will be glad to submit a copy of the dash camera footage for review.

Tl- the contact was driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue(rental). The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph while in a parking lot the front driver side wheel made contact with the side of an island curb. After making contact with curb the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration and increased to the speed of approximately 80 mph before crashing into a commercial building(taco bell). During the incident the vehicle made a sharp 90 degree turn and the steering wheel was very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle penetrated the wall and stopped inside the building. Both the front driver and passenger side occupants suffered head and neck injuries which required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was unknown. Jft.

5 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2014 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

I was attempting to pull into a parking spot at my physician's office, the parking lot's slope was slightly uphill. As I slowly approached the parking spot and turned the car to the right, I decided to lightly tap the accelerator to give the Rogue enough speed to pull into the spot. The engine suddenly revved up and the car lurched forward at a high rate of speed--almost as if I had jammed onto the accelerator--except I hadn't. Since the car was already turned to the right, it slammed into the side of another car already parked next to me. My car then jumped the curb, kept going to the right and slammed into sidewalk ramp railings. My car finally stopped. I was not hurt (wearing seat belt) but I was shaken up--this happened so quickly that I didn't have time enough to respond in any way except to try to straighten the steering wheel--which was useless. There is extensive damage to the front end and right side of my car, and the other parked car had damage to the left side. The sidewalk railings were knocked down. The police officer cited me with reckless driving, so he obviously didn't believe that my accelerator stuck. In the past, rarely I experienced rapid acceleration from a stop (like at an intersection)--the rpm monitor would rev up to a high amount 5000+--even though I had only gently depressed the accelerator pedal--I would have to punch the accelerator pedal again to make it stop revving. This was very rare, so I didn't report it to my dealer--I figured they would dismiss it if they couldn't reproduce the problem. However, now I am afraid to drive this car. I saw one other person's report of a very similar occurrence. Has anyone else experienced this?.

Failure Date: 08/02/2015

2nd complaint of repeated issue, subsequent occurrence. 2010 Nissan Rogue lost power and decelerated from 70 mph to approximately 40 mph while traveling on highway, hazards applied however vehicles approaching had to change lanes. On this occurrence a vehicle check engine light appeared. Pulled off road and when accelerator was depressed engine revved to approximately 2500 rpm with no forward motion then lurched forward rapidly accelerating then lost power again before returning to normal operation. Note that Nissan dealership acknowledges that this is a known issue, instructed that the cvt transmission warranty has been extended to 120k miles and to bring to dealership. 11 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2010 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 05/16/2015

While driving on the interstate at 75 mph on a hot day 90 degrees. I was using max a/c. Car was fine and suddenly felt sluggish and wouldn't accelerate. I pulled off at next available exit, after a complete stop the car refused to move then suddenly accelerated slowly similar to when an abrupt brake is applies and car moves very slowly (extremely dangerous condition all the rouges have) I shut off the a/c and let car rest for 5 minutes then got back on the highway, although feeling sluggish I arrived at my destination. On my ride home several hours later I did not use a/c and outside temps had dropped to mid 70, the car appeared fine. I will note that this problem also occurred 2 years earlier in the summer of 2013 at 87,000 miles during another long highway trip driving in high temps. In this case I cancelled trip and brought car to the dealer after cool down period, the problem didn't present itself, no dash lights or codes same as previous. The dealer charged me $1800. 00 to change dirty transmission fluid. Problem is back again at 112,000 miles. There is a serious problem with these cars that is "dangerous". Had I needed to come to an abrupt stop on the highway I would not be able to move out of the way and as a separate issue when you abruptly brake the car can't get out of it's own way and has scared me several times.

17 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue

Failure Date: 07/19/2011

I was on my way to work and had entered our parking lot and was ready to pull into a parking space. As I pulled in and was at a stop , my car suddenly accelerated and I was unable to stop it. I started to turn the wheel to the right because there was a 2010 Ford explorer that was parked in front but unfortunately I hit the back end of the car and pushed it at least 30 ft dead straight. My car continued going to the right and over a island and by the time I got it to stop the air bag had gone off. I'm not sure how this happened since I was stopped, there were two witnesses that saw my vehicle stopped and the next thing it accelerated. I know my foot was on the brake because I was stopped and ready to exit the vehicle but it would not stop. This is a brand new car only 2 months old with a little over 1000 miles. I have grandchildren that ride with me and after my vehicle gets repaired I would be affraid to drive this. I am thankful that other than bruises I am ok and that it did not happen on a major street.
