When I sat down in my car and closed the door the rear window exploded. It was in the morning at 5:15 am, still dark and cool.

I was driving down the road when my rear windshield shattered after making a loud pop while I was driving down the road, and when I stopped, it shattered all over the road and inside my car.

While parked, I closed the vehicle door. The sudden cabin backpressure caused the rear windshield to instantly and violently explode outward without warning. There was no prior impact, extreme weather, or external object that caused the damage. This spontaneous shattering creates an extreme safety hazard and an immediate distraction risk.

On 9/1/2026 sometime between the hours of 1pm and 5pm, the rear windshield of my Rogue, completely shattered. The vehicle was parked on my driveway. Nothing around my car, ring camera did not pick up anything. It simply just shattered.

I went inside of the church for a service and parked my car in the parking lot. When I returned to my vehicle and found the rear window was broken. Nothing fell on the vehicle. There was no impact to the rear of the vehicle. There was nothing used to break the rear window.

While driving at highway speeds, the panoramic sunroof glass spontaneously exploded without any prior warning, impact, or rock strikes. The sudden, loud explosion caused severe driver distraction and panic, creating an immediate safety hazard on the highway. Additionally, shattered glass fragments fell onto the interior sunshade, posing a significant risk of lacerations to the occupants. The vehicle was immediately taken to an authorized Nissan dealership, where service technicians inspected the roof and found no evidence of external impact. A warranty case was opened with Nissan corporate. The vehicle is currently sitting at my local Nissan dealership and is fully available for inspection. The dealer has taken photos (again) and submitted them to the manufacturer. However, the vehicle has been sitting for weeks without a repair timeline, and the dealer is refusing to provide a warranty loaner vehicle while waiting for Nissan corporate to approve the claim. There were no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms before this sudden structural failure.

After multiple issues with the motor of my new Rogue, my windshield spontaneously shattered this week. I'm glad I was not driving the vehicle when it occurred because apparently it sounded like a shotgun when it ruptured. This is a major issue apparently for many Rogue owners. My concern is what else might be wrong with the vehicle - not a safe vehicle for sure. If you're a mom and driving with little kiddos - please find a safer vehicle! Nissan is repairing the windshield and is trying to offer to trade the vehicle - which is a sign that they are aware of this problem among Rogues.

My hood flew open while I was driving and my vision was impaired, the hood latch is defective. There should be a safety on the hood if the button gets hit and you forget and drive off the latch should hold the lid down.

There was a very big storm about 3:30 in the afternoon. About 20 minutes later while driving north on interstate 81 near winchester virginia there was a loud bang from the rear of the car and the back glass shattered.

I was driving down the road alte at night on a completely empty road. All of a sudden I heard what sounded like a gun shot hitting glass. I looked in my rearview mirror and noticed my rear windshield was completely shattered. There was no rhyme or reason for it to happen. Just out of nowhere.

My friend went to start my car and she heard a large boom and looked back, and my back windshield had shattered and glass on the ground and inside the car. If I had been opening or closing the trunk it would have severely injured us. Also, there was nothing that had hit it, it was sunny and in the 80 outside. I had to go to safelight and get a covering for it, while I wait on a replacement. I contacted Nissan and they said that warranty does not cover glass and that maybe something was already wrong with it. My windshield was perfectly intact until it shattered and blew out everywhere.

There was no road debris, no preceding or surrounding vehicles, and absolutely no external impact. The Nissan dealership wrongfully refused to cover this under the new vehicle limited warranty, claiming it was external damage, despite the lack of any impact point. Due to safety urgency, I had to replace the glass through a third-party shop via my auto insurance. This is a severe product quality and safety defect regarding the rear defroster and tempered glass, which is already subject to federal class-action lawsuits for Nissan Rogues. The glass shards could have caused severe injuries.

Rear window shatter spontaneously while parked for 6 hours in a secured parking lot. Rear window could have shattered while driving which could easily startle the driver and cause an accident. I had just finished pumping gas and heard a pop, and the sound of glass hitting the pavement. I walked to the back of my car and the back window glass had shattered. I saw no apparent reason for it to shatter. The car was stopped, the engine was off, and the side window was open because my dog was on the backseat. There was only a couple of duffle bags and a backpack by the liftgate. I did check online and there seems to be an issue and reports of the Nissan Rogue's liftgate glass shattering for no reason. It said I should report it. I will also call the dealer on Monday morning.

The hatchback window exp!oded into the vehicle. The vehicle had been setting under a carport all night and my wife got in the car and when she closed the door the hatch window shattered. She took it to the dealer and was told it was an insurance problem. She stopped by our agent but they were already closed. Meanwhile I had been researching this problem and found out this seemed to be a problem with 2021-2025 Nissan rouges. My wife took the car back to the dealership and told them it was their problem. The dealership has the car now to replace the window.

