1 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2012 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/12/2020

When approaching a red light and stopping quickly, the car completely stopped even though I was going 10 miles per hour at 1000 rpm, traction control light, oil light, battery light and seat belt light all turned on. The only way to get the car to move was to turn it off and turn it back on. This happened a second time while returning to our home. As I was getting off the interstate and stopping for another vehicle, the same thing happened again. It seems to do this with a hard stop at 1000 rmp or 10-20 mph.

3 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2010 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 06/18/2018

The car started making a noise, took it to auto zone & they said it was the belt tightener. The car was having a hard time driving up hills on the way home after getting the part. It actually stalled out at a red light, making it very hard to break. After getting it home & replacing the part the noise was still there. We were going to go back to auto zone to see why & while driving on the way there a valve came shooting through the engine. It was quite alarming sounded like a shot gun went off. We picked up the broken valve, parts of it looked melted, & towed the car home making sure no cars hit us we pushed the car off the rd. Thank god we were not on a hwy with my 5 month old & 11yr old.

My 2006 Nissan Sentra has delayed cranking when trying to start, especially when it is hot outside. Tried a couple of different mechanics but could not find the problem. Bought it brand new in April 2006, and started having problem since 2009/2010 with less than 30,000 miles, including all belts needing replacement at 15,000 miles that dealer charged for non-warranty repair. Current mileage is about 68,000.

5 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2009 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

While driving to work on the beltway about 1 mile prior to the exit, the engine shut off along with any electrical equipment. Was able to pull to the side and get towed to a dealer (not Nissan) where they diagnosed a "blown engine". Had transferred the car to a Nissan dealer for warranty disposition and diagnosis. Have been waiting over 1 month for an answer. We have tried contacting Nissan corporate and regional personnel and seem to be getting the run around.

6 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2003 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 07/03/2012

Check engine light came on after starting car after oil change at local shop. Mechanic checked code, problem with camshaft position sensor. Part replaced. Problem solved, check engine light stay off. After 1 week, check engine light came on and again, camshaft position sensor needs replaced. Car timing clearly off - when attempting to accelerate car jolts and shudders hard enough to slam driver into seatbelt. When vehicle warmed all the way up problem nonexistent. Camshaft position sensor changed again, problem reoocurs within a week or two. During fall/winter when cold weather occurs engine must be completely warm to avoid being shaken and jolted around while accelerating. Check engine light remains on. Dealer states "timing chain is out of time" and must be replaced. Nissan north America states car not on recall list, although recalls listed here seem to apply to my vehicle.

7 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2005 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/15/2011

After the car had been having trouble with overhead, the thermostat, engine belts, and water pump were replaced April 30, 2011. Approximately two weeks later, the car would no longer start. The mechanic said this no start condition and the previous problems with the thermostat/coolant were due to a head gasket problem. The head gasket is faulty and many others have had this problem. The car has only 70,000 miles and should not be having this type of problem. The car was bought new, had been well cared for and the only problems have been caused by the faulty head gasket.

11 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2006 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 10/20/2006

I have an 2006 Nissan Sentra and I bought it used with 3000 miles son it. A couple months later the brakes would squeak and the engine would make ticking sound. I took it in to santa monica Nissan 5 times and then the finally fixed the problem. They replaced the brake pads and for a 4 month old car it shouldn't need brakes. The brakes don't make any noise but the engine still makes ticking sound but Nissan does the same remedy every time, change the engine belts. Apparently that's not working and when I contacted Nissan the service representative but I was on hold for 1 hour and then I hung up. Nissan needs to know about this. Remember the brakes are fne now its just the engine that makes ticking sounds. They beter fix this.

12 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2002 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/25/2006

After purchasing a Nissan Sentra gxe 2002 -- about 1 month later the service engine light came on and I had to pay almost 300 dollars to replace the radiator thermostat--of course this repair and the next was not covered by the warranty that I purchased--after 5 months both engine belts had to be replaced--another 175 bucks. Now I hear a suspicious creaking from the rear end--I can't wait to find out what that is. Oh--I almost forgot--one day after taking the car home I had to repair a rear tire and the paint is peeling and fading.

13 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2005 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 02/20/2005

With regard to odi# 10110307 mentioned above: I am a current owner of a 2004 Nissan Sentra, there is a widespread problem that even NHTSA is failing to acknowledge with regard to the 1. 8l engine and/or assembly plants in mexico that produce these units. I have fought Nissan tooth and nail over this, the last time I was at the sales dealer for service, they refused to service the vehicle, and actually asked me to leave their property. Regional representative from Nissan north America, inc. In new jersey was contacted immediately, that individual sided with the dealer with respect that I should go to another dealer for service. Engine still pins in cold weather, and rattles in hot weather. Water still leaks under the hood onto the drive belt. Have written to Nissan motors ltd. In japan with no response. Will be losing approximately $6,000 when I trade out of the vehicle in order to get secure and reliable transportation, which will definitely not be another Nissan. Nissan north America refuses to give me any information to contact a "higher up" on the corporate chain, they say that information cannot be disclosed. To all current owners of new Nissans, I say cheers and good luck!.

17 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2002 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 05/14/2003

I own a 2002 Sentra spec v and this is my second one in 10 months that has failed to perform as it should. The current vehicle has had 1 new engine, 1 exhaust manifold, 2 window regulators, 2 new windows, three new door speakers, two shift knobs, 1 timing belt tensioner, 1 third brake light, and is in the process of getting it's third engine. Car consumes oil at a rapid rate of 2 quarts per 1200 miles. Tried an informal resolution and Nissan rejected. Dealer agrees the car should be bought back. Symptoms that I have, lead to possible engine fire and is being addressed with a recall. I was sent home in a vehicle that was unsafe and they did not want to fix this last time and were denying the car had any problem. I fought a long hard battle just to get it fixed.

21 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2001 Nissan Sentra

Failure Date: 12/22/2001

When I reported that the chirping/squeaking sound had returned (around the engine belts) to the service dept. At sheehy Nissan in annapolis, the service person (mary) said that, if we can't recreate the sound the mechanic can't fix it. I proceeded to tell her to look at her data base for Dec 2001, and she would see that it has been only a month and the sound is back, but intermitent, and the service manager-zeek knew what it was after they had changed out the (2) defective senor recall. She got impatient and repeated the same again to me, about recreating the sound. Not being very educated or patient with customers, but rude, only served to upset me further about this vehicle and the complacent attitude I was up against. I thought, I would hate to think what would happen to me if one of those belts gave out. Its my life, not mary' . I also told her when the belts make that sound, the engine hestitates. This made no difference to this "service expert. ".
