This could have caused significant injury and or damage to another person or vehicle. The entire rear window shattered. The glass could have cut someone if the vehicle was occupied when it happened. I've had to file a insurance claim which has cost me my deductible. The dealership acted like they had no clue about this being an issue and has not helped in any way to repair or offer options. So now it comes out of my pocket.
Rear window suddenly shattered.
While parked my back windshield shattered.
The rear window completely exploded with no impact from anything. The vehicle was stationary and stopped at a stoplight when it sounded like a gunshot and the rear window completely exploded. There were cracks all over the entire rear window and the window quickly started to fall apart completely. This was dangerous because there was glass falling everywhere on the road and into the car. Now the car is open to the elements. Nissan will not cover this repair under warranty and the insurance will not pay to fix this issue without charging a deductible. Nissan dealership is charging $245 to even look at the vehicle. There is currently a class action lawsuit against Nissan for this issue with other Nissan Rogues for Nissan using glass that is too thin for the vehicle.

Dear Nissan consumer affairs, I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue involving my Nissan vehicle and to request full reimbursement for the repair costs I incurred as a result. On [xxx], I discovered that the rear window of my vehicle had unexpectedly shattered without any collision, impact, vandalism, or other outside force. The glass remained in place initially despite being shattered. However, when I closed the vehicle door under normal conditions, the entire rear window collapsed and fell inward. The force of simply closing the door should not cause a properly functioning rear window to fail. At no time was the vehicle involved in an accident, struck by debris, or subjected to any unusual conditions that would explain the damage. The spontaneous shattering and subsequent collapse of the glass strongly suggest a defect in the window, its installation, or another manufacturing-related issue. This incident created a significant safety hazard and could have resulted in injury to passengers. Vehicle glass is expected to withstand ordinary use, including the routine opening and closing of vehicle doors. Because this failure occurred through no fault of my own, I do not believe I should be responsible for the cost of repairs. Vehicle information: year: 2025 model: Nissan Rogue VIN: [xxx] mileage: 14,769 I respectfully request that Nissan investigate this matter and provide full reimbursement for all repair and replacement costs that will be associated with this failure. I have photographs of the shattered glass, repair documentation, and receipts available for review. I would appreciate a written response within 14 business days outlining Nissan’s position and the next steps toward resolving this matter. Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious safety concern. Sincerely, [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Was driving up the interstate to work this morning. Before I got to my exit my rear window exploded. This was a huge safety risk as the noise alone caused me to jump and almost veer into a car in the lane beside me which created risk for myself, my dog and others in the vehicles beside and around me. I called Nissan today and was told I had to file it on my insurance. I did call highway patrol and have a report issued and there was no sign of damage on what was actually left remaining in the rear hatch. There were no warning lights or errors prior to the incident, and the vehicle just had a state inspection less that 6 months ago.
I was at work on 05/25/26 and when I got off work, I entered the car and shut the door and the back window shattered. After watching camera from my job, no one was near the car or drove by, but the changes in the window were notice on camera a couple of hours before I got off my shift.
While driving on a parkway, the back rear window just suddenly exploded. I had a minor child sitting in the back seat and wife in the front passenger seat. When the sound of the explosion happen we thought we got hit with a rock or someone shot at the vehicle. I had to take the next exit to get off the road since it is raining and it was too dangerous to pull over on the side. I called to make a police report was told no report can be made. No warnings or signs just a sudden explosion.
The back window shattered. I could not find an impact spot, nor was there any weather that would have caused the window to shatter.
My rear window exploded on its own without provocation. Were I driving, it would have injured me with the glass. I reported this problem to the dealer and called the police when it happened. No warning lamps or messages appeared.

Back glass spontaneously broke while during. Heard a loud pop sound and when parked the windshield fell apart in pieces. Very unsafe and thankful no one was in the backseat. Glass broke from inside out. .
Nissan has a known “glass blowing up” issue. Yesterday I was a victim to this. I am a new mom, thank god my baby was not with me. This could have cut her, she is rear facing so the glass would have definitely hit her. There was glass in the back seat, and probably all over my car. I fear for my safety and my child’s safety if glass can just explode in my car without any kind of outside influence.

I am unsure exactly what happened, I was driving and heard a pop look up and rear windshield was shattered, no impact, crash, and/or hit with an object. Once I looked at the window I noticed that it exploded around the window if following the contour of the shape. This was extremely weird, sudden, and dangerous especially considering I was driving on the highway, I tried emailing Nissan, however, in return I was only sent a discount coupon for floor mats. This is concerning and I have to pay $500 for a new window but I do not want to have to repeat this scenario.
My vehicle was parked in a parking lot on a day with mild temperatures (55 degrees fahrenheit) and the back window glass spontaneously shattered. Nothing struck it.
On January 23rd 2026, my rear window shattered while parked in the parking lot at work. I have video footage from my job’s security cameras which confirms there were no external forces involved nor, thankfully, no one was as in the vehicle at the time it occurred. This occurred while the vehicle was parked; it spontaneously shattered. The back windshield could have unexpectedly exploded while my children were in the vehicle, and the flying glass could have injured my children. The windshield has since been replaced, but there have been no issues to occur since the initial incident. At the time of the incident, I contacted the local police to file a police report. A certified Nissan dealers did inspect my windshield, and the Nissan warranty group did not replace the windshield citing that I was over the 36,000 miles warranty (42967 miles). The service rep was helpful during the process and was even surprised that the warranty group denied the repair, since I was not far over the 36,000 miles. I had to pay out of pocket to replace my windshield and to also cover my rental for the time while I was waiting to hear back from the warranty group. I had to leave my vehicle at the dealership during this time. A total of 33 days, which was an expense I could not afford but I needed my transportation back. My insurance company did not cover any portion of the claim since it was a manufacturer failure. There were no warning, odd noises or damage to the windshield prior to it shattering. There is an active lawsuit against Nissan for not performing a recall on this defect, and it is a known defect.
Constant forward driving aids disabled due to blocked camera. Has been to the dealer on 6/11/25 7/16/25, 8/7/25 and was scheduled to go back tomorrow for the same issue as well as recall repair and oil change. That was cancelled due to the rear window blowing out this morning and having to have it repaired before driving in all the rain we are having. The "forward driving aids disabled due to blocked camera" appears alot and I do get out and check the camera and there is nothing.
See attached document for complaint.