This is a 2023 Nissan Rogue with 16,298 miles. It is parked overnight in a garage. This morning when the garage door was opened, the rear window spontaneously exploded, sending shattered glass all over the garage. The car has not been in any accidents or had any damage, and there was no significant difference in temperature between the garage and outdoors (both around 65 degrees).

I opened the trunk with the button on the dash and while the hatch was open a few minutes I heard a loud pop and realized the rear glass blew out and shards of glass came rolling down from the upper right hand side of the rear window and it had also spider cracked throughout the window. This happened at night 10:30 pm it was 42 degrees and light rain. I had just driven the truck for a half hour before and there was no warning lights or sounds prior. The vehicle was stopped and off and all that proceeded the spontaneous explosion was me opening the trunk and within 3 minutes of opening the trunk the glass exploded on its own. I never had a problem before this event and never had it checked out by the dealership or mechanic as I was unaware this was a common issue and had to find out after this happened. I had taken this car several times for several recalls but was never informed of any recalls or issues regarding the rear glass spontaneously blowing out. This is a serious issue and a safety issue and would like answers as to why this wasn't brought to my attention or part of the previous recalls even though it's been a known issue for this make and model for some time.

I had just pulled into my driveway and got out and shut the drivers side door and my back window spontaneously shattered. I read online that this has been happening with Rogues in my model year range.

Hello, I am writing to report a sudden rear windshield failure on my 2025 Nissan Rogue. On March 20, 2026, the rear windshield shattered without any impact or external cause. I am aware of ongoing reports and a recently filed class action lawsuit alleging rear windshield defects in 2021–2025 Nissan Rogues. Based on the circumstances, I believe my vehicle experienced the same defect. I have video and photographic documentation available upon request. Due to immediate safety concerns and inability to operate the vehicle, I had the windshield replaced on March 21, 2026, by windshields r us at a cost of $337. 04. I purchased my 2024 Nissan Rogue 12 days ago at bob bell in baltimore MD. Day 12 I was leaving work like usual. When I closed my driver door the rear hatch glass exploded into a million pieces. Clearly there must have been a manufacter defect in the glass for this to occur. Contacted dealer and Nissan consumer affairs. Both are telling me that this is not a recall issue nor is it covered under warranty. After arriving home I googled this situation and come to fin that this a very common isssue in the 2021-2024 Nissan Rogues. There is a class action suit against Nissan about this issue. At least in my situation I was parked when it exploded but had I been driving that glass flying could have been a much worse situation. I just want Nissan to own up to this and cover the repair. I also want to make others aware of this known problem. Beings that I was leaving work the whole event was captured on security footage.

The Jaguar dealership of chantilly, va provided me with a rental car from enterprise car rental. The rental car was provided on the 9th of March 2026. I drove the vehicle to my residence in [xxx] . I parked the vehicle in my driveway. The vehicle in question is a 2024 Nissan Rogue in which the back windshield spontaneously shattered without any warning or notification. The vehicle was secured properly and my security surveillance did not depict any foul play from any perpetrators. I discovered the shattered back windshield on the 13th of Friday 2026. The rear windshield on my Nissan Rogue shattered suddenly without any impact while the vehicle was parked. The glass appeared to explode outward. I later discovered other owners have reported similar issues with Rogue rear windshields shattering unexpectedly. I had to replace the glass immediately for safety and paid out of pocket for the repair. I am concerned this may be related to a defect in the rear glass.

Back glass completely shattered while driving around 65 mph down the road. Had been driving for around 1 hr prior and weather was a consistent 30 degrees. No objects hit the glass and then it sounded like a loud explosion. I had a service inspection on February 20, 2026 where no issues were stated. No warnings appeared prior to this incident.

I was waiting to turn when my rear window had a sudden "bang" noise and shattered. There was no snow on my car, and no evidence of anything going inside my car that could've caused the damage. As I drove, the glass continued to shatter more and more and ended up in my vehicle, and potentially on the road as well. There is currently an open class action lawsuit regarding this issue.

While getting into my car I closed the driver side door and the back glass shattered. It had no visible cracks or chips and was parked in an open area.

I went to start the car. Got out and shut the drivers door and the rear windshield shattered and fell in. There were no cracks or chips in the window before. Broken glass shards got all in my 7 month olds extra car seat that we use for a stroller. The Nissan dealership we bought the car from said the glass is on back order with no idea when it will be in stock. They put plastic over it and sent us away until they find more information out.

While sitting at a red light, the rear windows exploded and shattered. After getting out of the vehicle to determine what happened, the windows then caved in. This is a rental vehicle and has to be repaired immediately. The damage is no longer available for inspection. This put mine and others safety at risk because if I had of been moving during the time of the explosion, it could have caused an accident. The police inspected the vehicle. There were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms prior to this happening. I only had the vehicle for a 4 days prior to this happening.
